The picture shows the frames "A" and "B" and the backrest tilt adjuster "B".

Assembling the frames. We fasten the slats to each other with groove joints on wood glue, the joints must be strong and not stagger.

On frame "B" we cut out grooves for adjusting the inclination of the back of the chaise longue.

We drill holes for fasteners, the diameter of holes for bolts is 8 mm.

We connect frames "A" and "B" with screws through the holes, then we connect frame B.

Putting the frame together.

We try on the fabric, stretch it, wrap it on the crossbars and sew it by hand or with a sewing machine.

Main advantages

In their functional purpose, chaise lounges are the same chairs, but more stable and with a low seat. In them, you can rest in a semi-recumbent position, which allows the spine and all muscle groups to relax as much as possible.

The indisputable advantage of chaise lounges is their comfortable shape. The garden chair can be folded so that you can sit or lie on it depending on your personal preference.

Traditionally, sun loungers for summer cottages are made of wood, because since ancient times it has been considered the most environmentally friendly, economical and easy-to-use material.

Sun loungers are ideal for observing nature, as they are lightweight and very comfortable. Therefore, it is not surprising that many owners install them in their garden or in the country. Such furniture can stand outside during the whole summer, and for the winter period it can be removed to some suitable room, for example, a storage room.

Most often, garden loungers are made from materials such as:

  • wood;
  • plastic;
  • rattan.

If you have no desire to spend time and energy on self-assembly garden lounger, you can always order it in the furniture showroom.

Types of structures

If you finally decided to start making a sun lounger for yourself, then at first it will not hurt you to get acquainted with the main types of sun loungers for a summer residence. There are quite a few of them, so only the most popular ones will be considered below:

These are just some of the sun loungers that can be purchased for a summer cottage. If you wish, you can make your own chaise lounge in the form of a swing, as well as using ordinary tree branches as a material. It all depends on your preference.

Making a wooden deck chair

First, you need to prepare a certain set of materials and tools that you will need to make a homemade sun lounger:

  • self-tapping screws;
  • jigsaw and screwdriver;
  • boards for sheathing the frame 2.5 cm wide;
  • timber 40x40 mm for the frame;
  • corners for fastening boards (4 pcs.); wooden plates with a thickness of 20 mm.

When going to the store for boards and slabs, we advise you to choose a material made from conifers wood. It tolerates the negative effects of precipitation much better and has a wonderful aroma.

Stages of work

Now that you have everything you need ready, you can proceed to the assembly of the wooden lounger.

You should first decide on the size garden chair... you can use finished drawing or compose it yourself. Typically standard sun loungers are 60 x 200 cm.

Now you can start making the wireframe. For it, you will need bars, of which you need to make four sidewalls - two of them should be 200 cm long, and two more - 60 cm. The finished sidewalls need to be further connected with each other using mounting angles.

From the outside, the frame must be sheathed with a board 2.5 cm wide.

We take long sidewalls and attach 4 legs to them, having previously stepped back from the edge of 8 cm. The legs can be made from beams 10 cm long. To attach them to the frame, we use self-tapping screws.

Having finished the work on the manufacture of the frame, we begin to assemble the lattice. For it, we need wooden slabs, from which we need to cut boards with dimensions of 60 x 10 cm using a jigsaw.

We attach the boards to the frame of the chaise lounge using self-tapping screws. Be sure to leave a gap of about 1.5 cm between the boards. Then the lounger grill will look neat and beautiful.

If you wish, you can make a chaise longue with an adjustable back. In this case, the grate must be divided into two parts. One of them will serve you as a lounger, and the other as a headboard. We mount both parts to connecting boards. For a secure connection of the elements, it is best to use door hinges.

In order for the headboard to be fixed in a certain position, a transverse bar should be added to the frame structure from the inside. To it with the help of self-tapping screws, you need to attach a support stand for the headboard. If you don't have one, then you can buy it at any hardware store.

Now that your homemade sunbed for the summer cottage is ready, all that remains is to grind the boards, cover them with linseed oil or special paint and varnish material to protect against moisture.

Making a fabric lounger

If a wooden folding deckchair does not suit you for some reason, then you can try making a fabric deckchair instead.

Materials and tools

To make a sun lounger from fabric material, you will need the following:

  • bolts with nuts 8 mm each;
  • a piece of durable fabric 200x60 cm;
  • circular slats with a thickness of 2 cm (one strip 700 mm long, two 650 and two 550 mm);
  • rectangular boards 30x60 cm thick (two boards 1200 mm long, two 1000 and two 600 mm);
  • sandpaper.

It is best to use tarpaulin, camouflage or denim to make a frame lounger. They are strong enough and resistant to wear and tear.

Algorithm of actions

Now you can go directly to the assembly of the fabric lounger.

As you could see above, making a chaise longue for a summer residence from fabric is no more difficult than a similar lounger made of wood.

Buying a garden chair

Perhaps some summer residents will not want to spend time and money making a sun lounger with their own hands. In this case, you can go to the store and buy a ready-made garden lounger there. The furniture showroom will offer you a variety of such products to choose from. Surely among them you will find both budget options and unusual design models of outdoor loungers.

After studying the proposed options and comparing their characteristics, you will only have to decide on the amount that you are willing to pay for a sun lounger. The cost of such loungers depends on the size and material of manufacture:

  • wooden sun loungers will cost you in the range of 6000-15000 rubles;
  • for plastic sun loungers you will have to pay from 1500 to 9000 rubles;
  • foldable frame sun loungers, which can be purchased for 1350-9500 rubles, will not hit your pocket too much.

When traveling to the dacha, many are warmed by the thought that they will have the opportunity to lie down in the fresh air for at least a few minutes and enjoy the surrounding nature. But everyone has the power to make their vacation more enjoyable, if you pre-equip a place for it. To do this, you must have special furniture like a chaise lounge.

The easiest way to buy such a lounger is in the nearest furniture store, although some owners often make a sun lounger for themselves and thereby save a lot. You can do the same, especially since you do not need to have special skills and knowledge for this. Even the most ordinary wooden lounger for a summer cottage can be made from a material that is likely to be found in any household.

But in any case, you will have to prepare for this work, because without drawings you are unlikely to be able to make exactly such a chaise longue that you want, especially if you do not have the slightest experience in this matter.

A homemade chaise lounge for a summer residence is much preferable to a store lounger, because you can decide for yourself how it should turn out, and upon completion of the work, decorate it at your discretion. Of course, this will require some effort on your part, but in the end all this will be offset by the comfort that your homemade sun lounger will provide you.

DIY sun lounger

Coming close summer season and it's time to think about creating a sun lounger with your own hands. It will allow you to enjoy your outdoor recreation to the fullest.

Chaise longue in French means a long chair. This is a relaxed lounge chair. It can change the position of the backrest at the request of the owner.

DIY sun lounger

Sun loungers are widely used on beaches and pools. On household plots, dachas.

Sun loungers are made from various materials:

  • wood;
  • plastic;
  • aluminum;
  • rattan;
  • PVC pipes;
  • durable fabric.

Wooden sun loungers are the most popular and environmentally friendly. They differ in a variety of shapes and designs. The disadvantage of monolithic wooden loungers is their weight. But this problem can be solved with wheels.

Plastic sun loungers are characterized by easy mobility, ease of maintenance, and relatively low cost. Minus their fragility.

Fabric loungers are versatile and comfortable. Their frame is made of wood, metal or PVC pipes. They fold easily and do not take up much space.

Rattan sun loungers look great in the bosom of nature. They are environmentally friendly. However, their purchase is expensive. With sufficient skills, you can simply weave a rattan bed yourself.

In this article we will tell you how to create wooden sun loungers with your own hands.

Monolithic sun lounger made of wood

Solid models are heavy. Therefore, to make it easier to carry, wheels are added to the headboard. Further instructions will help you make a sun lounger on wheels with your own hands.

You will need tools:

  • electric jigsaw or hacksaw;
  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • fine grain sandpaper;
  • spirit level;
  • roulette.

When choosing a tree, pay attention to conifers. They are sold by affordable prices, are characterized by increased water resistance.
For a chaise longue you need materials:

  • glued wood board, its thickness should be 2cm or more; not less than 2 cm thick.
  • boards 0.25 cm thick.
  • wooden beam with a square section of 50x50 mm;
  • 4 castors with a diameter of 10cm;
  • corners for strengthening the bed;
  • door hinges;
  • varnish or paint.

We suggest you to make a chaise lounge according to this scheme.

  1. Front legs.
  2. Rear legs.
  3. Longitudinal carrier.
  4. Backrest carrier.
  5. Backrest support.
  6. Load-bearing transverse.
  7. Fixing bar.
  8. Backrest support.
  9. Wheels.
  10. End bar.
  11. Backrest slats.
  12. Seat slats.
  13. The support bar is transverse.
  14. Fixing bar.

You can independently determine the size of the desired sun lounger and make calculations. Or use standard size 60x190 cm. It is the most optimal and ergonomic for the average adult.

Assembling the sun lounger on wheels

We fold the base frame from the bars. We fix the supporting parts with corners, similar to those that fix the base of the bed.

We sheathe the resulting frame with pre-prepared and sanded boards.

We make blanks for legs from a bar. Their height usually fluctuates within 5-10 cm. We choose a comfortable one for ourselves and the household.

We drill holes with a drill, stepping back 5-7 cm from the ends of the longitudinal sides. We fix the legs with long bolts. We control the horizontal side with a spirit level.

We screw the wheels to the center of the legs with bolts with a diameter of 30mm.

Let's start cutting the lattice elements. With a hacksaw or a jigsaw, we cut off boards 8x60cm.

Using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver, we screw the rails to the deck chair frame. Since the boards are not screwed tightly, we use spacers to obtain even gaps.

We should have two details. The smaller one is intended for the headboard. We connect both grilles with door hinges. Install a support bar under the opening part.

It remains to sand the production flaws. Apply wood primer. To paint in your favorite color and the chaise longue with your own hands is ready.

For a more comfortable stay, you can sew additional mattresses that fit the bed.

Simple lounger

To create a sun lounger made of wood with your own hands, you need the following materials, as well as tools:

  • tape measure and square;
  • pencil;
  • saw;
  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • screws, screws and pins for fixing;
  • sandpaper or sander;
  • putty for wood;
  • dye.

The work uses wooden beams:

  • for the back of the chaise lounge, take boards 5 × 10 with a length of 88 cm - 2 pieces, 39 cm -3 pieces, 60 cm-1 piece;
  • 2 longitudinal bars for a 215 cm frame;
  • 2 transverse beams -50 cm;
  • 6 legs -35 cm;
  • 13 slats for a seat measuring 2.5 x 8 x 60 cm;
  • 6 backrest slats - 2.5 x 8 x 88 cm.

The first priority is to create a very sturdy frame. We take two parts 215 cm long, connect them with screws with half-meter transverse parts.

Moving on to the seat. Take all 60 cm strips. Attach them to the frame with self-tapping screws, leaving small gaps. In order for the gaps to be even and uniform, use spacers 1 cm thick.

Create the lounger legs. To give maximum stability to the chaise longue, two legs are nailed “at the feet” at once. One by one at the head. The instructions indicate bars with a height of 35 cm.But you can choose a height that is comfortable for you

We make a back from 2 boards 88 cm in size and 3 boards - 39 cm. The resulting frame must easily fit into the base, leaving a small gap between the structures.

We securely fix the longitudinal strips. We round them off for a more beautiful look.

We attach the back to the base of the lounger. To do this, you need to drill holes, stepping back from the edge of the seat 9cm. We fix it with pins.

We make at the base of the chaise longue 2 grooves for the support bars. The first 5x10 cm notch should be approximately 9 cm from the stud. The second is 20cm from the first. But its depth will be only 5x5 cm.

A 60cm bar is inserted horizontally into the first recess. To change the position, the plank is moved vertically into the second recess.

Sand up all the roughness, imperfections. Process. Cover with paint or varnish. The do-it-yourself chaise lounge is ready.

Fabric sun lounger

A chair with a frame, supplemented with fabric, is one of the most comfortable, budget types of sun loungers. It is convenient to fold, easy to carry. Can be stored flat. It takes up little space.

To create a sun lounger with your own hands you will need:

  • bolts, nuts with a diameter of 8cm;
  • small nails with round heads;
  • round sticks (1pc -65cm, 2pc-50cm, 2pc-60cm);
  • rectangular bars 25x60cm thick (2 pieces 120cm, 100cm and 60cm long);
  • file, sandpaper with fine grain;
  • glue;
  • durable material measuring 200 x 50 cm.

Choose your materials carefully so that your work is not in vain. Hardwood bars are perfect for a sun lounger. Stop the choice on:

  • birch;
  • oak;
  • beech.

Choose fabrics with maximum strength. Perfect fit:

  • teak for mattresses;
  • tarpaulin;
  • canvas;
  • camouflage;
  • denim.

These materials are highly durable and will last you a long time. Let's move on to creating a sun lounger with our own hands. The base consists of three frames:

  • A. 1200x600 mm.
  • Б.1100х550 mm.
  • H.650x620 mm.

We cut the boards to the required length. Grinding with sandpaper.

In the longitudinal bars we make indents of 70 and 40 cm, we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm with a drill, as in the case of bolts. Grinding with a round file.

We make cutouts in part B. They will allow you to change the position of the backrest later. To do this, step back 7-10 centimeters. You need to cut 3 or 4 grooves. We grind well.

According to the diagram, we drill holes in the bars to connect the parts.

We collect the base of the sunbed. We connect frames A and B with screws. Then we connect frames A and B. The ends of the round rails for greater reliability are lubricated with PVA before assembly. The chaise longue frame is ready.

Now you need to sew the seat. Place the material on the bed in a folded position. The fabric should be slightly taut. Measure the length you want. Sew the edges. Thus, you will increase the wear resistance of the fabric. The chair will look more tidy.

We attach the fabric base to the lounger. We wrap round slats on parts A and B. We nail down with small nails with round caps. The chair is ready.

ADVICE. The edges of the fabric base can be made in the form of loops. In this case, the seat is simply strung on the slats.

DIY fabric sun lounger. Model 2

For this chair you will need:

  • wooden slats measuring 2x4 cm. Two slats each 122cm, 112cm, 38cm long. One piece 61 cm, 65 cm, 57 cm. And four slats 60cm long;
  • slats 2x6 cm in size. One each 61 and 57 cm;
  • 65cm wood rod with a diameter of 1.2cm;
  • a piece of fabric 137 cm long and 116 cm wide;
  • bolts, washers, nuts, screws;
  • glue;
  • round file, sandpaper or sander;
  • electric drill.

Manufacturing process:

Process all the details of the future chair in advance. Sand them with a typewriter or fine-grained sandpaper. Cover with special impregnations that protect the wood from corrosion. Appreciate your work.

Pay attention to the drawing. Bars on the bottom of the legs help keep the back in position. Make them. Or cuts, departing from the edge about 20, 25, 30 and 35 cm.

Drill the bolt holes in the backrest frame. To do this, measure 41cm on each side.

On the seat frame, step back 43cm from the top. Make holes.

On the part supporting the back, drill holes in the center of the edges.

Finish all holes with a file with round section.

Mounting the model

First assemble the backrest frame. A bar with a length of 61 cm will carry a heavy load of the body. Fasten it as securely as possible. Leave a small gap between the two battens. Tissue fixation will pass through it.

Assemble the seat. Fold it over the backrest frame. Be sure to place a washer between them. Bolt the frames together.

ADVICE. To prevent the nuts from loosening quickly, tighten the additional lock nut from above. For greater reliability, put the nuts on glue, varnish or paint. Tighten the nut first. Then loosen it slightly so that the parts rotate freely.

Install the back support piece with washers and bolts.

Sand up all the flaws. If desired, walk with varnish or paint.

Fold the fabric in half and sew, stepping back from the edge of 1.5 centimeters. Turn it out. Fold the edge of the material for the rods that fix the panel between the planks. Sew.

Now slip the fabric between the planks. Secure with a rod. This model mounting allows you to remove the fabric for washing without much effort.

Deck chair made of polyvinyl chloride

Another example of a lounger with a fabric base. Only in this case the wooden slats have been replaced with PVC pipes. Chair sizes may vary.

In this model of a chaise longue with their own hands were used:

  • 2-inch PVC pipes;
  • L-shaped connectors - 8 pieces;
  • T-shaped connectors - 6 pieces.

Connect first for vertical plank PVC pipes lengths 30 and 45 cm using a T-shaped connector. Put the L-shaped connectors on the ends. Connect the second vertical in the same way.

Now you need to connect the two sides together. Note that one horizontal bar is solid. Its length is 66cm. It is attached closer to the T-joint, which in turn should be directed towards the inside of the structure. The second side consists of two 30 cm pipes, combined with a T-shaped adapter, deployed at an angle of 45 degrees from the long side of the bar.

Do not hurry. Measure pipes accurately. As a result, you should have a rectangular design.

Now is the time to make the connection on which the seat will rotate. To do this, insert a 5cm long pipe into the T-shaped connector and secure it with another T-shaped adapter. It will form the basis of the horizontal wireframe.

Make the long sides similar to the vertical section, using pipes of 30 and 45 cm with an L-shaped connector. For the cross bars, use a 30cm solid tube. And also consisting of 2 x 20 cm with a T-shaped adapter.

You did everything right if you got a rectangle within a rectangle.

The seat is located between the long section of the vertical section and the short section of the horizontal section. Adjust the incline level to a comfortable level. Measure the distance between the two free T-pieces. Cut the pipe to the desired length. Insert the rear support.

Measure the fabric consumption for your chair. Use thick fabric... For example, canvas, tarpaulin, jeans. Hem the edges and secure the fabric to the sun lounger. Enjoy your vacation.

Portable chaise lounge

The sturdy, lightweight chair is quick to assemble and disassemble. It is convenient to take it with you to nature. The model is so easy to manufacture that it is suitable even for novice craftsmen.

The folding chair consists of 2 parts:

  • backrest covered with dense, wear-resistant fabric;
  • wooden seat.

In addition to tools, the following materials are used:

  • 2 legs for the backrest measuring 20x40x800mm;
  • 2 seat legs - 20x40x560mm;
  • 2 lower crossbars - 10x50x380mm;
  • 1 top bar - 10x40x380mm;
  • 1 crossbar for the seat - 20x40x300mm;
  • 5 slats - 20x40x400mm;
  • piece of material - 600x500mm.

The assembly procedure for a portable sun lounger is shown in the diagram.

First, the parts are connected using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver.

The workpiece is processed and varnished.

While the frame is drying, the fabric is tucked and stitched. Then it is nailed with staples and a construction stapler to a piece of wood.

We connect the back and seat of the chaise longue.

We enjoy relaxing in a brand new armchair.

Original sun lounger

Design Koalition has developed an unusual sun lounger with a canopy made of fabric, which will allow you to enjoy outdoor activities even on a hot day, protecting from the scorching sun. The cost of such a lounger is 5970 euros. We will tell you how to save money and make an original sun lounger with your own hands.

To create a sunbed, you will need the following materials. And also tools:

  • 2 sheets of plywood 2cm thick with a size of 160x180cm;
  • 6 strips with a circular cross-section with a diameter of 30mm and a length of 92cm;
  • 12 planks of plywood remnants 94x10cm;
  • thick fabric from 92cm wide;
  • construction glue;
  • screws;
  • roulette;
  • cardboard for the layout;
  • Circular Saw;
  • electric drill.

Let's start creating a sun lounger.

Transfer the diagram to cardboard or heavy paper. To facilitate the task, you can pre-draw it into 10 by 10 cm squares. The template makes it easy to correct all the shortcomings on paper. Subsequently, you will only circle it 2 times. Or maybe you will get a taste and make some armchairs for relaxation.

We transfer the drawing to sheets of plywood and cut out the side parts with a circular or band saw. In the joints with a round bar, cut out recesses with a diameter of 30 mm.

We grind all irregularities and cutting defects.

Putting together a rigid structure. We grease the ends of the timber with joiner's glue or PVA. We insert the timber into the grooves and fasten it with screws. The joints can be additionally treated with glue for maximum reliability.

Now you need to put the structure on its side. Put weighting materials on the gluing points. And let the sun lounger dry completely.

We begin to fasten the strips to the ribs of the structure. At the same time, we make an indent between them with a length of 10-12 cm. Tighten the screws deeper so that their caps do not cling to the fabric and do not tear it.

Grinding the product again. Now we hide the build flaws.

With a wood putty, we hide all the screw heads in the places where the fabric is stretched. We paint a chaise longue.

You probably noticed that the description only gives an approximate width of the awning. The fact is that you can independently decide to cover the chaise longue completely with fabric, or make only a canopy. Decide for yourself. Measure the size and sew the awning.

ADVICE. It is better to fasten the awning with ties or Velcro. This will allow the fabric to be removed at any time and washed without problems.

The chaise longue will harmoniously fit into your summer cottage exterior and will become an integral part of your holiday.

What is a sun lounger

A chaise longue is similar to a chair made of wood, but it is more reliable and less overall dimensions... It is convenient in that a person can take a position suitable for the spine and back muscles. Another no less pleasant fact is that the backrest of the garden chair is adjustable. The garden lounger is quite mobile: in summer period he can be in the garden on the site, and in winter - somewhere in the house.

In order to make folding wooden chairs, you will need:

  1. Some kind of tree, since this material is the most successful for a garden lounger, moreover, it is quite environmentally friendly;
  2. Rattan;
  3. Plastic;
  4. 2 cm board made of glued wood;
  5. Wooden boards and beams;
  6. Kit necessary tools: jigsaw, drill, screwdriver.
  7. Drill;
  8. Rollers (10 centimeters in diameter);
  9. Corners (mounts);
  10. Sanding sheets;
  11. Varnish, paint (at personal discretion);

Chaise lounge dimensions

The traditional size of a chaise longue is 60 x 190 cm, but you can choose the one that will suit your needs. You should start with a schematic representation of the future chair, drawings should provide for all the nuances... When a decision has been made about the appropriate size, you can already start preparing the parts.

Construction stages

It is necessary to prepare the bars for the legs - 5-10 cm. Next, you need to attach the legs, stepping back from the edge of the bars 5-7 cm, and to them - the rollers.

Parts of the lattice for the chair must be made using a jigsaw. For them, the optimal size will be 8 x 60 cm.The spacers will help make a suitable distance from 1–2 centimeters so that the strips can be screwed to the frame. After all this work has been done, the chair needs to be sanded and varnished or painted.

If you wish, you can also make a folding country chair. In this case, the wooden lattice must be delimited into 2 parts, which then you need to connect with door hinges. Also, do not forget about the mounting plate, which must be installed so that it supports the rack, screwed on with screws.

Lounger with fabric

The easiest method to make a sun lounger with your own hands is a chair made of dense material on a frame. it optimal choice for suburban area , since it is quite multifunctional: in a matter of seconds you can make from your country chair chair.

Necessary materials:

A fabric of sufficient density is suitable for a folding country sun lounger, good quality and not exposed to sunlight and moisture. You need to choose jeans, canvas or tarpaulin.

The work needs to start with the preparation of the rails. suitable size and grinding them, and after that you can start assembling all the elements.

Assembly instructions

Need to drill holes for bolts the right size on long bars, remove all unevenness by grinding. Then in a place located in close proximity to the head lying, you need to make the same holes so that you can change the bending angle.

At the ends of the long bars, two holes must be made through which the seat will be made. The diameter of the round bars should be the same as the diameter of the long ones. For a better connection, coat the ends with PVA glue.

Bolt all the resulting elements through the holes made in the headboard.

After the above steps, you can proceed to the final stroke - stretching the fabric. Stretch the fabric over the frame products, fasten the edges on the crossbars with a thick thread (if you decide to sew the fabric before attaching it to the frame, you can use a sewing machine).

Kentucky armchair

This chair, perhaps, can be called even more interesting than the previous ones, because it will really become a decoration of your plot. The assembly of the Kentucky chair is carried out only by means of the uneven bars.

Types of sun loungers and sun loungers

Depending on the type of construction, sun loungers can be conditionally divided into several varieties:

  • Monolithic frame. This is a street chair in which all the elements are connected to each other "tightly". Such a product is very durable and can withstand even the heaviest loads. It is absolutely safe even for young children under 1 year old. But, meanwhile, such a product during its operation may create some inconvenience. In such a chaise longue it is impossible to make your own adjustments and change the angle of inclination of the back, it does not fold and therefore it is inconvenient to move it from place to place, as well as store it in small spaces(pantries, closets, etc.).
  • Monolithic armchairs with special inserts have excellent appearance and are characterized by a high degree of decorativeness. They are equipped with additional inserts, which are made of materials of different characteristics, which reduce the degree of strength of such a structure. But, meanwhile, they look very aesthetically pleasing and effective.
  • Portable folding designs of chaise lounges have special movable mechanisms that allow you to quickly change the position of the back at your discretion. This applies to the entire deck chair as a whole. If necessary, a person can easily change the degree of inclination of the backrest, headrest, and lower legrest. You can take portable folding sun loungers with you on a trip due to their extremely compact folded size. They practically do not get dirty during long-term operation.

Preparation for creation: select a drawing and determine the dimensions

Before you start making a sun lounger for your home, you need to decide on optimal design and choose the most optimal and uncomplicated option that you can easily do yourself without the help of masters.

The main thing is to find accurate and competent drawings that will make it easy to cope with such work and, as a result, get the most convenient and maximal reliable design for summer holidays in your personal plot, as well as near a river or lake.

Choosing materials for assembling a convenient and durable structure: tips for choosing

Let's look at what types of country sun loungers are, as well as the types of materials from which they are made. Their advantages and disadvantages, as well as what materials can be purchased for their manufacture.

  1. Sun loungers made of wooden planks and beams are considered the best, since wood is an environmentally friendly natural material. Today you can see the most different options sun loungers and sun loungers, ranging from ordinary outdoor chairs with a movable back to the most comfortable models that exactly follow all the contours of the body of the seated person. Since the back of such a chaise lounge can be fixed in several different positions, a person can always take the most comfortable position for him while resting for sleep or contemplation of nature. It should be noted that wooden sun loungers are quite heavy, therefore, usually their frame is equipped with two wheels for convenient movement of the product around the personal plot. As a convenient addition, fabric mattresses with soft padding can be sewn, which will be attached to the frame using ordinary rope ties. Since the tree is afraid of water, it is not recommended to put such sun loungers near pools, rivers or lakes, where they can constantly get water or they will absorb a large amount of moisture. Water will help the wood swell and deform. Even if the boards and beams are well treated with various means, covered with a water-repellent deck varnish, it is still not worth the risk. When buying lumber for the manufacture of a frame, it must be borne in mind that the most durable and high quality boards and beams of larch, oak, birch, teak, hazel, spruce are considered. Pine is the cheapest, but it must be well dried and thoroughly treated with antiseptic agents.
  2. Plastic sun loungers are budget option, which are usually installed near swimming pools, on city beaches and in other public places. They cannot be made at home, but they have an affordable price, are easy to care for, and are also not afraid of moisture.
  3. Deck chairs in the form of swings and rocking chairs can provide wonderful rest for both adults and children. Chaise longue frame - the swing clings to a strong hook on a reliable metal support, and then simply sways in the air. At the top of the counter, an umbrella or large canopy is usually placed, which protects vacationers from the hot sun rays.
  4. A very unusual option can be called a designer model of a rocking chair, which has round supports in the form of two strong iron hoops. Such a chaise longue can be easily folded and moved to another place.
  5. Wicker loungers are a great option for outdoor seating furniture that is made from natural materials such as the popular rattan, bouncy vines or sturdy hemp. Also, products can be made from synthetic fibers. Since wicker loungers are considered premium furniture, their cost is quite high. Rattan products are distinguished by their beauty, design delights and excellent style solutions.
  6. Chaise lounges made from pallets or pallets, which are used to move and store goods, will be an excellent cost-effective inexpensive option, since such wooden structures can be bought at a bargain price if they have already served their life and are unusable. They will need to be slightly repaired, sanded and painted with multi-colored paint, and then you can assemble a sunbed - a chaise longue for your home. The base of the structure is made from two pallets bolted or self-tapping together, and an inclined back is made from the third. They look very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, and also have a long service life.
  7. Fabric sun loungers on a wooden or metal frame are the most comfortable, comfortable and easy to use. The basis here is a frame made of wood or metal, on which a seat made of dense fabric (canvas, tarpaulin, jeans, teak, mattress fabric or camouflage) is worn.

Wood and fabric are environmentally friendly materials, so such a chaise longue will be an excellent option for a summer cottage where there are small children. The downside is street construction the fragility of the fabric is, but if it breaks or loses its aesthetic appearance, you can always replace it with another one and the chaise longue will again be like new. Wooden frame can be sanded and recoated with varnish or paint, and metal can be treated with sandpaper and also painted with a special water-repellent paint for metal.

It is best to buy a metal profile seamless, since the frame of the chaise longue will have to "hold" a sufficiently large weight of a person, and it must be strong.

Whenever possible, purchase stainless or galvanized pipes that are least susceptible to corrosion and have a long service life.

Calculation of the required amount of material for the structure: working tools

In order to make a wooden chaise longue with a fabric seat at home, we do not need complex and expensive tools, so even an inexperienced novice master can make such a structure for his summer cottage or suburban area at the lowest cost.

For the backrest device we need wooden planks such sizes:

  • Two pieces 19x38x1219 mm;
  • One piece 19x38x610 mm;
  • One piece 19x38x648 mm;
  • One piece 19x64x610 mm.

For the manufacture of a seat frame, boards of the following sizes are needed:

  • Two pieces 19x38x1118 mm;
  • Four pieces 19x38x603 mm;
  • One piece 19x38x565 mm;
  • One piece 19x64x565 mm.

To manufacture the back support of the structure:

  • Two boards 19x38x381 mm;
  • One wooden round dowel with a diameter of 12 mm (length 648 mm).

To make a fabric seat, we need:

  • Two pieces of awning, denim, camouflage, mattress or other durable fabric (a piece measuring 1372x578 mm);
  • Two wooden dowels with a diameter of 12 mm (length 559 mm).

For fastening the structure:

  • Four bolts with nuts size 6x50 mm;
  • Twelve washers for nuts;
  • Wood screws size 4x50 mm;
  • Regular PVA glue or special glue for wood products.

As tools we will use:

I would like to give recommendations to the hostesses. The fabric seat is easy to remove and therefore washable as it gets dirty. This way, your chaise longue will always be clean and tidy. If you wish, you can sew several versions of the fabric seat and change it depending on your mood and other factors.

Wooden elements need to be sanded again once every two or three years, covered with protective agents, varnish or water-repellent paint, and then the chaise longue will serve you much longer.

Video: How to make a metal structure with your own hands

A wooden chaise longue with a fabric seat will be the lightest construction to manufacture and comfortable for summer country holiday... If you make several designs with your own hands, then you can not worry that you will have nowhere to rest on warm summer days with your large and friendly family. Both adults and children will be able to comfortably stay on the territory of the personal plot or near the river that flows nearby and enjoy the beautiful views of natural landscapes and flowing water.

The summer season is approaching and it's time to think about creating a sun lounger with your own hands. It will allow you to enjoy your outdoor recreation to the fullest.

Chaise longue in French means a long chair. This is a relaxed lounge chair. It can change the position of the backrest at the request of the owner.

Sun loungers are widely used on beaches and pools. On personal plots, dachas.

Sun loungers are made from various materials:

  • wood;
  • plastic;
  • aluminum;
  • rattan;
  • PVC pipes;

For the durability of the effort expended, the materials used must be processed.

Wood from moisture, harmful insects, rot, mold will help protect antiseptics and special impregnations. Processing is best done before assembling the structure.

After installing the lounger, the wooden parts should be coated with a primer, linseed oil, varnish or paint. This will extend the lifespan of your masterpiece.

The fabrics should also be protected from rain and sun. Water-repellent impregnations will help to maintain their brightness and service. Their action lasts 2-4 weeks.

And, of course, remember the well-known Russian proverb while working. Measure seven times, cut off one.

Monolithic sun lounger made of wood

Solid models are heavy. Therefore, to make it easier to carry, wheels are added to the headboard. Further instructions will help you make a sun lounger on wheels with your own hands.

You will need tools:

  • electric jigsaw or hacksaw;
  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • fine grain sandpaper;
  • spirit level;
  • roulette.

When choosing a tree, pay attention to conifers. They are sold at affordable prices and are characterized by increased water resistance.
For a chaise longue you need materials:

  • glued wood board, its thickness should be 2cm or more; not less than 2 cm thick.
  • boards 0.25 cm thick.
  • wooden beam with a square section of 50x50 mm;
  • 4 castors with a diameter of 10cm;
  • corners for strengthening the bed;
  • door hinges;
  • varnish or paint.

We suggest you to make a chaise lounge according to this scheme.

Legend:

  1. Front legs.
  2. Rear legs.
  3. Longitudinal carrier.
  4. Backrest carrier.
  5. Backrest support.
  6. Load-bearing transverse.
  7. Fixing bar.
  8. Backrest support.
  9. Wheels.
  10. End bar.
  11. Backrest slats.
  12. Seat slats.
  13. The support bar is transverse.
  14. Fixing bar.

You can independently determine the size of the desired sun lounger and make calculations. Or use the standard size 60x190 cm.

  • tape measure and square;
  • pencil;
  • saw;
  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • screws, screws and pins for fixing;
  • sandpaper or sander;
  • putty for wood;
  • dye.

The work uses wooden beams:

  • for the back of the chaise lounge, take boards 5 × 10 with a length of 88 cm - 2 pieces, 39 cm -3 pieces, 60 cm-1 piece;
  • 2 longitudinal bars for a 215 cm frame;
  • 2 transverse beams -50 cm;
  • 6 legs -35 cm;
  • 13 slats for a seat measuring 2.5 x 8 x 60 cm;

The resulting frame must easily enter the base, leaving a small gap between the structures.

  • bolts, nuts with a diameter of 8cm;
  • small nails with round heads;
  • round sticks (1pc -65cm, 2pc-50cm, 2pc-60cm);
  • rectangular bars 25x60cm thick (2 pieces 120cm, 100cm and 60cm long);
  • file, sandpaper with fine grain;
  • glue;
  • durable material measuring 200 x 50 cm.

Choose your materials carefully so that your work is not in vain. Hardwood bars are perfect for a sun lounger. Stop the choice on:

  • birch;
  • oak;
  • beech.

Choose fabrics with maximum strength. Perfect fit:

  • teak for mattresses;
  • tarpaulin;
  • canvas;
  • camouflage;

  • wooden slats measuring 2x4 cm. Two slats each 122cm, 112cm, 38cm long. One piece 61 cm, 65 cm, 57 cm. And four slats 60cm long;
  • slats 2x6 cm in size. One each 61 and 57 cm;
  • 65cm wood rod with a diameter of 1.2cm;
  • a piece of fabric 137 cm long and 116 cm wide;
  • bolts, washers, nuts, screws;
  • glue;
  • round file, sandpaper or sander;

Finish all holes with a round file.

This mounting model allows you to remove the fabric for washing without much effort.

Deck chair made of polyvinyl chloride

Another example of a lounger with a fabric base. Only in this case the wooden slats have been replaced with PVC pipes. Chair sizes may vary.

In this model of a chaise longue with their own hands were used:

  • 2-inch PVC pipes;
  • L-shaped connectors - 8 pieces;
  • T-shaped connectors - 6 pieces.

First connect 30cm and 45cm PVC pipes for the vertical strip using a T-piece.

Use a thick fabric.

  • backrest covered with dense, wear-resistant fabric;
  • wooden seat.

In addition to tools, the following materials are used:

  • 2 legs for the backrest measuring 20x40x800mm;
  • 2 seat legs - 20x40x560mm;
  • 2 lower crossbars - 10x50x380mm;
  • 1 top bar - 10x40x380mm;
  • 1 crossbar for the seat - 20x40x300mm;
  • 5 slats - 20x40x400mm;

Pay attention to another interesting chaise longue model in the video.

Kentucky armchair

The original type of sun lounger can be made by hand. A plank bed is assembled from bars. Convenient, easy to fold. Takes up a minimum of storage space.

For the chair you will need:

  • 4mm galvanized wire;
  • 16 staples;
  • bars 30x55 mm.

Before starting the assembly, it is recommended to process the bars to protect them from ultraviolet rays and moisture. Choose an oil and wax stain. Beyz will do well. You can take parquet oil. Apply with a spray bottle or brush.

Kentucky Chair Installation

Drill holes. Their diameter should be slightly wider than the thickness of the galvanized wire. Sand all irregularities and roughness.

Fold the parts according to the photo and start stringing the planks on the wire.

Fix it with brackets.

ADVICE. Use galvanized studs instead of wire. They are secured with nuts and washers.

Lift the planks. The Kentucky chair is ready to use.

  • 2 sheets of plywood 2cm thick with a size of 160x180cm;
  • 6 strips with a circular cross-section with a diameter of 30mm and a length of 92cm;
  • 12 planks of plywood remnants 94x10cm;
  • thick fabric from 92cm wide;
  • construction glue;
  • screws;
  • roulette;
  • cardboard for the layout;
  • Circular Saw;
  • electric drill.

Birch lounger

I must say that our Russian craftsmen are distinguished by their ingenuity and creative approach. This chaise longue is made by hand from birch logs. It is distinguished by Russian folk flavor. Perfect for garden areas.

The work uses:

  • logs with a diameter of 75-120mm;
  • drill and drill set;
  • electric saw;
  • staples and screws;
  • marker;
  • electrical tape or chalk for drawing.

Let's start creating a sun lounger.

We cut the trunk into logs 45 cm long.

On the floor, we draw a line of the future lounger using chalk, or glue it with electrical tape.

We lay the logs according to the scheme. We drill holes with a drill and connect the logs using long self-tapping screws. We use a socket wrench.

We turn over the almost finished product. We are testing. We eliminate the disadvantages.

For greater stability, we fix the back side of the lounger with brackets.

A monolithic birch chaise longue is ready to delight you and your guests.
