Children's sandbox with their own hands for the house. How to make a children's sandbox with your own hands: photos and ideas for suburban areas

The costs of building a sandbox are minimal, and it will bring great pleasure to children. Of course, you can buy a ready-made structure and just fill it with sand, but a hand-made sandbox is much more interesting and convenient.

Seat selection

Before starting the construction of the sandbox, you need to find the most suitable place for it, because the comfort and safety of the baby depends on it. There are several rules for sandbox placement:

For protection from the sun, you can place a sandbox under a small sturdy tree or build it. But you should not do this under old trees: at any time a heavy branch may fall from the tree onto the child.

Sandbox construction

If you have chosen a place for the sandbox, you can start the main process. First you need to calculate the dimensions of the structure, choose the shape, and properly prepare the base. The size of the sandbox depends on the age and the number of children who will play in it. For three kids 1-3 years old, a section of 1.5x1.5 m is quite enough, for older children it is recommended to make sandboxes 2x2 m, and standard designs have dimensions of 1.7x1.7 m.

Most often, the sandbox is rectangular or square, but sometimes round and hexagonal structures are found. Much depends on the fantasy of the master and his skill; if experience in such matters is minimal, it is better to stay with the standard square shape. Wood is used as a building material, namely pine boards.

Additionally you will need:

  • shovel;
  • roulette;
  • pegs and rope;
  • geotextile;
  • sand;
  • rammer;
  • timber 50x50 mm;
  • hacksaw;
  • antiseptic impregnation;
  • liquid bitumen;
  • grinder.

Step 1. Site preparation

The selected area is cleared of stones, branches, weeds, and the surface is leveled. If the dimensions of the sandbox are 1.5x1.5 m, then the cleared area should be 10-15 cm larger on each side - this is necessary for more accurate marking.

Step 2. Markup

Now you need 4 pegs, a tape measure and a long rope. Visually determine the location of one of the corners of the structure, drive in a peg, draw two perpendicular lines from it, mark the location of the last corner. A rope is pulled between the pegs and the length of the diagonals inside the markings is checked. They must be exactly the same.

Step 3. Preparing the base

Inside the fence, a soil layer is selected to a depth of at least 20-25 cm. The walls of the pit must be leveled so that they are strictly vertical. When all the soil is removed, the bottom is trimmed and compacted. Sifted fine sand is poured on top with a layer of 5 cm, well tamped.

Step 4. Making the frame

The bar is sawn into pieces 45 cm long, the lower ends are sharpened, polished, treated with impregnation and coated to half with liquid bitumen. Now you need to install them at the corners of the perimeter and deepen 15 cm into the soil. The next stage is to fasten the boards: they are knocked down in pairs and screwed to the bars with self-tapping screws. You can do it differently: first, completely assemble the frame, and then install it over the pit.

Boards can be taken narrow or wide, the main thing is that the width of the walls is at least 30 cm. Be sure to treat the surface of each board with a grinding attachment on both sides, then soak and dry. After that, the boards are knocked down into a square box and reinforced at the corners with bars, which on one side should protrude 15 cm beyond the perimeter of the box.

Step 5. Installation of the sides

For the convenience of the child, small sides should be made around the perimeter of the frame. To do this, take 4 boards 20 cm wide, polish them very well, cover with an antiseptic and cut the edges at an angle of 45 degrees. Lay the boards on top of the walls, align and align the joints, screw tightly with self-tapping screws. The caps of the self-tapping screws should be well sunk into the wood so that the child does not get hurt. Sometimes, instead of the sides, corner benches are made: they take a board of short length, process it well, put it on two adjacent walls, stepping back a few centimeters from the corner. After that, the board is nailed on both sides, and the edges protruding beyond the perimeter are cut off.

Step 6. Finishing the structure

Now the sandbox needs to be painted correctly. For this, paints of 2-4 colors are chosen, always bright and contrasting. Bumpers or benches can not only be painted, but painted with ornaments, images of animals, flowers. Once the paint is dry, the structure is filled with sand.

Sandbox cover making

An open sandbox becomes clogged very quickly, so you have to periodically sift the sand or change it altogether. To avoid such problems, it is recommended to install a wooden cover. It is not difficult to make it, and the result will be not only good protection from debris, but also comfortable benches. It is best to mount the cover before installing the frame in a permanent place.

For work you will need:

  • pine boards 25 mm thick;
  • jigsaw;
  • long loops;
  • bolts with nuts;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • timber with a section of 30x50 mm;
  • primer;
  • dye;
  • drill.

Step 1. Preparation of the material

The boards are cut to the width of the sandbox, all surfaces and edges are treated with a grinding nozzle. After that, they are primed, dried and covered with two layers of paint. The hinges also need to be painted, otherwise traces of corrosion will appear after the first rain.

Step 2. Assembling the first half of the cover

Assembling the first half

On one side, two boards are screwed onto the sandbox frame with self-tapping screws. Two more boards are connected with bars and attached with loops to the first. In this case, the bars should be at the bottom, and the hinges on top of the lid. They take two more boards and connect them with bars, the length of which exceeds the width of the shield. That is, on one side, the bars protrude a third beyond the edge of the board. This shield is also connected to the previous one using loops, only this time the loops should be at the bottom and the bars on top. The hinges are screwed to the wood with bolts, since the screws loosen quickly.

Step 3. Assembling the second half

This half can be made without a back, which makes the process a little easier. On the free side of the frame, not 2, but 3 boards are stuffed, then a shield of two boards is knocked down and fixed with loops, as in the previous case. To prevent the lid from sagging under the weight of children, it is reinforced in the middle with a bar. Now, when opening, the first half folds into a comfortable bench with a back, and the second simply folds back half its width.

Installing the frame

To install, you will need an assistant: the structure is lifted, turned over with protruding bars down and carefully lowered into the pit. The edges of the frame must match the edges of the foundation pit. To keep the sandbox level, you should check the location of the walls. building level... If necessary, remove excess soil or add more, leveling the frame horizontally. After that, the bottom of the future sandbox is covered so that its edges go 3-5 cm onto the walls on each side. The dense material will protect the sand from erosion, prevent moisture from accumulating and prevent insects and moles from crawling underneath. In conclusion, the soil is compacted from the outside and dumped from gravel or sand.

The sand layer for the game should be about 15 cm thick; it will take about a ton to fill a standard sandbox. It is recommended to choose river sand or quartz sand, which does not cake. Before backfilling, it must be sieved through a fine sieve to remove debris, vegetable impurities, insects.

Installing a canopy

Sandbox sheds come in a wide variety of shapes and are made from different materials... The most common option is fungus. For its manufacture, you will need a bar with a length of 3 m and a section of 100x100 mm, boards and plywood. Such a fungus is installed at the stage of preparing the base, since it must be dug in the center of the sandbox to a depth of 1 m.

The manufacturing process is very simple:

  • the bar is polished, treated with an antiseptic;
  • the lower part is coated bituminous mastic at a height of at least one meter;
  • 4 triangles are knocked down from the boards, sheathed with plywood;
  • connect the triangles to each other and attach to the upper part of the timber using spacers;
  • in the center of the pit they dig a hole 1 m deep;
  • insert a bar, level it with a plumb line;
  • They fill the hole with rubble and soil, tamp it.

There is another version of the canopy: vertical posts are bolted in the center of two opposite walls of the frame. The height of the racks is 2 m; in the upper part of the support, they are connected with a horizontal rail, through which a rectangular segment is thrown thick fabric or a special canopy. The ends of the canopy on each side are fixed with metal hooks to the walls of the sandbox.

The described options are the most simple and popular; if desired, they can be supplemented at your discretion. The most important thing is that the design is as safe as possible, then the baby will be happy to play in it, and the parents will be able to relax a little.

Video - DIY sandbox

Your beloved child is growing up, and it's time to think about a cozy children's corner in the country. What do children love the most? Of course play! Create your own little family in a children's home, fly as high as possible on a swing, slide down a slide with delight and, of course, build castles and sand cakes under the bright "fungus" of a sandbox. We'll talk about building a nursery with our own hands.

It would seem, what's so difficult? I brought in the sand, fenced it with boards around the perimeter, leveled it - the sandbox is ready! But it's not that simple. It is necessary to take into account many important nuances. Which ones? Let's try to figure it out.

Sandbox placement

Never hide the sandbox behind tall bushes or outbuildings. Children should always be in your sight, so position it so that you can see your children playing in the sand. Try to choose a place so that half of the sandbox is in the sun and half in the shade.

To do this, you can equip it not far from a spreading tree, however, then you will have to regularly clean the area of foliage and twigs. If suitable places no shadow, you can install the "fungus" umbrella in the sandbox.

Preparing the sandbox base

The size and shape of the sandbox can be arbitrary, but standard structures for children 2-5 years old are usually made 1.7 × 1.7 m. This is the size of the sandbox we will build with you.

Operating procedure:

  1. Arm yourself with pegs, marking tape, cord.
  2. Fence the area around the perimeter.
  3. Then remove the 30 cm layer of earth, and make a hole in the center of the sandbox 60-70 cm deep and 40-50 cm in diameter.
  4. Fill it with rubble or pebbles, tamp it a little - you get a kind of drainage well.
  5. Make a slight slope from the sides of the sandbox towards the center. Now, after heavy rains, your sandbox will not turn into a swamp and will dry out quickly.
  6. As a result, we got a rectangular fossa measuring 170 × 170 × 30 cm with a slope towards the center.

Sandbox foundation

The basis for the sandbox can be a dense plastic film, sidewalk and even an ordinary sheet with pre-made holes (for).

You don't need to make a foundation, but then over time the sand will mix with the ground, and your kids will become uncomfortable to play. In addition, the base will block the path to the holy of holies of children's play and insects, which (oddly enough) also love sand. One caveat: the base should be laid on a previously poured sand "pillow" 5-6 cm high.

Sandbox sides

Prepare 4 blocks measuring 95x5x5 cm, 4 boards measuring 150x30x2.5 cm and 4 boards for the side-seats (they are laid on top, along the perimeter of the sandbox), sand them well. To do this, you can use a conventional grinding attachment on an electric drill or grinder. Then 2-3 times treat the boards and timber with drying oil (instead of drying oil, you can use any means that protects the tree from decay).

Dig in the bars in the corners of the sandbox, deepening them 15-20 cm, then nail the boards to them. If you don't have wide boards, you can make shields from narrow ones, for example, take 3 boards 10 cm wide on each wall of the sandbox. Then, along the perimeter of the sandbox, strengthen the horizontal seat pads, on which it is convenient to sculpt Easter cakes, where children can sit to rest.

A sandbox cover is an optional, but very desirable attribute of a construction so beloved by children. It will protect the sand from debris (dry foliage, twigs from nearby bushes and trees, and so on). And most importantly, prevent leopards and balls from using the sandbox as a litter box.

As a cover, you can use an awning, which will have to be constantly pulled over the sandbox. And you can make a lid from boards, which is much more convenient with frequent use.

A hinged cover for a sandbox made of two shields is very convenient. Shields are fastened with hinged hinges and supplied with handles. When unfolded, they turn into comfortable benches with backs.

Even a small child 4-5 years old can independently open such a structure.

Sandbox decoration

There is a place for your imagination to roam! Paint the sandbox in bright colors. You can apply not only colorful pictures to the walls and sides, but also various developmental drawings: letters, numbers, geometric shapes.

If you prefer the natural color of the wood, just treat the structure appropriately.

The main thing is that children should like the sandbox!

Sandbox filling

To fill the sandboxes, river sand (it is the purest) or quartz sand (you can buy it at the store) is usually used. Anyone before falling asleep in the sandbox must be sieved. And if you are going to buy a quartz crystal, find one that contains special additives that scare away our smaller brothers. By the way, our sandbox requires quite a lot of sand, at least 1 ton.

And if you "turn on" your imagination, you can build the most beautiful ones with sand, which will become wonderful decoration dachas. Here are some photos, perhaps you will take some idea for yourself.

Or you can build a playground from scrap materials!

Children's leisure is entirely the concern of parents. If you do not want your children to look for activities and adventures on their own, but have been in business for at least some time, build a simple structure for them - a sandbox.

What are the requirements for a children's sandbox

The arrangement of a children's play area in a private house or not is impossible without a sandbox. While you take care of the house, garden or vegetable garden, children will be happy to spend time making sand cakes.

Working with sand has a beneficial effect on hand motility, emotional intelligence and baby's tactile sensations. Multiple buddy buddies in the same sandbox are an easy way to improve your social skills in a playful way.

How to build a simple sandbox with a lid

For older children, "sand games" allow them to develop imagination and creativity: when sculpting "pasochki" becomes uninteresting, they begin to invent complex and fanciful figures.

In a word, a sandbox for children is a construction for more than one year, which will definitely not stand idle. For a child to use it with pleasure, it must be:

  • safe: a sandbox for a home is often made from used materials, make sure that the boards are well cleaned and get rid of old nails;
  • comfortable: in children's sandboxes with their own hands, thoughtfulness and ergonomics are appreciated. Think about where the child will sit, be sure to shade the place of the game with a "fungus" or an umbrella, provide a place for storing the game "props": scoops, molds, buckets and rakes;
  • hygienic... Children's sandboxes should be easy to clean, and the sand in them should not mix with the ground.

Much that lies derelict on the site will be suitable for the construction of a sandbox pool. Foam block or bricks, trimming of timber and boards, waste tires, pallets will be used.

The easiest way is to build a wooden box and fill it with sand, but such a sandbox is rarely made deep and is more focused on a younger audience. There are also such configurations:

  • Transforming sandbox, do it yourself from wooden beam or boards. Its trick is that it assumes the presence of benches or a full-fledged recreation area.

  • Roofed sandbox, canopy or awning from the sun.

  • Tire sandbox... A large truck tire is enough for one toddler. If you have two or three children or the only child loves to sculpt the beads in the company, make a sandbox from tires in the shape of a flower, fastening the painted in bright colours halves.

Sandbox building: useful life hacks

Preparation before construction do-it-yourself sandbox looks like this:

  1. take pegs to mark the territory in accordance with the desired size of the sandbox, tape and lace;
  2. at the site of the future sandbox, remove 30 cm of soil, in the central part make a depression 0.6-0.7 m with a diameter of 0.4-0.5 m;
  3. fill the recess with gravel or pebbles, tamp - this is the drainage of your sandbox;
  4. Provide a slight slope from the edges of the sandbox to the center so that after the rain the water quickly leaves and does not stagnate.

All children love to play in the sand in the summer. To provide the child with the joy of playing, as well as take care of his safety, each parent thinks about how to build a sandbox with his own hands, especially if it is planned to travel to a summer cottage.

How to make a sandbox in the country with your own hands

When going to the dacha with the baby, you should think over in advance all the entertainment that he will do. The most common and budget option construction of a makeshift sandbox is considered. Many confident dads think that for her you can just bring sand to the site and fence it with boards. But it's not that simple. Do-it-yourself sandbox for children at the dacha has a lot of nuances.

It is necessary to take into account the basic rules for placing a sand platform:

  • for the safety of the child, the structure must stand correctly and always be in sight of the parents;
  • the top layer of soil must be removed to create a good base;
  • according to the rules of hygiene, the site cannot be under a tree so that foreign objects (sticks, bird droppings, leaves) do not fall;
  • it is better to have a canopy or roof to protect the baby from the sun;
  • to build a sandbox for children in the country with their own hands, the ideal material is wood (timber, small diameter logs, block house);
  • the area with sand in the garden can be of any shape (circle, hexagon, rectangle), but often it is a square, measuring 3 by 3 meters, with a board thickness of 3 cm.

Wooden children's sandbox with a lid for giving

The playground with sand is a favorite place for kids. Therefore, a do-it-yourself sandbox for a summer residence can be made with a lid. This is necessary to protect the child, the convenience and cleanliness of the filler, so that debris and food waste does not get into the sand. You can take an ordinary awning for the roof, while it will have to be pulled over the sandbox every evening. It is better to make the lid from boards, which is more convenient to use. You can make a similar playground as follows:

  • we outline a preliminary drawing of the future structure;
  • mark on the site with pegs a place measuring 2 by 2 meters;
  • we dig a hole 25 cm deep in the resulting square;
  • cover the hole with a special material (or install a pallet) that allows moisture to pass through, so that there is no mixing of earth and sand;
  • we prepare the bars (45 × 5 × 5 cm), having previously treated them with an antiseptic, drive them into each corner;
  • we collect a square from the boards and put it so that each corner falls on the timber;
  • we attach the structure to the bars using self-tapping screws;
  • building two wooden board from boards (30 cm wide, 2.5 cm thick);
  • we clean and process all the details so that there are no chips;
  • we fasten the shields with hinge loops and supply them with handles;
  • when unfolded, such a roof turns into comfortable benches;
  • fill the pit with sand.

Round children's sandbox with your own hands

The big wheel itself can be a playground. You just need to find a place for it at the dacha and fill it with sand. In this case, the structure must be deepened into the ground. The disadvantage is the cramped space, more than 3 children cannot be accommodated in it. That's why the best option is a sandbox for children with their own hands from tires. Tires from trucks and tractors are often used. This requires:

  • in the drawing we mark how many tires there will be, and where they will be located;
  • we mark the site and fill in the sand;
  • we place the tires around the perimeter of the area with sand, not very tightly to each other (about 20 cm);
  • we get a comfortable support for sitting;
  • we deepen the tires a little into the ground;
  • playground with sand is ready.

Do-it-yourself sandbox with a canopy

It doesn't matter at all what shape the sand platform will be, the main thing is that it has a roof. A canopy is needed to protect children from any weather (rain, sun rays, etc.). As a basis, you can take the creation of a simple wooden platform for sand. A do-it-yourself sandbox cover can look like a fungus or an umbrella. To create it you will need:

  • a log with a diameter of 10 cm and a length of 3 meters - this will be the leg for the lid, which must be buried a meter in the center of the sandbox;
  • fix the block with stones;
  • the hat should be knocked together from the boards, for this we connect four triangles together and nail them to the leg with an overlap;
  • the canopy from above should be sewn up with clapboard;
  • you can make a transforming roof that folds like an umbrella;
  • the size of the canopy is arbitrary, but, as a rule, the width of the hat is 2 m;
  • the tree must be treated with an antiseptic.

Wooden children's sandbox with benches

The design with benches is comfortable for children and parents. To create it you will need:

  • on the plot drawing, mark the place of the future site;
  • assemble the box, as for a simple playground, and treat with a primer;
  • we make benches and a canopy;
  • the cover, as a rule, consists of two leaves: one fixed and the other movable;
  • the fixed part (the base for the bench), which is made up of two boards, is sewn to the box with self-tapping screws;
  • then we connect the movable part of the bench with the fixed one;
  • we lay it out on the box and use the screws to fix the awnings;
  • it is necessary that there is a small gap between the sashes to be connected, ensuring optimal rotation;
  • as a result, you should get a wooden folding accordion, which can be easily transformed into a comfortable bench.

How to make a boat-shaped children's sandbox

There can be a huge number of ideas for creating a sandbox. It all depends on the imagination of the parents. For example, a play structure with sand for children can be made in the form of a car, an excavator, or a boat. The most popular option for little pirates is the sand-filled ship. A sandbox is being built for children at the dacha with their own hands like this:

  • we construct a square base with small sides;
  • near one side of the hull, two blanks must be driven into the ground, to which we then attach boards for the stern of the ship;
  • make a nose in the form of a triangle and attach it to the base;
  • we make a 3-step ladder so that the kid can independently move from the sandbox to the bow of the ship;
  • we sew the top of the triangle with boards;
  • the arrangement of the resulting vessel can be varied: sea pictures, diagrams, mast, pirate attributes, etc.;
  • the structure, if desired, can be supplemented with an extension;
  • it is interesting to play in such a closed house and it is convenient to store toys.
