Street hearth from a concrete ring. We make a fireplace in the country with our own hands

It is hard to imagine how many people admired the burning of logs with delight, sitting near the fire. A fireplace in the country, made with your own hands, allows you to provide such pleasure at any time, and even in the company of friends. Burning wood is mesmerizing and has a wonderful psychological effect.

The fireplace must be located 3 meters from the buildings and 4 meters from the tree crowns.

A fireplace in the country, made with your own hands, can become both a barbecue for cooking barbecue, and a barbecue. The aroma of food cooked on a fire is difficult to compare with anything. A campfire can be easily built on suburban area, but it is also important to ensure complete fire safety both for buildings and for the surrounding nature.

Features of the summer cottage

The fire place from the barrel can also be used as a grill and brazier.

The dacha fireplace is an open street hearth, made by hand, on open area dachas. Such a fire allows you to cook some types of food and keep warm, and is also often the center of a recreation area in the evening. The hearth in the country should ensure the burning of logs in the form of a sufficiently high flame, but at the same time it should not be a threat to the fire of buildings or plants. Appearance the fireplace should fit into the overall design of the country house and even decorate it.

The place for a permanent fireplace should be located at a distance from buildings and plantings, and there should be no grass in the area of the fire. When placing in the garden, the fire should be removed from the crown of trees or shrubs at a distance of at least 4 m. The hearth should be removed from buildings by more than 3 m. Do not choose a place for the hearth on the leeward side and build it in windy weather. In this regard, it is not recommended to make a hearth with your own hands on a hill.

Optimal for equipping a fireplace is a flat area at a level slightly lower compared to the level of the location of buildings. Most often, the fireplace is shaped like a circle with a diameter of 80-100 cm, around which stationary benches are installed for sitting. There may be a place to store logs at a safe distance from the flame. The area itself, where wood is burned, must be lined with non-combustible materials.

Structurally, a fireplace can be of several types: a hearth buried in the ground, outdoor option protected by walls and an external version open type(bonfire). Arrangement of any type begins with cutting off the top layer of sod, cleaning the soil from roots and covering the soil with heat-resistant material.

Necessary tools for work

Rice. 1. The resulting gap must be filled with gravel.

When making a fireplace in the country with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

  • Bulgarian;
  • electric drill;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • mallet;
  • a hammer;
  • chisel;
  • chisel;
  • scissors for metal;
  • putty knife;
  • Master OK;
  • shovel;
  • vibrator;
  • construction mixer;
  • pliers;
  • vice;
  • roulette;
  • metal ruler;
  • construction level.

Recessed type fireplace

Rice. 2. Diagram of a buried type fireplace

A deepened version of a summer cottage fire can be done as follows: a hole about 40 cm deep is dug, and then fine gravel 15 cm thick is poured onto the bottom.The hearth machine is placed from block stone or bricks, the elements are laid on clay mortar or fireplace adhesive. After laying the first layer, it is carefully leveled by tapping with a mallet. The inner ring formed by the first row of masonry is filled with crushed stone with a rammer. Then the rest of the elements are laid in a circle. The uppermost masonry row is made on the surface of the ground and is made of decorative stone.

It is recommended to install a metal screen in the form of a cylinder formed from a metal sheet with a thickness of 1-2 mm inside the hearth. The external gap between the wall and the soil is filled with soil previously removed from the pit. A diagram of a buried type fire pit is shown in Fig. 2.

The next stage of the arrangement is the creation of a protective site around the fireplace. In order to prevent the flame from spreading beyond the hearth zone, a flat area is being built, paved with stone, tiles, bricks, paving stones or poured with concrete. On this site, benches are equipped to accommodate people. The dimensions of the site are made on the basis that a person is located at a distance of at least 80 cm from the fire.

In the daytime, such a hearth can be used for cooking. To do this, a tripod is installed above the equipped pit, a kettle is suspended. Among other options for the construction of a buried fireplace, the following technology can be noted: a cone-shaped deepening is made in the pit (expansion upward), the cone is concreted, and from above it is revetted with decorative ceramic tiles.

Outdoor fireplace

Rice. 3. Stages of creating an outdoor type of campfire

The simplest type of outdoor design is an open fire, which is built in a designated area. Such a place can be equipped with other natural or artificial obstacles with reliable protection from the wind. In this case, in a circle with a diameter of about 1 m, a sod layer of earth (about 10 cm thick) is removed, and the formed hole is covered with crushed stone, ash, stone chips or other non-combustible materials of a fine fraction. Around the area arranged in this way, pebbles with a size of at least 10 cm are installed to create the volume of stacking logs. The area around the fire pit is formed similarly to the described method. Such a fire requires special care during operation.

More reliable and safe is the option of a closed outdoor fireplace. The principle of this design is the erection of a cylinder above the surface of the earth, in which a fire is made.

The foundation for the construction is prepared in the same way as for an open fire. Then a metal rim with a diameter of at least 40 cm and a height of more than 30 cm is installed in the circle. The drum of an old washing machine, a cut-off metal barrel, etc. can serve as improvised materials. 3 shows a diagram of the installation of such a fireplace.

Masonry with a thickness of at least 10 cm is made along the outer circle of the metal cylinder.For this purpose, you can use refractory bricks, ready-made concrete blocks, paving slabs, curb elements, purchased blocks from natural stone... When laying, you should use a clay oven mortar or a special adhesive fireplace compound. The gap between the metal and the stone is filled with the same mortar or sand.

Hearth of metal strips

Another method of making a closed outdoor fireplace is gaining popularity - a hearth made of metal strips. This construction is made of two pieces of corrugated galvanized steel. The design diagram is shown in Fig. one.

2 strips with a width of at least 30 cm are cut from a steel sheet so that they form two cylinders with a gap between them of 10-15 cm. The strips are bent in a circle, and their ends are connected with nuts. The cylinders are fixed in a circle on the ground, and between them fine non-combustible mineral material is poured, mixed with sand. A layer of gravel up to 10 cm thick is poured into the inner cavity of the cylinder.

On top of the inter-cylinder backfill, you can make plaster and cladding at your discretion.

Economical design

One of the cheapest designs of summer cottages, made with your own hands, is an outdoor version of a metal barrel. In general, the whole complex is made as follows: a circle with a diameter of 0.8-1 m is formed according to the described method, a piece of a metal barrel without a bottom (about 50 cm in diameter and 30-40 cm high) is installed on it. Inside the barrel, gravel is poured with a layer of up to 10 cm.Around the barrel, a conical bevel is made of gravel with a base diameter of about 1.1-1.3 m. The bevel is poured with concrete 2-3 cm thick, then the entire area around the fire is concreted (diameter - 2, 5-3 m). A removable grid for cooking should be provided on top of the barrel.

The fireplace area can become a recreation area with an attractive design. You can create an original site with a center in the form of a campfire, which will allow all family members to relax in nature.

The symbol of the hearth in the country can rightfully be called a place for a fire. Recently, the hearth in the country has become not only a place where you can cook another gastronomic masterpiece and have a great free time with a pleasant penny in the circle of family and friends, it is also original element landscape design.

Above ground location of the campfire site in the country

Before equipping a place for a fire, you need to carefully consider the territory of its location. The hearth should be located away from garden trees, country house and other outbuildings. The optimal distance to the house and buildings should be at least 3 meters, and at least 4 meters to the crowns of the nearest trees. It is also not necessary to arrange a place for a fire in a lowland or on a hill. Better to choose the middle ground.

After the place for the dacha hearth is determined, the site should be prepared: remove debris, plant roots, level the surface of the site and outline the place for the hearth itself. As a rule, the hearth is made in a round shape, with a diameter of about a meter. It is necessary to remove the sod layer from the designated area. This is necessary so that later the entire site can be laid out paving slabs or a stone. In the center of the site, the location of the hearth itself is marked. You can use an iron rim to decorate the fireplace. In the place where the installation of the metal rim is planned, a small layer of soil is removed, the bottom of the resulting depression is leveled and the rim is installed.

If the structure has very thin walls, then it will not be able to provide the required strength during operation. Therefore, concrete blocks or stones are laid out along the entire area of the outer wall in several rows. Paving slabs or granite cobblestones are also suitable for this. For masonry, it is better to use a special masonry mortar. For laying natural stone, clay mortar is more suitable.

To prevent the campfire site from turning into a body of water after heavy rain, a roof must be cut out for it. A suitable piece of sheet metal can be used as material.

Aboveground design of the hearth

Deepened fireplace

You can also arrange a place for a fire in the country with the help of a small dug pit. The depth of the excavated pit should be approximately 30-40cm. The bottom of the excavated pit is covered with a layer of fine gravel. In order for the hearth to last longer, the inside of the pit must be girded with a piece of sheet metal. The ring can also be erected using separate blocks. The first layer of blocks is laid on gravel. The correct laying is checked building level... All irregularities are removed with a rubber mallet. On the top surface of the first row, a special glue is applied for laying hearths and fireplaces, then you can put the second row of blocks. The finished structure is covered with fine gravel, and the upper part of the hearth is decorated with a stone that is suitable for landscape design.

Decoration of the site near the hearth

In order to decorate the area near the hearth, you can use pebbles, gravel or tiles for garden paths. If you expand the territory near the hearth, you get an excellent platform for a good rest. An interesting option are flat slabs of irregular geometric shape, which are laid out in a fancy pattern. These wide slabs can easily accommodate chairs, benches, or any other garden furniture. Ideal option for arranging a place for a fire in the country, there will be a circular bench with backs. To give such a site comfort and coziness, the site can be decorated with rugs, and placed on the bench decorative pillows and blankets.

A support wall can be made of the same material that was used in the decoration of the hearth, it will simultaneously serve as a back for the bench. In order not to have to go far to get firewood, a special wood-burning stove is equipped next to the fire place, which is decorated in the same style as the hearth.

You can lay out to the fireplace garden path along which to install small street lights. This will make the site cozy in the evening and create a special romantic atmosphere.

Often, the area around the fire is made in the form of the sun, and impromptu sun rays are drawn on the facing.
It will be interesting to look at summer cottage hearth, made in the form of a lunar crater or fireplace, next to which you can install a small figurine of a guardian cricket.

Interesting idea decorating a campfire site in the country

It is not so difficult to arrange a place near the fire in the country. The main conditions in work are the availability of all the necessary building materials, clear calculations, availability of free time, imagination and a little creativity.

Hearth in the country: what will we sit on

Campfire site: what are we going to sit on?

You have a campfire site, but what next? Stand and watch it burn? No matter how it is, you did it in order to cook barbecue, fry bread, bake potatoes and just relax in the evening, and it is clearly more convenient to do it while sitting than standing. How do you arrange a seating area around the fire and what can you use for this?

For starters, you can take any chairs that can be used outdoors. It can be as simple camping chairs with which you go to the forest, as well as wooden or metal country outdoor furniture - the same chairs or large benches on which it is so comfortable to sit together. Rattan seats are also suitable.

Simple chairs to sit near the campfire on the site

If you are a fan of the classics - why not fold the familiar pentagon from logs, as is often done in the forest? But here you can already sand the logs and even varnish and even attach a back to make it more comfortable to sit.

Classic pentagon made of logs around the hearth in the country

AND stationary option- you can make seating around the hearth in the summer cottage with your own hands from stone - from brick or any other stones that are at your disposal. Tip: Lay out the benches not in a square, but in a semicircle, as this looks more aesthetically pleasing. And to sit softly and not cold - put the cushions on the seat itself and attach it to the back, if you have one there.

Do-it-yourself brick hearth in the country

And finally, there are two ways to make a hearth in a summer cottage with your own hands. For starters, the most popular type of fireplace is made of bricks. What do we need? bricks and cement.

There are several ways to fold a fireplace made of bricks. The first option is the way a house is built, that is, folding bricks one to another, shifting each next row by half a brick - just lay out the walls of the fire pit of the required height. Some build directly from the ground, some - first they dig a hole in the ground, as a result, the fireplace turns out to be sunk into the ground. In this case, it can be like a level with the ground, here then it is better to lay out additional stones or tiles around a place around at least a meter in diameter, or with the walls up - in this case, the coals will not fall down. But here it is worth providing openings for air intake in the fire.

Building a brick fire house

The second way is to lay bricks in a circle, placing them vertically or horizontally. If you want to make a low hearth, one row of bricks laid out in a circle with a vertical installation will be enough. If you want to make a large round hearth - the bricks must be laid horizontally and do not forget about the holes through which the air will access the fire - in this case it will burn much better.

Do-it-yourself brick hearth in the country

You can also show imagination and fold some unusual hearth, not round or square, but absolutely not symmetrical. And here you can use not only bricks, but also any other stones - best of all natural, unprocessed.

Hearth in the country under the cauldron

If you like to cook something in a cauldron over a fire, for example, real pilaf, stewed vegetables or meat, then before you start folding the hearth, you need to figure out how to put the cauldron on it. The first option is to make a small hearth of stones, on which a large cauldron can be placed on top. If you need more space for a fire, make a metal structure that can be put into a fire, and a cauldron should not be placed on top of it. Or you can make a hearth out of an old car disc. How to do this - read below, and the cauldron will stand on top without any problems.

If you don't want to stack bricks, you can use a simple and proven way to make a fire pit yourself, which I mentioned earlier - use an old car rim (stamping, not casting!). It is perfect for this - round shape, tall walls, air intake openings and ease of installation. You can either bury it in the ground, making a fire pit flush with the ground, or put it, and overlay it with bricks to make it look more attractive.

By the way, from the same disk you can make not only a hearth, but also a brazier - on steel legs, so that it is more convenient to follow the cooking kebabs, a grill (by adding a grate on top the right size), barbecue and more.

And if, instead of a car disk, you have found some other metal bowl or other container in your garage or basement, you may well use it to make a hearth in your summer cottage. By the way, an old steel basin will do just fine for this - who else has these kept from Soviet times?

Reading time ≈ 3 minutes

To every owner country house or dachas want to be able to make a live fire on their site, warm evening sit by the fire, frying something edible on the fire. How to organize a fire without leaving black spots of a fire on the lawn, with maximum comfort and security? Make the hearth harmoniously fit into private plot, its design was pleasing to the eye and the device was within the power of the owner himself?

To build a hearth in the country with your own hands, as in the photo, without resorting to the services of professionals, is quite realistic even for a person who initially has a very distant idea of such construction works... The main thing is compliance with the sequence of work on the arrangement of the hearth, as well as an intelligent choice of materials.

Plan

Having set a goal to equip a fireplace in the country, it is advisable to draw its diagram or drawing on paper. Before starting work, it is important to clearly think over where the future hearth will be located, as well as mark the selected place for it. The marking of the hearth in the country, guided by a ready-made plan, is easier and more convenient to do. For marking, you will need the following tools: tape measure, pegs, plumb line and a skein of string.

Digging a hole and making concrete

Having marked the place, a pit 50-60 cm deep is dug in the ground. After that, concrete should be mixed on fine gravel.

The approximate composition of the mixture is taken from the calculation: for 45 kg of sand - 30 kg of crushed stone and 15 kg of cement, water is added to the required mobility of the mixture. Alternatively, you can take a ready-made concrete mix stamps 100.

Selection of stones and their laying

The contours of the hearth itself are laid out from the stones at the bottom of the pit, simultaneously fixing them with concrete mortar.

For the construction of the hearth, you will need flat stones with a thickness of 5-10 cm of various sizes. Stones can be very different (with the exception of porous shell rock and limestone).

According to the texture, you can choose completely unique combinations of stones, focusing on your taste. If the choice of stones, as well as their layout, is difficult to make on your own, you can enlist the help of a designer or a person with artistic skills in this matter.

Technological nuances

The bottom of the hearth is also made of a concrete cushion with a thickness of at least 10 cm. Holes are left in the concrete itself for rainwater drainage. If necessary, the holes can be used for installation various designs for frying meat and grilled vegetables.

The sinuses from the outer walls of the hearth are filled with excavated soil with compaction.

At the same time, backfilling is carried out in such a way that a space remains under a thickness of 10-15 cm to the level of the top of the soil. For this, concrete is laid around the hearth, and large flat stones are embedded in it.

Everyone who has a house outside the city or a summer cottage wants to improve the adjacent area, to make it a place for rest. And what kind of rest without the opportunity to sit near the fire, admire the play of tongues of flame, or maybe at the same time cook a delicious dinner on the fire? In order to realize this desire, you can build a hearth in the country. You can do it different ways, and such a process will not take much time. It is important to follow some guidelines to make it safe and beautiful.

Basics of work

The work to be performed in combing the construction of the hearth at the dacha has the same essence, no matter which version of the fireplace would be chosen for the device. Initially, it should be said that the material for manufacturing can be any, the main thing is that it is refractory, for example, suitable:

  • stones of various sizes;
  • bricks;
  • concrete blocks, etc.

In the process of designing a hearth in the country, several stages can be distinguished:

Stage Characteristic
Pouring the base of the fireplace Whatever the hearth, you should always take care of its foundation, which will ensure not only safety of use, but also convenience when cleaning the hearth from burnt wood residues.
Material selection This moment determines the further level of strength of the erected walls. How much will be needed in order to fold the hearth - depends only on its diameter and height. It is recommended to make the walls of the hearth from large bricks.
Laying the walls The laying process itself can be different depending on what type of campfire is being built. It can be laid with a solution, you can exclude its use. In some applications, cement mortar on the walls there is simply no need. The main thing is to be convinced that everything is installed reliably, tightly and will not be able to collapse from someone else's influence.
Campfire site The hearth's heart is a fire. You can leave it as it will be after pouring the base and laying the walls, or you can make an additional device for a fire or for cooking. It is possible, during the laying of the walls, to install an iron beam of the required size in them, on which there will be a special grill for frying in a suspended state. You can make such a lattice removable and simply put on the fireplace. Everyone will determine which adaptation is better based on their desires.

Types of summer cottages

You can build a hearth in the country with your own hands different types... Depending on what is acceptable for the owners, what exactly is needed from such a structure, you can make a choice. The foci can be buried and external. It is worth figuring out what each of them is.

Deepened foci

You can make a hearth in a buried type cottage according to the following principle:

Additional work to be carried out in the construction of the hearth:

  • Equipment interior space country hearth can be made using a metal screen, which needs to be shaped like a cylinder. The sheet should be up to 2 mm thick;
  • The gap that remains between the walls of the fire pit and the soil must be filled with the soil remaining after digging the hole;
  • You also need to take care to make a protective platform that will surround the hearth. With its help, you can not only protect the nearby space from fire, but also additionally decorate the hearth;
  • Such a site is made using the usual styling from a selected or more suitable material, for example, brick, stone, paving stones, or you can simply fill it with concrete;
  • Next, you can equip the resulting area with benches or other places to relax. When installing these, you need to remember that the minimum distance from the hearth should be 80 centimeters;
  • To make a place for preparing food, you can build a tripod that fits into the diameter of the fireplace and hang a metal grate on it.

Reference: another option for constructing a hearth in a dacha of this type can be the principle of a cone-shaped hole, which must be dug before starting work. One has only to make concreting of the dug cone and revet it with decorative material.

Outside type of hearth in the suburban area

This type of dacha hearth can be designed according to two principles: with an open fire and a fire closed type... With regards to security, the second option is better. To make an outdoor hearth with an open fire you need:

  • having decided on a place for a hearth in a summer cottage, remove a layer of earth, which will be 10 centimeters thick;
