Connecting the boiler to the heating system. Boilers Proterm Skat - pros and cons, installation options

Heating equipment is necessary to ensure the comfort in the premises. Electric heating boilers Protherm stand out for their high quality and long service life among competitors.

Protherm is a popular European manufacturer of heating equipment. In the heat engineering market, the company has declared itself as a manufacturer of high quality boilers.

Protherm has branches and service centers on all continents. The range of the company - more than 100 models of boiler units, designed for all classes of consumers, accompanying heating equipment and accessories. The manufacturer's innovation is condensing boilers.

A distinctive feature of Protherm is the availability of services throughout the country. Service is carried out both by our own craftsmen and with the involvement of craftsmen from partner companies.

By installation method:

  • wall-mounted (installation is provided in a niche);
  • hinged;
  • floor-standing (the boiler is installed directly on the floor covering - this is considered the best option for private houses).

Device

All models of boiler equipment Proterm consist of the main units:

  • Heating elements. Heating elements of models of medium and high power consist of several elements (blocks). Three-phase consists of three single-phase. A separate voltage relay must be installed for each phase (to prevent phase imbalance).
  • Electronic control unit. Includes intermediate relay, fuses, terminals, power supply, etc.
  • Din-rail. On which modular equipment is installed: relays, differential circuit breakers or RCDs, voltage stabilizers and ground is connected.
  • Circulation pump. For pumping the coolant into the system and maintaining the operating pressure in the circuits.

Important! The pump is built into the boiler drum. All connections and adjustments were made by the manufacturer and therefore also covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

  • The body of the device, in which all nodes are installed, are connected to power wires and heating pipes.

Equipment automation

Automation and instrumentation are designed to monitor and prevent emergencies during the operation of boiler equipment Proterm.

Equithermal temperature measurement function saves energy consumption depending on weather conditions: on warm days the boiler operates at minimum power, on cold days at maximum load.

Electronics composition:

  • Safety valve (to prevent overpressure in the system).
    Anti-jamming device.
  • RCD. Protects people and animals from leakage currents when touching the body of a defective device.
  • Load regulator relay. When connected to a household electrical network, the relay automatically smoothly lowers the boiler power. With the normalization of the network, the automation brings the device to normal operation.
  • Temperature relay. When the temperature in the room drops to 8 degrees, the pump starts. For this function to work, an air temperature sensor must be connected.
  • The control panel is equipped with the function of memorizing parameters and setting the boiler power. For medium models with several heating elements, it is possible to work in operating modes with a reduced load.

  • Installation must be carried out in accordance with the attached instructions for each model. Protherm recommends using a professional service because in this case, the warranty for service and repair will apply.

Important! When self-mounting the equipment, damage to the case is frequent, which can lead to a breach of warranty obligations on the part of the consumer.

  • The place of installation must be carefully thought out: boilers must be easily accessible for inspection and maintenance. Measuring instruments must be in a conspicuous place.
  • If a forced circulation system is used, the boiler must be installed at the highest point of the heating system.
  • When installing several boilers in a room, a parallel connection must be used.
  • The cable cross-section, the power of the circuit breakers and the RCD must be selected taking into account the power of the boiler and the circulation pump.
  • In the house, grounding of the TN-C-S or TN-S type must be carried out, the heating system devices must be grounded.

For the device to work correctly, you need to configure it correctly:

  • Connect the boiler to the household power supply.
  • Set the temperature of the heating system.
  • Adjust the operating parameters for pressure and power.
  • Start equipment. If there are no failures in the operation of the unit within 3 days, the installation is considered successful.

Line of single-circuit boilers Skat

As a separate segment, Protherm presented single-circuit electric boilers. The Skat series is designed for heating and hot water supply residential buildings and administrative buildings in the absence of gas supply. Wall installation.

The models are available with a rated power from 6 to 28 kW with the ability to connect measuring instruments (thermostat and pressure gauge) and voltage stabilizers.

The advantages of the line:

  • high efficiency of the installation;
  • fast heating of premises;
  • ease of installation, no need for constant maintenance;
  • environmental Safety;
  • full automation of the process;
  • standard connecting thread for connecting pipes 3/4 ″;
  • noiselessness;
  • anti-freeze function;
  • high accuracy of operating parameters adjustment;
  • low power consumption;
  • no need for a separate room to install the unit;
  • lack of a chimney;
  • the ability to work from a network of 220 and 380 V.

Important! All models of the Skat line are equipped with displays and a convenient control panel, a soft start and pump run-down function.

Models at a glance

  • 6 kV. The circuit has two heating elements of 3 kW each. The main application is residential buildings.

Important! High capacity Protherm boilers can be installed in parallel.

The cost of Protherm products depends on the specific model and equipment selected, availability, type and duration of the warranty. Low-power models can be purchased from 10,000 rubles, the cost of high-performance boilers reaches several hundred thousand rubles.

Conclusion

Electric boilers of the Protherm Skat line are the best solution for heating and hot water supply of residential and office buildings, where it is difficult or absent to connect to the gas supply system.

High efficiency and low energy consumption fully pays for the cost of equipment and installation over several heating seasons.

Question: Recently I noticed that the voltage stabilizer clicks after that the boiler starts to work unstably, what could it be?

Answer: It's not about the boiler. The stabilizer clicks, because the relay is triggered when the voltage in the network drops, it breaks the phase for a short time - this is because of the phase break, the boiler may not behave stably.

Question: There is a Protherm KLZ 50 gas boiler with a turbo nozzle. There was a problem - a stain appeared on the firebox, and it is gradually increasing all the time. They called local specialists, they said that usually no one addressed such problems.

After a few more calls, a specialist (chief engineer) finally arrived and adjusted the gas supply to the boiler - after that the boiler began to work with modulation (that is, first at low speed and then at full speed). Before that, it was always turned on at full power and threshed without stopping in cold weather. It was during the 2013 heating season and the slick stopped growing. This year the whole spot began to grow again. What to do?

Answer: If the insulation of the burner is intact, the stain has no effect on the safety of the equipment.

Question: Maybe the boiler is running frequently and consumes a lot of gas due to the fact that the boiler output is too high? I have S = 220m2, power = 38 kW. I took this power with the prospect of heating the garage. If so, what should I do to stabilize the boiler operation and gas consumption?

Answer: Definitely. It is necessary to reduce the power. Not at a minimum, but in proportion.

Question: Tell me: I am planning a boiler Cheetah 25 who and BKN will proterm B100Z. Are additional 3-way valves and pumps needed.

Answer: The three-way valve and the pump are already built into the boiler. Only the boiler sensor is needed.

Question: what does two stage burner in relation to Grizzly 65 KLO: this is the notorious winter-summer mode (i.e. 1 stage is summer, the second stage is winter) or minimum (1 stage) and maximum (2 stage) of the boiler operation, which are normally set to maximum at the factory, there is no official information on the site, as well as in the manual.

Answer: A 2-stage burner is an analogue of modulation, that is, the boiler can operate at maximum power (stage 2), it can work at a reduced power (stage 1), or it will turn off if there is no heat demand at all. Moreover, both stages are customizable.

Question: if the house is well insulated, then perhaps the 30 kW boiler will also clock. What does it have to do with when one needs cold power, it gets warmer or another, the temperature happens during the day changes by 10-15 degrees, from 0 to -15, etc. How then to be? Provided that any boiler cannot be regulated by yourself, but call a specialist. Explain how to behave with this boiler?

Answer: if the house is well insulated, the likelihood of stroking is reduced. The house cools down more slowly, the coolant in the heating system also cools less, the boiler sees this and does not work at maximum power, but modulates only to maintain it.

Choose a boiler with the maximum power that will cover the maximum heat demand of your home. You do not need to take a large stock (if you do not plan to expand). Further, the boiler will modulate, depending on the need - it has become warmer on the street, the power decreases, colder - it increases.

Question: A Protherm 30 KLOM floor-standing boiler has been installed. The heating project is still under development, combined heating is expected: radiators and underfloor heating. According to the instructions for the boiler, the power of the circular pump must be connected not directly to the outlet, but through the terminals of the boiler, so that the boiler can turn off the pump at low temperatures and, as I understand, in this regard, prevent corrosion of cast iron. But for a warm floor, it is supposed to use a warm floor with mixing unit and another circular pump. With the main heating pump turned off, the underfloor heating pump can still circulate through the boiler if it is plugged directly into the socket.

In this regard, 2 groups of questions:

1) It turns out that for the safety of the boiler, it is imperative to hang both pumps on the terminals of the boiler? But in the instructions I did not find explanations on this matter and the maximum power of the connected equipment. Is this possible, what is the maximum power and is it possible to see some kind of link to
document authorizing it?

2) In addition, ideally, I would like to connect the underfloor heating pump power through the thermostat installed in the room (it turns on the 220V power when the temperature decreases and turns off when the temperature increases), to automate the floor temperature control. It turns out that this is, in principle, impossible?

Answer: You cannot connect two pumps to one terminal. Proterm has no such control scheme. There is a cascade automation to control the TP. SD2000 is discontinued.

Question: I can not find data on the pump power for this boiler, can you help? For example, if we have one pump with a pressure of 4 meters, then it consumes 45 W, if 6 meters, then it consumes 80 W, if one pump is 8 meters, then it consumes 170 W. So why is it not possible to connect 2-3 pumps of 45-80 W each? What is the reason for this?

Answer: This is due to the fact that the manufacturer provides for the connection of only one pump to the terminals. Connection of 2 or more - at your own peril and risk.

Question: on connecting the B200S boiler to the KLOM 30 Bear floor gas boiler. The manual for the B200S says: To ensure the operation of the boiler with the PROTHERM boiler, an electromechanical three-way separating valve with a built-in electric
changeover contact size DN? " (for use with wall mounted boilers) or DN 1 ”(for use with floor standing cast iron boilers).

The manual for KLOM says: The boiler control system regulates the heating of the boiler using the pump and the NTC sensor of the boiler. Nothing is said about the 3-way valve. It is not entirely clear which scheme is preferable? Which electromechanical 3-way diverter valve with integrated electrical changeover contact is meant? Where can I see its characteristics? The principle of controlling the circulation pump is not yet clear, does the boiler turn off the pump or change its performance?

Answer: These are two possible schemes for connecting the boiler to KLOM - through a three-way and through pumps. In the first case, pumps are not needed, except for the circulation, in the second - three-way.

Question: Proterm skat - is it possible to operate it painlessly from a generator by single-phase circuit inclusion?

Answer: Models 6K and 9K can operate from a network with a voltage of both ~ 380V and ~ 220V, others only from ~ 380V.

Question: Is it correct to connect the Medved KLZ 30 floor-standing boiler through a hydraulic separator to separate heating circuits (Conditionally 2 circuits, respectively, tied to automatic temperature control). I ask another question - in KLZ, the heating circuit of the built-in boiler is already integrated and, logically, when the boiler pump is turned on, the boiler circuit pump will be turned off.

Accordingly, there is no circulation - the secondary circuits will work for themselves, that is, they will drive the cooled coolant until the boiler pump turns off and the boiler pump turns on. Or no
bother and put the KLOM 30 and connect the boiler to the hydraulic switch as a third circuit? Who will advise what?

Answer: Protherm does not have such recommended schemes, but it does not prohibit them either. That is, they have a right to exist. This is the question of correctness. As for the schemes. I believe that it is possible to do this and that, there are two nuances: In the first scheme, if you forget to close the hot water tap, the heating system will cool down and freeze in frost. In the second scheme, this will not happen. Boiler room dimensions. The second option requires more space.

Question: I installed an electric boiler Skat 21kW, in the process of studying the Instructions for the installation and operation of the boiler, I found information that there should be a minimum distance to the ceiling above the boiler - 800 mm. What is the reason, why such a gap? I did not find such a requirement in the instructions for a gas boiler. Is this the specificity of an electric boiler? In fact, I get about 400 mm. Is this a big problem?

Answer: 800 mm is required to replace the heating element, if you have 400 mm, then to replace the heating element you will have to remove the boiler, this will not affect the operation of the boiler.

Question: We have a 25 ktv panther boiler connected, a specialist launched a week ago. In the morning I woke up, the error message f68 is on, there is no such error in the book, what should I do? I try to reset the reset error, the boiler starts up to a temperature of 32 and gives an error.

Answer: The problem is the loss of flame. That is, either the boiler does not see the flame (see towards the ionization electrodes), or there really is no flame (see towards the gas - supply or gas valve).

Question: The problem is, there is a Protherm KLOM 50 with a turbo nozzle that has worked for 1.5 years, it does not start. When the turbo nozzle is turned on, the display shows the current temperature of the coolant and the indicator flickers on the right in the corner and that's it! What is it?

Answer: It is possible that the turbo attachment manostat is stuck. If abnormally low Atmosphere pressure- reduce sensitivity.

Question: For a house S = 100 m2, which is the best floor-standing or wall-mounted boiler? taking into account the connection of underfloor heating in two rooms S = 16 AND 18 M2 AND THREE water sampling points. my choice fell on proterm but what exactly I do not know please tell me?

Answer: Estimated power for your home is about 15 kW. More precisely you will be told in design organization... As for the models, the main difference between wall-mounted and floor-standing boilers is, of course, the dimensions and installation possibilities. They have different variants compatibility with thermostats. Attachments have more control options. It is also important to decide whether a double-circuit boiler or a combination of a single-circuit boiler + boiler.

Question: Installed a Proterm KLOM 40 boiler and a turbo nozzle. I have been operating the boiler since December 2013 ... I monitored the operation of the boiler in arrivals in the morning and in the evening. moved into the house in March and noticed a feature. from time to time, the boiler accelerates to 85 degrees at a set temperature of 60 degrees. moreover, when the boiler accelerates to 85 degrees, the bottom right mark flashes on the screen and the circulation pump does not vibrate (I determine the operation of the pump connected to the boiler by putting my hand on it, otherwise you will not hear). after heating the boiler to 85, the pump turns on and the boiler goes into normal mode ... it cooled down to 55, heated to 65. What could be?

Answer: the diode is blinking - the boiler is operating in the mode of heating water in the boiler. Everything is OK - this is the bacteria protection program in the boiler - short-term heating.

Question: how to determine the frequency of short-term heating? I read that when the water in the boiler is disassembled in a salvo, the boiler gives the command to stop the pump for heating and in priority heats the water in the boiler (200 liter boiler) and after heating the water in the boiler to the nominal, turns on the pump again on the batteries, and since the boiler is in the error does not go away, then the boiler automation does not find violations. There are only two buttons on the boiler, and how smart it turned out to be.

Answer: This boiler does not have the function of protecting against bacteria in the boiler. This is the heating of the boiler. Regardless of the parsing of water, when there is a request for heating water in the boiler, the boiler switches to heating the boiler at maximum power, which is why the temperature rises to 85. Heating
not active at this moment. As soon as the heating of the boiler is finished, the boiler switches over to heating. DHW is a priority.

Question: What is the difference (except for power) of the Cheetah 23 MTV and Panther 25 KTV boilers? The sellers said that there are more copper parts in the Panther (Cheetah is a cheaper Panther). So I want to understand what the fundamental design differences are in order to decide whether it is worth overpaying. What are their heat exchangers made of? when gas and / or electricity are temporarily cut off, both boilers turn on automatically?

Answer: Structurally - different expansion tanks of 5 and 7 liters. Plus there is a difference in the front panel design. they are partly right, since the Panther is more powerful and has a larger heat exchanger. But in general, they are the same. in the event of a disconnection / switching on of electricity - the boilers will turn on, if gas - both in error, turn on after resetting the error.

Question: It is necessary to connect only BKN to the 30 KLOM floor stand. This boiler will only work to load the boiler. Accordingly, the entire system consists of a boiler, a BKN, a safety group, a membrane tank and a circulation pump. How to do it right? Just connect a temperature sensor and a boiler loading pump to the block, or are there any nuances?

Answer: It is necessary to transfer the boiler to the "summer mode" for heating, then it will only work for the boiler. There are no other nuances.

Question: Tell me, the Protherm Cheetah Boiler is installed, on low power burner error 28 or 29 pops up. And it still does not maintain the set temperature (it does not turn off after the set temperature is reached). Where to look, what to twist?

Answer: Your boiler probably has a problem with the gas valve. Here I can only recommend an examination by a specialist.

Question: They installed me a boiler bear klz 40. Started normally, no one lives in the house yet, but left the boiler on. After 2 days I arrived, the boiler with an F1 error is standing. I reset the error, it starts, but after different intervals it throws out F1 again. Could it be from
for insufficient ventilation?

Or dig towards electricity? The voltage seems to be stable, but in any case I will
install the UPS. And the second question is which gsm module is better to put on my proterm to control the boiler via SMS? is it possible to reset errors via SMS? The phase is observed, the hot water boiler is not filled and not switched on.

Answer: This error means blocking the automatic ignition and stopping the gas supply through the gas valve, i.e. loss of flame. Such a blockage can occur in cases when, being in the open gas valve mode, the ignition automation does not receive a return signal about the presence of a flame from the ionization electrode.

This malfunction can also be caused by the activation of the emergency thermostat or the flue gas thermostat. Low gas inlet pressure, incorrect electrical connection (phase and zero are reversed) can also cause loss of flame. If the error cannot be cleared with the RESET button, contact the service organization. Regarding GSM - Proterm does not have such modules.

Question: It turns out that the modulation should work and the boiler will maintain a stable temperature from a water flow of 3 l / min? We will observe in practice. Well, it is clear that with a clogged heat exchanger there will be no normal heat exchange and water flow. We are talking about how the new boiler should work and whether there are gas adjustments for DHW, that is, the ability to reduce the DHW power so that the boiler does not cycle at low pressure in the water supply.

Answer: After switching on, the modulation should maintain a stable temperature. There are no gas adjustments for DHW. The automation itself regulates the operation of the gas fittings.

Question: The SO10045 sensor for connecting a boiler is a thermal resistance. The thermostat has a similar function. Why is a sensor needed to connect a boiler and a boiler?

Answer: the principle of operation is similar, but when operating from the thermostat, the boiler does not receive information from the boiler about the water temperature, therefore it cannot modulate the heating power, but only turns on at full power and turns off, which is not economical. Plus, when using SO10045, the current temperature in the boiler is displayed on the boiler - conveniently and clearly.

Questions to representatives of the company Proterm

Question: The gas floor boiler is wiped out. It is necessary to remake 85 clos with connecting a boiler through a three-way valve to connect a boiler through a pump. I understand that replacing the board solves everything, but still?

Answer: Initially, the boiler must be connected to the 85th KLO through a pump. See wiring diagram. PLO is connected through the boiler.

Question: A floor-standing double-circuit boiler Protherm Bear KLOM 40 and a turbo nozzle are installed. The instructions for the boiler indicate that when connecting the turbo nozzle, it is necessary to short-circuit the terminals of the thermostat of the combustion products. This thermostat, as I understand it, is installed under the chimney. How to bridge it and should it be done? The specialist started the device, but did not even remember for this sensor. Which room regulator do you need to connect? Anyone or there is some kind of trick. Is there a regulator on this model with two pairs of contacts?

Question: Proterm Skat. There is a scheme for the operation of this boiler on hot water supply through a three-way and an NTS sensor. For example, I have an electric boiler of 9-12 kW, I need only 6 kW for heating. I will, of course, soul from the settings panel to the necessary. But when switching to DHW heating, how much will it consume? Are the power settings saved for both DHW and heating? Is it possible to supply, for example, also 6 kW for DHW heating?

Answer: DHW power is not regulated (always full power). Your hot water supply does not always work. And at higher power, the boiler will heat up the water faster. What is more economical, it takes longer to warm up with a weak device or faster with a powerful one, you have to look.

Question: which burner is suitable for the Proterm Bizon 35 NL boiler to operate on liquefied gas, or how much does it cost to reconfigure a conventional gas. burners to work on liquefied gas? And in general, what bad / good can you tell about this model, or recommend something else, since you decided to take a closer look at the floor cast iron boilers... It is necessary to readjust the BTG 3 burner to liquefied gas or set, let down
pipeline from a gas tank or cylinder and does it work?

Answer: No. This burner must have a valve of suitable size to obtain correct ignition and smooth regulation. The valves are selected for a supply pressure of approximately 300 mm BC. I recommend checking the gas pressure of the burner with a water pressure gauge.

Question: I launched the Skat electric boiler, I was just about to buy Instat-2, but it was removed, it turns out to be out of production. What do you recommend in return?

Answer: Take a look at the Termolink S and SD 2000.

Question: I am choosing a double-circuit boiler. Stopped at the Panther 25 KTV or turboTEC pro VUW (mini version). There were questions: As I understand it, the "COMFORT" function of DHW in Panther is an analogue of hot start in Plus. But if the Plus has two additional sensors for DHW, then the Panther does not have them. How is the temperature maintained in the secondary heat exchanger of this apparatus?

Answer: Hot start function. Principle of operation: The burner turns on when the temperature in the primary circuit drops by 30 ° C below the set DHW temperature. The burner turns off when the temperature reaches a difference of 10 ° C below the set DHW temperature. The ECO symbol will appear on the display when the desired DHW temperature is below 50 ° C.

Question: I have a Proterm Pantera double-circuit wall-mounted gas boiler with a cylinder gas burner. There is a strong hum during a cold start. As the antifreeze warms up, the buzzing goes away completely. What could be the reason?

Answer: Cold and hot antifreeze have different characteristics. Thus, while the antifreeze is cold, humming may occur.

Question: could you tell me - I have a PROTHERM B200S boiler with a magnesium electrode, they began to install it, a question arose. At the very top of the tank there is a valve with a diameter, if I'm not mistaken, 3/4 plastic with a thread, about 5 cm long, in the instructions it is marked as RC (recirculation). What is it for, what is connected to it?

Answer: This branch pipe is connected to the DHW line - DHW recirculation.

Question: what is the specificity of connecting the Proterm B100S boiler to the TLO bear non-volatile boiler? The water in the boiler coil, apparently, moves forcibly, and the heating system is implied with the EC, are these completely independent cycles?

Answer: if you connect the boiler according to the scheme with a feed pump, the boiler ceases to be non-volatile, the board changes, pumps are added. If through a 3-way valve, one pump is needed, again the system ceases to be non-volatile.

Question: Boiler gas Proterm Lynx has been working since 2008. What is the service life of such a unit and is it possible to connect an indirect heating boiler to it?

Answer: Under the operating conditions specified by the manufacturer - about 10 years (again, the manufacturer indicates). Protherm does not provide for the possibility of connecting the BKN to the Lynx. If you decide to give it a try, it's on your own responsibility.

Question: what is the difference between wall-mounted boilers Proterm Cheetah 23 MTV, Panther 25 KTV, Tiger 24 KTZ?

Answer: Panther is slightly more powerful than Cheetah (both in heating and hot water supply) + it has a different control panel. The Tiger has a built-in 45 liter storage boiler, which increases the maximum DHW consumption.

Question: I am faced with a choice gas boiler... It needs heating and hot water. The house is about 165 square meters. Tell me by proterm, what is right for me? And one more question - there are boilers with side discharge, that is, there is no need to make a huge chimney and the discharge occurs immediately sideways through the wall? Do you have such? Another question - is it necessary to install a boiler? What does he give? And one more thing - it happens that the electricity is turned off - will all this work without it, or does everyone need e-mail?

Answer: In terms of power and water intake, gas, wall, double-circuit (heating + hot water supply), electrically dependent, with a closed combustion chamber are suitable for you (it is possible to drain the combustion components sideways through the wall). Boilers Cheetah 23 MTV, Panther 25 KTV, Tiger 24 KTZ, gas, floor-standing, with combustion, an additional boiler is required for hot water supply. Bear 30 TLO is electrically dependent. Bears 30 PLO / KLOM / KLZ -
electrically dependent, it is possible to install (additionally) the "Semi-turbo" extension, which will make it possible to divert the combustion components to the side through the wall, but it works on electricity.

Question: Boiler KLZ 30 Proterm Medved. Strange operation from outdoor temperature sensor. T - 55 gr. C, curve - E5, the lower the air temperature, the hotter it becomes at home, and vice versa, the closer to zero, the colder. So the temperature in the house jumps (with one setting mode) from 22 gr. From to 30. You have to constantly "play" with temperature or curve. Is it possible to convert this boiler to home wireless sensors?

Answer: In the equithermal regulation mode, the temperature of the coolant in the boiler is regulated depending on the change in the outside air temperature. Therefore, you can only "play" here with a curve. By sensors - there are no wireless regulators in the Russian Protherm catalog.

Question: the KLZ 30 Bear boiler was installed in March last year, it worked well, now when the air temperature drops, the temperature has been added to 80 grams, the boiler goes out. throws error F1. works normally up to 70 grams, and when t rises, it goes out. We tried to twist the gas supply adjustment wheel, it does not help.

Answer: Try the RESET button to reset the error if the problem remains, you need to call the service, since you need to look for a problem in the operation of the ionization electrode, gas valve, etc.

Question: what is the reason for the limitation on the volume of the coolant in the heating system when using a wall-mounted gas boiler Protherm Lynx (70 liters)? If the systems are assembled from steel pipes and cast-iron radiators (works flawlessly for several years) on an area of 180 sq. m., obviously with an excess of the maximum volume of the coolant, then what kind of problems should we expect?

Answer: This is due to the capacity of the expansion tank in the boiler (5 liters).

Question: which regulator can be connected to Panther 25 WHO, the problem is that the boiler heats CO + warm floors (connected through a thermostat with a separate pump), now I took Protherm Instat Plus for testing, when it turns off the boiler, the pump drives over the underfloor heating cold water. I would like the temperature of the coolant in the boiler unit to drop by 5 degrees at night, the temperature in the house will drop and the warm floor will not cool down.

Answer: Protherm Instat Plus will do your job well. (The programmable regulator with weekly and daily programs allows you to set up to 6 different time intervals within one day. During these time intervals, you can set any temperature from the permissible temperature range). Thermolink Lux will also be able to regulate by day of the week and time intervals.

Question: I need not to turn off the boiler, but to reduce the temperature of the coolant in the boiler: example: from 65 to 61 at night, Thermolink Lux will be able to do this, or just like Protherm Instat Plus off. boiler at the set temperature in the room?

Answer: Thermolink Lux is connected via eBus, it will regulate the power of the boiler.

Question: In the boiler manual indirect heating indicated that tap water it is heated by heating water. How can this boiler be used to prepare hot water in the summer when the heating is turned off? Where it is necessary to place such a boiler: in the boiler room (five meters of the hot water supply line) or in the immediate vicinity of the draw-off points (bathroom) so that there is no
interruption in hot water supply? Is the second option technically possible?

Answer: If everything is correctly designed and installed, the water will be heated in summer without heating. it doesn't matter where to install, in any case there are options to organize DHW supply nonstop.

Question: In the passport for the Panther double-circuit boiler, the maximum temperature in the heating circuit is 85 g, but only 75 g is installed on the boiler. what is the reason? How to raise it to 85 grams, otherwise when it's frosty outside, the temperature in the house is above 18 grams. does not rise.

Answer: The Panther has a maximum temperature of 80 degrees. Set by parameter d. 71.

Question: Are the thermostat contacts dry contacts? According to the documentation, the thermostat is 3-pin, that is, can it be used as, NO and NC contacts?

Answer: Yes, you can.

Question: It is not clear about connecting the boiler to the network to provide protection against corrosion. In the description in fig. 2, which shows the thermostat contacts?

Answer: You just need to connect the boiler to the network, there is a board inside, the anode is connected to it.

Question: The instructions mention a magnesium anode. As I understand it, it needs to be changed sometime. How it's done? Is there a minimum distance between the ceiling and the boiler for wall mounting?

Answer: The powered anode does not need to be changed. The distance between the ceiling and the boiler is not regulated.

Question: Tell me what is the reason for the value of the minimum gas pressure at the nozzles of 1.1 mbar. on a gas boiler panther 25 ktv 19v? Why is it not recommended to set a lower value?

Answer: At a pressure of 1.1 mbar, the boiler will give out the passport value of the minimum power, therefore, there is nowhere below it.

Question: tell me the Protherm 30 KLOM gas boiler is phase-independent?

Answer: The boiler is designed to be connected to a single-phase three-wire 220 V 50 Hz electrical network with a protective conductor in accordance with the current PUE. It is not allowed to swap the wires "phase" (L - brown wire) and "zero" (N - blue wire). Connecting the boiler to the electrical network is an intervention in internal organization apparatus. This work should only be carried out by a specialist.

Question: I have Proterm 30 KLOM. Tell me, how critical is the loss of voltage in the network for his brain? Does the boiler have sensors that will turn it off when there is no mains voltage? How does overheating protection work? If it's critical, how is it customary to fight?

Answer: The overheating protection function turns on the heating pump when the temperature of the water in the heating system exceeds the value set by the user or if the temperature of the heating medium in the boiler exceeds 85 ° C. If the temperature of the heating medium in the boiler exceeds 90 ° C (fault F3), the boiler will turn off automatically. In the event of a power outage, the device will turn off. When the power supply is restored, the boiler will automatically turn on without losing the set operating parameters. If, after the power supply has been restored, a fault message appears on the display of the device, unblock the boiler using the RESET button. Boiler shutdown can occur due to its overheating as a result of stopping the pump after.

Question: The Proterm boiler has been in operation since October 2013. The installation of the boiler, heating and water supply systems was carried out by local specialists. The heating system consists of 5 (40 sections) and a PVC pipe d = 25mm with a length of about 40 m. I will try to describe the heating system: the boiler is installed on the 1st floor, a horizontal pipe section is laid from it to the second floor, from this "riser" two horizontal sections are divorced: on the 1st and 2nd floors, on the 1st floor there are 2 radiators in 8 sections, on the 2nd - 3 radiators in 6, 8 and 10 sections.

The water supply system consists of:

Pumping station - supplies water from the well (on / off pressure, respectively, 1 / 3.5 atm.);
- coarse filter;
- PVC pipe d = 25 mm divorced around the house (length about 10 m).

Heating problems appeared 2 months after the start-up of the system, during this time the boiler warmed up both heating and water. (if it was set to 60 gr. it warmed up to 65-68 gr. and turned off, turned on at 52-56 gr., and now the setting is 75 gr., and the temperature above 62 gr. does not rise; with water interruption - it will heat up, and after for a while the cold one goes). After installing those. service has not yet been performed.

Answer: You need to look towards the hydraulics of the system, gas supply. And these things require a specialist.

Question: And how do the brains of the Proterm boiler react to a temporary power outage?

Answer: It shouldn't, just turn on and that's it. May show an error - RESET is reset. If, in addition to switching off, there are jumps (without a stabilizer), then the board may be damaged.

Question: The boiler does not work on a timer. And how does the DHW saving mode turn on on the timer?

Answer: It is necessary to check whether the DHW temperature sensor is installed correctly and is working correctly. Check resistance. Replace the sensor if necessary. In addition, check the functioning of the electronic board, DHW pump, etc.

Question: tell me, a cheetah 23 turbo wall-mounted boiler, underfloor heating system, an area of 80 squares, plus one cast-iron radiator (5 sections) in the boiler room. The boiler temperature is set to 60 degrees. Everything was fine. But a week ago, he stopped heating up to the set temperature - 54-55 and that's it. He sinned on the temperature for 30 on the street, but today it was 20 in the afternoon, and he did not catch up to 60. Plus, the hot water supply began to work, somehow it was not so - it flows hot for 5 minutes, and then it is warm, although the device is working. What happened?

Answer: Perhaps there was a fall inlet pressure gas and the unit stopped working out the passport characteristics. It is necessary to check the settings of the boiler, the condition of the hydraulics, etc. Such phenomena must be diagnosed on the spot.

Question: I have a Proterm Medved 40 KLOM boiler, the heating pump is connected directly to the electrical network, is this correct? and can I connect it directly to the boiler and what will it give me?

Answer: Connecting a heating pump to a separate machine may be due to local circumstances and the hydraulic circuit of the furnace. It would be more correct to connect the pump to the boiler so that the circulation of the coolant through the heat exchanger is controlled by the boiler automation and the apparatus does not go into overheating.

For heating and hot water supply of apartments and small private houses with one bathroom, double-circuit is usually used gas boilers.

In large houses with several sanitary rooms, single-circuit gas boilers with a storage boiler for preparing hot water are more often used for heating. This system provides more comfortable use. hot water in the House.

A two-circuit gas boiler Protherm Gepard 23 MTV is installed in the apartment of a new house with apartment heating. Next, we will consider setting the boiler power using this apartment as an example.

Gas boilers of the Protherm Gepard series (Gepard) are almost a complete analogue (simpler version) of the Protherm Panther (Panther) boilers. This article describes in detail the adjustment, setting the power of the Protherm Gepard and Protherm Panther gas boilers.

It should be noted that the company that produces boilers of the Protherm series at its other plant produces gas boilers of the well-known Vaillant brand. Gas boilers Vaillant are in a higher price category due to the use of better materials for the manufacture of heat exchangers. But in terms of design, other parts used, and settings of the service menu, gas boilers of the Vaillant brand are very similar to Protherm boilers.

The principles of regulation, power settings described in this article suitable for gas boilers of many others trade marks and manufacturers.

The internal structure of a double-circuit gas boiler Protherm Gepard 23 MTV and Panther 25,30 KTV (Panther)

Reasons for the cycling (impulse operation) of the boiler in heating mode

The operating manual indicates that the net heat output of the Protherm Gepard 23 MTV boiler is regulated in the range from a maximum of 23.3 kWh... to a minimum 8.5 kWh... The factory setting for heating power is 15 kWh.

The total area of the apartment, which is heated by the boiler, is 60 m 2... Heating devices (radiators) are installed to heat the apartment with a total maximum heat output of 4 kWh.

How to determine the maximum heat output of a heating circuit in a house or apartment

How to determine the maximum heating output of a heating circuit? On the websites of radiator manufacturers and sellers, we find the thermal power of each radiator installed in the house. In the catalogs of manufacturers, the heat transfer of radiators is presented in 2 modes: 1) 90/70/20 degrees and 2) 75/65/20, you need to look at the heat transfer by the parameter “75-65 / 20”. The sum of the capacities of all radiators connected to the boiler will be equal to the maximum heat output of the heating circuit. For the apartment from our example, this value turned out to be 4 kW.

The installers installed the boiler and put it into operation, "forgetting" to carry out the commissioning work. The boiler was started to work with the factory setting of the maximum output in heating mode 15 kWh.

Obviously, a heating system with a maximum output of only 4 kWh., will not be able to accept the produced by the boiler thermal energy capacity 15 kWh... The boiler burner power is regulated within certain limits by the automatics. But there is a huge difference in the size of the boiler power and heating appliances leads to the fact that the boiler automation is not able, without additional settings, to bring the boiler power in line with the needs of the heating system.

The big difference between the power of a gas boiler and the power of heating devices, among other disadvantages, leads to the cyclical operation of the boiler.

By the way, about other disadvantages of a too powerful boiler. The service manual of the Protherm Gepard 23 MTV boiler indicates its efficiency in heating mode: 93.2% at maximum heat output (23.3 kWh.) and 79.4% when operating at minimum power (8.5 kWh.) Imagine how the efficiency will decrease even if this boiler has to work with a heating system with a capacity of 4 kWh... Please note that a double-circuit boiler operates in heating mode most of the time during the year, with a minimum power. At least 1/4 of the gas consumed for heating will literally fly out uselessly into the pipe. This will be a payback for installing too powerful equipment for heating and hot water supply in the house.

Tips on the topic "How to increase the efficiency of a gas boiler" can be found if you read this article to the end.

Excessive cyclicality, impulsiveness of work, or, as they say in the people, "clockwork of the boiler" manifests itself in the fact that the boiler burner after switching on quickly turns off when the set temperature in the straight pipe at the outlet of the boiler is reached. But at the same time, the radiators remain not warmed up to this set temperature - the water heated in the boiler simply does not have time to reach the heating devices. That is, the boiler produces more heat energy per unit of time than a less powerful heating circuit is capable of accepting. Therefore, the temperature of the water leaving the boiler rises rapidly and it turns off earlier, not having time to heat the radiators.

After a short time, the circulation pump supplies the heat exchanger, the remaining cool water from the return pipe of the heating system and the burner turns on again. Then everything is repeated again.

A high-power heating system has an increased diameter of pipes and a volume of radiators, which means less hydraulic resistance. In large systems, water does not flow exactly the same, it flows faster, with a high flow rate (liters per second). During the rapid passage through the boiler heat exchanger, each liter of water only has time to heat up by 15-20 degrees o C... And in order to heat this liter to the specified temperature, the water in the heating system must pass through the heat exchanger several times.

In low-power heating systems, the pipes are thinner, the radiators are smaller, the hydraulic resistance is higher and the water flows more slowly. If you heat slowly flowing water with the same power, then the water that gets into the heat exchanger immediately, at a time, will heat up by 40-60 degrees o C, immediately to the maximum temperature, and the boiler shuts down. And the water remaining in the system, which has not reached the boiler, will remain cold until the next cycle. This is exactly what happens in the boiler if its power is not adapted to the heating system.

The size of the flame (burner power) in the boiler is controlled by the electronics according to a complex algorithm, which takes into account both the time from the start of the burner, and the temperature value, and the rate of temperature change in the heating circuit, and the temperature difference in the direct and return pipes. I do not know all the subtleties of the regulation algorithm, but the automation, without additional service settings, does not ensure the normal operation of the boiler at a power below the minimum, which is indicated in the technical specification.

In a properly configured heating system, the temperature difference in the straight and return pipes should be no more than 20 o C.

Stroke reduces boiler life and increases gas consumption

Anyone, even without being a mechanic and electrician, knows that the most difficult operating mode for equipment is the moment of starting, turning on mechanical and electrical equipment. During the start-up period, the greatest wear is observed, most often failures in work occur. An increase in the number of starts as a result of cyclicity, most of all, eats up the service life of very expensive parts of the boiler - gas and three-way valves, a circulation pump, a fan of exhaust gases.

For ignition at the moment of start-up, the maximum amount of gas is supplied to the burner. Part of the gas, before the appearance of the flame, literally flies into the pipe. Continuous re-ignition of the burner further increases the gas consumption and reduces the boiler efficiency.

Some cyclic operation of the gas boiler is provided for by the normal mode of its operation. For example, room temperature control without a thermostat or with a two-position thermostat occurs by periodically switching on and off the boiler burner.

The task of regulating the power of the boiler is in order to exclude excessive cyclicity - cycling caused by the lack of adaptation of the boiler settings to the heating system.

To eliminate the boiler cycle, it is necessary to equalize the capacities of the boiler and the heating circuit.

This can be done in two ways:

  1. Reduce the boiler burner power to a level at which the automation can ensure the normal operation of the boiler with a connected heating system.
  2. Increase the maximum power of the heating circuit by installing additional radiators or replacing the existing ones with more powerful ones.

You can use both methods at once. Reduce the difference between the output of the boiler and the heating circuit by replacing and installing more powerful radiators. And then, compensate for the remaining difference by adjusting the boiler output.

The second method is more expensive, but sometimes you have to choose it. The fact is that in order to save money, builders often install radiators in the house without a thermal power reserve. As a result, in order to maintain the required temperature in the premises, in frosts it is necessary to supply heating water to the radiators with a maximum temperature, more than 75 o C... At this temperature, the decomposition (combustion) of organic dust particles occurs on the radiators and appears in the rooms bad smell... Besides, heat the coolant reduces the service life of plastic pipes and other parts of the heating system made of plastic and rubber.

Sometimes, the power of the radiators is simply not enough to maintain the required thermal regime even at the maximum temperature. heating water... Before you start adjusting the boiler power, I recommend that you determine the need, and, if necessary, increase the power of the radiators by 30 - 100%, at least in the coldest rooms.

Above - standard temperature regime radiator operation in systems with plastic pipes... Below are the maximum radiator temperatures for comfortable soft warmth. To switch from standard mode to soft heat, the power (size) of the radiator must be increased by about 2 times.

The main advantage low temperature heating is the possibility of using modern technologies... This is about condensing boilers, solar collectors and heat pumps. They require that the system has low temperature heating water.

In case of replacing radiators, it must be borne in mind that the expansion tank built into the boiler is designed for a volume of water in the heating system not exceeding 50 liters for the Gepard boiler, and 70 liters for the Panther. If the amount of water as a result of the installation of new radiators turns out to be more, then an external expansion tank must be installed.

The external expansion vessel is connected to the return line of the heating system closer to the boiler. The built-in expansion tank, in this case, is best taken out of action.

How to adjust the burner power of a gas boiler

The useful heat output of the gas boiler can be reduced by reducing the gas supply to the burner. This is done by changing the settings of the gas valve.

Gas valve Honeywell boiler Protherm Gepard (Panther) - work diagram.
EVS1- safety solenoid valve; EVS2- electric drive of the control valve; Vm- the stepper motor controls the gas flow through the control valve.

In modern boilers "Protherm Gepard" and "Protherm Panther" basic settings Honeywell gas valve change with a stepper motor. The stepper motor is controlled from the boiler control panel through the service menu.

It should be noted that the manufacturer in some versions of gas boilers Protherm Gepard (Panther), Vaillant, instead of a Honeywell gas valve, installs the SIT 845 Sigma gas valve. The settings of the maximum and minimum burner power for this valve are made by turning the adjusting screws located on the valve body. For details on the adjustment of the SIT gas valve, see below, on page 2.

The electromechanical devices of the boiler (solenoid valves, stepper and conventional electric motors, sensors) are controlled by the microprocessor of the electronic control board in accordance with the programmed program. The boiler operating program settings can be changed on the control panel using two menus - a public user menu and a hidden service menu.

Access to the service menu of the Protherm Gepard boiler

The Protherm Gepard boiler is controlled from the control panel through the public user menu. How the owner controls the boiler is described in the operating manual.

On the control panel, you can call up another, hidden menu - service, intended for specialists. The service menu becomes available on the display screen after entering the code.

Press and hold the mode (1) button for about 7 seconds; the display will change - a number will appear 0 ... - Using the buttons + or (2) enter code, number 35 ... - Confirm the code entry by pressing the mode button (1). After that, the display will show the 1st line of the menu in the form of characters alternating on the screen: d. 0.

- Using the buttons + or d. **.

- Press the "mode" button to move from the designation of the menu line number " d. **"To the parameter value (the display alternates between the symbol" = "and the parameter value). - Change the values of the displayed parameters using the + or - buttons (3) on the boiler panel. - 3 seconds after the change, the new values are automatically confirmed. To return the display to its original state, press the "mode" button for 3 seconds. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the display returns to operating mode by itself.

Access to the service menu of the Protherm Panther boiler (Panther)

The control panel of the Protherm Panther boiler has some differences from the Protherm Gepard boiler. The boiler control panel has a hidden service menu, which becomes available when the code is entered.

To access the service menu of the Protherm Panther boiler, you need to: Press and hold the mode (1) button for about 7 seconds; the display will change. - By using buttons on the left + or (2), enter the access code to the service menu - number 35 in the left half of the display. - Confirm the code entry by pressing the mode button (1).

After that, the display will show the 1st line of the menu in the form of symbols d.00 with the menu line number in the left half of the display, and the numerical value of the line parameter - in right half display. - By using buttons on the left + or (2), enter the number with the desired menu bar number: d. **.

To change the value of a parameter in the menu bar:- Change the values of the displayed line parameters using buttons on the right + or (3) on the boiler panel. - 3 seconds after the change, the new values are automatically confirmed. To return the display to its original state, press the "mode" button for 3 seconds. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the display returns to operating mode by itself.

The service menu commands and the procedure for setting the power of the Protherm Panther boiler are similar to those given for the Protherm Gepard boiler.

Description of some commands of the service menu

Line d.00- maximum heating capacity (net power) of the boiler in heating mode, kWh... The range of possible parameter values is from = 9 to = 23, factory setting = 15 (for Protherm Gepard).

Line d.01- run-on time of the circulation pump in heating mode, min., choose a value between 2 and 60 min... Factory setting = 5

Line d.02- Time delay after working in heating mode for anti-cycling, min... Protects against frequent switching on and off of the burner in heating mode (this function is not applicable in DHW mode). Choose a value between 2 and 60 min... Factory setting = 20 minutes. This delay (called the anti-cycling time) prevents a quick restart in heating mode after stopping the burner at the set temperature or at the command of the room thermostat TA. It depends on the setting of the coolant temperature: - at 80 ° C, it is set for 1 minute and is not adjustable. - at 20 ° C, it can be adjusted from 1 to 60 minutes using the parameter d.02 in the service menu. At intermediate temperatures, between 20 ° C and 80 ° C, the delay value changes proportionally in the range from 1 min. before set in d.02 parameter.

Dependence of the anti-cycling time on the setting of the parameter value in the line d.02 and heating temperatures

Line d.18- operating mode of the circulation pump; Operating mode options: = 0 - with burner: the pump works together with the burner. = 1 - continuously; with RT thermostat: the pump is switched on by a command from the room thermostat. = 2 - permanently in winter: the pump runs as long as the boiler is in WINTER mode. Factory setting = 1.

Line d.19- the speed of the circulation pump; Operating mode options: = 0 - the burner is on; speed in heating mode is selected automatically, maximum - in DHW mode, minimum - if the burner is off = 1 - min. speed in heating mode, max. - in DHW mode = 2 - automatically selected in heating mode, max. - in DHW mode = 3 - max. speed in heating and DHW mode. Factory setting = 2... Each time the burner is started in heating mode, the pump is switched on at a limited speed for at least 30 seconds. If the temperature difference between supply and return reaches 20 OK, the pump switches to maximum speed until the burner shuts down (even if the temperature difference has decreased). The same cycle occurs on the next ignition.

Line d.35- shows the position of the 3-way valve, heating / DHW (read only); = 99 - hot water = 0 - heating = 40 - middle position

Line d.36- shows on the display the hot water consumption measured by the flow sensor, l / min... when parsing hot water (read-only)

Line d.40- shows on the display the temperature of the water leaving the boiler, in the direct pipe of the heating system, o C... (only for reading)

Line d.41- shows on the display the temperature of the water at the boiler inlet, in the return pipe of the heating system, o C... (only for reading)

Line d.44 - Ionization current control. This parameter informs that the ionization current is in the optimal range. The displayed value does not represent the actual current value! Range of values: 0 - 10. In the range: = 0 - 4 - ionization current is sufficient - flame is present; = 4 - 8 - ionization current just below a sufficient level - there is a possibility of flame loss; = 8 - 10 - the ionization current does not correspond to a sufficient level - there is no flame.

Line d.52- setting the minimum boiler burner power by shifting the minimum position of the Honeywell gas valve stepper motor. The range of possible parameter values is from = 0 to = 99. The lower the value of the parameter, the weaker the intensity of gas combustion.

Line d.53- setting the maximum boiler burner power by shifting the maximum position of the Honeywell gas valve stepper motor. The range of possible parameter values is from = 0 to = -99 (negative values with a minus sign). The lower the value of the parameter, the weaker the intensity of gas combustion.

Line d.62- lowering the heating temperature at night. Setting range 0 - 30 o C... If you connect a timer or even a manual switch to the boiler, you can switch the boiler into two modes: day or night. In night mode, the heating temperature setting is reduced by the value set in d.62. Those. the temperature of the heating water and the temperature in the house are higher during the day, and lower at night. Can be configured the other way around.

Line d.67 - Display of the time between the switching on of the boiler. This parameter displays the cooling time in minutes before the next boiler is turned on. The minutes countdown starts at the moment of the boiler shutdown due to exceeding the maximum operating temperature of heating water on the boiler control panel and the room regulator is permanently closed. This parameter is important for the counter-cyclic function of the boiler, when the cooling time until the next start-up is calculated on the basis of the set boiler heating water temperature and the set counter-cycling time interval in line d.02.

Line d.70 - Adjusting the position of the three-way valve. In this mode, it is possible to set the position of the three-way valve, regardless of the requirements for heating in a particular circuit. Three-way valve position: = 0 - the valve is controlled based on standard requirements from the control system; = 1 - the three-way valve is set to the middle position for emptying the boiler (both heating and hot water supply); = 2 - the three-way valve is set to the heating air heating position.

Line d.71- Setting the maximum temperature in the heating system. Select a value between = 45 and = 80 ° C. Factory setting = 75 ° C.

Line d.88 - Water hammer protection in wiring cold water(for boilers KTV and KOV). The possibility of changing the parameter leads to the elimination of the reaction to water hammer, which in some cases occurs in cold water pipelines. For example, when the automatic valve closes in cistern toilet (or washing, or dishwasher) a pressure surge (water hammer) may occur in the water supply pipes. This may result in a false operation of the flow sensor (turbine). tap water, which will lead to a short-term unwanted activation of the DHW mode of the boiler. Factory setting = 0 - activation of the ignition process for heating tap water at a flow rate of 1.5 l / min Changing the parameter to value = 1 - activation of the ignition process for heating tap water at a flow rate of 3.7 l / min In this case, the duration of the flow must be at least 2 seconds.

Line d.90 - Identification of the connected room sensor. With this parameter it is possible to make sure that the room regulator is connected correctly, or that the communication between the room regulator and the boiler is working properly. Note: this description only applies to controllers that support eBus communication. In the event that a conventional regulator with a cut-off relay was connected, this function cannot be used. Display: = 0 - the regulator is not connected or does not communicate with the boiler; = 1 - the regulator is connected and there is communication between it and the boiler.

Line d.96- Setting the boiler to the parameters set at the factory. In case the setting leads to incorrect operation or malfunctions, it is possible to restore the factory settings of the boiler. Setting: = 0 - replacement with settings from production will not be performed; = 1 - a return to the factory settings will be made Note: when entering the setting of this parameter, the display always shows the parameter "0"

How to eliminate boiler cycle in heating mode

Adjustment of the maximum heating power of the Gepard or Panther boiler through the service menu

At the first stage in the service menu, as described above, we find the line d.0, press the "mode" button and look at the display the value of the boiler power parameter, kWh... In our example, the factory setting = 15 was visible. It is necessary to set a new value of the boiler output equal to the output of the heating devices connected to the boiler. This setting will only work in heating mode.

If the power of the heating system corresponds to the operating range of the power of the boiler

The maximum power of the heating system in the house may fall within the operating range of the boiler power specified in the instructions. For example, the total maximum power of radiators in a house is 11 kWh... The operating power range of the Protherm Gepard 23 MTV boiler is in the range of 8.5 - 23.3 kWh.

In the service menu, as described above, we find the line d.0, press the "mode" button and look on the display the value of the boiler power parameter, kWh... For example, the factory setting = 15 will be visible. Using the "-" button, set a new value for the boiler power = 11.

I recommend trying to set the boiler power to 20 - 30% less than the heating circuit power, for example, d.00 = 9 kW. This power should be enough to compensate for heat losses at home, since the power of radiators, as a rule, is chosen with a certain margin.

Increasing the anti-cycling time

In the second stage, increase the anti-cycling time in the line d.02 service menu.

Factory setting d.02 = 20 minutes. According to the graph (see above), we determine that for the heating water temperature set on the display 70 o C, the burner can be restarted after 4 - 5 minutes, not earlier.

In line d.02 set a new value for the anti-cycling time, for our example the maximum possible = 60 minutes. Line d.67 displays the time in minutes until the next boiler is turned on. The breaks in the operation of the burner became approximately 10 minutes long. Twice as much as the factory setting, which is still too common.

An increase in the anti-cycling time leads to the fact that the burner is switched on later, at a lower temperature of heating water. The heat input from the boiler to the heating circuit is reduced.

Thus, selecting through the service menu the settings for the boiler power and the anti-cycling time, ensure that the cycle time between boiler burner starts is at least 15 minutes. That is, the boiler should be switched on within one hour no more than four times.

Note that not all brands of gas boilers have the ability to adjust the anti-cycling time. In this case, it is necessary to select only the boiler power settings.

On some brands of gas boilers, the rotation speed (performance) of the circulation pump is set manually by a switch on the pump. It is recommended to increase the pump speed to reduce the boiler stroke.

Setting the Gepard or Panther gas boiler to a power below the minimum

In the third stage setting is in progress minimum boiler power, by an amount lower than indicated in the instructions.

Such adjustment is sometimes necessary not in all cases, but only when the first and second stages do not bring the desired result. As in our case, when at the first stage with the "-" button we set a new value for the boiler power = 9 (the minimum possible setting corresponds to 8.5 kW.). The newly set value of the maximum boiler heating power (8.5 kWh) is still very different from the power of heating devices (4 kWh).

It should be noted that adjusting the boiler power according to the method described below is also useful in other cases, since it allows, through an experiment, to adjust the heating power of the boiler in accordance with the real power of the heating circuit. The real power is usually less than the calculated one.

Before work for setting the minimum burner power, necessary:

  • Fully open the thermostatic and other valves on the radiators and set the room thermostat to the maximum temperature. The thermostat that controls the underfloor heating is set to the maximum permissible temperature so as not to overheat the floors.
  • In the user menu of the boiler, set the maximum operating temperature, which the owners set in the coldest frosts, adding another +5 ° C... Usually it is at least 65 ° C... If the owners do not remember it, or on a new boiler in the menu, they set the factory setting for the maximum temperature 75 ° C... The boiler burner should automatically turn off at a temperature of 5 ° C more, i.e. at 80 ° C.
  • Cool the heating circuit to a heating water temperature below 30 ° C.

Next, start the burner in heating mode, select the line in the service menu d.52, press the "mode" button and see on the display the value of the position parameter of the gas valve stepper motor in the factory mode of minimum power.

Having removed the front cover of the boiler, we visually observe the magnitude of the flame in the burner. In our example, the display showed the factory setting, number = 72, and the flame height in the burner was quite high.

Press the "-" button to set the new value of the parameter in the line d.52, for example = 20. 3 seconds after the change, when the new value is automatically confirmed, a significant decrease in the flame height in the burner is observed. This indicates that the useful power of the boiler with the specified setting will greatly decrease.

Further, the temperature rise in the direct heating pipe at the outlet of the boiler is observed on the display. Usually, the temperature rise stops when it reaches some value less than the set one, for example 52 ° C... The boiler is running and the temperature does not rise (or changes very, very slowly). This means that a power balance has been achieved between the boiler and the heating system at this steady-state water temperature. At this moment, we increase the parameter in line d.52 of the service menu, set a new value = 30 - the temperature starts to rise again and stops again, for example, at 63 ° C... Again, add the parameter value in line d.52 = 35 and so select the parameter until the temperature stops at a value slightly higher than the maximum, for example 77 ° C... In this way, a balance is achieved between the power of the boiler and the heating circuit at the maximum operating temperature. The boiler output will be set to the minimum required for operation with the connected heating circuit. In this case, the cycle of the boiler will be minimal.

If the radiators do not warm up well in height, the temperature difference in the straight and return pipes at the maximum temperature is more than 15-20 °, then the bypass valve actuation pressure is increased. Read below how to adjust the bypass valve. The temperature of the water in the flow and return pipe can be seen on the display if you enter the service menu, lines d.40 and d.41.

If adjusting the bypass valve, the gas valve setting in line d.52 must be repeated.

In our example, the burner heated the water to a maximum temperature of 77 o C with the minimum parameter value in the line d.52 equal to = 28 (factory setting was = 72). With a lower value of the parameter, the burner could not heat the water to the specified temperature. And with a higher value, the burner heated the water to 80 ° C and the boiler automation turned off the combustion.

It should be noted that the above-described method for adjusting the gas valve, which allows, through the experiment, to balance the boiler power with the heating circuit power, is absent in the recommendations of the boiler manufacturer. This is the idea of the author of the article, successfully implemented when setting up autonomous systems heating with gas boilers.

Factory calibration of the gas valve

Gas valve manufactured by Honeywell. 1 - fitting for measuring the gas pressure at the outlet to the burner; 2 - connection for measuring the pressure at the inlet.

The boiler manufacturer prescribes calibrate the minimum power on the gas valve as follows:

In line d.00 of the service menu, set parameter = 9, which limits the boiler output to the minimum level specified in the instructions. Switch the boiler on in heating mode.

A pressure gauge tube is connected to the upper fitting at the outlet of the gas valve. Before connecting, it is necessary to unscrew the locking screw on the fitting by 1-2 turns.

Call string d.52 service menu. And changing with buttons + and string parameter value d.52, set the gas valve outlet to the minimum pressure specified in the boiler operation manual. For example, for the Gepard 23 MTV boiler, the minimum pressure in front of the burner is 1.5 mbar or 15.5 mm water column.

This setting will ensure the operation of the boiler with the minimum power specified by the manufacturer - 8.5 kWh... To the obvious question, what to do if the power of the heating circuit connected to the boiler is less, service instruction the boiler manufacturer does not give an answer.

In our example, after setting and installing in the line d.52 parameter = 28, the measurement of the pressure at the outlet of the gas valve in front of the burner showed a value of 4 mm water column

Readers in the comments ask the question: "Isn't such a significant decrease in gas pressure on the burner dangerous for the boiler?" There are many different protections on boilers, but there is no protection against low pressure gas on the burner. Hence, we conclude that low pressure in itself is not dangerous for the boiler. It is important to ensure stable ignition and steady burning gas, as the boilers have appropriate protections.

A DIYer can roughly estimate whether the gas valve settings match the factory settings without having to measure the gas pressure at the valve.

For this, in line d.00 of the menu set the parameter = 9 and turn on the boiler in the mode of minimum heating power. The readings of the gas meter are recorded. After 15 minutes (1/4 hour), the meter readings are again recorded and the gas flow rate is determined during this time. For example, the gas consumption was determined by the meter 0.289 m 3/15 min... Multiply this value by 4 and get the gas consumption per 1 hour in the minimum power mode 1.156 m 3 / hour... Compare the obtained value with the data of the factory instructions. For example, the standard gas consumption in the minimum power mode for the Cheetah 23 MTV boiler is 1.15 m 3 / hour... The gas consumption according to the meter readings approximately corresponds to the factory standard. We conclude that the setting of the gas valve in the minimum power mode complies with the requirements of the factory instructions. If not, then the gas flow rate is corrected by changing the parameter in line d.52.

Similarly, based on the gas consumption, it is possible to evaluate the setting of the gas valve at maximum power by switching the boiler to DHW mode.

Power 23.3 kW. corresponds to the maximum pressure at the valve outlet 85 mm water column

U-shaped pressure gauge

A simple pressure gauge for measuring on a gas valve can be made from a clear plastic tube by filling it with water and bending it into a U shape. Slide one end of the tube over the valve fitting and leave the other open. The ruler is used to measure the difference in water levels in the branches of the tube. The measured distance will be equal to the pressure in millimeters of water - mm water column.

A tube with an inner diameter of 8 can be tightly pulled onto the gas valve fitting. mm... For a tube of a different diameter, you will have to select an adapter.

After completing the measurements, do not forget to carefully tighten the screw on the measuring point and check its tightness.

Assembly elements, installation and connection of the electric boiler Skat Protherm

Boiler components Skat Protherm

Pump

Manufacturer - Wilo
Power supply - 230V / 50 Hz
Number of speed steps - 2
1st stage, rpm - 2500
2nd stage, rpm - 2600

Before filling and putting the Proterm Skat electric boiler into operation, you must perform the following steps:

Loosen the pump air valve cap.

Loosen and unscrew the rotor shaft cover and use a flat screwdriver to turn the shaft.

If a fairly tangible resistance is felt during the rotation of the shaft, it is necessary to dismantle the motor part of the pump.

Then clean the entire stator or pump rotor from impurities.

Before removing Wilo pump you need to make sure that the following conditions have been met:

The boiler water temperature has reached a safe value (40 ° C).

The boiler was turned off by means of the main switch.

The heating water inlets and outlets were closed.

The remaining water was drained from the boiler.

Dismantling the Wilo pump:

Disconnect the connecting cable connecting the pump to the control board.

Remove the heating water pipe leading from the pump to the heat exchanger.

Disconnect the tube leading to the expansion tank.

Pull out the safety clip.

Loosen and unscrew the pump safety screws located at the bottom of the boiler.

Remove the pump by turning the pump slightly clockwise.

Safety valve

If the maximum permissible pressure in the Proterm Skat boiler is exceeded, excess water will drain through the safety valve. The opening pressure of the valve is 3 bar. The safety valve outlet must be equipped with a suitable drain.

If it is necessary to remove the safety valve, proceed as follows:

Wait for the water to cool down to about 40 ° C.

Disconnect the Skat Protherm boiler from the electrical network.

Close all valves under the boiler plant.

Disconnect the drain tube from the safety valve.

Drain water from the boiler system using the drain valve.

Remove the safety valve retaining clip.

Heating water temperature sensors

Temperature sensors - If replacement is required, remove the sensor together with the retainer and pull out both two connectors.

Emergency thermostat - 100 ° C stops boiler operation - error code F20 (unlock manually). The emergency thermostat for the heating circuit is located at the water outlet of the boiler heat exchanger.

To replace it, unscrew the screws located on the thermostat holder, remove the thermostat together with the holder and disconnect both connectors.

Pressure sensor

The pressure sensor is used to determine the water pressure in the boiler (heating system). In the event of a lack of exhaust air in the boiler, the pressure sensor will transmit information to the control board, which will give a command to stop it.

As the water pressure rises, the volume of the membrane carrying the magnet will increase. Opposite the magnet there is a Gall sensor, which changes the input voltage on the Proterm Skat boiler control board, depending on the change in the parameters of the magnetic field. The change in the parameters of the magnetic field depends on the change in the distance of the Gall sensor in relation to the position of the magnet.

Before removing the pressure sensor, it is necessary to close the heating water supply and then drain the water from the unit using the drain valve. Pull slightly to remove the pressure sensor connector. Use a flat screwdriver to pull out the safety clip on the pressure sensor. Remove the pressure sensor by pulling it towards you.

Dismantling the heating water heat exchanger

Dismantling the heat exchanger:

Remove the front cover, side panels and the top cover of the boiler unit.

Disconnect the heating element wires from the electric boiler control board Protherm Skat and the terminal box and disconnect the grounding conductor.

Disconnect the heating water supply pipe at the bottom of the heat exchanger.

Remove the heating water outlet pipe at the top of the heat exchanger.

Loosen and then remove the bolts located at the top.

Pulling slightly upwards, remove the heat exchanger from the boiler.

Removing heating coils

Dismantling operations:

Remove the front panel of the boiler and its top or bottom cover (depending on which element needs to be replaced).

Disconnect the appropriate heating element wires from the control board and terminal block, and the grounding conductor.

Using a suitable wrench, unscrew the heating element from the heat exchanger housing in a counterclockwise direction.

Expansion tank

The expansion tank serves to equalize the pressure of heating water, the volume of which increases during heating. The expansion tank of the Proterm Skat electric boiler is designed for the maximum amount of water in the heating system - 90 liters (at a temperature of 75 ° C). The expansion tank is located at the rear of the unit.

Before filling the heating system with water, check the pressure in the expansion vessel. The initial pressure in it must be 0.2 bar higher than the static height of the water column in the heating system.

Fill the heating system with water. The filling pressure must be 0.2 - 0.3 bar higher than the water pressure in the expansion vessel. The water pressure when filling the system is checked against the pressure gauge on the water supply side, in a cold state and after removing air from the system.

The valve for filling the expansion tank is located in its upper part. If water flows out of the expansion tank filling valve, this means that its diaphragm is damaged. In this case, the expansion tank must be replaced.

Expansion tank removal work:

Loosen and unscrew the screws located at the top of the boiler frame.

Loosen and remove the nut of the inlet pipe leading to the expansion tank.

Pull upwards and pull out the expansion vessel.

At reverse installation it is necessary to give new gaskets.

Skat Protherm electric boilers do not have their own bypass, therefore it is recommended to install it directly in heating systems.

The boiler connections must not be loaded from the heating pipes. To do this, it is necessary to accurately observe the dimensions of the ends of all connected pipes both in terms of height and in relation to the distances from the wall and the relative position of the individual inputs and outputs in relation to each other.

It is recommended to connect the electric boiler to the heating system in such a way that if it is necessary to repair the boiler, heating water can only be drained from it. During reconstruction, unfavorable planning, etc. the boiler can be connected to the heating system using flexible hoses designed exclusively for this purpose.

Used flexible hoses should be as short as possible, protected from mechanical and chemical influences, as well as from damage. The flexible hoses used must be replaced before the end of their service life or if they lose their ability to perform their functions reliably.
new.

The electric boiler Proterm Skat can be used to heat water entering the underfloor heating system. In this case, an emergency thermostat for underfloor heating systems must be connected to the boiler (not included in the scope of delivery).

Emergency thermostat for regulating water temperature in systems underfloor heating connects to the boiler supply terminal block. Typically, boiler systems are equipped with a factory-installed jumper that closes the terminals for connecting an emergency thermostat for underfloor heating systems. The jumper must be removed before connecting the thermostat.

The heating system, according to the indications of the boiler devices, must be filled with water at least until it reaches a hydraulic pressure of 1 bar (which corresponds to the hydrostatic height of a 10-meter water column).

If a room thermostat is installed in the reference room, it is necessary that no thermostatic valve is installed on at least one of the heating radiators located here.

To increase the thermal comfort in the room where the room thermostat is located, we recommend that you do not install thermostatic heads on heating radiators at all.

Before installing a new Skat Protherm boiler, the heating system must be thoroughly cleaned. It is recommended to install a sump in front of the boiler, namely on the heating water return pipe. The sump must be constructed in such a way that it can be cleaned regularly without
the need to drain a large amount of heating water.

The sump can be combined with a filter, but a sieve filter alone is not sufficient protection. Both the filter and the sump must be checked and cleaned regularly.

Installation work of an electric boiler Proterm Skat:

The mechanical structure of the boiler unit with pump and accessories is hung on the rail.

The cover can be removed and fixed on the back wall with screws.

To install the boiler, it is necessary to choose a place that will allow service operations to be carried out without major obstacles.

In case the boiler is installed in open system, the water level of the heating system must create a pressure of 1 bar.

V heating systems equipped with thermostatic valves, the water circulation can be completely closed, in this case it is necessary to install a bypass pipe, which is not equipped thermostatic valve or use bypass.

When installing the front panel, make sure that the plastic frame sits exactly in place and that a grounding pad is placed under each screw that secures the front panel.

Electrical connection of the boiler Proterm Skat

Electric boilers Skat Protherm are designed for permanent connection to fixed wiring. It is necessary to install a disconnecting device in it - a main switch, the distance between open contacts in which is at least 3 mm for all poles, subject to the instructions for commissioning.

Before installing the boiler, the user is obliged to ensure the laying of separate power wiring, including the main switch of the heating system, fuses, as well as carry out other necessary transformations in the internal wiring.

In the case when it is not possible to connect to a three-phase electrical network, the Proterm Skat boilers of a power range of 6 and 9 kW can also be connected to a single-phase one. To do this, use the connecting bridge supplied with the boiler.

With the help of a connecting bridge, the contacts of the phase wires are interconnected on the terminal block, designed to supply the supply voltage to the unit.

Elements of the boiler control board Skat Protherm:

Connecting heating elements

If there is no possibility of connecting to the gas network, and solid fuel heating is not available, then an electric boiler becomes an alternative way to provide the house with heat. This article will introduce readers to the Proterm Skat electric boilers, as well as provide instructions on how to start them.

Electric boilers Proterm Skat

This single-circuit equipment is made in wall variation. It is possible to connect a water heater. Most models three-phase mains connection required, but models with a capacity of 6 kW and 9 kW can operate from a 220 V network. The selection of the required level of hot water and heating temperature is carried out using a display, which, by adjusting, helps to control the operation of the equipment. It is also controlled by a thermostat or an outside temperature sensor.

To create a certain level of heat, the parameters are adjusted individually. The power supply is controlled remotely from the tariff meter. For domestic needs, units of 24 kW and 28 kW can be installed in a cascade.

Protherm Skat has:

  • two-way pump;
  • expansion tank;
  • safety valve;

Also, the Protherm boiler can be connected via a voltage stabilizer. Electric boiler in action slow start, that is, for two minutes it "accelerates" and its power is minimal. The heating elements are protected from overload, their work is uniform, this is achieved by the ability to adjust the rhythm (1.2 or 2.3 kW).

Electric boilers Protherm Skat are lightweight (only 34 kg) and convenient dimensions, which makes it possible to install on almost any area. The boiler operation is reliably protected by several functions:

  • pump blockage protection;
  • a pressure sensor that monitors the water pressure level;
  • frost protection;
  • protection against blocking the valve and freezing of the water heater (when connecting the boiler).

If errors occur in the operation of the boiler, automatic diagnostics occurs, ending with the display of the results in the form of a code. The decoding of the codes is given in the instruction manual of the product.

Advantages and disadvantages of electric boilers Protherm Skat

Proterm Skat has a number of advantages over other types of heating:

  • does not carry out harmful emissions into the atmosphere, since does not have combustion products, therefore given view heating can be called environmentally friendly;
  • an electric boiler is an affordable type of heating. It is used where it is not possible to connect to the network gas or can become an alternative form of heating;
  • does not need systematic maintenance, unlike, for example, gas or solid fuel models;
  • silent work;
  • there is a heat level regulator;
  • able to adapt to domestic water not of the best quality;
  • resistant to voltage drops;
  • equipped with several types of protection.

Along with the advantages, some disadvantages are noted:

  • the electric boiler Protherm Skat needs to be connected through a stabilizer;
  • unable to do its job when the mains power is cut off.

Consumer reviews

Consumers note that Protherm Skat provided an opportunity where it was problematic or even impossible to connect gas. With stable operation of the power grid, many refuse to connect the gas, while saving considerable amounts of money. In addition, an electric boiler is used in parallel with a gas unit, connecting them to a single heating system. This find allows you to significantly save money on resources, alternating them with each other during the heating season.

If you connect a water heater to Protherm Skat, consumers will be able to use hot water. Many people note the perfectly developed boiler design, which fits well into any room interior. It can be successfully installed in living rooms, thanks to its silent operation, it will not cause increased attention to itself.

The disadvantages are that when using only an electric boiler, when it is turned off, there is no alternative options heating. Therefore, before making a purchase of a Protherm electric boiler, you should make sure that there are no problems with electricity. Experts recommend use a voltage regulator, to ensure the conditions for normal operation of the Protherm Skat boiler.

In addition, the increased energy consumption of an electric boiler causes negative emotions among the population, since paying bills is very expensive. If we compare the costs of gas and electric heating, then the Protherm electric boiler costs a little more, with identical heating parameters. From the above, we can conclude that this electrical equipment is chosen by those who do not have the ability to connect to the network gas, as well as those who care about environment and sees it as a source of ecological consumption.

How to start the Protherm Skat boiler?

To start up the boiler, follow the instructions below.

When the pressure is low, the “bar” light starts flashing on the display. To remedy the situation, add water to the system. If in this case the pressure decreases, then you need to contact a specialist.

If you need to stop the Protherm boiler for a long time, you need to disconnect it from the power supply and turn off the taps. If you need a stop in winter, then water must be drained from the system to prevent freezing.

How to care for a Protherm electric boiler? Do not use abrasive or chemical substances. Better to wipe the surface of the case with a damp cloth, then dry the surface.

Any malfunctions are indicated on the display by an error code. Code numbers are found and decoded in the product passport.

If a serious malfunction occurs, for example, the heat exchanger is frozen or water is dripping from it, it is forbidden to turn on the electric boiler into the power supply. It is necessary to wait for a specialist who will diagnose and perform quality repair... Parts are replaced only with original spare parts.

So, dear readers, you have met with the alternative type of heating Protherm Skat. When the gas and solid fuel out of reach or you are an adherent of cleanliness, an electric boiler can be a good help.
