Interior finishing options for the front door. Do-it-yourself internal and external decoration of the front door

The most durable and high quality door is metal. Its inner side is part of the interior of a house or apartment, therefore, it must fit into the overall style; for this purpose, interior decoration of the entrance metal door may be required. High-quality interior decoration performs the following essential functions:

  1. thermal insulation;
  2. soundproofing;
  3. tightness;
  4. aesthetics.

The door can be decorated with massive handles, high-quality locks, eyes and other fittings. They also use special elements of hinged decor, which allow you to stylize antique, high-tech, Italian or Mediterranean style finishes.

First you need to figure out what are metal doors... The best ones are steel, they provide maximum protection. Most often steel structures- hollow inside to reduce their weight. There are also composite structures in which metal parts are combined with wood. Quality doors of this type are also quite reliable. The third type is aluminum. Despite the aesthetic appearance, the metal of such doors can be thin.

If funds permit, it is best to give preference to steel front door... And if you want to choose products best quality, pay attention to the following parameters:

  • the door must be made of metal sheets of sufficient thickness;
  • it must have stiffening ribs;
  • special pins may be provided in the design, limiting the possibility of removal from the hinges;
  • internal insulation;
  • seals around the perimeter of the structure;
  • several castles different types;
  • peephole with a wide viewing angle.

The decoration of the entrance metal door must be carried out in accordance with the following rules.

  1. It is necessary to provide sufficient insulation, since in severe frosts, the metal structure can freeze so much that frost appears on the inside. Therefore, from the inside, the structure is trimmed with wood, leather and other insulating materials.
  2. A high-quality finishing of the threshold and slopes must be performed without gaps, cracks and damage.
  3. If the finish is made of wood, special processing of this material is required, which will protect the surface from moisture and fungus. When finishing with other materials, you should also take care of their protection.
  4. It should be possible to easily remove the structure and then reinstall it, for example, to replace the lock.

Expensive way

The interior decoration should look impressive, have good resistance to mechanical stress. Therefore, natural wood is considered the best finishing option.

Solid wood

It is best to use solid wood, and for luxurious decoration, you can choose valuable wood: rosewood, yew, mahogany. Oak panels are of particular quality. Such finishing of entrance metal doors will last for more than a decade.

A less expensive option would be plain wood paneling. In this case, the tree must be treated with protective agents in order to avoid drying out due to temperature changes. This finish can be varnished and decorated with decorative elements. This is also a beautiful and durable option.

Budgetary way

If you weren't planning on spending substantial money on your front door, there are many budget options finishes. They are easy to use, and if necessary, such a coating is easy to replace. In addition to wood-imitating materials, leather, dermantine, powder coating can be used for the exterior of a metal door. All these options give room to the imagination and allow the most elegant decoration to fit into the surrounding interior.

Lining

Among the most common options in case you want to get a door with a wooden cladding is a lining. In addition, the finishing process is not too complicated, you can do it yourself, and finishing with clapboard with your own hands will significantly reduce the cost of repairs. To do this, you will need working tools that are in every home - a hacksaw and a screwdriver.

If you are endowed with creativity, then the lining can be laid not in a straight line, but diagonally, or alternate the direction, creating interesting patterns.

Laminate

Laminated fiberboard, commonly referred to simply as laminate. It looks neat and is inexpensive. You can choose the color and style depending on the furniture in the hallway. If the floor is covered with laminate, you can also do everything in the same style.

Dermantin

Dermantin was often used to decorate doors during the Soviet era. This is a fairly durable material that holds the insulation well, but it is powerless in front of sharp objects. If the upholstery of the entrance metal door is made of dermantine, it is better to avoid damage. At the same time, spot repairs are not enough, the insulation will come out and you will have to change the entire finish.

Artificial leather

It is a plastic material that allows you to create a beautiful surface. A wide variety of colors, a spectacular look, ease of cleaning - all these are undoubted advantages. With such cladding, entrance metal doors acquire good sound insulation, and in combination with insulation trim, this effect is enhanced. And for cleaning it is enough to wipe the cover with a damp cloth. In addition, this finishing option is financially beneficial.

Other options

In both composite and iron structures, upholstery fabric and wood are not the only materials that can be used to upholster an entrance metal door. There are several more options that are used a little less often in practice, but allow you to beautifully and neatly finish.

Wood veneer

Veneer is a thin piece of wood that is removed with a planer. The cut can be quite thin - only a few millimeters. Thanks to this, the veneer can be laid out in the form of a pattern and even formed into a mosaic. If you overlap the elements, you can design volumetric parts. The veneered structure should be treated with care, avoid moisture and direct sunlight.

Veneer can be made from natural wood or MDF. Depending on this, you can determine its durability - natural wood will last longer.

If you are planning to purchase wood veneer, it is best to opt for a glue-based product. It is laid on the prepared surface, forming a pattern, and then fixed with a hot iron or in another way according to the instructions.

Powder coated

Powder coating is a special paint that is applied to metal surface using a spray bottle. The paint contains protective polymers, which protects the metal from rust, as well as chips, scratches and other damage. This coating is versatile and inexpensive, you can choose any color that will fit into the interior of the room. In this case, the insulation is installed inside the structure. Powder coated metal doors work well for minimalist interiors and high-tech finishes.

Preparation tools and materials

The interior decoration of the entrance metal door will require the use of the following improvised means, which can also be used when exterior decoration:

  • a prepared panel or other elements (lining, veneer) that you will attach to a metal base;
  • screwdriver for fastening work;
  • a primer for metal, if the surface has not yet been processed;
  • fastening elements;
  • fittings that are installed after all work has been completed - doorknobs, peephole, locks and decor.

In addition, keep in mind that some finishes involve the complete dismantling of the door to complete necessary work... This applies, for example, to laminate finishes and bezels.

Entrance group finishing procedure

If the surface is not prepared for work, you must first thoroughly clean the metal with sandpaper, then degrease the surface with a solvent and cover it with a good metal primer. There are now primers that can be used to coat and rust, but it is still recommended to first perform the metal cleaning procedure. The primer will serve as the basis for the coating, protect the metal from corrosion and other harmful effects. This preparation must be done before installing any coating you choose.

When you have decided on the choice of material for finishing, you can proceed with the installation. There are two ways to fix cladding materials:

  • fastening from the inside of the door leaf;
  • screwing or gluing materials to the front surface of the canvas.

Panels from solid wood, MDF, as well as panels from other materials are fixed with self-tapping screws. On top, the screws are closed with overlays.

If you are installing lining, laminate or other type of material, you first need to prepare a frame made of wooden slats, which will be attached to the canvas using self-tapping screws. Insulation is placed in the cavity, and a lining or other material is installed on top, attaching it to the frame.

When cladding with artificial leather or dermantine, the panels are covered with the desired material, and then mounted on a metal surface.

Do not forget that when finishing wooden and metal doors, it is necessary to install a threshold, form slopes, and install seals for thermal insulation. To form slopes, the easiest way is to use drywall followed by plastering, and fill the voids with mineral wool. Polyurethane foam is often used for these purposes, but there is a danger that it will expand the voids, and the slopes will deform over time.

If you are finishing with clapboard with your own hands, then the slopes can also be trimmed with clapboard, it looks impressive.

In addition, there is the option of forming the slopes for the entrance door using plastic panels. This is the cheapest and easiest way to implement, besides, plastic panels are easy to clean. These panels look harmonious in combination with powder-coated doors.

Metal painting

If you plan to paint the surface, choose a quality paint. Aerosols are well suited for this purpose. acrylic paints... They are durable when applied to a metal surface and have anti-corrosion properties. They are often used when painting doors that are used in difficult conditions. The undoubted advantage is the large selection of shades.

Conclusion

A few more tips that can come in handy in your work, especially if you are doing the decoration yourself.

  1. On the upper slope, you can install lighting in the form of spotlights or LED strip. In this case, the light in the hallway can be turned off and limited to backlighting - this creates a cozy atmosphere, especially in combination with wood panels.
  2. A transparent silicone sealant can be used to better seal the joints during finishing. It will not be visible on the product, but it will reliably protect you from drafts from the street.
  3. Before applying paint, door handles, peephole and other elements should be removed or covered with masking tape. The paint is applied from a distance of 30 cm, evenly distributing. Several coats of paint are required to cover a metal door. Each layer should dry completely.
  4. Metal doors with a forged finish look beautiful. Handles and decor can be forged. You can install a bolt and decorate the door with old-style brackets.

The latest technologies open up a large number of possibilities for us, and interior decoration, including the choice of door finishes, is now limited only by the owner's imagination.

Even the most luxurious front door will look unpresentable if the slopes around it are sloppy. They are designed to serve as a beautiful frame, complement and highlight the main element -. To decide how to finish the slopes of the entrance door, you need to pay attention to its style, design and color scheme. The slopes framing the entrance inside the apartment must correspond not only to the decorative parameters of the door, but also to the design of the hallway.

In addition to a purely decorative function, these elements around should also serve as additional effective insulation, since their plane covers the joints between the door frame and the wall.

How can you trim the slopes?

The finishing of the slopes in the running door can be made from different materials, or you can simply put the existing slopes in order.

1. If the door is reliable and strong, but not outstanding in design, you can simply level the slopes with plaster, reinforcing their corners. Such work is usually carried out both from the side of the entrance and in the hallway.

Slopes can be neatly finished with plaster

Plastered slopes will look quite neat - they can be painted in a color close to the shade of the door itself or to match the wallpaper in the hallway.

2. In the case when the walls of the house are thick enough, and the slopes are wide, you can use for finishing with such familiar material as drywall. It will make the walls warmer and reliably close the joints between the door frame and the wall, giving the slopes a neat look.

Drywall, if desired, can be pasted over with wallpaper or covered with paint. The advantage of this material is that you do not have to painfully level the plaster using a rule and then clean the wall.

3. You can make slopes from natural wood if it is suitable for finishing the door. Wood has always been popular and has never gone out of fashion, it goes well with almost any interior, and its tint can be easily changed with the help of modern or folk remedies.

The tree will reliably serve for many years without changing its natural decorative properties. In extreme cases, it can be painted to match the color of the hallway.

4. An alternative to wood can be a laminated lining based on fiberboard.

Since the lining is made in different colors and imitates textured patterns of a wide variety of wood species, it can be matched to any design of the hallway. However, it is not recommended to trim the slopes from the outside of the door with this material, since it will not last long there.

5. Ready-made PVC panels can be another finishing option. They are produced in various widths and in a wide range of colors. The production and sale of such parts is carried out by specialized firms, in which there are masters who are engaged in installing panels.

One of the most successful solutions is carefully fitted PVC panels.

This finish looks respectable and aesthetically pleasing. PVC panels will last for a long time, but it is also better to install them from the side of the apartment, and from the side of the entrance use the first or second method described above for finishing.

If you are confident in your abilities, then the ready-made parts of the slopes can be installed on your own.

Another option for using polymers for finishing the inside of the door can be plastic lining. It is also easy to choose it to match the color of the walls of the hallway, since there is a wide range of this material on sale.

6. Sheathed slopes and chipboard panels - they are mainly used for very thick walls. However, it should be noted that at present this method of finishing is not very popular, since a large number of other materials have appeared that can easily replace these panels, which are quite heavy to install.

Nevertheless, if this material of the required dimensions was found at home, then it may well be used to decorate the door slopes from the side of the apartment.

It should be noted that there are other materials that can be used to tidy up the planes around the door, but the above options are the most popular.

Tools and building materials for finishing slopes

For finishing the slopes, you will need materials and tools that will help to carry out all the work neatly.

1. For plastering work you will need:

  • primer and finishing putty for surface preparation.
  • plaster mix or traditional cement mortar.
  • perforated metal corner for aligning corners.
  • a serpyanka mesh, a clerical knife and self-tapping screws will be needed if the slopes are made of drywall.
  • sandpaper coarse and fine-grained.
  • wide and medium spatula.
  • short rule for leveling the surface of slopes.
  • container for mixing the solution, a drill with a special mixing attachment
  • plumb line and level.

2. For the installation of panels made of different materials, it is necessary to prepare:

  • ready-made panels for installation on slopes or material for them.
  • decorative corners and platbands for closing panel joints.
  • timber with a section of 15 × 30 or 20 × 30 mm, if lining will be installed.
  • dowels for fixing panels or timber to the wall.
  • small nails and special holders for the lining.
  • hammer drill or hammer drill if the house has concrete walls.
  • self-tapping screws for fixing panels.
  • measuring instruments.
  • hacksaw or jigsaw, screwdriver, knife, hammer, etc.

Having prepared everything you need, you can proceed to surface preparation and installation.

Slope finishing technology in the running door

Each type of slope finishing work has its own characteristics:

  • The installation of many of the materials presented is carried out using the same technology.
  • Some of the finishing technologies are distinguished by their simplicity, and with the right approach to work, they can well be done independently.
  • Others can be used for independent use only if the homeowner has the necessary skills in working with building mixtures and tools.

All activities for the installation of slopes begin after the door is installed and all the gaps between the door jamb and the wall are sealed. In addition, all breakaway parts of the old pavement are removed from the slopes and crumbling areas are cleaned. When these works are carried out, they start finishing in the chosen way.

Plastering of slopes

If the decision is made to level and plaster the slopes, the process goes to following sequence:

  • First of all, the cleaned surface should be well primed, preferably in two layers, but the second time the primer is applied only after the first layer has dried.
  • Further, the evenness of the angles of the slopes is clarified. If deviations from the norm are determined, then this fact must be taken into account when installing reinforcing corners. They can align corners that have small deviations from the vertical.

  • Then it is necessary to set perforated corners at the corners of the slopes along the plumb line and level. They are best planted on a ready-to-use finishing putty. It is applied with a spatula to the corners of the slopes - the composition will serve for gluing the corner and makes it possible to align it to a perfectly vertical or horizontal position. Excess mortar that will show through the holes in the corner must be immediately removed with a spatula. Having brought the corners to the ideal, the solution under the corners is left to dry.
  • If the surface of the slope is uneven, then before installing the perforated corners on the corners, you can set the direction from the door jamb by fixing a narrow strip of drywall 8-10 mm wide along it. This material is fixed to the wall with a putty. If it is on a gypsum base, then it solidifies quickly enough.
  • The edge of the plasterboard strip and the installed reinforcing corner will become points that need to be connected with a putty solution and leveled with plaster.
  • Further, after drying the elements correcting the wall, the putty is diluted in the proportions indicated on the package to a pasty consistency.

  • Using a trowel, throw the finished composition onto the wall, starting from the floor. Having sketched the required amount, about a meter in height, the putty is leveled with a rule. In this case, beacons are a perforated corner fixed at the corner and a strip of drywall fixed along door frame.

  • Then the solution is poured onto the next section and is also leveled, and so on to the top of the opening.
  • It will be more difficult to putty the ceiling part of the opening. Putty is applied to it with a wide spatula and leveled with a short rule. Then putty is applied to the wall above the correct opening, and it covers the upper part of the metal corner.

  • The slopes treated with the putty are left to dry. The time of this process depends on the thickness of the layer and the composition of the putty.
  • After this layer has dried, you need to check the quality of the surface, remove possible minor imperfections - chip or clean the incoming irregularities. Then the slopes need to be removed with a finishing putty to perfect evenness.
  • Further, after the filler layer has dried, it is covered with a primer.

The resulting surface can be painted, wallpapered or finished with decorative plaster.

Plasterboard finishing of door slopes

It is easier and more pleasant to work with drywall than with the removal of slopes using plaster. Nevertheless, in this case, you still have to work with the finishing putty, which will play the role of an adhesive composition for drywall sheets, but it is still better to use a special gypsum-based glue, produced specifically for working with gypsum plasterboard, instead.

If space is limited, then drywall is perfect for decorating slopes. This process is carried out in the following sequence:

  • To begin with, all surfaces of the slopes are measured separately.
  • The obtained data is transferred to the sheets of gypsum fiber board, and elements are cut out from them, which will be fixed to the walls.

  • Installation of finished parts starts from the ceiling of the opening. To do this, glue is applied to the drywall blank in several slides, and then this element is firmly pressed against the installation site and fixed in this position by pre-prepared supports.

  • Then the sloping walls are finished with the details cut out from the gypsum fiber board. Glue is also placed on the prepared element in small slides, and the sheet is pressed against the wall and measured according to the level. Plasterboard sheets can be fixed to the wall with hammer-in dowels, making through holes for them, but not too wide, using an electric drill or perforator.

  • On the corners of the slopes, in the same way as when plastering, metal perforated corners are fixed with putty.
  • Then all joints are coated with putty, leveled, and after drying, they are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Further, the entire surface of the slope is covered with a primer.
  • To achieve a perfect surface, a thin (no more than 1 mm) layer of finishing putty is applied. It will completely hide all irregularities, joints and holes from the dowels.
  • After the layer of putty has completely solidified and, if necessary, sanding with fine-grained sandpaper, you can start decorating the slopes. They can be painted, pasted over or covered with decorative plaster.

Fasten drywall and otherwise, in the event that you need to level the surface, covering a significant thickness from the wall.

Combined fastening of plasterboard parts - on glue and on guides
  • To do this, bars of the desired section or metal profiles, corners or U-shaped shapes are fixed to the slope surface, thus creating a crate that will help level the wall, giving it the required direction. This mounting method has the advantage that additional insulation material can be placed between the guides fixed to the wall.
  • This whole structure is then covered with drywall, which is screwed to the bars with self-tapping screws. Further, the process proceeds in the same way as in the first option.

Decorating slopes with panels or clapboard

For finishing slopes with materials that manufactured in the form of rigid panels - fiberboard, lining different types, MDF and others, a similar technology for attaching them to the wall is used. This method is attractive in that with the help of panels it is possible to align corners that have large deviations from the norm.

Installation of such materials is carried out as follows:

  • The primed surfaces of the slopes are marked out for fixing bars or a metal profile on them, on which the finishing material will be fixed in the future. These auxiliary elements are located at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other, if they are installed across the slope. In this case, if lining is used for decoration, it will be mounted parallel to the door frame. If it is necessary for the panels to be located across the surface, then the bar is fixed along the jamb and closer to the angle of the slope. For a wide surface, not two, but three or even four bars are used.

  • You can carry out the lathing as shown in the picture - this option is called for fixing the lining parallel to the door.
  • After installing the lathing, it is recommended to lay insulation material between the bars - this can be mineral wool, polystyrene or one of the other modern insulation materials.
  • Further, the installation of the selected facing material is carried out along the crate. One-piece flat panels are installed end-to-end with each other, the lining is connected with a groove-tenon fastening.

  • The plastic and laminated lining is fixed to the bars from the side of the slotted part of the lock using special metal holders, which, with their protrusions, are put on the bottom shelf of the slot and are attached with a guide with small nails or self-tapping screws.

  • Panels, large in area, are screwed to the crate with self-tapping screws, the heads of which must be "drowned" by 1.5-2 mm into the thickness of the material. These holes are later sealed with wood putty with the addition of a dye of the appropriate shade.
  • Having finished with the installation of the panels, the appearance of the slopes must be refined with corners matched to the color of the cladding. The corners are glued at the outer vertical and horizontal corners and at the junction of the door frame and finishing material.

Features of vinyl slopes

The most in a modern way transform the slopes is the installation of vinyl panels. They can be purchased at specialized firms who are engaged in both the manufacture and installation of this finishing material... If it has a non-standard shape of the slopes, then they are made to order, after measuring the parameters. The surface of the slopes can imitate many natural materials, so they can be matched literally to any interior of the hallway and the color of the entrance door.

The most important advantages of ready-made panels in their installation are its speed and the absence of a large amount of debris and dirt during operation. It is impossible not to say about the aesthetic qualities of this finish - it is cut exactly to the size of the slopes and has no joints or seams on the planes. The only connections that cannot be abandoned are the joints of the horizontal and vertical planes... The material looks very presentable and neat.

For the installation of such slopes, it is used universal glue, which has the ability to firmly bond various materials together, such as wood and concrete, brick and chipboard, vinyl and plaster surfaces - almost everything used in construction and decoration. In addition, they are often attached to polyurethane foam.

These adhesives are applied to the inner surface of the finishing panels, and they are pressed against the slopes around the door. In this case, you do not need to drill holes in the facing material and walls, which can also be called an indisputable advantage of this technology of installation work.

By doing the work in stages and adhering to the technology, it is quite possible to independently complete the work on finishing the door slopes. Even without the opportunity to purchase finishing material, many apartment owners use what is at hand, for example, chipboard panels from used furniture. But still the most affordable and easy-to-install (except for ready-made vinyl panels) is the option using. It opens up wide possibilities for finishing decoration in almost any existing way.

The front door forms the first impression of the home, so it must be both reliable and aesthetically pleasing and perfectly assembled. At the same time, the complete installation cycle includes stages that are often neglected out of ignorance. These include finishing the slopes of the entrance door, which is necessary not only for the beauty of the structure, but also for high-quality operation for a long time.

What it is?

As practice shows, slopes are often confused with platbands, since platbands are their external, decorative part. By themselves, they carry only an aesthetic function. But the slopes are involved in ensuring tightness, sound insulation and thermal insulation, increase the resistance of the front door to burglary.

By definition, slopes are the inner and outer parts of the wall that “surround” the door frame. Slopes are also considered to be the left, right and top sides of a doorway in which a door is assumed but not installed. Not all types of doorways have slopes on both sides. Sometimes they may be absent from the outside, but from the inside they are in most cases.

The device of the door slope is quite complicated. High-quality slopes are not just parts of the wall protruding beyond the frame, they are an optimal combination of materials, each of which is necessary to perform a separate function. Materials are applied according to the "puff cake" principle.

The first layer is rough. To create it are used:

  • Primer. It is applied to the cleaned wall surface as a pre-finish coating. Primers are necessary to level the absorbency of the surface, as well as to improve the "adhesion" of the following materials to it.

  • Styrofoam. This layer is optional, but desirable in cases where the wall needs to be insulated. This is true for apartments on the lower floors and private houses.

  • Plaster. The primer improves the adhesion of materials to the wall, but does not level the surface. Plastering is necessary to fill irregularities, depressions or cracks in the wall. This process is the most laborious and time consuming and requires certain skills and abilities.

Alternatively, you can use a material that is easier to use - drywall. This option allows you to quickly prepare the surface for further types of finishes, but it is not suitable in all cases. In the conditions of the Russian climate, it is more often used for interior decoration or in warm regions with high humidity.

  • Reinforcing corners... These thin but strong metal corners are essential to protect the plaster at the corners of the slopes. The front door is a place with high traffic, and the corners of the opening often touch, hit, and scratch. Without proper protection, plastered corners will quickly begin to crumble and lose their presentable appearance.

  • Putty. With its help, all the shortcomings are leveled after installing the corners. Putty compounds lay in an uneven layer, therefore, after they dry, the surfaces of the slopes must be cleaned. For this purpose, fine-grained sheets of sandpaper or low-power grinders are used. Furniture is also suitable if it reaches hard-to-reach places.

  • Re-primer before applying a decorative coating.

The second layer is finishing, or front. There are no strict rules for choosing finishing options. It only depends on individual preferences and financial capabilities. The only condition that must be met is to choose a finish that is in harmony with the door leaf and wall decoration.

How to decorate the interior of the apartment?

Slopes protrude from both the outer and inner sides of the door. Accordingly, there are two types of finishes - external and internal. External, as a rule, is less variable. The main focus is on the design of the door leaf, and the slopes echo either with it or with the decoration of the walls. More often than not, these are practical and concise options that do not attract attention.

Inside an apartment or house, the decoration of the slopes becomes part of the interior. She is assigned a decorative role, so the types of materials and methods of decoration are of great importance.

Finishing with facing materials from the inside is of the following types:

  • Plastering the surface.
  • Bonding of finishing materials.
  • Frame cladding.
  • Coloring.

For the first type, plaster, primer, water and everything are used necessary tools... This process takes a lot of time, but it makes it possible to putty all the irregularities, insulate the structure, and make a layer of the required thickness. Decor from other materials is often applied on top of the plaster, but in itself it is already considered finished finishing, therefore, belongs to the basic techniques in repair.

"Clean" slopes after plastering are easy to paint in any suitable color, while they are sanded to smoothness or, on the contrary, left embossed.

The following materials can be used for decoration:

  • Ceramic tiles (tiles). Differs in rigidity, moisture resistance, hygiene, low price and a wide range of colors, shapes and textures. It is easy to care for the ceramic surface, however, the tile can crack or chip off if it is mechanically damaged, and during the replacement process you will have to work hard so as not to damage the neighboring elements.

The indisputable advantage of tiles is the many design possibilities. The mosaic looks especially original. It can be made from small solid tiles or from small pieces. Fragments of a mosaic are obtained artificially from a tile, cutting it into pieces required sizes, and jack of all trades can use broken tiles for this purpose, which are considered unsuitable. The result is original and unique, and the cost of materials is minimal.

Any construction adhesive is suitable for gluing tiles. It is applied evenly with a plastic spatula, and the seams are rubbed in a day with a rubber spatula.

  • Porcelain stoneware. This material is often confused with ceramic tiles. Indeed, in the manufacture of porcelain stoneware, the same substance composition is used as for tiles, but the production technology is very different. As a result, the tile has a colored coating only on top and becomes ugly when chipped, and porcelain stoneware has a uniform color throughout the entire thickness of the slab and damage on it is less noticeable. Also, its structure is denser, so it is more resistant to damage. In addition to being moisture resistant, environmentally friendly and durable, it also has frost resistance. In appearance, this material is more noble, but the color spectrum is very limited and its cost is higher than for ceramic tiles.

  • Decorative rock. It is truly an interior decoration, although it is far from always appropriate and is expensive. The peculiarity of this material is that it can be used to imitate real masonry. It has an attractive appearance, gives a zest to the interior, and is impeccable in terms of performance. The stone does not prick, it is easy to clean, it belongs to durable and safe materials. To fix it on the surface of the slopes, construction glue is used, but there are also ways to "sheathe" the surface decorative stone.

  • Wallpaper. Wallpapering is perhaps the easiest and most affordable way to decorate. It is most convenient to stick wallpaper on slopes with plasterboard trim. The glue will "grab" and on the plaster, but the surface for this will have to be leveled especially carefully so that "bubbles" do not form on the wallpaper.

Given the high traffic at the entrance to the room, it is better to choose wallpaper washable and in dark colors.

Sheathed openings using the following materials:

  • MDF... Fine particle size panels are very popular in all types of finishes. They are universal for any interiors, look aesthetically pleasing and have a number of other advantages: durability, a variety of coatings that imitate different breeds wood, ease of installation, improved sound insulation and thermal insulation in the room.

  • Chipboard... Chipboard finishing is the easiest way to tidy up a part of the doorway if, after installing the door, it looks poor. In this case, you don't even need a primer and putty. It is enough to sheathe the surface with flat sheets that match the tone and pattern to the door leaf.

  • Laminate. Laminate cladding is widespread for two reasons: it is inexpensive and looks much more solid than non-laminated recycled wood materials. The basis of the coating is fiberboard or chipboard (therefore "to sew up the slopes of chipboard" means the same as a laminate), and on top it is decorated with a polymer film. The most common option is stylization for valuable wood species, but there are also other shades in a dark and light palette. It has a number of advantages inherent in all wood-based materials, as well as certain disadvantages. So, among the most common disadvantages are hydrophobia (the material can stratify and swell from water) and average wear resistance.

  • Dobory... Sheathing of internal slopes from the extrusion is rather a necessity than an element of decor. Dobors are narrow plates made of different materials, which are necessary for masking slopes, the width of which is more than 7 cm. As a rule, they are used when the door and the slopes must be sheathed in the same style and with the same materials.

  • Drywall. The choice of drywall is relevant when you need a high-quality and budget result, which is convenient to work with with your own hands. In addition, drywall perfectly levels the surface for decorative finishing in the future and enhances the insulating properties of the front door.

  • Plastic... No matter how versatile MDF, laminate and similar materials are, plastic door requires the decoration of the adjacent space with PVC-based materials. The use of sandwich panels is especially popular. They have a variable width - from 5 to 150 cm, which makes it possible to cover each side of the slope with just one piece.

Performance characteristics products are also at their best: aesthetic appearance that lasts for a long time, biostability, resistance to humidity and temperature extremes, the presence of air sections inside the panels, which ensure the preservation of heat in the house, hygiene.

Modern technologies manufacturing of plastic guarantees its environmental safety and non-toxicity.

  • Siding... The characteristics of siding panels are very diverse, because they are made from various materials - from aluminum to plastic. The slopes are finished with aluminum, copper, wood, basement and vinyl siding.

The best option- vinyl. It is a monolithic PVC panel, the main feature of which is flexibility. It can be given absolutely any shape, ideally fit into corners without joints and gaps. Vinyl is not subject to the processes of decay and combustion, is not afraid of water, does not crack at temperature extremes, is easily cleaned of dirt, is not of interest to fungi and insects. Front side panels can be plain, with a pattern, stylized like stone, wood or brick.

Frame cladding implies the preliminary installation of a metal (aluminum) or wooden profile along the perimeter of the doorway, to which in the future any material is attached using self-tapping screws. This method is considered the most time consuming, since before fixing the profile, it is necessary to prime and level the slopes with cement mortar.

Some types of materials (plaster, chipboard, MDF and drywall without decorative coating) need to be painted to blend harmoniously with the interior of the room.

For these purposes, the following are used:

  • Acrylic paints. It is convenient to add them to the composition for surface plastering. This simultaneously reduces the number of finishing steps, since surface leveling and painting occur simultaneously, and makes damage less noticeable, since the entire layer of plaster is painted over;
  • Water-based... These paints can be added to plaster or painted over the wall over the leveling layer. When using acrylics and water-based paints, it is important to remember that they must be primed on top, otherwise the surface will get dirty. You can dilute the primer yourself from PVA and water in a ratio of 1: 5;
  • Latex based paints can also be used in two ways, but their advantage is that no final primer is needed. Latex compounds are non-hydrophobic and easy to clean;
  • Alkyd and oil. These compounds are indispensable in high humidity conditions. They are more durable and dense, but they are more difficult to work with due to their thick consistency and toxic odor.

How to insulate?

Thermal insulation and soundproofing are functions of the entrance door, which in part depend on the type of finishing of the slopes. To insulate a room, you don't have to run to the store for a heater. First you need to take care of maximum tightness, and you should start with the front door. This will not only increase the level of comfort in the house, but will also help in the long run to save money on utility bills.

Insulation of slopes from the inside is carried out step by step:

  • Selection of materials. Leading positions are occupied by sandwich panels, drywall, foam plastic, mineral wool, polystyrene. Experts recommend choosing exactly polystyrene, which is superior to other materials in many respects. At a relatively low cost, it is capable of thermoforming and vacuum forming, resistant to moisture and chemical processing, does not smell, is environmentally friendly, lends itself different types processing. If there is no polystyrene, it can be replaced with a mineral board (wool).

  • Preparatory work. They include all measures for cleaning the work surface. It is necessary to cut off the polyurethane foam, remove the old coating, if any, eliminate irregularities as much as possible. After removing the old plaster, the surface must be dust-free with a vacuum cleaner and a damp sponge.

  • Primer and putty. It is imperative to prime the surface of the slopes. This will ensure high-quality adhesion of subsequent layers to the wall, and also minimize the likelihood of fungi and bacteria on the wall. Any deep action soil is suitable for this purpose. After applying it, the surface must be allowed to dry for 3-4 hours. Re-applying the primer to the plaster is permissible.

It is not necessary to putty the slopes, but it is desirable, especially if the surface has many defects, chips and depressions. All these small gaps greatly affect the insulating qualities of the front door.

  • Insulation installation. At this stage, it is the turn of the insulation material. Polystyrene boards and mineral wool are glued with specialized adhesives. The glue is applied with a spatula to the plate, then it is applied to the surface of the slope and adjusted to the level. Drying time of the glue - at least a day. After that, the plates are fixed with dowels.

  • Fastening the insulation. Ideally, polystyrene or mineral boards should be coated with plastic mesh for internal finishing works... This will protect against cracks and irregularities in the future. The glue is applied to the mesh in layers, each layer dries to hardness in 6-12 hours.

  • Leveling the surface. Putty is needed here again. You can level the surface up to 2-3 layers. Then you need to let it dry for the time indicated in the instructions on the container, and process it with fine-grained sandpaper. The grain number on the sandpaper package is at least 100.

  • Final finishing. Includes the application of a colorless primer followed by painting or any other method of decoration.

It is important to take into account that finishing materials have not only their own characteristics that affect thermal insulation, but also their weight. It is necessary to calculate in advance whether the insulated slope will withstand, for example, the weight of porcelain stoneware or lining, or if you should give preference to paint, plastic, wallpaper.

How to make a slope on the front door from MDF panels with your own hands, see the next video.

Colors

Slopes are an insignificant detail that can both support the style in the interior, and completely break out of it. An inappropriate color of the finish will become an element that violates the integrity of the overall picture, therefore it is important to choose the right color in accordance with the design of the door and the decoration of the walls, floor and ceiling in the room.

After the renovation, many owners say that it is necessary to update some interior elements. Front doors often require renovation. Some constructions should simply be replaced, and some can be quite successfully given new life... Thus, you will not only hide all existing surface defects, but also decorate your interior.

Internal cladding

For interior decoration doors use a variety of materials.

MDF

MDF plate received wide use, due to its good performance, pleasant appearance and affordable price... This material is presented today in several versions:

  • Painted. It is used for interior decoration of doors.
  • Veneered. Differs in increased resistance to atmospheric phenomena. For decoration, wood species such as oak, birch and more expensive options (beech, red wood, ash) are used.
  • Laminated. Differs in good moisture resistance and durability. The material is characterized by a heterogeneous multilayer structure, where the upper layer is decorative, and the lower one is a substrate.

MDF has the following positive qualities:

  • easily mounted on the door;
  • has an environmentally friendly composition;
  • has good strength;
  • enhances thermal insulation;
  • improves noise insulation;
  • has a wide selection of different textures and colors of the front surface;
  • easy to clean.

TO negative sides material can be attributed:

  • easily damaged by abrasive processing;
  • weak moisture resistance;
  • the price is above average.

To finish on your own MDF door panels, first you need:

  • make accurate measurements of the dimensions of the door;
  • buy a panel and immediately cut it out in the store to the size of the door, if the company provides such a service, or take it to a workshop specializing in such work.

The process of finishing doors with MDF panels consists of the following steps:

  • The door is removed from the hinges, the fittings are removed.
  • Cleaning the working surface from the previous finish, removing dust and small pieces of cloth, degreasing.
  • A primer is applied to increase the adhesion between the door, adhesive and finishing sheet.
  • The glue is applied along the edge of the entire door and in the middle.
  • The panel is overlaid and pressed evenly. You can fix the sheet so that it does not slide out using masking tape that does not leave marks. The door is left for a while to dry the glue.
  • For double-sided finishing MDF panels, the operation is repeated in the same way for the second side.
  • After the glue has dried, the door is put back on the hinges, the fittings are returned to their place.

Laminate

Ordinary is used for door finishing. floor laminate... Such a coating is similar in its qualities to MDF, but it is produced using a different technology and has a different composition.

The structure of the laminate board is as follows:

  • wood base;
  • wood fiber board;
  • several layers of special paper with a printed pattern;
  • protective film.

The positive qualities of the laminate include:

  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • durability;
  • ease of use;
  • aesthetic appearance.

The disadvantages include high cost.

The laminate cladding process takes place in this order:

  • With removed door all accessories are removed.
  • A frame is made of wooden slats with a section of 20x20 or 30x30 mm, the structure is attached to the door leaf by means of "liquid nails".
  • The slats around the perimeter will be visible, so it is better to choose them to match the color of the laminate or paint them in the same color.
  • The laminate is connected to each other so as to create a single plane that will be attached to the door.
  • A frame made of strips is superimposed on the laminate board, the places of contact with the strips are marked.
  • The surplus of the shield protruding beyond the dimensions of the door is sawn off, holes are cut out for the peephole, the handle and the key slot.
  • A rack frame is mounted on the door, the voids can be filled with heat and / or sound insulating materials, for example, foam or mineral wool.
  • The laminate board is smeared with glue according to the markings and pressed against the rack frame, while the glue dries, a pressing weight should lie on top, distributed over the width so as not to push the laminate.
  • After the glue dries, the fittings are mounted in place, the door is hung on the hinges.

Lining, siding

The finishing material, made from various types of wood or plastic, is produced in the form of lamellas. Lining is similar in quality to wood, but more affordable financially.

The positive qualities of the lining include:

  • good appearance;
  • excellent heat and sound insulation;
  • durability, especially for dies made of oak, larch and other hardwoods.
  • low moisture resistance, can be improved by impregnation with special additives;
  • good flammability, can also be reduced by impregnation.

Facing with clapboard occurs according to the same plan as with laminate. There is an option of drawing up a decorative pattern from a lining of a small size and different colors. In this case, the assembled shield is attached to a thin OSB sheet, and the sheet is attached to a frame made of strips.

Artificial leather

A material called "vinyl leather" is used, which has replaced leatherette in this niche, due to its higher performance and protective properties. Differs in improved appearance, very similar to natural leather.

The positive aspects of vinyl leather include the following characteristics:

  • relatively inexpensive material;
  • high moisture resistance;
  • resistance to temperature fluctuations;
  • pleasant, aesthetic appearance of the texture;
  • high elasticity;
  • convenient and undemanding material to use;
  • good wear resistance;
  • improves noise and heat insulation of the door;
  • a large selection of textures and colors.

TO negative aspects low strength should be attributed; due to its visual appeal for pets, it gives a quick loss of aesthetic qualities.

Vinyl leather door finishing consists of the following stages:

  • The previous finish is removed, for example, with a spatula or other tool, the surface is cleaned.
  • The glue is applied along the perimeter and in separate, evenly distributed areas over the entire plane.
  • Insulation is applied (almost necessarily if the door is made of iron), fixed until the glue dries, after which the excess insulation is cut off.
  • Vinyl leather is cut with a margin: 12 cm wider than the dimensions of the door.
  • The glue is applied around the perimeter, but from the inside, so that the door is completely covered with a vinyl leather outside, and the elongated edges in width (+12 cm) are wrapped inward.
  • When applying material, you need to start from the top from the center of the door and move down and to the edges, smoothing out the emerging "waves".
  • The bottom of the door is glued at the end.
  • After the glue dries, the excess vinyl leather is cut off, holes for the peephole, the handle and the key slot are cut in the canvas.

Dyeing

A good option for quick and inexpensive door decoration. Improves appearance and does not require special skills. The following types of paint are used to paint doors:

  • Nitroenamel. The positive aspects of this paint are corrosion protection and aesthetic glossy color. The disadvantages include fragility, poor resistance to temperature fluctuations, strong odor. Poorly suitable for painting doors directly on the street, for example, in a private house.
  • Alkyd enamel. Excellent paint based on alkyd resins with many positive qualities, such as high resistance to aggressive environment, resistance to mechanical loads. Service life about 4 years, dries quickly, resistant to fading.
  • Acrylic paint. Has the same positive properties, as alkyd enamel, in addition, does not contain toxic substances. Very resistant to aggressive environments.
  • Powder paint. The premium version with excellent operational and aesthetic qualities, the only drawback: painting is done only in special workshops. High resistance to any sources of negative impact.

The positive aspects of staining include:

  • ease of finishing work;
  • low price;
  • any colors and shades of finishing.

Relative disadvantages include:

  • do not enhance sound insulation in comparison with MDF, laminate, clapboard, vinyl leather;
  • do not increase thermal insulation;
  • some types of paints contain toxic substances.

The negative aspects include:

  • high price, varies greatly from wood species, especially its rarity;
  • good flammability, can be reduced by special impregnation;
  • significant weight increase, replacement of loops is possible;
  • poor moisture resistance, can be increased by appropriate impregnation.

To paint a door with high quality, you need to do the following:

  • thoroughly clean the surface of the door from the old finish with a spatula or other suitable tool;
  • wipe off dust, remove any pieces of matter, degrease;
  • apply a primer;
  • gently and in small portions apply paint with a roller or brush, layer by layer, do not paint everything in one go;
  • it is possible to overlay a decorative template or stencil to create a unique pattern using different colors.

Pasting

The easiest way to freshen up a door is with a self-adhesive foil. Doesn't add any operational pros or cons to the door. Before gluing, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. If there are dents, chips, bumps, then they need to be sanded or putty. It is more convenient and better to glue from top to bottom, not in a hurry, so as not to get "waves".

Solid wood

The design of the box and inter-door space can be varied. You can arrange from the inside door leaf as decorative stone, siding, chipboard, eurolining, and refine with tiles or use drywall.

The door paneling of the apartment can be made with metal. You can also paste over the door with veneer, sheathe it with laminate, and glue it with leatherette. Padding with leatherette, as a design technique, has been known for a very long time, as well as finishing with carpet, linoleum or iron sheet.

Refresh the look of old wood or wood wooden frame doors can be done by various means, including upholstery, the choice is yours.

Warming

Metal doors are made according to the frame-ribbed scheme. Inside, they have cavities that are well suited for filling with insulating special materials.

For this purpose, the following materials can be used:

  • Styrofoam;
  • mineral wool;
  • Isolone of sufficient thickness;
  • polyurethane foam and other insulation.

The foam insulation scheme consists in the phased filling of cavities, namely:

  • we prepare the material by cutting it into pieces corresponding to the size of the intercostal cells;
  • mounting foam is applied to the metal ribs at the joints with the insulation around the entire perimeter and to the inner plane of the door in 2-3 strips;
  • a piece of foam is gently inserted into the cavity and pressed down;
  • the process is repeated with all the cells in the same way, except for the one where the door lock is installed, for it you need to cut the corresponding opening in the sheet, you should not completely skip the cell, this will create a large bridge of cold.

Cashing options outside the street door after installing it

For outdoor applications, the most important criterion is weather resistance if the door faces directly outside. If this is an internal access door, then in most cases moisture resistance and resistance to temperature fluctuations are important. Thus, good options for exterior door cashing are:

  • Steel sheet. Can have different levels of resistance, depending on the specific alloy. The appearance is improved by various decorative means, for example, coloring. When applying a sheet, a cork or other material gasket must be used. This will improve the heat and sound insulation of the door. The material is highly resistant to mechanical damage, vibration, atmospheric phenomena.
  • Lining, siding. This material can be used subject to impregnation with special additives that enhance moisture resistance and resistance to temperature fluctuations.

  • Coloring. Only types of paints are used that are resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations.
  • Viniplast. Material based on PVC or fiberboard. It has excellent performance, the only drawback is instability to ultraviolet light, it can be leveled by opening the surface with a special varnish.
  • Ship plywood. Visually similar to solid wood. Easy to handle, has good aesthetic and performance properties.
  • Artificial leather. Good choice for a reasonable price. Due to its positive performance, it is used for interior and exterior decoration.

To decorate the outer side of the door, you can use special overlays made of different materials.

Installation of entrance doors cannot be considered completely finished until the entrance door inside the apartment is completed. These are the slopes. It is the finishing of the slopes that will complete the composition of the entrance group and beautifully decorate the doorway. Consider the materials and technologies that make it possible to make slopes for entrance doors and transform the interior.

Finishing the slopes near the front door

Outside the apartment or house, after the installation of the front door, everything is ennobled with platbands or other materials. From the inside, everything is usually much worse - concrete, brick, fasteners of the door system come across to the eye. To hide all this, you have to independently select materials and carry out the decoration. The process is simple, not requiring much time and financial investment.

The main function of the slope is to give the doorway a normal appearance. It allows you to more securely fix the door frame, increasing the resistance of the structure to burglary. That is, the slope is necessary element, not just decoration.

Basic ways

Finishing is carried out based on the technology of forming the slope - the material for the cladding can be selected varied. The most important thing is to decide which method will be used for the installation.

Consider the main technologies, because the choice should be approached responsibly:

  • Sealing with mortar or plaster.
  • Bonding of finishing materials with solutions.
  • Frame cladding with finishing materials.

There are other methods, but these are more popular among professional builders and DIYers.

Sealing with mortar or plaster

One of the acceptable ways to finish doors is to grout, but it is also necessary to take into account the high labor intensity. This approach provides the maximum level of protection and good sound insulation. The result is a structure that will not bend or have voids inside.

This option, although it has advantages, is rather constrained in terms of design. Finishing from the inside is possible with the help of staining or textured plaster.

Bonding of finishing materials with solutions

If, in addition to filling the voids with mortar, revet the slope various materials, then the appearance of the doorway can be significantly transformed. When fully implemented, this method combines the advantages of the first option, but has no inherent disadvantages.

Frame cladding with finishing materials

This finishing option involves the installation of finishing materials on a pre-fabricated frame made of wood or metal. As a result, a lot of money is saved, and it also becomes possible to achieve an aesthetic appearance. When using a frame structure, it is much easier to obtain high flatness characteristics and achieve all levels, which is important.

Where to begin

Regardless of the chosen option for finishing the door slopes, first of all, you need to start with the preparatory work:

  1. The door leaf and frame are protected from damage with masking tape.
  2. All places are removed (cut off the foam) that protrude and can interfere with the installation process.
  3. The entire working surface is swept and primed. Experts recommend using deep penetration soils.
  4. Installation in progress power cables and wires that will serve to illuminate the hallway. If the slope is executed along frame technology, then it is better to postpone the installation of the wiring for later.

Stages of work

You can divide the decoration of the front door inside the apartment into three stages:

  1. Preparatory processes (have already been described above).
  2. Installation of the slope in the selected method and material.
  3. Fine finishing is the last operation and decoration of the opening.

10 finishes for interior slopes

Above, we examined the main methods for finishing the slope indoors. On their basis, 10 more finishing options are distinguished. They are suitable for a wide variety of occasions. You need to understand that ideal option finishing does not exist - each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Finishing door slopes using drywall is the most laborious and most beloved method by many craftsmen. It is not enough to sheathe the opening with plasterboard, it is also necessary to put putty on it, and then paint it with acrylic water-based paint or paste over the slope with wallpaper. But the result is a beautiful and maximally flat surface.

The work on finishing the slopes can be done in two ways - frame and frameless. The last option is easier. Glue finishing using drywall does not require particularly careful preparation, and there is no need to smooth the work area. If there is a slight blockage on the side wall, then it is corrected by applying a thin layer of plaster mortar up to 10 mm. If the base section is initially flat, then the task is simplified as much as possible.

The algorithm will be as follows:

  1. The base of the opening is carefully primed and allowed to dry completely.
  2. Measure the overall dimensions and mark the plasterboard slabs.
  3. A sheet is cut into several necessary elements with a jigsaw.
  4. Moment glue or its analogue is applied to the blanks every 15-20 cm.
  5. The glue is given time to dry - they wait until a characteristic film appears on the surface.
  6. They apply details to the wall, align, pinch down pointwise with palms.

Instead of glue, liquid nails, polyurethane adhesives and polyurethane foam are also suitable. But when using foam, you need to work carefully - there is a risk that the sheets will shift.

In the video: the easiest way to finish the upper slope.

Plaster

The use of plaster solutions for finishing door frames will require certain skills from the master. The job is messy and time consuming. The wall should already be aligned during preparatory phase, cleared of construction dust and primed.

Particular attention should be paid to the concrete lintel, which is located above the door - it is treated with "Betonokontakt". It is a special primer for surfaces that do not absorb moisture well.

For plastering, precise alignment beacons are also required. The algorithm looks like this:

  1. Using a level on one of the side walls at a distance of 3 cm from the door, mark the position of the vertical line.
  2. Further along the line, holes are drilled every 30 cm - their diameter should be 6 mm.
  3. A dowel 6 × 30 mm is installed in the holes obtained and the caps are leveled with twine.
  4. The beacon is fixed on the clips and the verticality is checked.

After installing the beacons, they begin to prepare the solution. The simplest and most inexpensive option is to use quarry or river sand and cement M-150 or M-200.

To obtain the correct consistency, the ingredients are mixed in the following sequence:

  • The prepared materials are sieved through a sieve - the mesh is 3 × 3 mm or more.
  • 3 parts of sand and 1 part of cement are mixed in a container.
  • While stirring, add clean water to the container.
  • At the same time, the solution is kneaded using a special drill attachment.

When the mass envelops the tool like dough, the mixture is ready to use. With a spatula or trowel, with little effort, the mass is thrown onto the wall from one and the other side of the jambs. It is necessary to completely close the installed beacon. When small area passed, proceed to processing another. A rule is applied to the lighthouses and a layer of plaster mixture is smoothed. This gives a perfectly flat surface.

On the video: plastering the slopes of the entrance door with cement-sand mortar.

Decorative plaster

The finishing technology of door frames is almost the same as conventional plastering. It is recommended to apply this mixture to previously plastered areas. If a decorative composition with a texture is used, then the rough wall is not allowed to be finished ideally. If you finish additionally using colored stone chips, you get a beautiful and durable surface.

Among the disadvantages of this method can be noted the cost of finishing material, high labor intensity and the fact that there is a lot of dirt in the process.

MDF panels

It is the fastest of all types of finishing work. The process does not require a large amount of material and tools. It should be noted the ease of installation, but only if the slope is narrow enough. If the slope is wide, then the seams between the panels will be noticeable.

The easiest way is to use special ready-made elements for finishing door frames in the shape of the letter L, but the problem is that they are not cheap, and they can not be purchased everywhere.

Installation is carried out according to an algorithm similar to drywall, but may differ slightly. It also uses glue, the wall is pre-processed, and then the elements are glued to the surface to size. It is necessary to control the position of the vertical elements.

If heavy metal doors are installed, there is a high probability of deformation due to high loads. Therefore, the plaster can crack after a year. In such cases, a frame installation is used.

This technology is optimal when:

  • deformation of the surface must be prevented;
  • a heavy MDF sheet is installed;
  • it is necessary to eliminate the excess space from the inside.

The simplest solution is using an aluminum profile as supporting structure... It is also allowed to use a wooden lath. The algorithm looks like this:

  1. The walls are cleaned and checked for cracks and crevices.
  2. If necessary, the surfaces are repaired and treated with antiseptics.
  3. Next, using a level, they expose the extreme beam or profile and fix it with dowel-nails.
  4. Parallel to the installed element, a second post is mounted and rigidly attached to the main wall.
  5. The racks are fixed parallel to each other along the entire perimeter in the door opening.
  6. The structure is reinforced with jumpers, which should connect both parts.
  7. In the meantime, insulating materials are laid in the cells of the frame, slats are made of MDF and fastened to liquid nails. It is important to achieve minimal gaps between the planks.

In the video: do-it-yourself MDF entrance door slope.

Laminate

This is a variation of the above item. But, unlike MDF, laminate is more suitable for finishing a door portal of any depth, it has good external data. The seams between the panels will be virtually invisible. You just need to remember that laminate is an inexpensive material and it looks like it.

Particleboard panels

According to experts, chipboard is one of the the best materials for door decoration. Among its advantages are:

  • wide range of colors;
  • quick installation without seams;
  • high performance in heat and sound insulation;
  • resistance to low temperatures;
  • affordable cost;
  • long term of operation.

Fastening of cut-to-size elements is carried out on liquid nails. The work is similar to the finish using drywall. The installation requires degreasing the jambs. Next, the elements are glued. When the glue has polymerized, the gaps between the chipboard and the wall are filled with polyurethane foam... The color of the panels can be different, perhaps imitation wood.

PVC panels

This design looks very cheap, but the plastic is inexpensive, quite durable and easy to maintain, although you cannot call it reliable. You will also have to take care of insulation. The process of finishing the door frame does not require special skills; it can be carried out even by novice craftsmen.

Artificial or natural stone

Interior cladding with natural or artificial stone is, according to designers, the last century. And they used such solutions because of the enormous wear resistance of materials and their easy installation... Among the disadvantages is the lengthy process of gluing the stone.

After gluing the stone, adjacent walls can only be painted or covered with decorative varnish.

Tiles and Mosaics

Having installed the mosaic, you can admire it for a long time - the service life is very long. Tiled materials are not afraid of moisture, they are difficult to scratch. But it all looks rather strange. Ceramics are commonly used to decorate walls, bathrooms and kitchens.

Dye

Often inside, entrance doors are finished with staining. This is true if the slopes were previously plastered and perfectly aligned. It is best to choose water-based dyes, but acrylic counterparts are also suitable. But if there is no opportunity to purchase them, then ordinary enamel will do.

Naturally, the surface must be prepared in advance - the slopes are putty, primed, leveled if necessary. Then the surface is thoroughly cleaned. Covering film and masking tape are used to protect doors and walls. A roller is used to apply paint, and brushes and sponges are used for hard-to-reach places and joints.

The door trim can be made by yourself without resorting to the services of specialists. The main thing is to follow the chosen algorithm exactly and purchase quality materials. And if you have any questions, there are detailed video instructions for this.
