Choosing a lighter for survival in extreme conditions. Survival Bracelet, Flex Saw and Lighter Eternal Bullet: Hunting Kit

The lighter, which has already become familiar and common in everyday life, appeared a long time ago - in the first half of the 19th century. At first, it was a cumbersome, although effective in comparison with traditional means of making fire, device. In the future, the technologies for obtaining fire only improved and improved, and lighters became smaller and more convenient. A great impetus in the development of lighters was received during the First World War, and at the beginning of the twentieth century, their use became truly massive.

The production of lighters of the Japanese company has almost centenary history... Since its inception in October 1920, the company has set itself the goal of producing the world's most technologically advanced lighters. This path, which the Japanese adhere to to this day, has brought the company a whole lot of discoveries and inventions. The world's first rechargeable lighter, as well as one of the first mass-produced piezo lighters, were released under the Windmill brand. Windmill first equipped its lighters with a touch sensor and also developed the world's thinnest lighter with a thickness of only 5 mm. And today Windmill lighters continue to amaze the world: the latest original technological and design solutions traditionally collect numerous awards at various exhibitions.

Modern Windmill lighters have all the properties to become an indispensable tool for camping, fishing, hunting or just in difficult operating conditions. Windmill lighters have an impact-resistant body and can withstand repeated drops from a height of 5 meters to concrete slab... They are resistant to high and low temperatures (-50 ° C to + 60 ° C). Moisture resistance and tightness component parts allows Windmill lighters not to lose their functionality even after being in a water tank with a pressure of 10 atmospheres. Wind resistance is one of the main features of Windmill lighters. The flame of lighters does not extinguish even when exposed to an air flow at a speed of 20 m / s.

Many people believe that lighters are an invention. modern society, however, the principle of operation that underlies the operation of this device - flint, steel and fuel, are used in different cultures for many thousands of years.

Lighters are pretty simple. One of their positive qualities is the ability to produce fire with one hand, while spending minimal physical effort. Like all mechanical devices, a lighter can break or simply fail. And the more moving parts there are, the higher the chance of breakage. Even when the supply of fuel in the lighter runs out or leaks out, in the hands of an experienced person, sparks from under the ignition wheel can be used to ignite. Although this may not necessarily work with piezoelectric type lighters.

And while lighters are not entirely waterproof, spinning the wheel quickly over a flat, uneven surface will generate enough heat to dry out the parts and bring the lighter back to life. However, the gas lighter will not work if it freezes. We'll have to spend some time and energy to warm it up. It will be especially difficult to do this in severe frost.

The lighters on the market are different and have different properties. Gasoline Zippo lighters, IMCO, Bowers and the like are unusual and attractive, their main advantage is the automatic operation. By turning the wheel once and igniting the fuel, you can put the lighter on and it will continue to burn.

On the other hand, they are heavy, give off a strong odor and take up too much space. The biggest reason that makes it difficult to use gasoline lighters in an emergency is the need to fill them with liquid fuel. In hot desert conditions, a full gas lighter can completely evaporate fuel in just a few days. And even worse. In these lighters, the level of the remaining fuel supply is not visible. There are two ways to check if the lighter contains liquid fuel.

The first method involves trying a gasoline lighter empirically. It should catch fire at least on the third try. The second method is unique and applies only to gasoline lighters. If it smells, then there is fuel in it, but how much of it is unknown. If you do not have the opportunity to constantly monitor the presence of fuel in a gasoline lighter, then such an item has no place in the set (kit, stock, NAZ).

Branded gas lighters Bic, Cricket, etc. are pretty good quality products. How high quality a disposable item can be. But unfortunately, for the most part, they do not have a flame control option. In other words, you cannot make the lighter flame larger or smaller. Numerous Chinese-made gas lighters, which are sold in many stores right near the checkout, are much better suited for completing an emergency kit (kit, stock), and especially for a mini.

These lighters are usually flame-regulating and come in many different colors with transparent bodies. So you can see the amount of fuel remaining inside. Wrap bright colored duct tape or scotch tape around the body of the gas lighter to increase visibility, especially at dusk and dark, but leave the top and bottom unsealed so that you can control the gas level inside.

Don't assume that you can tell how much gas is left in the lighter by simply shaking it and listening to the sounds it makes. Before every hike or trip, in addition to visually checking the fuel level in the gas lighter, be sure to check its performance. Even in arid climates, the top metal part of a gas lighter corrodes, and since we are dealing with a mechanical object, there is no need to risk it.

If you live in an area with high level humidity, you will likely need to replace the lighters in your survival kit quite often. And while your gas lighter may look like new, it's best to replace it with a fresh one after a couple of years of storage. Gas lighters are readily available, cheap, lightweight, compact and easy to use. While not a panacea for all problems, they provide us with a fairly reliable way to immediately get fire, but like all things, they must be used with care and with the due degree of common sense.

A practical gift set could be called a travel kit, for example. Because both the traveler and the hunter are on almost equal terms - amid a large amount of greenery and all sorts of dangers. No one will say in advance what might happen. Therefore, each of us should prepare well for any kind of hike. Just for this occasion, we have assembled this set.

A hunting set is useful for any person.

The kit consists of three elements: flexible saw, bullet lighter and survival bracelet. The saw string looks like a regular chain with two rings. In fact, it is very sharp and quite capable of replacing the classic saw. The line saw will help you cut both a log and a full-fledged tree. You just need to put it in a special box, otherwise you can accidentally get hurt. Bullet lighter resembles an eternal match for a reason. It is worth filling it with refined gasoline once, as it can help you out about 10 thousand times. The main thing is not to forget about refueling ...

A paracord bracelet can help fix a backpack strap, hang a heavy load from trees, and even stop bleeding. The fact is that climbing equipment is made of paracord, such a rope will not fail. You can undo and weave the bracelet many times, the material will not deteriorate from this. In general, a hunting set can be bought as a gift for any extreme and lover of useful gifts. It's so nice to know when gifts are chosen with care.

There are people who doubt the effectiveness and profitability of flint. For them, I bring my vision of the situation, referring to survival and fire (as its primary element)

Flint

1. How many teals does the flint have? on different sites, they write from 5,000 to 50,000. Let's take the average value, 20 thousand.

Bottom line: if you spend 20 teals on one fire, we get 1000 fires. Considering that with each fire, the dexterity of handling increases significantly, there are many more than 1000 real fires!

2. Fire does not deteriorate, does not get wet, does not catch fire by itself (not flammable), no storage conditions are needed. Also, the temperature of sparks does not change even in the most severe frost.

Matches.

1. There are 45 matches in a box. Even if two matches - one bonfire, boxes = 22.5 bonfires. That is an obvious exaggeration, it is real only if gasoline is fired. Well, yes, even if there are 23 bonfires, it's not a pity. This means that for 1000 fires, 43 boxes are needed.

2. Matches deteriorate, are afraid of water, break, and are inconvenient in storage and transportation. For survival - not very convenient. But they are cheap.

Lighters.

1. There is enough silicon in the lighter for 300 teals. Gas usually runs out much faster. Let's take the average: 2 teal = 1 bonfire. The total is 150 bonfires. 1000 bonfires are more than 6 lighters.

2. The lighter is capricious, it cannot be overheated, soaked, left in the sun or warm, it is afraid of the cold, and in the cold it can let the survivalist down.

Outcome

Precisely for survival, as a spare, almost eternal, reliable and reliable source of fire - there is nothing better than flint in the world, and it is unlikely to appear. If you go on a difficult hike, and without flint, then you are a desperate or stupid guy. Matches and a lighter, of course, should be at hand, and are stored in huge stocks in a byz, cache, at home. But on a hike or a sharp dismount - the flint must be sewn into the panties! (IMHO) :)

I will also say that I am an old tourist, I owned the first flint-bar in Russia, from the Expedition. Taking advantage of the monopoly, these bastards pushed them somewhere around 80 bucks for the thinnest. I don’t remember exactly, but for one flint from the Expedition, you could buy a trunk of matches! It could be bought either by an insane marginal, or by a paranoid survivalist like me.

Now, thanks to Vyzhivay.rf and the like, as well as all sorts of ebey, the cost of a flint relative to a fire is close to the cost of matches and lighters.

To summarize. There are a lot of show-offs on the net about the shitty of Chinese fires, regarding any Swedish and American rods made to an excellent standard. They are softer, chips during teal are much thicker, more sparks than flint from China.

I am an ardent opponent of these show-off! Chinese flint is much more economical and cheaper. Its teals, although fainter, produce 3-5 times more teals!

Better to get used to the ability to ignite than to shred a valuable flint for extra sparks.

Yes, I am also against the method of shaving off flint shavings, followed by igniting a slide of these shavings. For the same reason - cost overruns and anti-economy. Better to kill one core per workout.

Thank you for the opportunity to express your opinion.

Flint test and video instruction:

Big fire, 7.5cm ∅ 8mm "Survive" 330 rub.

Someone somewhere said that Chinese fires are bad ... 10 seconds, without any paper or cotton wool, and the fire is ready. Hands - not hooks, or good flint? ;)

Large marching flint. Whistle, compass, armchair, adjustable cord. Has no expiration date, maximum reliability. Fire must be in every NAZ! Elongated thick rod, the simplest design.

Hello dear readers :)
For a long time I wear gasoline, everything in it is good except for the size, like a fire backup is normal, but as a matter of fact, even in the forest, it is not very comfortable, I generally keep quiet about smokers.
In short, the piece is convenient, but not as reliable as a capsule, and requires peeling.

Do you know what are the advantages of such lighters? Work at negative temperatures without any preparation, we love refueling with fuel (from acetone to kerosene), simple construction, practically indestructible (the body is metal, though it could be thicker, and as a result, the weight would be more)

I received two capsules in a pretty blister.
WITH back side there is a blister

instruction in chinese

For comparison, I put a capsule, it is similar in size, but how usability differs, you can see in the photo, the metal is painted and covered with a nasty, shiny varnish.

Diameter 1.2cm. We will disassemble the black one, under the lid on the thread, a standard time-tested scheme, a crème, a wick wheel, a thread and a gasket from a new one (though not everything is in order with it)

Internals, with extracted cotton wool

Here is the main plus and minus: a plastic plug, with a very weak thread, and a dermantine strap for which it is convenient to hold

Please note the difference in size:

Holding the capsule in the hand and overlooking the sky and the earth, we thread the little finger into the lanyard, and we get a very convenient device, the ribbed cap allows you to unscrew it with one hand.

Pros over capsule:
Greater liquid volume with similar sizes.
Very comfortable in the hand, one-handed ignition.

Minuses:
Plastic plug with plastic soft thread.
From the store, gasoline only holds for 4 months (the capsule lies for a year), this is caused by a thin elastic band under the top cover, when screwing it up, it is not felt, if replaced I think it will hold like a capsule.

Recommendations:
With the aim of enlargement service life from one charge, it is better to replace cotton wool with cotton wool from a female tampon. gasoline holds 2 times more, burns many times longer than ordinary cotton wool
If badly ignited, change flint and (or) gasoline.
Lubricate the thread to avoid abrasion and prolongation. service life
If burns badly, most likely the wick is pinched, poke a needle into the place where the wick exits from the body.
Wick must necessarily reach the bottom.
Like everyone else gasoline lighters, shouldn't be allowed long heating of the wheel, that is, in Russian: it is impossible to keep it lit for a long time, the metal of the wheel is "released" it loses its rigidity, after the vacation, it will cease to normally knock out sparks.
