Manufacturing of a ceiling in a private house. Ceiling in a country house: features of insulation and types

In any private house, the ceiling can be made with your own hands. You can find out how to properly install it from this article. We will try to consider the main subtleties of this process.

Peculiarities

Regardless of the type of floor (wood or concrete), the ceiling is installed according to a single algorithm of actions. When working with concrete, it is recommended to pre-drill holes and install dowels. For wooden floor screws and nails are used. Today, there are three main systems for arranging the ceiling surface in a private house: hemming, flooring and panel. When determining the system, it is necessary to think in advance whether the ceiling surface will be sheathed with finishing materials in the future.

In case of refusal to finish, give preference to wood-based materials such as boards, beams and slats. They are able to emphasize the special color of private houses and are suitable for all types of floors. Any ceiling surface is a multi-layer structure. It includes:

  • rough ceiling;
  • vapor barrier layer;
  • waterproofing layer;
  • insulation materials (they are also noise insulators);
  • clean ceiling.

Special attention should be paid to the height of the ceiling. This is especially true when deciding to install a suspended or plasterboard ceiling. Such designs potentially "eat up" from fifteen to thirty centimeters.

So, if the height of your room is less than two and a half meters, you are strongly advised not to use various ceiling structures. With a decrease in height, the room will become uncomfortable for people in it. The ceiling will seem to press on you.

If you can adjust the height of the ceiling during construction - stop at the standard and reasonable size of two meters and seventy centimeters. it optimal height in terms of the comfortable feeling of the people in the room and the provision of an acceptable level of heat.

As you know, warm and hot air goes upstairs. In order to be comfortable in the room, it is necessary to warm up the air to thirty to thirty-five degrees. In an extremely high room, all warm air will go upstairs, leaving the floor cold. The use of an additional radiator and convector or the presence of a warm floor, which heats up, thanks to water, cable or film structures, will help to solve this problem. A comprehensive solution to the problem with room temperature will provide comfortable conditions for a person.

Materials (edit)

The whole process of work requires care and accuracy, since even small defects such as cracks or uneven joints will require tedious work on mistakes. Pay attention to the purchased materials. They must be moisture and fire resistant. As for the density of insulation materials, they must correspond to the temperature regime of your city or town. It is necessary to take into account the quality of thermal insulation materials and the specifics of their installation to beamed floor systems. In advance, before starting work, it is recommended to prepare all necessary tools and building materials:

  • hacksaw for wood and metal;
  • hammer;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • construction knives;
  • wooden boards and bars;
  • nails;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • insulation material (expanded foam and mineral wool).

In the process of covering the ceiling surface in log house do not press the plasterboard sheets too tightly against the insulation material. It may turn out that it will release all the air volume that it needs to perform the function of keeping heat inside the material. For the process of constructing a ceiling, there is a universal algorithm of actions, adhering to which you will achieve a positive result:

  1. First you need to build a frame. Based on your budget and preferences, choose a metal profile or wood beams. They will allow in the future to do ceiling cladding, for example, you can use drywall.
  2. Given the size of the cells obtained after construction frame structure, insulation is cut out. It is nested in each cell and fixed with thin wooden planks at close intervals.
  3. Insulation material in log house covered with plasterboard sheets and fixed.
  4. Further finishing work is carried out.

It is worth noting that the easiest way is to knock out the ceiling covering with plastic. In a house made of aerated concrete or in a chopped one, you can close the ceiling with glued fiberboard.

Design

When doing interior design in a house, we often forget about the ceiling, preferring to leave it as a white flat surface. Nevertheless, the unconventional design of the ceiling can make the room unique, inimitable and create a certain atmosphere. Ceiling decoration, or rather, its choice, depends on several important factors:

  • available space;
  • style and wall decor;
  • general style of the house.

In any case, there are a huge number of variations on the theme of color shades and finishing materials. For example, giving the ceiling the outline of a vault or arch, you visually make the room more spacious and free. Sloped ceilings will add a touch of compactness and modernity to the room. It is worth mentioning that given view the ceiling is extremely popular among European designers.

Coffered ceiling- another interesting variation on the theme of floor finishing. This design implies beams that intersect with each other in such a way that a large number of square cells (sometimes rectangular or triangular) appear on the ceiling surface. There is a beautifully decorated space inside each cell. This finish creates an atmosphere of height and airiness in the room, and also gives it the charm of old English castles.

If you are looking for a more spacious and fashionable living space, then your choice should be plasterboard construction and the "inverted or recessed tray" technique... Such a ceiling structure will look very good in rooms with a high ceiling, but also indoors. standard size it will look no worse.

Which is better?

Exists different ways close the ceiling in the new cottage country house, on the veranda, second floor, stairs, etc. After the main construction works with the ceiling (noise and thermal insulation) are finished, you can start finishing, which will complete appearance overlap. But the question arises of choosing the appropriate option. Consider what types of ceiling are, as well as their disadvantages and advantages.

Stretch ceiling

The use of this option in private houses is one of the most preferred by owners. And this should not be surprising, because the stretch fabric is a very democratic material in terms of cost and does not require much effort for installation. Despite this, designers are happy to work with this material because of the huge possibilities for the implementation of their ideas. With the help of a stretch ceiling, you can build multi-level structures, and choose all kinds of shades from colors... In addition, the fabric has hermetic properties, which will allow you not to worry about the condition of the material in the event of a leak. This is a very important and fundamental property for private houses, especially in rooms where the ceiling is adjacent to the base of the roof.

It is worth mentioning separately that the stretch fabric has high sound insulation rates, due to the fact that the material is completely sealed. The ceiling does not require careful maintenance; systematic wiping of the surface with the help of detergent no abrasive particles.

Well, and most importantly: the use of a stretch canvas will allow you to hide electrical wiring, pipes and all kinds of communications. The only drawback of such a ceiling is the low strength indicator. But in the case of a ceiling, this is not particularly relevant. Unlike the floor, the ceiling surface does not face such a high mechanical stress.

Plasterboard construction

Another common type of finish is plasterboard ceiling. This is an environmentally friendly material; it contains no substances hazardous to the human body. Nevertheless, drywall copes extremely poorly with high humidity, he literally absorbs it. Therefore, if you are convinced that the room is prone to increased moisture release, you should abandon the drywall construction.

The possibility of constructing from material of any shape (arch, hanging parts, additional levels) makes it so in demand. It is permissible to combine plasterboard and stretch ceilings. Drywall will also do an excellent job of masking communications and wiring. You will certainly be pleased with the low cost of the material. This will save you a lot. Let's move on to the unpleasant sides of drywall. In addition to actively absorbing moisture, the material is very fragile. In this connection, increased care is required when installing it, otherwise the drywall may crack.

In addition, this type of finish is not suitable for low-height rooms. Installation of plasterboard construction on average takes from fifteen centimeters and above. But with high ceilings this option would be a great choice.

Wooden ceiling

The most expensive option is wood trim. But, despite the significant costs and lengthy, sometimes tedious, installation, such a ceiling has almost no drawbacks in the process of use. To begin with, it is worth noting its high aesthetic properties. The ceiling is elegant and fits perfectly into any interior. Even modern style hi-tech is perfectly combined with wooden ceiling details.

Today, a wooden ceiling is extremely easy to maintain its original appearance and perfectly retains its specifications... The material is pre-treated against pests, corrosion and the harmful effects of water. In addition, the wooden ceiling can no longer be called a boring, uniform design option. Manufacturers provide a wide range of wood processing methods, allowing you to choose almost any shade.

Wood has high strength indicators, it is extremely difficult to damage it. If you settled on a wooden ceiling finish, think about the previously mentioned coffered version.

Solid wood tiles look extremely elegant and will attract the attention of all your guests. The wooden ceiling is successfully combined with a huge number of interior items and decor. An arch with carved elements or stucco molding in this case will look appropriate.

Remember that decorating a ceiling with wood is an extremely time consuming and tedious process. It is recommended to seek the help of specialists. Tackling this on your own, not owning the intricacies of working with wood, it becomes possible to spoil the expensive building material.

Plaster

Was once the most popular and in a simple way ceiling surface finishes. But after many years, it is used less and less. Of the advantages, it can be noted affordable price and ease of decoration. Often, this type is resorted to in case of further staining or bleaching. To do this, you will need to prime the ceiling surface with a primer, and then paint it with a special solution. Further, depending on the purpose, the ceiling is painted or whitewashed.

Despite the fact that the algorithm of actions is extremely simple, plastering has a number of disadvantages. This process is quite tedious, you will have to spend a lot of time, moreover, it causes a large amount of construction dirt. This method is suitable for rooms with a perfectly flat ceiling. Another important disadvantage is the lack of space to hide communications and wiring.

A surface that is cracked or uneven will take a lot of time and effort to achieve the desired result.

Lighting

In order to give the ceiling originality, mount point LED lights into the ceiling space. They will add elegance and chic to the interior. The combination of LED lamps in a certain pattern (or, conversely, in a chaotic manner) will give the room a feeling of being filled with sunlight. A large number of reasonably positioned lighting fixtures across the entire ceiling surface can:

  • illuminate the entire room in a harmonious and unobtrusive way;
  • to give the environment coziness and to make you relax;
  • create the effect of natural daylight.

In addition to high aesthetic characteristics, such a choice of lighting sources will allow you to significantly reduce your monthly electricity costs, because LED lamps are one of the most economical devices.

When building a country estate, its future owners need to decide how to make a ceiling in a private house so that it is both warm and attractive. There are several options for solving the problem, but most often developers choose either cold attic, or a residential attic.

As an example, the article will consider the device of the ceiling in a private house with gable roof when beams with dimensions of 100x100 millimeters are placed on top of the walls - 200x200 millimeters. Height attic space allows you to use it as an attic, which can be used as a living room or a cold utility room. It is only important to understand how to hem the ceiling with a board correctly.

It must be done depending on how you plan to use the free space under the roof:

  • for a residential attic room - a decent ceiling and soundproofing, warm flooring (read: "");
  • for a cold room - the most important point is good thermal insulation.

When installing a ceiling in a house, you need to remember that warm air always tends upward and most of it leaves the building precisely through the roof, therefore quality is so important, you cannot save on this.

Ceiling arrangement when the attic is residential

It should not be forgotten that:

  • at least 2 nails are required to fasten each board;
  • the fasteners are driven into the spacer so that the angle with respect to the vertical of the edge of the board is 45 degrees. Due to the fact that the nail stitches the boards together, it does not allow the seam to disperse when the wood dries.

Step two - floor insulation ... For this:

  • a vapor barrier layer is placed in the gap between the beams on the rough ceiling. Glassine is used to create it, but plastic, the most common film, is also suitable. It is necessary, since the soundproofing material should not fall into the cracks between the boards and not absorb moisture;
  • to provide sound insulation, mineral wool of 100 mm thickness is used. In practice, a mixture of sawdust and lime or dry sand is often used as well. The size of the soundproofing layer should be about ¾ of the beam height;
  • waterproofing the ceiling in a private house in this case is not required, but when using mineral wool, its layer will not give fine fibers insulating material get into the air.

Step three - creation floor covering .

This stage assumes:

  • laying logs and laying flooring. It is advisable to use boards with a thickness of 30-40 millimeters. OSB or plywood is also used, laid in one thick layer or in two, but overlapping the seams with a thinner sheet;
  • then they reinforce the exit point to the attic with a bar, the thickness of which should be similar to this parameter for the beams. In the case when the attic is temporarily not used, the exit to it is covered with a shield in order to reduce heat loss.

Ceiling arrangement when the attic is cold

When the building is one-story, and only the roof is on top, the device of the ceiling in a private house is as follows.

Step one - filing the ceiling ... This requires a board made of boards. The material for it is ordinary edged or grooved boards with a thickness of 25 millimeters. They are fastened "in space" with long nails, leaving minimal gaps. The grooved boards are hemmed with a groove from the wall from which the installation starts.

When deciding what to make a ceiling in a private house, you can opt for filing it in another way - plywood or OSB, at least 15 millimeters thick (read: ""). But it should be borne in mind that in terms of one "square", this option turns out to be much more expensive and the possibility of the structure sagging under its own weight and the weight of the insulation increases.

Alternatively, in old private houses, the board made of boards can be placed not below the beams, but laid on top of them. This will not reduce the height of the rooms and the living space will not decrease. If necessary, you can make a crate. You should not worry about the appearance of the rough floor, since the finishing of the ceiling in a private house will cover the surface, and the beams painted in desired color, will decorate the interior of the room.

Step two - vapor barrier of the floor ... First of all, you should take care of the vapor barrier. On the one hand, this layer should not allow moisture thermal insulation material, and on the other hand, to reduce heat loss due to radiation. This can be achieved with aluminum foil. Also, foil insulation based on foamed polyethylene is used as a vapor barrier - this relatively recently appeared creates an obstacle to heat loss, thanks to both radiation and convection. When a chimney is laid in the ceiling, there must be a distance of at least 30 centimeters between the chimney and the combustible material.

The most popular among them are:

Fine finishing of the ceiling

The device of the ceiling in a private house is completed, when the attic is not planned to be used, with a fine finish. Which option is best to use depends on the height of the premises. When finishing the ceiling in country house with a ceiling height of 2.7 meters or more, you can do it along the crate on a board made of boards, and if it is located above the beams, then directly on them.

In the event that the ceilings are low, the boards are laid, as previously mentioned, on top of the floor beams, and the final ceiling is placed between them from below. In this situation, it is possible not to make the crate, since it is successfully attached to the tree different material and it does not need to be positioned horizontally. Beams perfectly make minor irregularities invisible (read also: "What to make a ceiling in a house").

You should not use a wide baguette; a narrow L-shaped profile is used for edging PVC products. At the same time, experts advise to fix the panels perpendicular to the beams, and then there will be less waste of finishing material. Exists different types finishing the ceilings in the house, but the best choice will become glossy white panels with a hidden seam. When buying this finishing material, you should give preference to products with the maximum width. When the ceiling is hemmed between the beams, then they are painted in dark colors.

Decorating ceilings with decorative beams is possible not only in private houses, but also in apartments. Installation of lamps is practiced as an additional element when creating an interior. They are styled antique and hung directly from the ceiling beams, but provided that the height of the room allows it to be done.

It is used in a country house and ceiling whitewash using chalk or lime.

Also in private households, ceiling surfaces are painted - today a large number of various paints are presented in the retail network for decorating rooms. Often used in cottages and wallpapering ceilings, glass-fiber wallpaper has proven itself well.

Overlapping in a building means structures that separate rooms from each other in height and form floors, a basement and an attic. Depending on the type of building, the function performed and the operating conditions, they are constructed from various materials and according to different schemes.

Overlapping in the house: classification

By their purpose, structures are divided into three types.

Interfloor - separating one residential floor from another. The attic is also included in this category, since this room is thermally insulated, which means that the temperature difference between the lower room and the attic will be small.

Basements are constructed between a cold basement and a residential floor.

Attic - dividing the residential floor and the cold attic.

In the last two cases, when erecting a floor, insulation will be needed, since temperature regime residential heated and non-residential premises will be very different.

According to the method of execution, two types of structures are divided.

Beam - is a structure of load-bearing beams that take on the main load and filling. This option is much more often used in private houses, since its installation can be done by hand without the use of heavy construction equipment.

Beamless - made of flooring slabs, for example, and does not include beams. This method is more typical for multi-storey panel buildings.

Beam floor

For its construction, two types of beams are used.

Wooden - they are used much more often in the construction of private houses, since they have a relatively low weight and are equally successfully used to form ceilings in both wooden and frame structures.

Metal - more durable and designed for a higher load.

Both types of supports have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Weight - wooden beams much easier, installation with appropriate experience can be done by hand. The metal supports are much heavier, which consequently increases installation costs.

Durability - with proper processing of the material, the structure will last a long time in both the first and second cases. However, metal is more durable.

Resistance to moisture - it is recommended to use a larch or pine timber, since this wood is water resistant and is not very susceptible to decay, which does not exclude the mandatory treatment with antiseptic compounds. The same applies to metal products - to increase the corrosion resistance, the beams are painted.

Heat and sound insulation is certainly much higher for wood. Metal not only does not store heat, but can play the role of a cold bridge in case of poor insulation.

Fire resistance is certainly much higher for metal alloys. Wood, no matter how processed, does not belong to non-combustible materials.

Restrictions - wooden beams can be used with the width of the interfloor overlap - up to 5 m and the attic - up to 6 m. There are no metal restrictions.

Decorativeness - ceiling beams made of wood can serve as a decorative element, designers often use this technique: they fill the space between the beams with MDF boards or drywall, leaving the timber in plain sight. Metallic elements must be hidden.

Ceiling structure in a private house

Most often, when they talk about overlapping with their own hands, they mean the construction of the ceiling of the first and only floor, above which the attic is located, as a rule, unheated. Its structure, as well as the sequence of actions during construction, practically does not depend on the type of building - frame, brick or log. It is recommended to use as a material wooden beam, since it is much lighter, but at the same time provides strength and reliability that is quite sufficient for a one-story private house.

The basis of the ceiling is a beam system made of timber - the parameters of the latter are determined by the dimensions of the span to be covered. Calculations should be made according to tables. Then, cranial bars are attached to the beams on self-tapping screws, and a rough ceiling made of boards is laid on top. It is advisable to use the same wood. If the beams remain visible and also perform an aesthetic function, it is recommended to treat them with varnish.

Vapor barrier - heated air, rising to the ceiling, cools on the surface, which contributes to the formation of condensate. In order to protect the ceiling from moisture, it is waterproofed, that is, covered with a layer of vapor barrier material - polyethylene, for example.

Insulation is an absolutely necessary action, since it is through the attic and the roof that most of heat. Thermal insulation can be done in different ways.

In a residential area - in this case, the heat insulator is located between the beams on the waterproofing layer. Most often, polystyrene or polystyrene foam is used, since this material, with good insulation indicators, is very convenient to use: plates in a spacer are installed between the beams and do not even need fastening. At the same time, the foams are very light, low-combustible, resistant to the action of fungi and mold. Mineral fiber in rolls is also often used. With similar characteristics, mineral fiber is completely fireproof, but it tolerates moisture worse. It is somewhat more difficult to mount it, since the material has a loose structure.

If the above method is used, then the heat insulator from above, to the flooring of the final ceiling, is covered with another layer of waterproofing.

Insulation in the attic - in this case, the heat insulator is placed "on the other side", that is, on the floor of the attic. As a rule, bulk is used - expanded clay, slag, clay with sawdust, and so on, but mineral fiber is also used. From above, the heat insulator is covered with a layer of waterproofing material, and then floors of plywood, OSB or boards are laid on the logs.

Ceiling filing - in principle, for filing, you can use any material, the level of vapor permeability of which is more or less close to that of a tree - otherwise, it is impossible to prevent the situation with the fallout and accumulation of condensation. However, there are some aesthetic requirements that you want to meet.

Wooden lining - the best option, whose technical and aesthetic characteristics are perfectly matched to the log structure. For decoration, it is advisable to choose the same type of wood as for the walls.
Drywall - most often, slabs painted in light colors are placed between the beams, forming a design in the style of a chalet, hunting lodge, Provence, and so on. This option is very preferable for small rooms, as it visually expands the space and raises the ceiling. It is not necessary to paste over drywall with wallpaper - this is an option for a brick building.

Plastic lining - glossy, light colors and seamless is allowed if used in exactly the same way. The seam plastic lining, especially in the vicinity of the log walls, looks extremely ridiculous.
For the same reasons, it is recommended to abandon foam boards - the material does not at all correspond to the aesthetics of a structure made of wood.

Tensile structure - more suitable for brick or frame house with appropriate wall decoration.

Separately, it is necessary to decide on the materials that will be used in the process of work - the technology and the sequence of repair processes largely depend on them.

This issue is especially relevant for ceiling decoration - a large number different options makes it difficult to answer the question of which ceilings are best done in a private house. Let's try to figure it out?

There are several options for finishing the ceiling:

  • Tension cloth
  • Plasterboard blocks
  • Ceiling using wood blocks or beams
  • Plaster
  • Cassette ceilings
  • Wallpapering

Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons of each option.

Tension cloth

Use in the construction of a private house is one of the most common options. No wonder. The stretch web is very easy to install and is relatively inexpensive.

However, designers love them for a different quality: huge variability. You can design a stretch ceiling of any color and with any number of levels. This allows you to apply the most daring design solutions and use various options decoration of rooms.

In addition, the tensioning web is completely sealed, which eliminates leakage. This is especially true in that part of a private house where the ceilings are adjacent to the roof - even if the roof leaks, the interior of the room will not suffer.

They also differ in increased noise insulation due to their tightness. In addition, caring for them is not particularly difficult: it is enough to pick up a non-abrasive product and occasionally wipe the surface with it.

And the main thing. The use of a stretch ceiling allows you to reliably hide communications and pipes - this is especially important in a private house.

As for the shortcomings, it was also not without them. Such ceilings do not differ in high strength, so certain care must be taken in their operation. However, the ceiling is not the floor, which means there should not be frequent physical contact with it.

Another problem is joints. No matter how neatly it is laid, there is a possibility that they will be noticeable. You can disguise the joints using design elements or make them themselves such - for example, when using stretch canvases contrasting color.

In addition, without the appropriate skills, it will be quite difficult to install a stretch ceiling with your own hands.

In general stretch ceiling- the best option for use in the construction of a private house: hygienic, easy to install and relatively inexpensive.

Drywall (gypsum plasterboard)

The direct competitor of the previous version in terms of popularity is.

One of their main advantages is complete environmental friendliness. Drywall does not contain harmful impurities, and therefore it can be safely used even for decorating the ceiling in children's rooms.

However, the material does not tolerate moisture well, absorbing it inside and becoming heavier. Therefore, if you are not sure about moisture insulation wooden house or choose a ceiling in the bathroom - it is better to refuse this idea.

The variety of plasterboard structures allows them to be used in almost any interior style. Tiered or single-level ceilings, arches and hanging elements ... The use of drywall definitely leaves a lot of room for imagination.

Note: Even more varied design solutions can be found using a combination of drywall with a stretch canvas.

In addition, such a ceiling well covers all the imperfections of the floors, helps to hide communications. If you need to hide a large pipe or shield, design a drywall box - it will look like an organic part of the interior, while reliably removing an unnecessary element from your eyes.

The cost is also pleasing - gypsum plasterboards are considered one of the most inexpensive materials. This allows you to cover the ceiling of the entire house without particularly high costs.

However, it was not without its drawbacks. In addition to the already mentioned tendency to absorb moisture, drywall is fragile. This requires the utmost care when installing such a ceiling.

It is not suitable for rooms with low ceilings - installing gypsum plasterboards can take away about fifteen centimeters of the room's height at one level, and much more with multi-level ceilings.

But if space permits, this may be ideal for you.

Features of wooden ceilings

The most expensive material for finishing ceilings is considered to be wood. High cost, complexity of installation, the need to carefully check each element of the ceiling structure ... Should it be associated with installation in a private house?

Definitely yes! Despite the high cost of elements and long installation, such ceilings have practically no drawbacks during operation.

First of all, it is necessary to note their impeccable appearance. Elegant wooden ceilings blend in with any design. Even a high-tech interior can be combined with wood ceiling elements with a little imagination and artistic taste.

For classically decorated rooms better option hard to desire.

In addition, now wood has ceased to be a monotonous material: a large number of processing methods allow you to choose the shade that is right for you.

The material is also distinguished by its high strength - they can be damaged, in fact, only with deliberation.

Separately, I would like to note the coffered ceilings: Solid wood slabs look very elegant and will surely impress both the owners of the private house and the guests. Renaissance-fashionable ceilings are now gradually becoming one of the most popular design techniques - why not use it?

Combine wooden ceilings and with a lot of decorative elements. You can easily add elegant arches, carvings and even stucco - whatever is on modern materials may look clumsy, it will be appropriate here if you know when to stop.

Another advantage wooden ceilings- cassette stacking method. Thus, the imperfections of floors, wires and communications are easily hidden.

However, do not forget that installing a wooden ceiling is a complex process that must be entrusted to professionals. You are unlikely to be able to do the installation yourself, you risk simply ruining the expensive material.

Using plaster

Plastering is a previously popular method that is gradually becoming less and less used. Of its advantages, one can single out, perhaps, low cost, variability of subsequent finishing and the ability to carry out work on their own.

Most often, the surface is plastered before painting or whitewashing. To do this, it is necessary to prime the ceiling partition and then cover it with a special mixture. Then you can apply a fine finish - paint or whitewash.

Despite the fact that the process looks simple enough, there are many more flaws in it than it might seem at first glance. First of all, ceiling plastering works are characterized by a large amount of dirt and take a long time. Consider whether the cost savings are worth the effort?

In addition, the plaster adheres well to flat ceiling... In order to cover up cracks and irregularities, you will have to spend a lot of effort. Again, this type of ceiling decoration does not hide communications, for which special boxes will have to be mounted.

It is not always possible to successfully fit them into the interior, which noticeably spoils the appearance of the rooms and kills any, even the most beautiful design.

Even if you have chosen a high-quality plaster mix, it is unlikely that you will then be able to do without finishing paint or whitewashing - this is additional time, effort and costs.

Note: Plaster imposes restrictions on the choice of lighting devices - for example, recessed lamps will ... there is simply nowhere to build in!

Therefore, if you have the opportunity to use another option, we recommend that you do it!

Using cassette ceilings

Not the most popular option in Russia, but one that deserves attention is cassette ceilings on thin metal plates. If you imagined a faceless iron ceiling- you are not right!

Modern cassette designs are distinguished by a variety of designs, colors and shapes. You can easily select cassettes for any interior and you can create a truly original ceiling.

Such ceiling systems are easy to install - even a person with no experience can install them in a short time.

Another plus is high hygiene. The specially processed metal does not collect bacteria even in rooms with high humidity, which means that such ceilings can be used in the bathroom and in the kitchen.

Caring for them is also simple - it is enough to occasionally wipe the ceiling with special products.

Features of the installation process allow you to easily mount any lighting fixtures - from large chandeliers to built-in spotlights.

Of the minuses, one can single out the lack of insulation and a rather high cost, however, in general, the option deserves consideration for use in private houses.

Of course, in the review we could not list all the available types of ceiling decoration in private houses: wallpapering,.

The main thing to be guided by when choosing a ceiling for a private house is the features of the room, its configuration, floor materials and your own preferences.

Building a house or renovating it is always very pleasant and costly. From the very beginning of the process, we begin to wait for the long-awaited moment of completion. And in this interval, hour after hour, we are surprised at unexpected costs. If you want to save a little or just make a ceiling in a private house with your own hands, our article will become your semblance for translating what you want into reality.

Step 1 - Preparatory work

Let's get straight to the point. It would be more expedient not to analyze special cases, but to describe the construction of a ceiling with a cold attic and the design of a ceiling with an attic suitable for living.

It should be taken into account that the ceiling covering should not only be visually attractive, but also warm and soundproof. In order for all the conditions to be met, you need to work according to the following scheme:

  • If over the walls there are beams 10 or 20 cm thick - in the presence of a cold ceiling, the first step is to provide thermal insulation;
  • If there is a gable roof on top, which can act as an attic, we make a ceiling that provides sound insulation.

Advice: undoubtedly, warm air rises to the top, which is why more heat in a private house is wasted. Therefore, you should not save on insulation of a house with an attic.

For houses with an attic, it is recommended that the ceiling be sewn. The simplest option is to do the work with a 2.5-3 cm edged board. Such material does not require lathing, because boards do not sag. However, there are several pitfalls to consider in this technique:

  • it is necessary to fasten each board with at least 2 nails along the edges;
  • nails should be driven in at an angle (approximately 45 degrees) for structural reliability.

Step 2 - Soundproofing of ceilings in a private house

In order for the soundproofing of the ceiling of a private house to be successful, it is necessary to choose the right materials and skillfully mount them. How to do it correctly, read below:

  • Any ceiling of a private house is decorated with beams. Place a vapor barrier layer in the space between the frame and the structure. Any film or parchment can be used as this material. Aluminum foil is often used, but it is more expensive.
  • Then we provide the sound insulation itself with the help of mineral wool, the layer should be at least 10 cm, or a mound of sand and sawdust, which is supplied with lime. You can buy this mixture ready-made or make it yourself. If you do it yourself, do not forget the strict rule: all bulk materials should be excluded dry. Otherwise, one drop of moisture can ruin the entire ceiling.
  • It is better not to get crowded and, if you used cotton wool, cover it with another layer of film so that its small fibers do not "float" in the air.
  • And the final stage is laying out the log and flooring. As a finishing material, it is better to use a 30-40 cm board or plywood sheets. To enhance the effect, we make 2 layers of flooring.

Tip: If you forgot or simply did not know that the sound-insulating material must be vaporized, and you missed this moment, make holes along the entire perimeter of the floor.

They should be small, 5-7 mm in diameter. Of course, it is better to distribute them in places invisible to the eyes. It is this little thing that will keep your floors in the event of moisture getting under the top layer.

Consider the option of creating the ceiling of a one-story private house, which is called a "cold attic" and has only a roof on top.

Definitely - to hem! That is, hemmed with a construction of boards. The fastening of which must be provided with nails in a spacer with extremely small gaps. The grooved board is fastened from the wall using the puzzle method. As a material, we choose a board with a thickness of at least 2.5 cm.Plywood sheets starting from 1.5 cm are also suitable.

There are several details that cannot be ignored:

  • this method is more financially costly,
  • the ceiling may sag over time due to its own gravity in combination with insulation,
  • if you add an intermediate lattice, the strength will be reduced.

However, there is an excellent replacement for this method. Often, the average country houses do not shine with high ceilings. (It is hardly worth talking about DIY repairs in expensive cottages). If you hem the ceiling in a rough version from the bottom of the beams, it will eat up the space.

If the filing is done not under the board, consisting of boards, but put on the beams, the space will not be touched.

Only in this case you will have to use the crate. And if you do not attach importance to the interior design of the house, these beams can be painted in any bright color, making it the main one, and complete the work on the ceiling in this way.

Step 3 - Vapor barrier of the ceiling of a private house

It would seem that it is a difficult process to make the ceiling of a private house with your own hands. It's hard to find out how! If we figured out the sound insulation, we turn to the vapor barrier.

The requirements that professionals place on a vapor barrier for a cold attic are different from the previously described option. In this case, this layer should "set up a kind of fence" for moisture and, at the same time, reduce to a minimum heat loss using the radiation mechanism.

For clarity, let's take a closer look:

  • We put aluminum foil above or under the layer of thermal insulation, you can do it twice. She's working on. Infrared radiation.
  • Foil layers can be replaced with various insulation materials that contain polyethylene. These materials will create an enclosure against heat loss through radiation and convection.

It is important to consider: if a chimney adjoins or even passes through the ceiling, the element chimney must be protected with flammable materials by at least 3 cm.

Step 4 - Ceiling insulation

The modern market for materials for insulation is replete with items from the cheapest to the most financially costly. It is easy and simple for a layperson to get lost in their properties and names.

To avoid such awkward situations, consider the most popular and most effective ones:

Mineral wool

It is fireproof and has thermal insulating qualities that can decrease over time. This is due to a decrease in size and accumulation of moisture. As a result, such phenomena lead to disturbances in the obstruction of heat loss.

Since fine fibers of this material can get into the air, it must be insulated as much as possible under layers of other materials. Although this is not a pleasant phenomenon, mineral wool is absolutely environmentally friendly.

As for the price - a budget option, one of the cheapest. But with all this, it requires a scrupulous attitude towards itself: it is forbidden to crush it. Mineral wool high density - less effect with heat retention and vice versa.

Basalt wool

This option could be indicated as a subspecies of the mineral and not separated into a separate category. However, it is worth noting that this sample will not lose shape or decrease in volume over time. What is important in ceiling insulation. It accumulates moisture in the same way as a “colleague” of cotton wool.

Expanded clay

This material is also fireproof. Refers to the type - large-fraction. Conveys warmth perfectly through a convention process. It is recommended to lay it by 2/3 cm. It differs from other heaters in a significant specific gravity.

This suggests that it is necessary to firmly fasten the boards of the structure, otherwise the ceiling can sag and spoil the atmosphere in the house. However, the use of this material is more economical than other analogues.

Styrofoam

This material provides 98% thermal insulation, does not deform over time, and is easily attached, even for a non-specialist.

The foam is moisture-proof, which makes it possible to exclude a vapor barrier in its presence. Although this judgment is controversial: it is necessary to determine the humidity of the room. If the humidity does not exceed the permissible values, it makes no sense to additionally use vapor barrier materials.

If the rate is too high, it is better to insure yourself and your property. In terms of cost, this is a more expensive option.

Step 5 - Ceiling waterproofing

In order to perform high-quality and reliable waterproofing of the ceiling, it is necessary to place a waterproofing material with a final layer. It can be a special version or a regular polyester film. It is laid out tightly with capes at the seams and is fastened with tape.

After carrying out all the previously described works, the time comes to the very installation of the "clean" ceiling. The height of the ceiling of a private house plays an important role here:

  • if the ceiling is higher than 2.7 m. - we carry out the crate either on the shield or your beams;
  • with low ceilings, we attach boards to the beams that do not require lathing.

Making a low ceiling with your own hands in a private house is an interesting job that will enrich your stock of knowledge and skills.

In this article, we examined the most popular methods for making a ceiling in a private house with our own hands. We hope that this short consultation will help you complete the installation of the structure efficiently and as quickly as possible in order to quickly enjoy your new or renovated home.
