How to make scaffolding with your own hands. The procedure for the installation of scaffolding from shaped pipes and lumber

Sooner or later, the construction site comes to finishing the facade. And then it becomes necessary to carry out work in the range of heights from 4 to 10 meters. After all, you need to "hem" the gables, mount the siding, and paint the facade elements, and drainage system install.

There is only one way out - to put up scaffolding or a tower-tour. But industrial building construction expensive, and the price of a tower tour with a working height of 8-10 meters bites hard. You can rent them, but if the work takes a long time, such rental will cost a pretty penny.

Metal or wood

Scaffolding can be made of wood or metal. The practical experience of members of the forum suggests that it is economically feasible to erect metal structures only if there is "free" hardware. If you buy metal, fasteners, do welding works, then such structures in the end will cost more than factory and, moreover, wooden ones.

If the scaffolding can be carefully disassembled and put the boards into the "business", then the metal ones are doomed to gather dust in economic block... Experienced builders will say that high-quality scaffolding or a tower-tour can then be rented out. But few of the private developers will want to tinker with this, so most members of the forum still prefer wooden structures.

Metal scaffolding is better than wood, but the main trump card of wood is relative cheapness, simplicity and speed of their manufacture.

Advice from FORUMHOUSE: do it yourself scaffolding made of wood is better to build from quality sawn timber. A quality board, as opposed to waste material, which will have to be thrown away after using it, can be used in a new construction site.

How to make scaffolding from planks

Before you start making homemade wooden structures, you need to decide on the front of the work. If in one case they can be the simplest - attached (for filing gables, siding country house etc.), then in other cases (finishing the facade with stone or brick, plastering, etc.), a more serious structure is needed.

The dimensions of the base unit are as follows:

  • Length - 5 m;
  • Width - 1 m;
  • Height (thickness) - 3.5 m.

The construction took 60 running meters of a 150x50mm board.

Buryat participant FORUMHOUSE

They are called "scaffolds - an envelope".

DIY construction scaffolding

The design itself looks like the letter G attached to. A 150x50 board is taken as a basis, another board is nailed to it perpendicularly - a support platform, on which the flooring is then laid.
One of the most important elements of such structures are jibs - boards 25-50x100, with which two main boards knocked together at right angles are sheathed from the sides.

Usually, 3 jibs are nailed to each side. Thus, the rigidity of the entire structure is achieved.

Such forests do not need a rigid connection to the home. The power load is carried by a retaining board, which at one end abuts against the place where the boards are attached, and at the other end, with a pointed end, is stuck into the ground.

If the house is wooden or frame, then side scaffolding can be nailed to the wall. If the facade cannot be damaged, then they lean against the wall, and the retaining board carries the main load.

When choosing the size of "envelopes", you should adhere to the following requirements. If the site is too narrow, it will be difficult and dangerous to walk on it. If the platform is too wide, then the separation of the "envelope" from the wall is not excluded. The optimal platform size is 400-500 mm.

The main advantage of attached structures is that they do not require a lot of sawn timber to make them.

Buryat participant FORUMHOUSE

The retaining board and, accordingly, the height of the scaffolding can be increased. If the length of the board increases (more than 6 m), then for the rigidity of the structure, another board rests against the corner between the wall and the blind area, which is attached with the other end to the middle of the first - the main board.

Despite the fact that the design is widely known, at the first glance at such designs you doubt their reliability - it's scary to look at! Let's turn to the practical experience of our website users.

We call these forests "Armenian". When I first saw such a structure, I was surprised - how does it hold up in general. I tried it, climbed onto the flooring - quite reliably. I myself have used attached scaffolding more than once, both on wooden and brick house... They are convenient, quickly assembled and disassembled. Doesn't take up much space.

Drosha member of FORUMHOUSE

Forests of this type are quite safe. There is no need to fasten the boards to the walls, but the flooring must be screwed to the props with self-tapping screws (I did not knock it down with nails, so that later you could quickly disassemble it).

How to erect heavy duty scaffolding

But such "Armenian" scaffolds are not suitable for all works - mainly for light ones. They are good as scaffolding for house painting, etc. For "heavy" work that requires working with tools, mortars, finishing the facade with stone, etc. a more capital structure should be used.

The assembly of the structure is done like this:

  • A six-meter board (150 / 200x50) is taken and placed vertically against the wall;
  • A second board is placed parallel to it;
  • They are fixed between themselves with horizontal crossbars. Further, according to the same scheme, the second support is mounted and the flooring is laid;
  • For greater rigidity, the racks are propped up with additional bracing boards, which abut against the ground;
  • As necessary, the scaffolding is increased in height by fixing additional vertical planks.

Standard dimensions of one span of such scaffolding:

  • The step between the posts is 2-2.5 m;
  • The width of the flooring for work is 1 m.

We made such forests last summer. They were not attached to the wall. They put it on only one wall, and then moved it. The main thing is to make braces and stops, and the structure will stand as if cast.

How best to make scaffolding: graise up against self-tapping screws

There is always a lot of controversy about how to put together scaffolding,
how to fasten the boards to each other. The opinions of members of the forum were divided: some believe that it is possible to assemble on self-tapping screws, others are categorically against - only on nails.

The main argument of opponents of self-tapping screws is their fragility. The self-tapping screw does not work well under shock loading and on shear. As a result, the cap flies off, the structure loses its strength, up to self-destruction.

How to build scaffolding for house cladding.

Igor Kokhanov participant of FORUMHOUSE

I recommend fastening everything with 120 mm nails with a mandatory bend of the tip to the crossbars and jibs. And no self-tapping screws! I will tell you such a case. Familiar builders made the roof. They fastened the boards with self-tapping screws. As a result, the structures dispersed, all four flew from a five-meter height. The result is one in the hospital with broken kidneys. The second is a severe bruise of the leg. But they still got off easy, if the height was greater, everything could have ended much more deplorable.

This is why it happened. The nail is made from a relatively soft metal. Under load, it bends, not breaks. The self-tapping screw is made of hardened metal and under alternating and shock loads, it will first bend a little, and then break. Moreover, the so-called "black" self-tapping screws among the people, due to hardening, are much more brittle than anodized yellow ones.

For demountable wooden structures, hex bolts (for a washer) with a diameter of 8 mm or more and special metal fasteners are well suited.

The main argument of the opponents of nails is that it will no longer be possible to accurately disassemble the scaffolding that has been hammered together on nails, and part of a good board will have to be thrown out or used for rough work. And the structural elements will be kept from shifting by the large frictional force that occurs between the boards, if you use self-tapping screws with a length of 120 - 150 mm. Therefore, you need to compromise - use self-tapping screws to collect scaffolding"In black". In this case, if an error occurred at the first stage of scaffolding, they can be quickly disassembled and rebuilt. And only then, additionally, everything should be put together with nails.

During the construction of the second (and third or even fourth) private houses and cottages, they use special structures - scaffolding. They allow you to work safely at high heights - where ladders cannot be used. Most often, wood is chosen for the manufacture of scaffolding - a material that is more profitable in price and easy to process. Although it is possible to use a metal profile for this.

Material selection

When choosing between metal and wood structures, you should know:

  • to assemble scaffolding from metal, you will need special equipment, including a welding machine. In addition, the design itself will require more manufacturing time and cost more;
  • wood is easier to work with, and tools used to construct such scaffolding can usually be found in any household. However, the strength of such scaffolds is lower. And for the construction of a high structure, it is dangerous to use them.

Making wooden scaffolding with your own hands, as a rule, is within the power of every owner of a private house taking part in the construction. For the construction of the same metal structure, sometimes you have to turn to specialists. Although when building a house on several floors, in any case, you will need outside help.

Structural elements of scaffolding

The number of popular schemes and methods for making scaffolding from metal profiles or boards reaches several dozen. However, they all consist of the same elements:

  1. Racks located vertically and taking the load from materials and people located on the scaffolding and transferring it to the ground;
  2. Screeds designed to increase the rigidity of the frame and placed diagonally;
  3. Jumpers on which the floorboards are laid. They should be located strictly horizontally (with level checking);
  4. The flooring itself is one of the main parts of the structure, which takes up a large volume and, for economy, is made of thick boards attached to each other.

In addition to the main elements, the drawings of the scaffolding must necessarily include a railing to prevent workers from falling from a height. Special persistent slopes will help to avoid overturning of the structure. Ladders are used to climb to and from the working platform.

Wooden structures

Before assembling wooden scaffolding with your own hands, a diagram must be performed on which several basic dimensions must be indicated:

  • height, the maximum value of which for wood scaffolding should not exceed 6 m;
  • the distance between the supports is usually chosen equal to no more than 2.5 m;
  • the width of the deck. For the convenience of work, this size is taken in the range of 80-100 cm.

Optimal height the first flooring level is about half a meter. This feature provides the maximum level of convenience for builders, whose hands, during bricklaying or other work, are located 30-40 cm below chest level. The second flooring is already located at a height of 2 meters, the third - about 4 meters. The elevations may vary depending on the size of the building itself.

When starting to construct scaffolding from wood, you should purchase the appropriate materials and fasteners. These include a beam with a section of 100 x 100 mm or boards with a thickness of 50 mm and a width of at least 100 mm. For railings, spacers and screeds, you can use a 30 mm edged board. And for the flooring, wooden elements with a thickness of at least 40 mm are taken.

Important: When choosing fasteners, you should be aware that nails will be cheaper, but they will increase the construction time of the scaffolding. In addition, they are more difficult to remove when disassembling the structure. The use of self-tapping screws will shorten the process, but will make the structure less durable. Therefore, for low structures, nails are chosen, for long and high forests - self-tapping screws for wood.

Construction stages

Scaffolding is made from boards and beams in several stages:

  1. Unfolding the elements of the future structure on flat surface and checking their compliance with the height of the forests;
  2. Linking uprights using horizontal jumpers;
  3. Installation of two already assembled frames side by side and their fastening using horizontally and diagonally placed screed boards;
  4. Styling wood flooring over horizontal braces, with boards fastening to lintels.

Now it remains to fix the railing and fix the ladder, with the help of which the ascent and descent will be carried out. With a long building length, the structure is extended and can consist of a different number of sections - from two to three or four. The frames are connected with boards.

You should know: When assembling wood scaffolding with nails, it is advisable to pre-drill holes for fasteners. This will increase assembly time, but will prevent the boards from splitting.

Metal profile scaffolding

To assemble metal scaffolding with your own hands, you will have to perform approximately the same sequence of actions, choosing the standard height and width of the structures. And the only serious difference is the adapters used to increase the "number of storeys" of the structure. In addition, some of the elements are connected to each other by welding.

Before starting the construction of a metal structure, the preparation of the following materials is required:

  1. Profile pipes of the corresponding section (30 x 30 or 40 x 40 mm), from which the racks will be made. The length of the segments is from 1 to 1.5 meters;
  2. Thin-walled pipes with a diameter of 20 mm, used for the manufacture of screeds. The length of each is 2 meters;
  3. Tubes (25 x 25 or 35 x 35 mm) for support feet and adapters. Length - 2 m.

Railings are most often made of the same shaped pipes as adapters. And to create thrust bearings, metal plates up to 4 mm thick are also used. To connect the diagonal braces to each other and to the main scaffold structure, a sufficient number of bolts and nuts are provided.

Assembling the structure

The process of scaffolding from metal begins with the following steps:

  1. Fixing scaffolding racks using an assembly surface (as a rule, OSB sheets are used in this capacity);
  2. Welding of horizontal lintels;
  3. Placing pipe adapters into the upper ends of the metal supports and fixing them by welding.

After removing it from the assembly board and turning the forest 90 degrees over, the structure is again attached to the OSB sheet. The edges of the pipes that will be used for the diagonal braces are flattened and prepared for connection by drilling holes in them. The scaffold ties are fastened to each other in the middle and placed on the uprights, and then secured with bolts and nuts.

At the next stage of the assembly, holes for fasteners are drilled on the railing and supports and the plate-thrust bearings are welded to the pipes. Assembled structure is installed in a vertical position, and thrust bearings are inserted into the lower ends of the pipes. On the horizontal lintels, wooden scaffolds are laid, which it is advisable to additionally secure with steel corners.

When attaching tie rods, it is recommended to install horizontal and diagonal elements on different sides of the frame. If the assembly of the second tier of scaffolds is carried out simultaneously with the construction of the third, additional holes should be drilled in the racks for bolting the thrust slopes. And when scaffolding is built up in the horizontal direction, the sections are attached to each other with the same bolted connections.

Metal scaffolding "in operation"

During construction or renovation work, it is often necessary to carry out work at a height. It will be inconvenient to produce them using a ladder. For these purposes, you can assemble scaffolding with your own hands. Exist different variants designs that are selected based on the nature and complexity of the work. Which type of product is better to choose, how to assemble it or make it yourself, you can read in this article.

Scaffolding is widely used in repair and construction. This is an indispensable attribute when performing indoor and outdoor finishing works at a certain height. The size and design of the scaffolding depends on the nature and complexity of the installation. The main purpose of this building element is to create a comfortable and safe working environment. This increases work efficiency and saves time and effort.

Regardless of the type of construction, scaffolding must be reliable and durable, taking into account the location of people, materials and tools on them. The product should be placed on a prepared, firm and level area. The structure should be at a distance of no more than 150 mm from the wall for outdoor use and no more than 100 mm for indoor use.

Useful advice! In the case of using the structure for a long time, it is necessary to provide ditches for draining rainwater from the site so that the soil is not washed out from under the racks of the device.

Scaffolding consists of the following elements:

  • racks;
  • diagonal and horizontal struts, giving the structure spatial strength;
  • lintels for flooring;
  • stops designed to ensure the stability of the structure and prevent it from falling;
  • plank flooring where a person will stand;
  • a protective element to protect the employee from falling down;
  • stepladders or ladders to climb to the required level.

The width of the flooring should be at least 1.5 m. The height between the tiers should be at least 1.8 m. Between the boards and boards, slots with a width of not more than 10 mm are allowed. If a continuous flooring is created, the boards can be overlapped along the length, having previously beveled the ends of the elements.

Useful advice! When performing outdoor renovation and construction work, it is recommended to use a facade scaffolding mesh, which will prevent workers, materials and tools from falling. It will also protect the finish from the sun, dust, gusts of wind and precipitation.

Depending on the composition of functional elements and the option of their fastening, all scaffolding is divided into four types: wedge, clamp, frame and pin. The structures are attached, rack-mountable and collapsible. The exception is scaffolding, where frames are used instead of vertical posts. There are also suspension devices, which can not only be installed on the ground, but also attached to the building. These include clamp, cup and wedge scaffolding.

What material is scaffolding made of: product photos

Scaffolding - the photos clearly show different options - can be wooden, galvanized, steel and aluminum. The latter option is the lightest and most mobile, it is advisable to use it for indoor or outdoor work at a low height. The strongest and most durable are considered steel structures, which are easily repaired, which cannot be said about aluminum scaffolding. Galvanized products are also durable. Their main advantage is corrosion resistance, therefore it the best option for outdoor work, where they can stand for a long time in adverse weather conditions.

The price of scaffolding made of steel and galvanized steel will be much higher than that of analogues made of other materials. In addition, such structures are the most heavy, which complicates their transportation. However, such forests are able to withstand not only people, but also necessary tools and materials. Therefore, steel and galvanized structures are used most often for large-scale construction and installation work.

Today, metal structures from the Dmitrovsky Scaffolding Plant are very popular. The products are characterized by high strength, reliability, durability and reasonable cost.

In addition to metal scaffolding, they are often used wooden crafts that are simple and economical to implement. They can be easily made yourself from scrap materials. However, this design is more cumbersome. Despite the fact that it is collapsible, like other analogs, the boards, due to the fact that they will be stained and damaged by nails, can hardly be used for other events. Such a product is designed to perform work at the maximum level of the second floor.

Frame folding scaffolding: the price of products

Frame-type scaffolding is the cheapest and easiest option to operate. The structure includes ready-made elements from welded hollow pipes in the form of vertical frames, supports, horizontal and diagonal ties. Due to the fact that a lot of metal is not spent on the manufacture of elements, the structure is characterized by light weight, quick installation and disassembly.

The assembly of the frame scaffolding is carried out using flag fasteners or clamps. Such constructions are used as for interior decoration premises, as well as during external plastering and painting works of buildings with a simple facade. Due to their low weight, in the scaffolding, you can easily change the sectioning, as well as transfer them to another place.

You can buy frame scaffolding of one of the types: LRSP-30, LRSP-40, LRSP-60 and LRSP-100, where the numerical value indicates the maximum installation height. However, the structures differ not only in size, but also in the diameter of the pipes and the thickness of the walls of the constituent elements. The first two types are produced with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 1.5 mm, and the other two are 48 and 3 mm, respectively. The price of frame scaffolding starts at 125 rubles / m².

The structures can be equipped with wheels, which facilitates easy movement of the unit on flat ground. The standard dimensions of the product are as follows: section height - 2 m, length - 2-3 m, passage width - 1 m.

Installation of scaffolding scaffolding: sequence of actions

Shoes and wooden spacers are installed on a prepared, tamped, level platform. The screw supports can be positioned if required. Adjacent frames of the first tier are placed in the shoes with their subsequent connection by diagonal and horizontal ties. The next two frames with ties are placed in three-meter increments. The process is carried out until the creation of frame lightweight scaffolding of the required length. On the edges of the structure, railing frames are mounted with the subsequent installation of the stairs.

Important! The supporting surfaces must be located strictly in the horizontal plane.

Next, they proceed to the installation of the second tier, which is also connected by ties, however, the diagonal elements are staggered relative to the previous row. Here you can use the crossbars on which wood floorings are laid. To move people between the tiers, inclined stairs are installed in the places reserved for hatches.

Frame scaffolding scaffolding is attached to the wall in a staggered manner in 4 m increments using hooks with bushings or plugs with clamps or brackets attached to the scaffold frame posts. The above actions are carried out until the required installation height is reached.
On the safety and working tier, there are longitudinal and end connections of fences, which are mounted in the place where there are no diagonal ties. Forests are installed along a plumb line. Dismantling of the collapsible scaffolding is carried out in the reverse order, starting from the top row.

Mobile scaffolding on wheels

The most profitable option to perform quick repair are the tour scaffolds that are considered a variety frame installation... The design is robust and easy to assemble. The mobility of the installation is provided by the wheels located at the base of the vertical supports. A significant advantage of the tour tower is the presence of a jack in the design of the device. The height of the product does not exceed 20 m. The loading capacity of the installation is 300 kg / m².

The structure is made mainly of aluminum, which makes it light and easy to move. Less commonly, you can find steel tours that have high strength and reliability, but are characterized by reduced mobility due to their high weight.

Tower-tours are actively used in the installation of air conditioners, lighting, video surveillance, banners, billboards, cornices, wall and balcony decoration, repair of gutters and roofs. There are two types of construction: non-collapsible telescopic and collapsible. In the first version, a special mechanism is provided, thanks to which the tour is extended to the required height. This type is used indoors.

For outdoor decoration or renovation works demountable towers are used, which have a more complex structure with supports and diagonal braces. Each subsequent section is built into the supports of the lower module on the bushings, resulting in an overall design. With an installation height of 1.3 m, the structure is equipped with handrails and sides. Today you can rent a tower or buy scaffolding, the price of which is in the range of 150-200 rubles / m².

Mobile scaffolding on wheels should be used in cases where it is necessary to frequently change the location of the installation. Special brake screws are used to fix the structure in place.

Clamp scaffolding: design features

This type of scaffolding is the most laborious to assemble, since each connection of vertical supports with horizontal, diagonal and transverse ties is carried out using special clamps, which are tightened with a wrench. Fasteners can be blind or rotatable. Depending on this, the connection of the racks can be made at a right angle or at any angle, respectively. Due to the fact that a large number of fasteners are required for the installation of a structure, clamp scaffolds are the most expensive.

Useful advice! When assembling the structure, you can combine clamps, which will create the installation of the desired configuration.

Due to the presence of diagonal ties, the structure is durable, reliable and stable. However, this is the most difficult option for scaffolding to install and dismantle.

The main advantages of the design are the ability to manufacture an installation of any shape and the expediency of combining it with another version of the auxiliary rack-mount metal structure. Such a structure is mounted along the perimeter of a building of any configuration, even in the presence of protruding elements. The device can be used for inclined structures.

Manufacturers release various options clamp-type scaffolding, differing in the maximum installation height, which can be from 30 to 80 m. Standard width scaffolding - 1-1.5 m, tier step - 2-2.5 m. These parameters vary depending on the configuration of the structure. The maximum load on the structure is 150-250 kg / m. The installation can be bought or rented. The price of scaffolding starts from 250 rubles / m2. Rent will cost 80 rubles. per m2.

Useful advice! Clamp scaffolding is recommended for creating stages and stands.

Wedge mobile scaffolding

This structure is created from functional elements using a special wedge fixation. Pipes with flanges are used as vertical components, pipes with holders are used for horizontal components. To make the installation more mobile, it is recommended to equip it with special wheels. Such scaffolds are characterized by durability and reliability. When installing the unit, you can change the direction angle of the connecting elements, which creates multi-level structures of various configurations.

Manufacturers produce wedge scaffolding in the following sizes: section height - 2 m, length - 2-3 m, passage width - 1-3 m. The structure can have heights of 60 and 100 m. The installation can withstand a heavy load of up to 500 kg / m2, therefore the device used during the construction of complex objects in the case when heavy units and materials are being lifted.

Useful advice! To ensure the safety of people who may be near the construction site, it is recommended to buy a scaffolding net designed to enclose the facade of the building.

The scaffolds are easy to use, but require laborious installation. The design is characterized by its versatility, due to which it can be used not only in the construction of buildings, but also in the construction of stages, stands, sheds, overpasses. It is an irreplaceable installation in ship and aircraft construction. The cost of the construction starts from 425 rubles / m². You can rent scaffolding for 85 rubles / m².

Pin Type Collapsible Metal Scaffolding

Such designs are very popular on construction sites due to the easy and quick installation and disassembly of the unit. As a connection point in the scaffolding, pins are used, which are located on the bearing supports. They fit into the holes in the pipes of the connecting elements. The installations are characterized by strength, reliability, rigidity, stability, wear resistance and durability. They can be used many times, easily transported from place to place in disassembled form.

Due to its high load-bearing capacity, the structure can withstand a significant amount of heavy building materials... Such forests are used in areas with difficult terrain and during construction and installation works of structures of a curved configuration. The disadvantages of the design include the large weight of the installation, which is associated with a significant amount of metal.

Today, the sale of pin-type scaffolding of the following varieties is carried out:

  • LSH-50 - up to 50 m high, sectional 2 m high, 1.5-3 m long, 1-2 m wide;
  • ЛСПШ-2000-4 - 40 m high, 1.6 m wide passage, 2 m high sections, 2.5 m long;
  • E-507 - 60 m high, 1.6 m wide passage, 2 m long and high sections.

You can buy a structure from 519 rubles / m². Also, some companies offer to rent the installation. The price of a square meter of scaffolding is 90 rubles / square meter.

DIY wooden scaffolding

If there is a desire to save money, and materials made of wood are at hand, then you can create a structure yourself. Before making scaffolding with your own hands, you should study the requirements for the product so that it is durable and reliable.

The distance between the vertical posts should not be more than 2.5 m.The installation height reaches 6 m.The width of the flooring can be any, but not less than 1 m.It is important that not only a person can fit on it, but also the tools and materials necessary for work ...

For supports and racks, you should use wooden beams with a section of 100x100 mm and boards - 50x100 mm. The thickness of the products for the spacers should not be less than 30 mm, and the thickness of the flooring should not be less than 50 mm. For stiffening ribs, you will need products with a thickness of 25 mm. Thin boards can be used as enclosing elements. To create a reliable structure, it is necessary to use exclusively construction nails. Self-tapping screws are not able to create a reliable connection.

Useful advice! When installing wooden scaffolding, you should take care of their convenient disassembly. For this, it is not recommended to hammer in the nails completely, and you can also use a wooden spacer between the element of the structure and the head.

After the complete set of the installation is prepared, they begin to assemble it. The work starts with large functional elements. Two beams are laid on a horizontal surface at a distance of the length of the structure so that the tops of the elements converge slightly, which will add stability to the installation. For example, if the distance between the lower ends is 3 m, then there should be no more than 2.6 m between the upper ends. Sidewalls are attached to the inner side of the supports, which are the basis for the decks. A similar operation is done with the other two bars.

Useful advice! The side cross members must be of different lengths to result in a pyramidal structure.

The sides are positioned vertically and tilt towards each other for stability. The position is fixed with long transverse nails. To prevent the scaffolding from falling on the wall of the structure, it is recommended to make the cross-members with an allowance of 20-30 cm.

The uprights are installed at a distance of 2-2.5 m, depending on the thickness of the boards used for the flooring. The elements are attached to each other using slopes, thanks to which the structure does not fold to the side. The more jibs and cross-beams, the stronger and more reliable the scaffolding is made with your own hands. If the height of the structure is more than 3 m, it must be additionally secured so that it does not fall forward. For this, jibs are installed, which, on the one hand, are nailed to the beams, and on the other, they are buried in the ground.

The final stage is the installation of the flooring to the transverse beams. You can also add barriers over each platform to increase safety. If you add crossbars to the side elements, a staircase is formed. To give the structure stability, the ends of the supports should be sharpened and buried in the ground.

Attachable scaffolds and construction gantries

Attachable scaffolds are used for simple finishing works where light materials are used. Wooden structures lean against the surface of the building wall and are held by the stop. Although the unit looks unreliable, it is convenient and safe to operate. There are two options for the execution of the attached scaffold: traditional and Armenian. The first installation is simple and reliable, but it is not height adjustable. It can be used for filing roof overhangs, installing gutters and other works that are characterized by a small variation in height.

Armenian forests are produced from the minimum amount of materials, easily and quickly assembled, moved and disassembled. The main thing is to make triangles, raise them to a given height, arrange them in 3 m increments and support them with inclined beams that are fixed in the ground.

At exterior decoration single-storey buildings and for work on the gables, construction racks are used, where the flooring is laid on wooden beams. Installations are also used in cases where nothing can be supported on the walls. The structure is not bulky and lightweight, it can be moved to the desired location.

The construction goat is a four-legged wooden structure resembling the shape of the letter "A", the height of which reaches the height of a master. The number of spacers can be arbitrary. Conventional canopies are used to connect the upper ends of the supports. The legs are fixed with stops. On one side, the stand can be made vertically, without inclination. This will allow you to install the structure closer to the wall, which is convenient for painting, caulking or preventive treatment.

Thanks to the many options for scaffolding, it is possible to select the design required for specific work. When choosing a product, it is important to take into account not only its cost, but also the features of the terrain, the surface to be treated, the timing of the work. Based on this information, it is easy to choose your type of construction for each case.

Scaffolding is commonly used to carry out any kind of engineering work at a certain height. Structures are classified not only by the type of material used for installation, but also by the method of fastening the constituent elements. Very often, the need arises when decorating the facades of private houses, when you need to quickly and easily move along the walls.

Using wood material

It is not difficult to make such a design with your own hands. Most often, stable and durable frame-type scaffolds are independently installed. Such installation presupposes the presence of a solid frame, which is stiffened by the installation of diagonals and racks. This type of scaffolding can be manufactured:

  1. Made of wood.
  2. Made of metal.

Wooden scaffolding is easier to install, but to ensure safety, it is recommended to install them yourself only when it is necessary to carry out finishing work at a low height. For example, when decorating the facade of a house on the ground floor level. This is due to the fact that when installing structures of greater height, it is difficult to provide them with the necessary rigidity and stability.

Metal constructions

Metal scaffolding, the frame of which is made of pipes and profiles, has a number of advantages in comparison with wooden ones, namely:

  1. Higher strength, which guarantees safety during work.
  2. Good rigidity, which provides comfort during work.
  3. Ease of assembly, as the metal components are fixed using simple and reliable fastening methods.
  4. Durability during storage, which means the possibility of reusable scaffolding.
  5. Absolute fire safety.

The photo shows the finished section. It is from such elements that the structure of frame scaffolding of any size is formed.

Many are interested in whether it is possible to trust self-assembled scaffolding. After all, carrying out work at a height is always associated with danger, and, therefore, when using the structure, complete safety must be guaranteed. In this regard, the question of how to make durable scaffolding is quite relevant.

The process of installing frame scaffolding from metal components is not particularly difficult, therefore, all installation operations can be done by hand if you have basic carpentry and metalworking skills. The main thing is to be extremely careful during installation, and to perform all operations efficiently and slowly.

Frame-type scaffolding is mainly used for work on straight facades. They are considered absolutely safe when carrying out work operations at a height of up to 50 m. And this is much higher than wooden structures allow.

A generalized diagram of a frame type structure is presented below:

Installation of metal scaffolding

To build quality and reliable design metal scaffolding you will need the following:

  • Profile with a cross section of 30 x 30 mm. for the installation of vertical racks.
  • Pipes with a diameter of 15 mm. for mounting screeds between posts horizontally and diagonally.
  • Profile with a section of 25 x 25 mm. to form work platform supports and safety rails.
  • Boards that are about 5 cm thick to form a work platform.
  • Bolts with nuts and washers for fastening metal components.
  • Self-tapping screws for fixing boards.

Before installing this type of scaffolding, it is necessary to think over the construction plan and the location of the sections. The calculation of the material is carried out according to ready-made drawings, which can be made in any form. But at the same time, it is very important that they take into account the following design features for each individual section:

  1. Height between tiers: 2 m.
  2. Width between uprights: 1 m.
  3. Length between uprights: 3 m.

The number of sections is calculated depending on the length of the wall and the height of the house.

Stages of work

Before starting the installation, it is necessary to carefully compact the soil in the area where the scaffolding is planned. It is also advisable to equip a drainage system to prevent soil erosion in rainy weather.

At the first stage, pipe sections with a diameter of 15 mm are cut. the required length and the required quantity according to the drawings.

Cuts are made on both sides at the ends so that they can be flattened. This will allow you to make a high-quality connection with vertical posts, for which a metal profile is used.

Further, at the construction site, the location of the vertical racks is marked. First, shoes are installed in these places, and then vertical posts are fixed in them, which are pulled together by transverse beams and diagonal braces in the places indicated in the drawings.

Fixation is carried out using bolts, nuts and washers, which are installed in the pre- drilled holes... Similarly, diagonal braces are fastened at the intersection points.

After that, you should proceed to the arrangement of the working platform from the boards, which are pre-cut to size. To do this, with a step of no more than half a meter, a support profile is mounted on the upper crossbeams between the posts. Boards are attached to it with self-tapping screws. A safety fence is provided around the work area to ensure safety. Ladder to climb upper tier scaffolding can be purchased, or it can be formed using a profile between the side racks of the frame.

Metal scaffolding can consist of several tiers. This design is formed from the required number of separate sections that are welded together. It should be remembered that in this case, in order to ensure the rigidity of the product, diagonal ties must be installed in a staggered manner.

IMPORTANT! Self-made scaffolding must be robust and able to support the weight of people, tools, construction materials, and supplies.

If there is the slightest doubt about the impossibility of providing the necessary strength, you should give preference to purchased professional products.

When carrying out various works at height - from laying walls to cladding the facade or applying plaster, the construction of structures is required that will allow you to perform work comfortably and at the same time ensure safety.

Professional builders use metal scaffolding, which is a pre-fabricated modular system that can have a wide variety of sizes, but for private use it is easier to build a structure from boards, this is what we will consider in the article.

What is required for work

Before you build scaffolding from boards with your own hands, you need to prepare all the required materials and tools:

Racks For them, either a board with a size of 50x100 mm or a wooden beam with a section of 100x100 mm is used, these elements will bear the main load and hold the entire structure, therefore, only high-quality sawn timber should be used without large knots, damage from woodworms and rot, this is very important to ensure safety
Decking and lintels For these elements, a board with a thickness of 40-50 mm is used, it is important here that the flooring can easily withstand the weight of several people and a small supply of materials (if necessary)
Spacers The elements that give rigidity and preserve the geometry of the structure being erected are made of a board with a thickness of 30-32 mm, it is also used to create fences, which are essential to ensure a safe work process, because it is never excluded that someone will slip or stumble on the scaffolding
Fasteners Either nails or thick self-tapping screws are used to ensure maximum reliability and strength of all joints. You can use and modern version- mounting angles and plates, with their help the structure can be made even more reliable and durable, besides the price of these elements is low

Important!
Do not forget about the tool, as you will need to cut wood, hammer in nails or twist self-tapping screws, as well as take measurements, for this the easiest way is to use a tape measure, a square and a construction pencil.

The working process

The instruction on how to make scaffolding with your own hands from boards is quite simple, it is important to follow all the recommendations and requirements, it is with them that we will begin to consider the issue.

Basic design requirements

There are several generally accepted rules, the observance of which guarantees the reliability of the forests you collect and ensures the highest safety:

  • The distance between the racks should not exceed 2-2.5 meters, since with a longer span, the wood will not be able to provide adequate rigidity, especially under high loads;
  • The width of the decks to ensure comfortable work should be at least 1 meter, but making the structure wider than one and a half meters is also not recommended, as the stability of the system will suffer;
  • The maximum safe height of the structure is 6 meters, this is due to the fact that the same amount is maximum length lumber, and it is not recommended to build up elements.

Stages of work

The whole process consists of several operations that must be performed in a specific sequence:

  • First you need to connect the first 4 racks, for this, first the long side is fastened, this is done with the help of diagonal spacers, the second element is assembled in the same way, after which the end sides are connected with the help of all the same spacers, then the resulting structure must be placed and checked for stability, if necessary, reinforcement is performed using additional jumpers and perforated corners;

  • Next, you need to fix the jumpers, their location depends on the level at which the work will be performed. It is important to calculate everything correctly in order to ensure the convenience of the process, if two rows of flooring are used, respectively, two rows of jumpers are made, they will also serve as elements that provide rigidity, for additional reinforcement of the support it makes sense to fasten it to corners with stiffeners;
  • The flooring is arranged along the fixed lintels, for its device, only a reliable board is taken without cracks and damage, it is necessary to cut it into pieces of the required length so that excess parts do not stick out at the edges, these elements are best fastened with self-tapping screws, since the wood cracks from them much less, and fixation is obtained much better;

  • Next, you need to attach the fence elements, their location directly depends on the place of the decks. It is a generally accepted rule that the elements should not be below the waist level, sometimes it makes sense to nail in two rows of boards to provide even more safety. Here lumber is used with a thickness of at least 30 mm, so that, if necessary, it can withstand a sufficiently large force and not break;
  • The next step is to install the supporting elements, their number and configuration depends on the characteristics of a particular situation, the height of the forests and the reliability of the soil around the house. It is important to learn one simple rule here - as many supports are installed as necessary to ensure the best stability of the system you have built. The elements rest well against the soil, after which they are attached to the support posts;

Advice!
If the structure is wooden, then for additional reliability the system is attached to the walls, this will significantly strengthen the structure, everything is very simple: the bar is fixed with one end to the rack, and the other on the wall.
