Painting flower pots. The original decor of flower pots with your own hands - interesting ideas, tips and photo examples What paint to paint a clay pot

Before starting work, you need to decide on the decor technique, choose color range and the containers that you will make out. You can decorate flower pots in a variety of sizes, shapes and materials from which they are made.

First of all, before decorating, you need to prepare the base of the dishes. To do this, it is cleaned of dirt, dust, drips, and if there are any decorative elements on it, they are removed. After that, you need to dry it. The basis for registration is ready, it remains to decide on the methodology.

When creating an interesting pot design, it is not at all necessary to buy expensive decor, you can use what is in every home. However, when choosing a material for design, it is necessary to take into account the material from which the container is made.

Marine stylistics

Each house has souvenirs brought from the sea, such as pebbles, shells and colored glass, with which you can arrange containers for indoor plants... Also, seafood souvenirs can be combined with a wide variety of small details, for example, with coins, buttons, shards of broken dishes, or ceramic tiles.

Getting started, you need to thoroughly rinse and degrease the flowerpot, then fix shells, pebbles and other design details using construction glue. Also, if desired, the pattern can be supplemented with a spectacular pattern applied with paints, or a mixture cement mortar with PVA. In this case, the mixture should turn out to be similar to thick sour cream. The resulting mixture is applied to the pot with a brush, excess solution is removed with a napkin.

The main background can be created using acrylic paints. For nautical style all shades of blue, light blue and turquoise are great.

Sand perfectly emphasizes the sea direction. Sand is best used sea or river. The design method looks like this: an adhesive mass is applied to the place outlined for the drawing, after which the pot is tilted and sprinkled with sand. The last stage of decoration is coating the surface with varnish, which will make the product more durable and give it a spectacular shine.

Textile design

A great idea for decorating flower pots is to decorate the pots with cloth. For this design, ceramic or plastic pots are best suited, because their surface will need to be rubbed with sandpaper for durability. After that, glue is applied to the entire surface of the pot and textiles are carefully wound from one edge along the entire length of the base. In this case, in order to avoid the formation of air bubbles, the fabric must be smoothed. Further, on both sides, it is necessary to make cuts in the shape of a triangle and finally fix the fabric.

Lace fabric... The most elegant option for decorating a container with flowers is lace decoration. You will also need glue to work, but in this case you will need to work more carefully, otherwise traces of glue will spoil the appearance. Lace can be used as an independent element or in combination with another fabric. You can drape the entire pot with lace, or simply decorate its edges.

Sackcloth... will complement a beautiful pot decorated with burlap. The design technique is similar to using any other fabric, but for a greater effect, such a flowerpot can be supplemented with bright buttons and artificial flowers.

Decorating with pieces of eggshell

A fairly simple way to decorate a flowerpot is to decorate it with pieces of eggshell. First, the base is prepared, for this, the exact place of the pot is covered with glue, where the shell will be fixed. It is also necessary to prepare the shell, for this the film is removed from it, the pieces are washed, dried and degreased.

Then the fragments are glued with the convex part outward. It is important to take into account that the pieces must be fixed tightly, but carefully, otherwise the loosely fixed fragments may fall off or break with strong pressure. You can correct the pattern with a toothpick.

Decoupage

Original decor flower pots, a master class of which can be easily found on the Internet is decoupage. The technique of this decoration is based on the use of paper pictures, colored paper, and napkins. This method is suitable for clay or plastic pots.

At the first stage, the flowerpot is cleaned, degreased, and primed, then covered with paint. Next, the desired pattern is cut out of paper or napkin and glued to the base of the pot, after which the pattern is supplemented with other decorative elements and varnished.

Ropes and strings

The interior of a classic, business style will become more colorful if it is supplemented with flower pots decorated with threads or strings. To do this, the container is lubricated with glue, and tied with threads, or ropes, while the threads should be located as tightly as possible together. If you wish, you can decorate the product with buttons, bows or beads.

Original design ideas

There are many interesting unusual ideas decorating flower pots that do not require a lot of time and money. The most original, of which are the decoration with inscriptions and drawings or with the help of cereals. This technique can be done with your child.

Drawing and inscription... This bright option is suitable for pottery, ceramic or plastic containers. The first step: the entire surface is painted with a brush, which should dry. Then the double-sided pattern is printed and cut out on photo paper. Then the drawing is glued. After everything is dry, you need to moisten the image with a sponge moistened with water. Now the paper is carefully rolled so that only the drawing remains on the pot. After that, the flowerpot is dried and varnished.

Cereals... Prepared dishes are covered with glue, on which a variety of cereals are attached. The flower pot will gain more original design, if with the help of cereals to depict on it a picture previously drawn on the product. When working with cereals, it is best to use grains with flat edges, such as peas or lentils.

Decorating is fun for the whole family. In order to create a real masterpiece with your own hands, you will need glue, decorative elements, imagination and a good mood.

After the winter cold, I want to revive my interior, add bright colors to it. The easiest way is to start doing this with little things, for example, with flower pots, painting and ennobling them. For painting standard clay pots Mineral or acrylic paints are suitable, and only acrylic paints for plastic ones. Sprays are commercially available that are suitable for all surfaces.

To paint classic clay pots, you need white paint, it is needed for the base, if you want to depict bright, contrasting drawings. You can buy a can of white paint at the hardware store and separately color schemes, thanks to which you will save money and create from them different colors at your own discretion. How to paint flower pot quick and easy? There are several techniques for painting a flower pot: using a template, or simply drawing colorful fantasy elements without a template, and the decoupage technique is also often used.

Templates can be bought in specialized flower shops or made on your own by printing your favorite drawing from a computer, transferring it to tracing paper (very thin transparent paper), and cutting out elements from it to make a stencil. Small and bright floral motifs, such as roses, will look good on a beige clay pot. Simple, a stencil can be made with scotch tape. Cover the pot with it and remove when the paint is dry. Get geometric shapes.

The "marine" theme is very popular in terms of decor. Paint bright blue and white stripes with acrylics. After they dry, glue on top blue beads, beads, decorative sand, pebbles, small shells painted white, and other medium-sized objects to match. Paint the seagulls with black paint or nail polish. These pots will suit any interior, refresh it.

How to color a flower pot correctly and without streaks? First, prepare the surface by removing dust and dirt with regular vinegar. If the pot is new, paint can be applied immediately. Sometimes a damaged pot requires a base, that is, PVA glue, which is diluted with water in a ½ ratio. Cover the surface of the vessel with it in a continuous layer. Now we need to make the background.

Do not forget that if the paint is acrylic, you do not need to cover the bottom with it so that the plant can breathe. After that, you can proceed to the next stage of work, that is, to paint the pot with contrasting colors. If you used acrylic paints, then after they dry, it is advisable to fill everything with acrylic varnish so that the drawings are not damaged.

To make the pots bright and nice looking you can use not only paints, but also different colorful patches, paper with interesting ornaments. From above they also need to be varnished. After work, if acrylic or water-based paints, brushes must be washed with soap, other types of paints are removed with acetone solvent.

At our houses, they do not always fit the interior of the room, but are often simply plain. Spring is coming and we want to transform our house, put things in order in all corners and come up with something new for comfort in our apartment. Why not start with flower pots, because they are always in sight - they stand on the windowsills or somewhere near the window. At the same time, we will transplant the plants tired during the long winter months into fresh soil and renewed pots. First you need to decide what we want to change in appearance their flower pots. Maybe we are tired of their dull brown or gray? Then everything is simple: take acrylic paints, a brush and change the color. Do not forget that before you start painting the pot, it must be well rinsed, dried and degreased (for this, wipe the pot with nail polish remover or alcohol with a cotton swab).

It is imperative to pay attention to what material the flower pot is made of. If it is plastic, then before painting the pot, prime the entire surface of the pot with PVA glue, let it dry, and then paint it in the desired color with acrylic paint. In addition to acrylic paints, you can use spray paints.

When the paint dries, if you don't get an even and beautiful layer, paint the pot again and let the paint dry well again. To fix the result, cover the pot with acrylic varnish. Only when the varnish is dry, start planting a flower in a pot.

As you can see in the photo above, the pots are not just painted with paint of the same tone, but they draw drawings that anyone who can at least hold a brush in their hands can easily draw. The advantage of coloring flower pots with your own hands is that you can come up with any drawing or pattern and try to bring it to life.

It is quite easy to decorate clay pots, especially those that are not covered with glaze. The surface of the pot is porous, so before painting, such a pot must also be primed with PVA glue. When the glue is dry, carefully paint the pot in two coats. When the paint dries, start drawing.

If you wish, you can decorate several flower pots in the same theme and transform any room in the house with their help. These are the pots that boys might like.

And girls may like pots of flowers, butterflies (dragonflies) or birds.

If your child already knows how to draw something, try painting flower pots together. You will surely have a useful and interesting time.

Children will surely be delighted with pots with eyes and noses. They can serve as containers for small toys.

For the kitchen, paint the flowerpot with flowers, berries, teapots or polka dots.

For the bedroom and living room, imagine and depict something that fits the interior of the room.

When inspiration comes, drawings are quickly invented and immediately brought to life.

Sometimes even the drawings on the pot seem small to us, but we want to add something else so that the flower pots or pot turns into something extraordinary. Then you need to look at home for what can be glued to the pot so that it stands out from a number of its fellows. It can be anything: beads, sequins, buttons, plastic and felt flowers and other small jewelry. You need to glue with super glue or glue from a gun.

In a similar way, you can transform your flower pot by completely pasting it with shells. Such a pot will support well marine theme in the room.

Planters and pots decorated with shells can decorate not only a room, but also a balcony, terrace or porch in a garden house.

If the pot has turned out well, you should not plant such a plant in it, which will cover the results of your labor with its leaves. Plant in it, for example, cacti that grow slowly and do not hang down.

A ceramic or plastic pot can be pasted over with pebbles. You can use super glue or glue from a special gun to attach the pebbles.

Simple plastic pots, after decorating with pebbles, are transformed beyond recognition.

Have you ever tried to use textured plaster for decorating pots? Try it. Get interesting results. Apply textured (embossed) plaster to the pot and use a comb or notched trowel to apply any pattern you can imagine to the wet plaster. It is important not to smudge the applied drawing, but to carefully dry the pot. In the future, the plaster does not crumble or peel off.

Another noteworthy way to decorate flower pots is by gluing pieces of tree branches. Take thin twigs of a tree (preferably not resinous species), garden clippers and prepare wooden "rounds". Begin to glue them to the pot with hot glue from the bottom and continue until the entire area is full. Alternate between small and large pieces of wood. When the glue is dry, cover the pot with acrylic varnish.

And if you don't feel like cutting branches with wire cutters, just put two rubber bands on the pot and gently push the equally cut branches under them around the entire pot. Then use twine to tie the twigs together.

These pots can be decorated with thin branches painted with silver or gold paint and natural or artificial berries.

Many ways to decorate pots have already been invented. Perhaps you will come up with something of your own. Here's another way I bring to your attention how you can decorate the pots with lace. Cut out pieces of lace and glue to the pot, which is primed with PVA glue. Next, the pot of lace needs to be painted.

To decorate the pot with twine, you need a reel of twine, PVA glue and a brush. Take a pot and coat the strip with PVA glue. Carefully begin winding the twine around the pot. Further, also to the very top of the pot: coat the strip with glue and wind the twine. Then let the pot dry. The twine can even be painted in any color with acrylic paint.

If you suddenly want flower pots to repeat the colors of curtains or curtains, then you need to take the fabric from which the curtains are sewn and make a pattern for the pot. To do this, on a clean sheet of paper, "roll" the pot from one edge to the other of the sheet and draw two rounded lines: along the upper and lower edges of the pot. Measure the circumference of the pot at the top and bottom, these dimensions should correspond to the lines you drew. Cut out a pattern and lay it on the fabric, securing it with needles. By the way, do not forget to leave extra 1 centimeter at the top and bottom on the pattern in order to be able to tuck the fabric. Glue the cut out fabric with PVA glue on the pot, decorate as you wish.

From unnecessary knitted things, sew these "suits" for your pots. They look fresh and beautiful in spring.

Perhaps you will like the pot just wrapped in burlap.

Pots in matting bags look great, somehow it immediately becomes homely cozy.

Everything that you read above makes sense to do with flower pots, if they are still intact, without cracks, and ceramic ones do not crumble or crumble. And if there is no point in transforming the old pots, then take them to the country house and make such a funny "potty" company out of them.

Good luck to all!

What and how you can make flower pots with your own hands, read

Cream No. 33 (Cream)

Green # 27 (LeafGreen)

Blue No. 15 (River Blue)

Glossy varnish Bosny No. 190 - optional

Old wallpaper or newspapers

1. Before painting, the pots must be washed, dried and, if necessary, degreased. If they are new, it will be enough just to wipe them with a damp cloth.

2. We put the first pot on the newspapers laid out in advance.

3. Apply Bosny # 1007 matt white paint as a primer. On this basis, the primary colors will be richer and brighter, moreover, it will fill the pores and significantly reduce paint consumption. dark color, you can also use Bosny primers gray # 68 or red-brown # 168.

4. After the priming layer has dried (after about 10-15 minutes), apply a thin layer of paint of the main color. We paint the entire outer surface of the pot, as well as the upper part of the inner surface (about 2-3 cm from the edge).

5. After 1-2 minutes apply the second layer. Apply even thinner coats of paint if necessary until the desired color saturation is achieved.

6. After the paint has dried (after about 10-15 minutes), you can apply an aerosol gloss varnish. This will make the surface shiny and protect it from dirt. Thanks to a layer of paint and varnish, the pots will be easy to clean and get a cleaner look.

7. Repeat the same procedure with all the other pots, alternately painting them in different colors.

ADDITION

On the side surface of the pot, after applying the paint (when it dries), you can use a stencil to apply some drawing or inscription in a contrasting color. And then open the entire surface with varnish.

ATTENTION:

1. It is necessary to paint at room temperature in a room with good ventilation.

2. Shake well before use.

3. The paint is applied from a distance of 20-25 cm.

4. After work, the can should be turned upside down and press the spray button until clean air comes out. After that, the can with the remaining paint can be stored until the next time - there will be no dried paint on the sprayer that would clog the spray valve and prevent reuse.

5. Although Bosny paint dries very quickly (from dust in 10-15 minutes), it is recommended to use painted objects not earlier than in a day, when the coating is completely dry.

Pots and pallets can be found easily at hardware stores. Unglazed products are best suited for the designs described in this book: they are made from a special clay and kiln fired to give them their characteristic terracotta color. Choose new, evenly colored pots with a uniform surface without defects. For painting ceramics, use acrylic paints (matte, metallic, glitter) or ordinary art in tubes (diluted with water before use). Neither one nor the other is waterproof, and therefore, if you are going to place the product on the street, be sure to cover it with acrylic varnish (produced in the form of aerosols), water-based or polyurethane-based. This will protect the surface from moisture and dirt. The pot enamelled for glass and ceramics and oven-fired can be washed. Refractory enamels of some trade marks dried without heat treatment.
The washout medium makes the colors more transparent, so that dark and light tones blend together to form streaks. The glazing medium creates the effect of a glassy coating.

Decoupage finishing glue is used for gluing paper applications and covering them with a protective layer. This product is not resistant to moisture and will not work for the pot you are going to put outside.
Paint brushes come in flat, oval and round, wide and narrow. A flute brush and liner brush may also come in handy. Experienced artists recommend using high quality tools, washing them thoroughly and taking care of them so that they last longer. When working with the stencil, use flat bristled brushes that allow the paint to be applied evenly. Sponge brushes with a width of 25 mm are convenient for applying base paint, glue, decoupage and crackle (creating a cracking effect). Sponge rollers are also convenient for painting pots. Varnish brushes are characterized by short bristles. Sponges are suitable for applying paint and creating a variety of textures. The pressed jaws can be cut into any shape with scissors and used as dies.

Completing of the work
1. Wash the pot with vinegar and water to completely remove dirt and grease. Scrub it with a brush if necessary. Let dry.
2. If you need to drill holes, use a carbide drill bit. Holes are made before painting,
as the pot may crack or break.
3. Transfer the drawing to the product. To do this, redraw the selected template (from a book or at your discretion) onto tracing paper. If necessary, enlarge or reduce it with a photocopier. Place the tracing paper with the image on the surface to be decorated, placing the copy paper under it with the ink layer down. Circle the lines of the drawing with a ballpoint pen.
4. Color the pot according to the sketch. After drying, apply varnish or other protective coating

Advice
Plants should not be planted directly in a painted pot. It is better that the flower is in a separate container. If you are going to put something wet in the decorated product, it is recommended to treat its inside with varnish for outdoor use; otherwise, liquid may seep through the pores of the ceramic and damage the pattern. When using such a product for serving a table or storing food, protect the latter from contact with the painted surface; if the pot is painted on the inside, place the food in glass containers or plastic bags beforehand.
