Preparation and safe use of wormwood tincture. What diseases are treated with alcohol tinctures?

Self-production of high-quality moonshine (double distillation with subsequent normalization of the strength to the required value) aims not only to obtain a strong alcoholic beverage, but also to obtain ethyl alcohol. And ethyl alcohol is an indispensable component in the manufacture of medicinal and healing tinctures from herbs, berries, fruits, etc.

It is necessary to distinguish between infusions and tinctures. Infusions are made in water, by brewing herbs, plant parts, etc. with boiling water, boiling them, boiling them, infusing them for many hours. In rare cases, infusions are made in a cold way. Despite the availability, infusions have two significant drawbacks. Firstly, it is rather long and troublesome to cook them by boiling or boiling the ingredients in a water bath. Secondly, they do not last long, even in the refrigerator. Therefore, they must be prepared regularly, every few days. And for this, it is also necessary to store the ingredients so that they do not deteriorate and do not lose their healing power.

Tinctures are another matter. Tincture is an alcoholic extract from a medicinal product. Alcohol is an excellent solvent and very effectively "sucks" all useful components from the starting material. Almost all recipes for infusions can be realized in the form of a tincture.

Another excellent quality of tinctures, in addition to their effectiveness, is a very long shelf life. It usually lasts at least 2-3 years. This allows you to use the starting materials in the period of their maximum "strength" and effectiveness and easily procure the required amount of tincture until the next season. Or do tinctures of a "preventive" nature for future use, even if nothing hurts. In fact, a tincture is a concentrate of a medicinal product. And if infusions and teas should be drunk in "glasses", then tincture - in drops. The taste of alcohol, and even infused with any bitter plants, is not to everyone's taste, therefore, when ingested, a drop of tincture is usually added to a small amount of pure water. In this form, alcohol tincture can be used even in the treatment of children.

The tincture technology is, in general, very simple. The raw material is crushed (if necessary) and placed in a hermetically sealed vessel with a wide neck. Then the required amount of alcohol, vodka or high-quality moonshine is poured into it. The volumetric ratio is most often taken 1: 1. And the weight ratio is 1: 5. Those. alcohol must cover all raw materials. (The weight of dry raw materials - herbs is about 5 times less than the weight of alcohol of the same volume).

The tincture is kept for at least 7-10 days at room temperature, after which it is filtered and poured into an airtight container and stored in a cool, dark place. In this form, the tincture retains its medicinal properties for several years. Tinctures are used in the form of drops or in the form of lotions and compresses, as well as when rubbing.

The strength of alcohol in the manufacture of tinctures has little effect on the amount of the drug extracted from the plant. Too strong alcohol is simply inconvenient to use when using drops, and weak alcohol requires a long infusion and is stored worse. Therefore, most often use a solution of alcohol "vodka" strength - 40-60 degrees. I have compiled a selection of descriptions of various alcoholic tinctures (vodka or moonshine) that you can make yourself and use to treat or prevent diseases and improve your health. Moreover, we do not have a shortage of vodka and moonshine, and the raw material grows literally "in the yard" or in the nearest field.

Well, in addition, sometimes tinctures are used to ennoble strong alcoholic beverages, to give them taste and bouquet. You should not insist the entire amount of the drink on any particular herb. It is enough to add a few drops of tincture (or several) to the bottle - and ordinary vodka or moonshine will have an original taste. So you can even make your own signature healing balm.

The general technology for the manufacture of tinctures is given above and below only some features of the manufacture of a particular tincture will be mentioned, if they are required. When making tinctures, do not rely on your memory, but be sure to inscribe the bubbles (vessels), what kind of tincture it is, when it was made and in what cases it should be used and how. You should also keep records and recipes for balsams and the composition of the mixtures, the most successful and pleasant to you.

Foreword

Healing tinctures have long been used very effectively to treat diseases of various body systems. To date, the composition of such drugs, the technology of their preparation and the peculiarities of their administration have been clearly marked.

For the most part, these funds consist of plant materials and an extractant, which has the property of extracting biologically active components from organic substances that have a direct effect on the work of individual organs. As a rule, extracts are prepared from a specific part of one plant. Collection of herbs is used very rarely. For tinctures, alcohol, ether or aqueous-alcoholic solutions are used. The reaction can last from a few days to 1 month (sometimes longer). Take ready-made tinctures in small doses.

Official medicine successfully uses such drugs for therapeutic purposes. In every pharmacy today you can buy alcoholic tinctures of Valerian officinalis, motherwort five-lobed, Kalanchoe, aloe, capsicum, ginseng, lemongrass, eleutherococcus, golden root, etc. All of them undergo strict technological and pharmacological control.

Folk healers often insist on preparations not on alcohol, but on vodka, grape wine, various types of vinegar, dilute them with water or tea and recommend them for consumption in large quantities.

To prepare a medical extract, you must be very careful and careful, strictly follow the steps indicated in the recipe, observe the proposed proportions and some technical conditions. Before creating such complex dosage forms, you need to consult a doctor. The high alcohol content in the tincture and the presence of chronic diseases can lead to alcohol intoxication and negative results. If the therapist approves of an unconventional method of treatment, you can refer to the recipes for preparing extracts from plant materials given in this book.

Medicinal tinctures

Plants are used to treat diseases in various dosage forms. Chemical and galenic preparations are made from raw materials at pharmaceutical enterprises, laboratories and pharmacies. The first group includes medicines that have undergone complex technological processing and contain active active substances of plant organisms in their pure form, without impurities. The second includes extracts (extracts), in which glycosides or alkaloids are in a concentrated state, and tinctures, where substances are stored in ethereal, alcohol-ethereal, alcohol and water-alcohol solutions that have the taste, smell and color of medicinal herbs, of which were prepared.

Features of tinctures

Tinctures, or tinctures (Latin tingere - "to paint") are a liquid dosage form that occurs when biologically active substances are extracted from animal organisms and plants using an extractant - alcohol, wine, vodka, ether, acetone, as well as mixtures of alcohol with water or ether. They differ from extracts in that during their production the process is carried out at room temperature without heating or evaporation.

The purpose of this technology is to isolate a component that has a therapeutic effect, obtain it in a dissolved state and remove ballast elements. Ethyl alcohol copes with this perfectly, which is designed to extract alkaloids, camphor, glycosides, resins, essential oils and organic acids. Ether separates bromine, iodine, resins, essential and fatty oils, wax and alkaloids. Water dissolves organic and inorganic salts, acids, alkalis, carbohydrates and mucus. As for grape wines, they are used less often, since they all have a wide variety of constituents, which each time leads to a unique tincture, but it often does not have the required properties.

The antiseptic properties of tinctures are due to the content of alcohol or ether in their composition, therefore they are stored for a long time. The medicinal product receives a defining name in accordance with the liquid used for infusion: spirituosa, vinosa, aquosa, aetherea.

Usually the preparation of these forms is carried out under the influence of 70% alcohol. It penetrates the cells of the raw materials used faster, breaks them down more easily and extracts active substances than 90-95% alcohol. If one substance is used to create tinctures, they are called simple (simplex), and if several, complex (composite). Back in the Middle Ages, thick extracts with a dark, saturated color and solutions of extracts in alcohol were given the term "elixir", and less colored and more liquid - "essences". Tinctures proper included transparent and light tinctures.

Hoods can be strong and poisonous, or with exactly the opposite characteristics. In the first case, the following proportion is used to prepare the product - 1 part of the applied mass per 10 parts of the extractant, and in the second, the amount of alcohol or other liquid is halved.

The enormous pharmacological significance of tinctures lies in the fact that the medicinal substances are contained in them in a dissolved form, that is, they are ready for absorption, so the drug begins to have an effect almost instantly. The property of alcohols and ethers to accelerate these processes is important for internal and external use. Wound surfaces, skin and mucous membranes are especially effective and deeply affected. Subcutaneous administration is not recommended as it is accompanied by severe pain. Internal intake is limited to 15-20 drops to prevent excess alcohol from entering the body. Pediatrics excludes the use of tinctures for obvious reasons. It is also forbidden to mix various tinctures, because biologically active substances in such a product settle to the bottom, the drug becomes cloudy and partially loses its medicinal properties.

Historical information about medicinal tinctures

It is difficult to say in which particular country they first began to use medicinal extracts from plants infused with alcohol. It is assumed that the title of the discoverers belongs to the Chinese, since the earliest information about the use of such drugs is recorded in ancient manuscripts. The appearance of tinctures is dated approximately to the 4th - 3rd millennium BC. In ancient Greece and Rome, healers used such remedies to treat warriors wounded in multiple battles that these states fought throughout their existence. In Russia, alcohol elixirs appeared only in the 10th century.

If you follow the logic, at first they began to prepare alcoholic beverages, which almost immediately found a new niche for themselves - improving the body and treating diseases. Almost all peoples had healers who knew a lot about medicinal plants used to infuse alcohol, and were always ready for experiments. According to their observations, the maximum doses of the drink taken caused excitement of the nervous system and a surge of strength in people, but the same results appeared when consumed in drops. Which has been proven through numerous experiments. It is clear that the preparation of preparations became possible only after the alcohol was isolated.

Traditional healers and doctors - representatives of traditional medicine were engaged in medicinal tinctures. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates used to treat patients with a tincture of wormwood, which improved appetite, regulated the work of the gastrointestinal tract, healed wounds and eliminated inflammatory processes. In the 17th century, Francis Sylvius received an extract from juniper berries, which for a long time was a remedy for insomnia and a drink that dulls the feeling of danger. It fell to the taste of the Dutch soldiers and received the name - "gin". In this case, the medicine turned into an alcoholic beverage. In the Middle Ages, doctors actively created new recipes for infusions, using exotic and common herbs or spices as plant raw materials. For example, in the 15th century, the extract from rose flowers was especially popular. It was believed that it contains a special substance that has the property of preserving youth, beauty and giving a woman a certain charm.

In ancient Greece and Rome, the preparation of medicinal tinctures was under the jurisdiction of the priests, since they had vast knowledge in the field of medicine, were professionally engaged in the treatment of people, and temples were the stronghold of progressive scientific thought. In medieval Europe and Eastern countries, monastic orders were the keepers of wisdom. Monks at that time were considered the most educated people. They conducted various experiments and restored health to people. The creation of medicines was considered as a divine blessing, a reward, therefore, before each scientific experiment or the preparation of an elixir, special mysterious rites were performed. Ready-made recipes and secrets of medical practice were kept secret, and their disclosure was punishable by death. The clergy achieved excellence in the preparation of tinctures and balms, many of which later became medicinal preparations.

In Russia, technologies for creating healing potions were transferred from a master to a student or follower. Healers and sorcerers used only those parts of plants that contained active substances, and cured people for various diseases. There were so-called green shops selling ready-made tinctures and medicinal herbs, so you could always purchase the necessary remedy or prepare it yourself. For example, peppermint tincture was popular, which was used for digestive and nervous system disorders. Russian chronicles mention that it was used by the Moscow prince Dmitry Donskoy. Saint Sergius of Radonezh often treated people with this drug, but he preferred tincture of five-lobed motherwort and white-eyed marsh, and also used his famous balms. An extract from stinging nettle, which grew in abundance in Russia, was prepared in almost every home. From diseases of the cardiovascular system of our ancestors, especially the elderly, was saved by the hawthorn tincture imported from Germany.

Methods for preparing medicinal tinctures

There are 3 ways to prepare tinctures: maceration, percolation and dissolution of extracts.

For many millennia, they used mainly maceration, that is, simple infusion. This technology is still used today. The dried parts of the plant are crushed, the plant mass is placed in a closed vessel, poured with a certain amount of extractant and infused for 7-10 days at a temperature of 15-20 ° C, stirring several times a day. After that, the liquid is drained, the residue is squeezed out by hand or using a press, then washed with a new portion of the solvent and squeezed out again. In conclusion, both liquid substances are combined and the vegetable raw material is poured with the resulting mixture. The role of a means for extracting active substances of a plant is performed by ethyl alcohol of various concentrations, which is selected depending on the properties of the extracted substance. Infusion is considered an imperfect method, as it has several significant disadvantages. The rate at which biological processes occur in the mixture is relatively low. In this regard, the infusion is carried out for a long time. During the process, evaporation of the extractant is observed, which causes a decrease in the volume of the obtained product. In addition, the plant mass is so tightly packed that it can be difficult to lift it from the bottom and stir it up. To eliminate these problems, various techniques are used, such as dynamic maceration aimed at circulating alcohol, dividing the raw material into portions, vortex mixing of the plant mass, using a special centrifuge and sonication.

Percolation is an industrial method in which the extractant is continuously filtered through the layer of the used part of the plant. First, the dried and crushed starting material is poured with a small amount of alcohol and infused for 4–6 hours. Then it is divided into portions, placed in a percolator, again poured with alcohol and left for 2 days. After that, open the bottom tap of the container by so many turns so that the liquid is decanted in drops, and the solvent is fed from above at the same speed. The extract is carried out until the required volume of the tincture is obtained. The preparation of tinctures based on extracts is used only in cases where the plant mass cannot be processed by methods typical for obtaining these drugs. The process is not complicated: the finished extract is simply dissolved in alcohol of the required concentration. This is how tinctures of sabur and chilibuhi are obtained, as well as elixirs containing a mixture of solutions of extracts or tinctures with any other substances (drugs).

Extracts obtained by percolation and infusion require mandatory cleaning. For this purpose, they are defended at temperatures up to 8 ° C for several days or run through special filters. The medicinal value of drugs is determined by the amount of active substances of the plant in the prepared liquid. The tinctures are stored in sealed containers in a dark and cool place, and when a precipitate appears, they are filtered again.

Tinctures prepared in pharmaceutical factories are used in traditional medicine. And you can buy them at almost any pharmacy.

Healing tinctures for the treatment of diseases

In folk medicine, for the preparation of tinctures, mainly medicinal plants and some organic substances and compounds are used. Unlike pharmacological drugs, non-traditional drugs are characterized by a simplified preparation technology. For example, as an extractant, in addition to alcohol of various concentrations, ordinary vodka, red and white grape wine, apple cider or table vinegar are used. The process of squeezing out the plant residue is often ignored. The drugs are taken in larger doses, diluted with boiled water.

The healing power of alcohol extracts is aimed at treating various diseases and is due to the presence of biologically active substances in the plant that have certain properties. This is a difficult question - what does propolis treat? Propolis heals everything! It helps the body to restore its functions.
You tell me that it doesn't work like that? I was also very skeptical about propolis as a general natural healer. But it's true. Read the article about and you will understand why it has such versatility.

As I wrote in previous articles, propolis is a concentrated immunity of many plants. And the plant glue, from which the bees create propolis, is a system developed for centuries to protect plant buds from various external adverse conditions.

We humans live in the same ecological system as plants. Protective substances of plant immunity do not cause rejection in our organisms, on the contrary, they help in strengthening our defense system and in its restoration, if immunity is weakened or lowered.

Today you will find out for what diseases of the body to take this or that form of bee glue:

  • alcohol tincture
  • aqueous extract
  • propolis oil
  • propolis ointment
  • just chew the pieces of propolis

In case of oncological diseases in the initial stage... The essence of the action of a bee product is that it has strong antioxidant properties, it is also called an antioxidant bomb. Propolis stops the rapid development of cancer cells.

The following recipe is used:

Any inflammation of the airways... We use the antimicrobial properties of the bond, namely, the inhibin substance, which is included in the product and gives the bee putty the antibiotic properties. How to apply:

- we do every hour rinsing the throat with a water-alcohol solution (the dosage is described above)
- inhalation with an alcoholic solution of propolis and a decoction of medicinal herbs (for 100 grams of decoction - 1 teaspoon of tincture)
- when coughing - in 100 grams of warm milk add 1 teaspoon of propolis, a piece of butter and drink at night
- we use propolis inside, as described in the figure

With otitis media we use gauze turundas in the ear canal or instill drops.

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: gastritis, ulcers

Apply three times a day, a teaspoon of alcoholic tincture in a glass of milk (10% propolis solution). After a month, increase the concentration of the bee product from 10% solution to 20%.

We use it for another month. Then we take a break for two weeks and we can continue again. If you don't like milk, replace it with a glass of water. All the salt of the method is in the formation of a protective film on the gastrointestinal mucosa, which reduces pain syndrome from irritation with acidic juice, improves frictions (contractions, motility) of the intestine.

To increase immunity, increase the body's resistance, we drink propolis prophylactically at night for the entire period of the flu epidemic. During operations (both before and after) for quick healing of incisions without scarring.

For gynecological diseases tampons moistened with 20% bee glue tincture are introduced vaginally - for erosion of the uterus, in 35% tincture - for fungal diseases.
In parallel, you can apply 10% propolis tincture inside.

When treating the pancreas drip 15 drops into half a cup of water or warm milk and drink overnight. After a week's course, the work of the pancreas is normalized. We take a 7-day break and continue another weekly course to consolidate the result. The mucous membrane of the gland is gradually regenerated, its inflammation passes. If you have acute pancreatitis, then alcohol tincture is undesirable.

Propolis tincture. Application for children

The use of alcohol tincture of propolis for children is a rather controversial issue. It is considered by doctors that alcohol-containing products are undesirable for children. It follows that alcoholic tincture of bee glue can only be taken externally: gargle, do inhalations, lotions, lubrication and rubbing.

At the same time, almost all beekeepers treat their children and grandchildren with alcoholic tincture, but rather diluted. We take exactly as many drops of propolis as the child is years old, drip into half a glass of warm water or milk and give the child a drink. True, there are diseases when alcohol tincture is categorically unacceptable: acute pancreatitis.
In this case, we use an aqueous extract of the bee product.

Propolis for alcohol - contraindications

  1. Personal intolerance is alcohol tincture (so it was with me). But then we start with one drop and gradually, every day, increase it by a drop and bring it to 20 drops. Also, gradually reduce the amount back to 1 drop. My intolerance is gone. We listen to the body and act without fanaticism!
  2. Alcohol tincture is prohibited for pregnant women and lactating breast milk, as well as other alcohol-containing drugs. It is recommended to use an aqueous solution, it is less likely to cause allergies
  3. Diseases for which alcohol tinctures are prohibited (acute pancreatitis) due to the content of ethyl alcohol

Today we covered the topic:

propolis that heals and subtopic - that treats his alcoholic tincture.

In further articles we will consider what propolis heals with water, with milk and for what diseases it is better to use oil tinctures bonds... But it will be a little later - I want to tell you what kind of anti-cold bomb I have prepared and now I drink with tea. The cold season is in full swing and I think this material will come in handy for you, especially since it is done quickly.
