Beautiful winter gardens in the house. How to build a winter garden in the country

The plastic cladding of the base / plinth is a rectangular panel with imitation of brick or stone on front side... The main criteria for choosing such a finish for foundation walls are its low price and ease of installation, which allows you to sheathe the basement yourself.
And yet, no matter how skillful the imitation is, it cannot compare with the beauty and strength of natural, and even artificial stone. For example, the sandstone cladding of the basement is done once, and it serves as long as the building itself will stand.
It is about such a cladding that will be discussed in our article.

Of course, everyone knows about the beauty and durability of marble and granite, but these types of stone are practically not used in the decoration of private houses. This is due to the high cost of the stone, as well as its monumentality. It is more common to see it on the facades of office buildings.
But there are quite a few other rocks that can be used to finish the foundation. Get about them brief information you can by looking at the given table.

Stone categoryIts varietiesCharacteristics and application
Wild stone

Plinth cladding is one of the most popular types of finishes. Its cause is not only affordable price stone, but also its original form.
  • In structure, it is sand pressed into layers under high pressure by nature itself, which formed in those places where there were previously reservoirs. This breed looks like a thin tile, which is why it got its second name - limestone.

In appearance, the stone is diverse, it can differ not only in thickness and configuration, but also in color. In nature, there are options from a gray-yellow hue to terracotta.

  • For outdoor work, it is valuable that the structure of the limestone is dense, which makes it resistant to moisture and temperature extremes. The photo above shows an example of finishing the basement with this stone.
Wild stone

Rubble is called the fragments of various rocks formed during their extraction. Therefore, it is also called career. It can be waste from crushed stone production, and can be selected manually.
  • There are many categories and types of buta used for various purposes. There is an industrial stone that has solid dimensions - it is used in large-scale construction.

There is a bed quarry, which resembles a small brick in shape, and is ideal for the construction of the foundations themselves, walls of buildings and wells, fences. This type of scrap is selected in the process of careful sorting.

  • It is also suitable for finishing the base, but most often, a rounded butt is used for this purpose. It acquires its shape not in the process of crushing in quarries, but in a natural way, under the influence of river waters.

The process of installing a rounded butt is rather complicated, since it is impossible to automate it, and each element for laying has to be selected manually.

Sandstone

Various types of sandstone are also used for outdoor facing work. It is an inexpensive natural and almost eternal stone with a layered structure.
  • Despite its high strength, it is quite easy to process. Many types of sandstone are mined, but not all of them are suitable for facades. For example, a shell rock may have practically through pores.

Marl has a mixed, clay-calcium composition with various impurities, on which the density of the stone depends. There is chalk marl, which crumbles under the hands, and there is, for example, dolomite - a very durable and beautiful stone.

  • This sandstone is best suited for facing the basement. Several types of marls are used as raw materials in the production of Portland cement.
Sandstone

Tuff is a volcanic rock formed by the deposition of ash. Accordingly, this stone is mined in regions adjacent to volcanoes and is widely used in construction and architecture.
  • Tuff has not only strength, but also thermal insulation properties that are valuable for any building. It has a variety of very pleasant textures and colors, and is produced both in the form of blocks and in the form of tiles.

Sandstone-tuff is used for both outdoor and interior decoration and as an additive to decorative plaster. Stone chips are added to the mortar for facing the basement, and a beautiful relief is obtained on the surface.

Sandstone

  • This type of sandstone is the most beautiful, durable, and at the same time, lightweight. It is mined in the mountain caves of the North Caucasus, where there are huge deposits of this stone. It has the most beautiful textures and heterogeneous colors, so it is used only as a finishing material.

Travertine shades range between yellow-gray, cream, pinkish-white. Thanks to the delicate pastel palette, not only the sandstone-travertine basement cladding is performed on the facades, but also the continuous finishing of the outer walls.

There is decorative plaster that imitates the texture of travertine.

  • By the way, this stone can be painted, so designers often use it in their projects. He is quite malleable in handling - facing tiles made of travertine is subjected to pressing and grinding during the production process. As a result, products are obtained that differ both in texture and in physical and mechanical characteristics.

In terms of their properties and aesthetic qualities, many types of artificial stone are not inferior to natural stone. Take the agglomerate.
Chips of granite, quartzite, or marble are used as raw materials for its production. The bonding element is cement or polymer resin.
So:

  • To give the stone rare shades and mosaic texture, various minerals, colored glass, metal shavings are added to its composition. Agglomerate is produced: both in the form of blocks and in the form of large slabs and tiles.
Here it is, along with the well-known porcelain stoneware, is used for cladding different surfaces, including the base.

  • The facing agglomerate can have several options for the front surface: rough, polished, polished, bush hammered. This artificial stone has even wider applications than many types of natural stone.
And this is not only wall cladding, but also floor coverings, countertops, bar counters. High tech used in the production of sinter make it completely insensitive to moisture and, consequently, to low temperatures.
  • The content of quartz sand and granite chips in the composition gives it not only increased strength, but also resistance to aggressive influences, including acidic ones. Depending on the thickness and configuration of the tile, it can be mounted either on the base / plinth cladding adhesive or on the battens.

  • There are other types of artificial stone, which are made from gypsum, concrete, acrylic resins, capable of imitating almost all existing types of natural stone. In addition, they are also superior to analogs in many qualities.
Having samples and a compound ( Silicone forms for casting), many types of stone can be made at home. Fortunately, dry balanced mixtures can be purchased in hardware stores, and the manufacturer's instructions will explain how to make the composition, and how long it will take to harden.
  • The base cladding with Besser has gained extraordinary popularity today. It is a decorative stone used for landscaping adjoining territories, construction of fences, interior and facade cladding.
At its core, this stone is a type of facing brick with a chipped surface. Namely, hyper-pressed bricks, which are made from a cement-sand mixture, by the method of semi-dry vibrocompression.

Besser for facing the basement is ideal, only, due to its solid weight, the stone laying technology differs from other finishing methods. We will discuss some of them in the next chapter.

Cladding process

Any work in construction, and even more so, finishing, begins with preparation. And facing the basement with stone, tiles or brick is no exception.
The list of these works depends on design features foundation walls, their height, quality, presence or absence of blind area.
So:

  • Under the stone cladding performed by the glue method, the surface of the foundation walls must be leveled. If work is carried out on the plastered foundation of an old house, it must be completely cleaned, not relying on the apparent strength of the adhesion of the screed to the concrete.
After cleaning and removing dust from the surface, it is necessary to make a coating waterproofing using a penetrating primer or liquid glass.
  • If you are not going to insulate the basement, you can proceed with the installation of the plaster mesh. It can be dispensed with only if small-format stone, porcelain stoneware or agglomerate tiles are used.
All other types of stone, especially such heavy ones as quarry, paving stones, or the same besser, require a reinforcing mesh, and more. As preparatory work, a concrete blind area should also be equipped, on which the cladding will rest.

  • In a house under construction, it is more convenient to use the ledge of the strip foundation as a support. If it has a columnar or pile structure, between its supports, especially for cladding, they make a shallow strip foundation... We will not describe now technological process its fill, to familiarize yourself with it, you can watch the video.
  • Plinth finishing with heavy material, usually carried out in parallel with the construction of the walls. An ordinary stone: slab, tuff, or marl, are lightweight, and do not require additional such cardinal preparation. An ordinary metal corner can also serve as a support for the first row of such a cladding, it will also ensure the horizontality of the masonry.
  • If it is necessary to insulate the basement, before pulling the mesh, mount thermal insulation material... Mineral wool is not suitable for this purpose: it is attractive to rodents and perfectly absorbs moisture, which greatly reduces its service life, and it will not withstand the load from the weight of the stone.
For the basement, which will be faced with stone, it is better to take either expanded polystyrene or foam glass.

  • If you prefer the first option, take plates marked PSB-S35. The density of the PPS of this brand (25.1-25 kg / m3) allows it to withstand significant loads, even the weight of a hyper-pressed brick or rubble stone. For plaster, composite panels, tiles, mounted wireframe, you can take less dense (16-20 kg / m3) expanded polystyrene, grade PSB-S25F.
It is better not to use a low density material, which everyone knows as foam, for this purpose, if you do not want to ruin everything.
  • Foam glass is also available in slabs 600 * 300 mm in size, but of different thicknesses 50; 100; and 150 mm. They can be mounted both on special mastic and on the frame, since there are options with groove-ridge joints.
Moreover, they produce varieties of slabs with a front finish with stone chips, which simultaneously serve as both heat-insulating and decorative material.

  • After the insulation is finished, it remains finishing... The installation of the stone is carried out on glue specially designed for this purpose.
Heavy types of stone can be laid on a regular solution, only you need to add either PVA glue or a liquid plasticizer, which is sold in plastic canisters, and is usually dosed at the rate of 1 liter per 100 kg of solution. In any case, this information will be indicated on the packaging.

If you turn to the services of specialists, the prices for lining the basement will depend on the type and size of the stone, the method of installation - and on the region, of course. Facing with stone tiles of a small format, without insulation, will cost at least 1200 rubles / m2.
If the stone has to be sorted, selected according to its configuration, cut, anchored, such work will cost from 3000 rubles / m2. And if you need to revet not only the basement, but also the walls, the cost of finishing will increase exponentially.
So, learn to do everything yourself, take your work seriously - and you will succeed!

The construction of any building always begins with laying the foundation. This is an integral part construction works, without which it will not be possible to achieve the strength of the structure and its balance.

Most often, the foundation rises above ground level by several centimeters, and sometimes even meters. This part is called the base. Naked concrete wall looks unsightly from an aesthetic point of view, so designers recommend decorating it.

Installation of panels on the basement of the house

There are many different materials for decoration, which differ:

  • the price;
  • quality;
  • operational ability;
  • physical and technical characteristics.

Before starting construction work, namely laying the foundation, you need to think in advance about what type of material you would like to finish the basement of the building. In this case, one should take into account the features of the exterior, climate and financial capabilities.

In addition, you need to know and clearly understand what exactly the finishing with facing materials is needed for: is it just an aesthetic whim or important detail designs?

For the majority of people external design the house is one of the important points in its construction. Similar nuances are negotiated in advance with builders, designers and architects.

Facing the plinth with decorative tiles

However, few people know that plinth cladding is not only about decorating cold sloppy concrete. Finishing work initially has a completely different purpose:

  1. Protection of the foundation from damage. Colonies of fungi or mold can grow on the concrete over time. Also, the plinth is not protected from damage by corrosion and erosion. Constant rain, snow, frost or heat contribute to the appearance of cracks, splits, which in turn threaten the integrity of the building.
  2. Contamination protection. The environmental situation in the world contributes to the fact that acid rain falls, and polluted air contains elements that destroy even concrete. If the base often lends itself to such contamination, then very soon it will begin to deteriorate beyond repair. The result will be the irreparable destruction of the house. The cladding saves the foundation from such processes.
  3. Insulation function. Despite the fact that the basement is much lower than the floor of the living quarters, its excessive cooling helps to reduce the temperature in the house. This is due to the fact that the concrete instantly absorbs the cold and spreads it vertically along the walls. Even an insulated floor cannot always prevent this process. This consumes colossal financial resources for heating. However, there is little result from this. In addition, due to the effects of cold, erosion processes can begin or mold can grow, for which cold and dampness are the ideal environment for existence.
  4. Protection from external influences. The strength and durability of concrete, brick and any other foundation is influenced by weather and atmospheric conditions. Ultraviolet radiation gradually destroys the structure. Strong winds, frosts, excessive air humidity, etc. also have a negative impact. Cladding materials protect against such factors, which can be replaced without problems if necessary. The situation with the base is much more serious.

Based on the above factors, we can conclude: finishing the basement is a necessity. No builder can guarantee the strength and reliability of a building without finishing.

Plinth trim options

To prevent the destruction of the foundation and ensure comfortable living conditions in the house, the base must be finished with facing materials. You can choose the colors and textures that match the rest of the building materials.

There are also special wall insulation systems. You can choose a protective coating against corrosion, erosion, mildew and mildew.

If you are unsure which type of cladding is best, consult a specialist. The architect or builder who builds your home is competent in this matter.

Cladding option 1: Plastering or painting

Plastering is considered the most popular method of processing a base. Its fame is associated with affordability and reliability. A layer of plaster strengthens, decorates and protects the structure from environmental influences.

Plastered basement of the house

Features of the material.

In order for the plaster to perform its function, you must follow the rules for its application:

  • The level of protection and thermal insulation depends on the thickness of the layer. The thicker the layer, the better.
  • For a durable and moisture resistant finish, apply a cement base before plastering.
  • The coverage will be uniform when two coats are applied. Use decorative plaster as a final coat.
  • Reinforcement of the structure will help to avoid cracking and falling off of the top layer.

Important: The classic cement-sand mortar is best suited for covering the gap. Apply a composition designed for facade decoration on top.

Installation.

Plastering the basement of the house

Step-by-step instructions for plastering a plinth

Free the basement gaps from excess layers and remove dirt and dust. Get rid of the oil stains as well.

Prime the clean surface with a primer.

Stuff plaster mesh... For 1 sq. m must be at least 16 fasteners. It will be better if you make 20. Use dowels with wide caps.

Screw in the screws and attach plumb lines to them. The distance between the screws and the corners of the wall is 30 cm. Pull the thread vertically over the loose screws. Connect the screws with horizontal threads. Place the threads at a distance of 2 cm from the wall.

Make beacons and fix them cement mortar... The step is 1.5-2 m. The distance to the corners is 30 cm. The most reliable material of the beacons is a steel profile.

After the cement has set, add a sand-cement mortar between the beacons. Use a scoop for throwing, level the protrusions and depressions using the rule. Leave to dry for 6 hours.

Remove the beacons and trowel the surface with a plaster float.

Cover the plinth with plastic wrap. Leave to harden for 2 weeks. Moisten the surface with water once every 2-3 days. This will aid aging.

Prime the base and cover it with decorative plaster.

Advantages.

Cladding plaster is chosen for the following reasons:

  • Relatively low cost of materials and installation work.
  • Installation is done by hand: no special tools and equipment are required.
  • Simple renovation.
  • Reliable coverage.
  • Possibility of applying decor.

Flaws.

The negative features of plaster include:

  • Low level of strength in comparison with analogues.
  • Short service life.
  • Low rate of thermal insulation.
  • Water and moisture permeability.
  • Strength deteriorates over time due to freezing and thawing.
  • Do not install if direct sunlight falls on the structure. Subzero temperatures and precipitation is also a constraint for the operation.

Since plaster and paint slough off quickly, you need to constantly monitor the condition of the coating on the facade and make cosmetic repairs regularly.

On a note.

  • You can cover the base with several layers of plaster yourself. To do this, you do not need to perform any preliminary work. It is enough to buy plaster of the desired color and cover the concrete with it in several layers.
  • If for some reason you do not want or cannot plaster the base yourself, hire a master - a plasterer. A professional to do this work for you quickly and efficiently. However, do not forget that good specialists do not come cheap. But the result is worth it: the plinth will be durable and protected from all kinds of damage.
  • If you are not satisfied with the color of the plaster, then after drying, you can apply two layers of facade paint on top. Today there are more than 50 shades that can be used to decorate the foundation. In addition, special decorative plaster is sold in building materials stores. different colors and textures.
  • An interesting option would be to decorate the facade with homemade stones. They can be molded from ordinary concrete. To do this, shape the stones into the desired shape with a spatula and let them dry. Then cover the artificial stones with paint or plaster. This design is cheap, but it will look great.

Cladding option 2: Use of natural and artificial stones

To make the facade look elitist and rich, use stone cladding. Each stone has its own advantages and characteristics. Experts advise to consult with builders or architects before buying, since in a particular case this or that stone may not be suitable. Taken into account: the strength of the foundation, weather conditions and the size of the house.

Types of stone.

Types of stone for facing the basement

In addition to choosing between artificial and natural stone, decide on the texture. The stone comes in the following textures:

  • smooth;
  • polished;
  • chipped;
  • sawn.

Peculiarities natural stone.

Natural stone has various shapes: rectangle, square, circle, non-standard (made to order).

Also has different thicknesses: 0.5 and 1 cm.

This thickness is determined by the ease of installation and the durability of the structure. As the thickness increases, the stone becomes heavy and there is a risk of delamination.

The positive features of natural stone include:

  • High level of durability.
  • The surface is manufactured using special equipment. Therefore, the coverage will be uniform without additional work.
  • Long service life: more than 10 years.
  • Installation can be done by yourself.

The complexity of the finish is determined by the size of the stone and the tools for the work. You also need to consider that stone is a heavy material. Therefore, not every surface is suitable for cladding. In cases where the surface cannot withstand the stone, it must be strengthened.

How to prepare the surface:

Installation of stone on a reinforcing mesh

Important: The tight fastening of the mesh is ensured by the metal bladders. Screw them into the mesh.

After reinforcement, level the surface with plaster or concrete mortar. Remember that the concrete mortar cannot be smoothed with sandpaper.

For cladding, you will need the following materials:

  • building level;
  • concrete solution;
  • putty knife;
  • tile cutter.

Tips for veneering:

  • Do the work from the bottom up.
  • First of all, lay out the corners, fasten them tightly.
  • Create additional insulation with the following materials: foam, extruded polyurethane foam, foam, rock wool. This is necessary because the stone itself is cold.

Facing with artificial stone.

Natural stones look noble, but they have significant drawbacks: high weight and high cost. Therefore, if you do not pretend to be aristocratic and royal nobility, artificial materials may well replace natural ones. The main thing is to choose the right shape, texture and type of attachment.

Plinth trim with artificial stone

Surface types:

  • smooth;
  • torn;
  • structural;
  • embossed.

For cladding used: shell, granite, sandstone, etc. (see table below).

A feature of artificial stone of different structures is the ability to create an individual facade of the house. For such purposes, a stone with a torn structure is most often used.

Artificial stone decoration is practically no different from the technology of facing with natural material. The recommendations for leveling and insulation are similar.

Differences in technology:

  1. There is no need to insulate the surface, since the artificial material is lighter.
  2. You can finish any surface when you close the insulation layer with materials such as drywall, plywood or OSB. The installation of the stone is carried out directly on top of these materials.

For installation, concrete mortar and ceramic adhesive are used. A firm and fresh surface is ensured by applying a layer of primer.

When finishing decorative stone the following works are being carried out:

Features of natural and artificial types of stones.

Find out the features of the most popular stones from the table below:

Cover type Material Photo Advantages Peculiarities
A natural stone Shell rock
Low cost, high strength, visual appeal.Heavy weight, difficult to lay.
Limestone
Affordable price, decorative effect, the ability to choose a shape, color and texture.Heavy weight, difficult to operate, risk of heavier foundation.
Granite
Exquisite and rich appearance, resistance to cold and heat.High cost, heavy weight, risk of foundation collapse.
Marble
Durability, aristocratic and rich appearance, 100% protection from damage.High cost, complexity in installation and operation, heavy weight.

Option number 3: Brick or brick finish

Brick or its imitation is a classic finish. The material is suitable for any type of exterior, without imparting a low cost to the structure.

Brick can be combined with any type of wall and roof decoration, as it looks equally neat and harmonious with all building materials. A special substrate is made under the brick, which serves as insulation for walls and floors in residential premises.

The advantages of bricks.

The positive aspects of finishing the basement with brick:

  • High degree of structural strength.
  • The ability to carry out the installation yourself.
  • No care needed.
  • Service term - over 10 years.
  • High maintainability.

How to choose the right brick?

If the foundation is designed for heavy loads, choose a regular building brick. If the building is on a pillar or strip foundation, use lightweight facing bricks.

Properties that a good brick should have:

  • Low moisture absorption coefficient.
  • Frost resistant, tolerates low temperatures... Frost resistance is determined by the endurance of the thawing and freezing cycles.
  • High tensile strength, since the plinth accounts for part of the weight of the walls.

Preparatory work.

The plinth is finished with bricks at a distance of 2-3 cm from the external insulation of the walls. This creates ventilation and prevents the accumulation of moisture. Mortar-free seams, which must be left in the first row, will also contribute to normal ventilation.

Brick plinth trim

The cladding and load-bearing walls are connected in two ways:

  1. Placement of galvanized anchors. One end attaches to load-bearing wall, the second - between the rows of masonry.
  2. Fixing the dowel, tied with wire. The ends of the wire are attached between the rows.

Important: Each 1 sq. m must have at least 5 bundles with the load-bearing wall. Place them horizontally every 50-70 cm, vertically every 3-4 rows. In the openings, make a tighter strapping.

Solution preparation methods:

  1. Cement and sieved sand 1: 4.
  2. Cement, sifted or river sand, limestone paste 1: 7: 2 or 1: 8: 2.

Add water and stir. Make balls from the resulting mixture: they will not crumble in your hand.

The cement sets quickly enough. Therefore, prepare the solution in small batches.

Layout features.

Accuracy and accuracy in the formation and jointing of joints are 2 basic rules for laying a basement with a brick.

Consider the methods of cladding over the foundation.

Chain dressing of masonry.

Lay out 2 rows of bricks to hatch inner wall... Level the height of the masonry with the help of brick scraps. They are attached above the rows, laid with their end to the load-bearing wall.

Use a multi-row dressing system. Remove bandages after every third row.

Pay attention to the condition of the foam concrete: if it is poorly dried, after a while the bonded brick, clamped in the rows, can be cut off. This is due to the different degree of brick and foam concrete shrinkage.

Important: So that the shrinkage does not stop, the foam concrete blocks must lie down for some time before starting construction work.

If the final surface will be laid out decorative bricks, start with the installation of the facing verst.

1 row is stacked with a poke, the 2nd and 3rd - with a spoon.

If using trim brick halves, poke them.

Reverse styling.

This method differs from the previous ones in the order of laying. First, a number of external finishes are laid, then an internal verst and a backlog are built.

In this case, perform the ligation with bonded masonry. Since the bonded masonry is two rows high, the dressing is halfway into the finishing row.

The main advantage of this method is the reliable fastening of internal and external walls.

  • When applying the mortar, make sure that it does not reach the edges of the brick.
  • Wipe off excess solution.
  • After laying several rows, wipe the walls with a damp cloth.

Features of the types of bricks are presented in the table:

Cover type Material Photo Advantages Peculiarities
Natural brick Hyperpressed
Available in different sizes (Russian, American).
Strong, durable.
The most difficult option, does not absorb water well.
Silicate
More economical option... It has a light weight, easy to operate.Fragile as a facing material, poor hydro and thermal insulation.
Ceramic
The best option for cladding among all types of natural bricks. It has an internal filled structure, light weight and high strength. The material is easy to use, quite high price.
Artificial brick Clinker tiles
For technical and physical characteristics not inferior to natural brick.Lightweight, easy to handle.
Plinth panelsIt looks like a real brick, you can order a panel with insulation.Has a polyurethane or polystyrene foam base, easy to install and use.

On a note: If you decide to finish the plinth with a brick or "like a brick", make a separate strip foundation for the facing material. The brick is laid with a small gap from the wall, and the cladding foundation must be attached to the main foundation.

Option number 4: Siding as a finish

It so happens that brick and natural materials should never be used to decorate a particular building. However, the plaster may not fully satisfy the aesthetic needs. In this case, it is best to give preference to basement siding. It comes in the form of panels and simulates the pattern, color and texture of a natural material. Moreover, siding can be used to decorate not only the basement, but all the walls completely.

Base / plinth siding options

On a note: To make the siding walls and the same basement look harmonious, it is recommended to select the material of different colors for their finishing. As a rule, more suitable for the base dark shades, and the walls need to be revetted with light siding.

The material consists of the following components:

  • polyvinyl chloride;
  • fiber cement;
  • polymer sand mixtures, etc.

Types of siding.

It is mainly used for roof sheathing. It can be either solid or perforated to provide better roof ventilation.

There are three subtypes:

  • Herringbone

  • Double herringbone

  • Ship bar

Such panels are used exclusively for vertical mounting.
Metal siding "under the bar". This type of siding externally imitates a round log and is similar to a block house type of wood paneling.

Metal siding "under the bar"

The siding is equipped with special panels for fastening. This leaves a gap between the cladding and the wall. It should be filled with insulation or shellfish. Thus, the structure becomes more durable and the level of thermal insulation of the house increases.

In hardware stores, you can choose any color, texture and shape of building siding panels. In addition, there are original options imitating not only stone and brick, but even wooden beams, roughly chipped shingles, ship boards, etc.

The benefits of siding.

How to veneer a plinth with siding

Siding is chosen due to a long list of positive features:

  • Easy installation without calling a specialist. Parts are connected with locks and latches. Fastening - screws and nails.
  • The panels do not lose their original appearance: they do not deform or fade.
  • The surface material does not lend itself to peeling and delamination.
  • Siding panels are not chipped or scratched. They are not afraid of wind pressure and shock.
  • The structures are durable: they serve for more than 50 years.
  • The material can withstand temperatures in the range from -50 to +50 degrees, does not lend itself to ultraviolet rays.
  • The panels look like natural materials.
  • PVC does not rot or corrode.
  • The material is not interesting for insects, small rodents and other pests.
  • Easy maintenance: rinsed with water and detergent once a year.

Installation.

Instructions for finishing work in the plinth area using siding:

Clean the plinth, remove protruding parts, repair cracks and other defects.

Attach the profile strips to the wall. Use dowels for fastening. Fix the lower plank horizontally. It should be located 2-3 cm from the ground. The top bar is attached at the top. Parallel to the upper and lower strips, the middle one is attached, exactly in the middle.

Lay the layer mineral wool and cover with a windscreen. You can use expanded polystyrene.

Make a starter strip along the bottom plank. The strip must run horizontally.
Measure the distance between the basement and the wall. These data will be the dimensions of the corner strip. Attach the corner strip to the corner to the left of the structure.

Cut the panel along the left edge. Then slide it into the starter bar and slide it into the corner. Leave a gap of 6-10 mm. When fixing, do not tighten the screws to the end by 1-2 mm.

Next, do everything in the same way up to the corner. Cut the panel in front of the corner and insert it into the starter strip. Align with the previous part and secure. Put the bar on the corner and fix it.

Close the top edge with a cornice. You can also use the finish bar for this purpose.

Installation of ebbs for finishing the plinth

First of all, it is worth noting that the base / plinth can have different locations. The most successful option is the one in which the foundation protrudes slightly forward from behind the walls, forming a small step. This arrangement is ideal as the plinth is protected from excessive moisture, dirt, etc.

Installation of ebbs

However, it must be remembered that the installation of ebbs is a mandatory stage of facing. Otherwise, the finish won't make any sense.

Types of ebb

There are such types of ebb tides, depending on the material of their manufacture:

Installation

Ebb fasteners to protect the cladding

Step-by-step instructions for installing an ebb tide:

Important: To prevent water from retaining at the drain, bend the side of the visor facing the wall up, and the opposite side down.

Important: If you knock on the plastic with a hammer during bending, damage the structure. Place a rubber pad over it. Felt can be used for the same purposes. Leave one edge unbent.

Black high-gloss option

Basement ebb prices

Ebb on the base

Video instruction for the installation of ebbs on the base

Consider the following nuances when installing basement sills:

  • To avoid distortions, be sure to make markings before fastening to the foundation.
  • Flush joints with frost-resistant sealant.
  • Cut out the outer and inner corners from a solid bar.
  • The width of the low tide should be no more than 50 cm.
  • If the house is wooden, take care of reliable waterproofing: make a polymer or copper coating.

There are a lot of options for finishing the basement and ebb. The main thing is to reasonably calculate how much building material is needed and which cladding will look the most advantageous, while being suitable for the type of structure. You also need to assess financial and physical capabilities. Initially, it is better to entrust the work to specialists in order to avoid annoying mistakes due to inexperience.

Sooner or later, any homeowner is faced with the fact that it is time to renovate a house or office building or simply improve it. When choosing materials for the facade and roof, one should not forget about such an important structural element as the basement. Its finishing needs to be taken care of separately, but naturally, it should be combined with the overall appearance, style and materials. There can be several options for the basement device: flush with the building wall, protruding and sinking - the choice of finishing material and application technology will also depend on its initial structure.

Base / plinth finishing options

To date, construction companies that carry out turnkey repairs offer several options for finishing the basement:

  • plaster,
  • mosaic plaster,
  • brick,
  • clinker tiles,
  • natural stone
  • artificial stone
  • professional sheet

How to choose a cladding for a basement and what each of the materials is, now we will figure it out.

Naturally, such a ubiquitous material as plaster cannot but be used in the decoration of the basement sections of the facade. A plastered plinth will look beautiful and stylish if you choose the right type of material that successfully complements the style of the building, and, of course, it is applied with high quality.

This material is strong enough to provide the exterior protection of a building. But, of course, it cannot compete with stone or siding trim in terms of durability. However, it is worth noting that in conditions of high atmospheric humidity, exposure to ultraviolet rays and chemical corrosion, plaster, as a finishing material, has shown itself to be quite worthy. And as for the breadth of the assortment, plaster, perhaps, will be the first among all other finishes.

The variety of types, textures and shades suitable for finishing the basement is simply amazing. In any hardware store on the shelves there are at least the most common:

  • structural,

You can use classic textures, or you can bring a little of your imagination into the execution of the finish and get a unique, original design... As for the shades, in addition to the available dyes - there is also a huge selection of them, you can order a professional tinting exactly in the shade you dream of.

Recently, plastering of a plinth "under a stone" is gaining popularity. This is natural - the craze for finishing with stone, natural or artificial, has entailed all sorts of ways to reduce the cost and simplify finishing work.

It goes without saying that performing imitation of stone with plaster is much more economical and faster than laying natural stone.

The most common types of stucco designs are marble, granite or sandstone imitations. Latex-based plasters can additionally provide an antiquated effect - cracked stone. In the same way, you can perform visual analogs of other materials - wood, timber, pebbles and many others.

The advantages of plaster as a finishing material for lining the basement are obvious:

  1. Easy to apply. Even textured decorative plasters are quite capable of applying independently, without special skills in construction work.
  2. There is no need to use special construction tools or equipment. Plasters are sold both in dry form, where you just need to add water and stir the solution, or as a ready-to-use mixture.
  3. The widest range of colors, textures, application options- all types of plasters and designs that can be obtained with their help are even difficult to voice within the framework of one article.
  4. Plaster is easy to tweak or fix. Perhaps this is one of the easiest materials to repair. Moreover, you can do this, again, with your own hands.
  5. Well, and undoubtedly, the dignity is the price of this material.

In addition to its advantages, plaster has quite understandable drawbacks. Among them it is worth noting:

  1. Coating strength not particularly high. Yes, this material is able to protect from external influences, however, it loses to a large extent to other possible finishing options, which are an order of magnitude more reliable.
  2. Not durable. No matter how competently the plaster is made, even if the application technology is strictly observed, the plastered surface will not last as long as marble, this should not be expected.

Plaster, despite its significant shortcomings, has been used for a long time for finishing the basement of buildings; it looks beautiful and harmoniously combines with other finishing materials. And given its low cost, it can be updated as it wears out.

The material itself is mosaic plaster, roughly speaking, a mixture of crumb and resin. Modern plasters are produced on acrylic resin, which has wonderful plastic and strength characteristics. This makes mosaic plaster not only a beautiful, but also a durable material for decorating the basement of a house.

The crumb can be of different sizes. There are three types of particle sizes: fine, medium and coarse. Which one to choose is determined by the buyer at his discretion and based on the general design of the building's decoration.

Before starting finishing, the base is also prepared in a standard way: cleaning from dust, priming. If there are no too noticeable irregularities, then there is no need to level them - this will be done by plaster.

Mosaic plaster is sold ready for use. Usually it is packed in plastic buckets of various sizes. The mixture has the desired consistency and shade. When buying material, always try to calculate the required amount as accurately as possible and provide for a small margin. Pay attention to the batch number and production date - different batches may have different colors, which will be very noticeable on the finished base.

There is nothing difficult in applying plaster; even people who do not have finishing skills can cope with this matter. Usually plaster is applied with a metal scraper, while it is important to observe the thickness of the layer and apply the material in one direction - so that no smears are noticeable.

If you decide to entrust the finishing to professionals, then they will most likely prefer the automated method of application - spray. Application in this way is much faster and easier, but, of course, not everyone has a spray.

Mosaic plaster can last a long time without changing its appearance. It is a beautiful, durable and comfortable plinth finish. It does not require any maintenance, retains its appearance throughout the entire period of operation.

Without unnecessary exaggeration, this is the most common type of basement decoration for residential buildings.

  1. Firstly, a brick base is durable, beautiful and goes well with other materials.
  2. Secondly, which is important for home craftsmen, it is quite possible to do it with your own hands.
  3. Well, and thirdly, brick is probably one of the most unpretentious building materials to maintain, therefore, having completed a high-quality finish only once, you can confidently expect that it will last for many years.

As a last resort, if some part of the masonry becomes unusable, it can be partially replaced and general form will not suffer from this.

The brick base is frost-resistant and at the same time, it is not afraid of the scorching sun rays. This is also a definite plus of the material and makes it available for any region of our country.

Also, due to the growing demand for environmentally friendly materials, it should be noted that brick is just one of them - it is completely harmless to human health and the environment. Modern brick manufacturers can boast of decent equipment and quality materials. On the shelves of building hypermarkets, you can find many varieties of bricks - for every taste and imagination of the buyer.

The last priority advantage of the brick finish of the basement is its low cost - in comparison with other materials, this is perhaps the most budgetary one, but at the same time its appearance does not lose to the rest.

The finish of the basement with clinker tiles is visually completely identical to the finish with brick. But, of course, much cheaper and easier to implement.

Before starting finishing work, the base of the plinth must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt, if this is not done, the adhesive mixture will be unevenly applied, which can lead to shedding of the tiles. The base on which the clinker tiles will be laid must be even and strong - if there are cracks or damage on it, they must be repaired in advance, the same applies to irregularities - they must be leveled, otherwise, the tiles simply cannot be laid in an even layer. Immediately before laying, it is advisable to prime the base well with a special solution - a primer. This will reduce the consumption of the adhesive and improve its adhesive properties.

It is necessary to lay the tiles strictly according to the level, otherwise the rows may turn out to be uneven, visually it will be very noticeable and will require laborious alteration. They always start from the bottom row, and only after laying it along the entire perimeter of the structure, they begin the next one - and so on.

A steel trowel is perfect for gluing tiles. His smooth side we apply glue to the base, and then, we pass through the solution with the side with teeth - this way, we get the required thickness for gluing the tiles, and the embossed surface will allow the tile to anchor more firmly on the wall.

The last stage is grouting the joints between the tiles. The grout must be selected in accordance with the parameters of use, namely: resistant to moisture and temperature extremes. Such a tool will not be cheap, however, its effectiveness will pay off already in the very first winter.

Clinker tiles are often used for base / plinth finishing precisely because of their great similarity with brickwork... It can also be used both in whole and in part - for finishing only the basement, corners of the building, or highlighting any elements of the structure.

Facing the plinth with natural stone

Of course: beautiful, expensive, natural. It is impossible to argue with the assertion that a base made of natural stone looks very elegant and is able to complement, or even beautify, the overall appearance of the facade.

When planning stone finishing, be sure to pay attention to its quality - the durability and strength of the base will depend on it.

In this case, several types of stone can be used:

  1. River stone. He not only has a beautiful appearance, but also perfectly shows itself when interacting with atmospheric phenomena. River, like sea natural stone contains in its composition a large amount of mineral salts, which makes it practically invulnerable to precipitation, adhesion of snow or ice.
  2. Limestone. The stone is quite durable and at the same time, not particularly expensive.
  3. Marble. Naturally, a very expensive pleasure, but if you consider how durable and resistant to any kind of impact, both mechanical and atmospheric, the material is, then its quality justifies its cost. Moreover, for finishing the basement, it will not be needed very much.

Whatever type of stone you use, you can immediately highlight the advantages of such a finish:

  1. Naturalness. Accordingly, it is a completely environmentally friendly material that is safe for health.
  2. Durability. Stone finishes can maintain their appearance for centuries. This is especially true for marble, river or sea stone.
  3. Unique design- nature itself has tried, painting stones, their unique texture and coloring, of course, are able to decorate any building object. By decorating the basement with natural stone, you will provide the building with a spectacular appearance.

The advantages of natural stone are obvious even for an amateur in construction work, however, it also has disadvantages, which you also need to be aware of when planning the finishing of the basement.

  1. Finishing the basement with natural stone must be done after the house has completely shrunk. Since, as already mentioned, the stone is one of the most durable materials, it is unable to undergo virtually any surface tension. Hence the simple conclusion - it will be correct to finish the basement with natural stone only after the building has completely shrunk. Naturally, this is impossible for a new building - since shrinkage can occur for a long time - everything here will depend on the type of soil and the building itself. Otherwise, when settling, the base, trimmed with natural stone, will acquire not beautiful cracks at all, possibly spontaneous material falling off.
  2. The second important drawback also smoothly follows from the dignity of the stone - it is its weight... Anyone understands that a natural stone base is not only beautiful and durable, but also very heavy. And not every facade can withstand such a weight painlessly. Professional construction companies, when planning the laying of a stone basement, always calculate the strength characteristics of the building and its ability to withstand such loads.
  3. The third drawback will be elementary the cost of this natural material., especially with regard to marble, river or sea stone - these varieties, unfortunately, are expensive, and not every homeowner can afford it.

Natural stone is not only a strong and durable finish, it is beautiful, elegant and expensive - both literally, financially, and figuratively - visually. Of course, it makes no sense to combine such material with frankly cheap wall decoration - the stone is quite demanding in terms of the overall concept of decoration.

Decorating the basement of the house with artificial stone

Naturally, given the high cost of natural stone, the construction market has found a way out for more economical buyers. In this case, it is an artificial stone. Outwardly, it is almost completely identical to natural stone - it can repeat the texture of the stone, even taking into account its variety - river, sea, marble, and so on.

Thanks to the progress made in the construction industry, artificial stone made of concrete, with the help of special dyes, acquires a color similar to that of natural stone.

Artificial stone is sold in various sizes - you can choose large or small stones, depending on the design of the building and your taste. You can choose stones correct shape or shapeless. In any case, when choosing an artificial stone, you need to pay attention to its quality - the material must be made carefully and be as similar as possible to a natural analogue.

Artificial stone is laid on a regular or special adhesive solution, after cleaning the base from contamination. The seams are filled with mortar and embroidered, like brickwork.

The main advantage of artificial stone is its much lower cost than natural one. Outwardly, it looks impressive, given the large assortment of colors, textures and shapes, but the price is at least three times lower.

However, this material also has a significant drawback - its small, in comparison with natural stone, durability. In order to somehow increase the resource of finishing with artificial stone and extend its presentation, after it is laid and fully secured, the finished base is treated with special strengthening solutions - this event allows you to extend the life of the finishing by four to five years.

Currently, perhaps one of the most common finishes - both the walls of the house and its basement. Such popularity is ensured by the availability of the material, its widest assortment - in building hypermarkets, siding panels are presented in huge quantities, their color and texture can satisfy the most demanding buyers.

Siding has long been widely used in European countries for finishing buildings, in recent years it has flooded our market as well. The demand for this material in the coming decades is due to its obvious advantages over others:

  1. Siding is the easiest material to repair. That is, if suddenly there is a need to replace some part of the area trimmed with siding, then it is not problematic to do this - the main thing is to have the same material - from the same batch as the one being replaced. The surest solution here is to just buy it a little more, so that then you have something to replace it with.
  2. The material is very lightweight. When planning its installation, you do not need to calculate the load on the foundation, since it is completely insignificant. Siding can be finished without thinking about the strength of the walls of the building as a whole.
  3. For the installation of siding, a simple design is required- it is easy to perform, and the most interesting is that, using such a frame, you can put insulation inside, significantly reducing the heat loss of the building. The device of such a design allows the use of various types of insulation - from elementary to the most modern, and, moreover, in such a way that it will not be visually noticeable in the finished form.
  4. Siding has excellent operational properties : it can easily withstand any atmospheric phenomena - precipitation, wind, frost and heat without changing their properties or appearance. Some sellers of building hypermarkets discourage buyers from siding, citing the fact that, being in direct sunlight, colored types of this material can fade. In fact, this is not the case. Only material of poor quality or not intended for use in such conditions can burn out in the sun.
  5. A variety of textures and shades of siding. Of course, one cannot fail to note the variety of textures and shades of siding presented on the shelves of modern stores. Manufacturers produce siding that imitates stone, board, any natural materials, its shade can be very diverse. This is exactly the kind of material that can be easily matched to absolutely any style of the facade.
  6. Easy maintenance. Elementary simple care finished finishing also an important advantage. No need for any special means and events - siding is easily cleaned of dust and dirt with ordinary water.
  7. Ease of installation. Finally, for jack of all trades, the most important plus of this material will be ease of installation. It is quite possible to lay siding on your own, with only a superficial knowledge of construction or finishing work.

For all its indisputable advantages, siding, like any other material, cannot but have disadvantages. They are:

  1. Weak strength for mechanical damage. Unfortunately, such a convenient material in every sense can be easily damaged even without hitting it particularly hard. This is especially true in the case of finishing the basement - since it is just in the area of the most frequent mechanical damage.
  2. When installing siding panels, it must be borne in mind that the seams between them are rubbed with a special compound- this will make them invisible.
  3. By itself, siding is thin and cold. That is, if you do not plan to use it for it, think carefully about whether you will get a warm enough building after the renovation.

Despite the shortcomings, siding continues to be a popular finishing material today. It is used in a variety of cases, including for finishing the basement - this option goes well, both with the siding of the entire facade, and with other types.

Convenient and practical material for finishing many building objects, including the basement of the house. As you know, the base must be protected as reliably as possible from moisture, precipitation, sunlight and similar natural influences. - metal figured sheet, with a thickness of 0.5 to 0.9 mm - excellent for the installation of such protection.

The professional sheet can be offered for sale in different options in width, the height is usually equal to two meters. For finishing the basement, as a rule, an ordinary wall profiled sheet is used, it is designated by the brands PS-8, PS-10, S-8 and S-10. You should also pay attention to the color options, this material is presented in about fifty shades.

But it should be borne in mind that different manufacturers paint their products in different ways, therefore, you need to buy this material at a time, from the same batch - otherwise, there may be problems with the variance of the finished finish.

The corrugated appearance of the profiled sheet can be played up as a design move by placing the sheet both vertically and horizontally, and even diagonally to the main facade of the building.

Since the profiled sheet is attached to a specially arranged frame made of a U-shaped profile, then it is usually used in it to increase thermal insulation characteristics the buildings.

Among the clear advantages of the profiled sheet, the following should be noted:

  1. Good strength characteristics... Metal sheet - reliable and dignified, you can not be afraid of atmospheric phenomena.
  2. Quite interesting appearance- the main thing is to successfully select the rest Decoration Materials, harmoniously combining the profiled sheet with the appearance of the entire building as a whole.
  3. Resistant to corrosion- does not rust, since the profiled sheet is sold painted or galvanized.
  4. Fairly affordable cost.

The disadvantages of a professional sheet are:

  1. Low heat resistance. The profiled sheet itself is cold and without a special insulation system, it is not advisable to use it.
  2. Not suitable for every building style. Professional sheet - one might say, a minimalistic design that must be carefully combined with other materials.

Professional sheet - modern and original way basement finishes, there are not so many varieties of it, but still, from the produced colors you can choose exactly what you need. And as for durability and strength, here its properties are at their best.

The finish for the plinth must first of all be durable, so it is worth choosing a material that will be reliable and durable, while taking into account the current climatic conditions of operation. Secondly, the plinth finish decides a lot in the overall appearance of the building, the wrong color or texture can visually ruin the rest of the facade.

Therefore, it is important to take into account the compatibility of the material for finishing the basement with another finish. Both shades and relief are important here - they should be in harmony or be contrasting. A small but significant factor is also the style of the building. If this is a classic, then there is no need to trim the basement with a colored profiled sheet, and if we are talking about asceticism, then natural granite will be inappropriate here. These are, of course, more subtle nuances, but it is also advisable to pay attention to them, showing a sense of taste and proportion properly.

Currently, the construction market is so diverse, there is plenty to choose from. The most various materials, and in its appearance, and in characteristics, and in cost. The choice is yours!

The basement is one of the most important parts of a private house: it is designed to protect the house from deformation, withstanding temperature extremes, as well as numerous climatic precipitations. Therefore, the cladding of the foundation plays an important role in the construction of a house. In this article, we will give instructions on how to finish the basement with our own hands.

Finishing material

For the decoration of the base, the following are most often used:

  • Artificial or natural stone.
  • Siding.
  • Facade tiles or panels.
  • Professional sheet.
  • Special coatings.

The choice of one or another finishing material is due to both the preference of the owner of the house and his financial situation.

Artificial or natural stone

It is made from a concrete solution using certain dyes, as well as additives that allow the finishing material to withstand temperature extremes. Facing the plinth with artificial stone has a number of advantages:

  • Natural stone finish effect.
  • Inexpensive cost of finishing materials.
  • Long service life of artificial stone due to the increased strength of the material.

Natural stone is much more expensive than artificial, but it itself has a higher strength than artificial. Most often used in decoration:

  • Granite.
  • River (sea) stone.
  • Sandstone.
  • Marble.

Siding decoration

Recently, such a finishing material as siding has become increasingly popular. It is a panel made of a pressed polymer composite with the inclusion of various additives that impart strength to the material. Siding has a number of undeniable advantages:

  • Increased strength.
  • Resistance to various climatic precipitation: rain or snow, and temperature extremes.
  • Not picky about leaving.
  • Allows installation in any weather on any type of base.

If necessary, you can carry out preliminary work on the insulation of the basement.

Tiles or panels

Tiles or panels for external walls provide a wide opportunity not only for finishing, but also for decorating a private house. Such a finishing material is made of dense concrete with fine pores, which significantly increases the strength characteristics of the tiles. A wide range of colors allows you to choose the right shades, suitable for a given home.

Professional list

Profiled sheets are often used in decoration. However, in no case should it be used if the house was built from wooden beams... Since the profiled sheet is susceptible to corrosion when moisture enters it, it can contribute to the rapid decay of the wooden basement of the house.

Finishing process

Depending on the type of foundation and the chosen finishing material, the finishing technology may vary.

A plinth made of natural stone does not need finishing. However, a concrete or brick foundation requires finishing work. The pile foundation needs a reinforced frame on which the finishing material will be laid. Wooden house can not be finished until it shrinks.

If a pile foundation was erected during the construction of the house, you first need to build a frame around the basement. For this, both wooden slats and galvanized metal profiles can be used.

Wooden slats are short-lived. Therefore, making a choice in their favor, you need to understand that in a few years you will have to repeat Finishing work together with the replacement of the frame.

The frame is fixed on piles using self-tapping screws. A heat-insulating material is attached to the frame, which is primed with a special moisture-proof finishing material.

Concrete or brick foundation needs preparation: it must be free of dust and dirt; its surface must be leveled with a special solution. Only after that a moisture-proof primer is applied, on which the selected finishing material is subsequently laid.

Each finishing material for the foundation of a private house needs correct fit to the basement of the building. For example, façade tiles or panels require the use of a certain type of adhesive. Natural or artificial stone is "planted" on a concrete solution. The siding can be attached with both glue and self-tapping screws. Some types of panels or tiles for facade decoration have special grooves and ridges, with the help of which the elements are mounted with each other. In order for the finishing material to hold on to the plinth, it is necessary to support it with the help of special slats or overlays.

If finishing is planned, it should be borne in mind that it is advisable to make the basement a darker color than the main color of the facade. Some materials, for example, natural stone, need additional treatment with moisture-repellent agents, which will extend the service life of this finishing material.

From this video you will learn how to decorate a plinth with siding.

Finishing the basement of a private house is an important part of the ongoing construction work, on the quality and reliability of which the appearance of the structure under construction, and its original design, and the relative durability of the building depend.

The basement part, towering above the base of the building, needs to be protected. The decoration of the basement of the house is a decorative component, with the help of which the building can be given an original appearance.

This method will protect its underground part of the building and protect the bottom of the outer wall from negative influences.

Types of plinths and building materials

Decorating the basement with a stone will add presentability to the house

In deciding how to decorate the basement of a house, several components are usually taken into account. In this case, the presence of underground structures, the type of foundation used in the construction and the building material from which the house was built are of primary importance. Exterior decoration the stone basement is due to the reliable type of foundation, the desire to provide the house with a presentable and rich look, to confirm the reliability and massiveness of the structure.

Stone decoration is often used for certain types of basement, when the choice of decorative finishing of the foundation is not limited either by its reliability, or by the availability of free space, or by the desire to make it cheap.

Decorative tiles are lighter and cheap stuff

The relative massiveness of the stone and the lightweight material from which the walls were built, more often inclines the owner of the building to ensure that the lining of the basement of the house was made with decorative tiles, as a fairly reliable, but lighter building material.

The main parameter for choosing the finish and decorative component of the basement is the type of the bottom base of the outer wall, which was determined during the creation of the project. It is characterized in relation to the foundation and the upper part of the house and is equipped for practical reasons in different ways:

The cladding of the foundation of the house and the materials that are purchased for it are largely dictated by the structure of the basement chosen when creating the project.

Development modern production building materials diversified the usual list of raw materials, compared with that which was at the disposal of the developer earlier.

V fashion trends from modern home building designers - contrasting finishing of the foundation of the house, which is chosen as opposed to the material of wall decoration. Smooth walls dictate the embossed materials on the plinth, implying a smooth bottom finish to the outside.

Use of natural stone

Natural stone is not cheap, but it is strong and durable. This traditional type of building decoration has not gone out of style. An alternative to decorating a basement with natural stone can equally well be trimmed with granite, sandstone, limestone and marble.

Natural stone is an expensive material

For finishing, you should purchase a stone in the form of cut decorative tiles with a smooth polished or intentionally rough surface with preserved natural projections.

This is an expensive finish that costs even more money when unpolished to be natural than a smooth and sanded finish.

For porous stone tiles, waterproofing is required, which further increases the cost of finishing work.

Brief characteristics of facing materials

Clinker tiles are so decorative that they not only finish the foundation of a private house with it, but also use it in the interior as a facing material. Clinker tiles for facing the basement of a house are both decorative, practical, and at the same time they look quite expensive.

It can be used to decorate both the walls and the sidewalk near the building. An additional dominant of the finished building can be provided by choosing in a contrasting or well-harmonized color scheme tiles, and the color of the walls, a variety of shades produced on an industrial scale.

Ease of use and the fact that it can be glued with frost-resistant glue directly to the foundation of the house.

The plaster is applied in several stages

Decorative plaster is an excellent option for finishing the foundation with your own hands, which makes it possible for a comprehensive manifestation of imagination, from the color scheme to the creation of a variable structure.

However, for its application, a number of preparatory phases, not so much expensive as laborious, from priming to fiberglass reinforcement.

The plaster itself is also applied in several layers and covered with a protective layer, but it only lasts for several years.

Consideration of options for finishing the basement with decorative plaster is applicable only with a low construction budget.

PVC panels successfully imitate natural stone and tiles

PVC panels are an inexpensive material for plinth cladding, using which you can imitate any other building material and choose any shade of color for this.

DIY plinth decoration - great option for low-budget and short-term construction. He leaves a rich selection of imitating surfaces and their colors, to the consideration and whims of the future happy owner. Moreover, special panels for the foundation are produced, which exceed the usual ones in terms of strength and reliability. Wall panels made of PVC.

A reliable base is able to ensure the reliability of the building. When lining and insulating it, you should not save.

Choice of finishing materials

Materials for facing the foundation are selected taking into account the purpose and type of base. The type of base is used for reasons of presence or absence additional arrangement protecting the house from exposure weather conditions... For more information on how and what to decorate the basement of the house, see this video:

The main task of the basement is to protect the lower house base from pollution, erosion, natural precipitation and sunlight. All this in a cumulative effect, if the foundation is not reliably protected, in a few years even concrete can be destroyed.

Application different types the finish of the basement is of a predominantly protective nature, but at the same time the decorative component is also important.

DIY foundation finishing

The answer to the question of how to sheathe the foundation depends on what material the developer chose. Such work requires some special knowledge, but it is quite possible and feasible to do everything yourself.

To finish the house with your own hands using decorative plaster, you need to apply a primer layer, let it dry, very carefully apply a layer of putty, carry out reinforcement, and then, to finish the basement, apply a layer of decorative plaster with a spatula and form its texture.

It is more convenient to mount PVC panels on the frame

Decorative plaster it still needs to be sanded and painted, but in comparison with other types of work, it is inexpensive and completely reliable. Modern acrylic paints provide frost resistance, and it comes out beautifully enough.

For further decoration with bricks, tiles or PVC panels you can apply the finishing of the basement with concrete or ignore the finishing materials and just paint the even concrete surface polymer paint so as not to veneer. Concrete is applied to a metal mesh, which is fastened with dowels, after which a special formwork is built around the perimeter of the building, and the formation of a concrete base begins.

The disadvantage of poured concrete is the need to wait for it to dry, but its surface is suitable for many finishes. There are many things to consider when deciding how to veneer the foundation of a house.

Layered finishing of the basement with stone tiles

Natural stone will last for many years

The benefits of natural stone are undeniable, and overall, it is quite profitable investment money, considering that the stone for the basement can be used for many years, and with skillful handling, no work will be required for decades.

Stone facing tiles for the foundation gives the house a rich and solid look, is not afraid of moss, has undoubted ennobling properties, but this finish is more expensive than others.

In addition, it requires mandatory installation drainage system and exerts significant pressure on the foundation, therefore, it is relatively rarely used for the basement of private houses. Clinker bricks, polymer panels and artificial stone require approximately the same technique and amount of glue. More about finishing natural stone see in this video:

Finish the base brick house you can do it yourself, using almost any materials for strengthening and decorativeness, but for the use of each of them there are certain technological subtleties of the preliminary preparation of the facade.

Ebb tides will protect the basement and foundation from destruction

For the house, it is not so much the decorative as the protective component of the basement that is important. It should serve as a barrier to the dwelling from the lower base, therefore, the option of placing it flush with the walls does not carry any function, except for partial beauty.

The protruding version of the basement perfectly protects the foundation and underground insulated structures, but it is too vulnerable to weather conditions, and before deciding what to tile, you need to choose what to protect from precipitation from the roof. Otherwise, any decorative panels will become unusable after a few years. How to trim the ledge so that the ebb tides look harmonious must be decided even before the start of the tiled or panel cladding stage.

Ebbs can be made from polymer-coated metal sheets, clinker bricks, or common metal.

Base: ebb and insulation

Wood finishes are good for the respective homes and their durability can be ensured by the use of protective compounds. Stone and decorative tiles are an ideal but expensive option, the choice of which should be approached taking into account all the components.
