For one reason or another, many car owners believe that their car simply needs glass tinted, how to do it yourself is described. However, not everyone has a certain amount funds for the purchase of factory tinting. What to do then? Make a removable tinting with your own hands. After all, the technology of its production is not so tricky so as not to figure it out on your own (although the work is rather painstaking and not the easiest, so it is better to have an assistant in this matter). And if the desire to tint the glass and at the same time be able to dismantle the tint so as not to attract problems with traffic police is very great, then you have definitely come to the right place.

So, you will need:

  • polyester sheet 0.5 mm thick;
  • tint film;
  • knife + replaceable blades for it;
  • pencil or other marking tool;
  • metal scissors or those that can create a lot of pressure;
  • forcing to smooth the film;
  • spray;
  • a flat and clean surface (you can use thick glass on the table) to apply the film to the plastic.

When everything is prepared, you can get to work.

Do-it-yourself step-by-step instructions for installing removable tinting.

1. The first step is to remove the mold from the glass. To do this, disassemble the doors and dismantle the glass. For the pattern, you can use tracing paper. Attach it with double-sided tape to the glass, and then trace the outline along the sealing elastic bands. Next, cut out the template along the marked line.

2. The next step will be work on the manufacture of a template and blanks. You need to transfer the removed piece to a sheet of, for example, Whatman paper or other thick paper and adjust the resulting dense piece to the exact dimensions of the glass by inserting the cut paper between the glass and the seals in the cabin.

3. Having achieved perfect accuracy, cut out the workpieces from plastic using metal scissors, according to the pattern made. Sand or sand the imperfect edges.

4. Apply tinting to the resulting blanks. Cut out three contours of the plastic blanks from the tint film (in case one of them is damaged). Peel off the protective layer on one side of the polyester and allow a little time until the static effect disappears so that the film does not bubble.

5. After 15 minutes, using a spray bottle, moisten the surface of the workpiece with soapy water. Do the same with the tinting film, removing the protective layer from it. Next, attach the tint film to the workpiece and smooth it over the surface using forcing. While leveling, constantly wet the film surface. Then, using a knife (passing it clearly along the edge of the plastic), cut off the remnants of the film along the contour. Apply the tinting film to all workpieces in the same way. Dry the finished products for 2 hours. When the first side is dry, repeat the same procedure on the back.

6. Achieve the required level of light transmission when choosing a film for tinting. Keep in mind that if you apply 35% light transmittance on both sides, you will get 15-18 percent light transmittance. And further. Leave the removable tinting for a few days before use in order for the film to adhere as tightly as possible. Otherwise, the service life of the tinting will be significantly reduced.

During the exercise in the bathroom, the question often arises: how to make it both beautiful and functional at the same time. Everything is clear with beauty, it's better ceramic tiles nothing has been invented for the bathroom and toilet yet. The tile has durability, water resistance, excellent sanitary and hygienic qualities. Thanks to numerous manufacturers, there is a huge variety in the choice of color, size and shape of tiles. But in addition to being just a beautiful room, the bathroom also performs technical functions, and any equipment requires regular maintenance... This raises the question of how to make access to pipes and plumbing communications convenient and beautiful at the same time. Often times, people sacrifice convenience for beauty. For example, they tightly seal the wall under the bathroom, leaving, at best, a small window opposite the siphon. As a result, any malfunction or clogging of the drain threatens with a new overhaul. The plumber may simply not be able to fix anything through the little window. You can see how we make a bathroom screen from tiles. All of the above also applies to the back wall behind the toilet in a toilet or a combined bathroom. You can look down through a door or hatch, but nothing can be done. Any malfunction threatens with the prospect of dismantling or destruction of the interfering structure. Finding the same tiles for restoration will be very difficult. So during the overhaul of the bathroom, it is better to take care of ensuring easy and painless access to the pipes in advance. To save general form and the style of the room, we will only consider methods using ceramic tiles:

  • Make an opening door or hatch.
  • Make an easily removable panel.
  • A combination of these methods. As in our example, there is a door on top for frequent opening, on the bottom there is a panel in case of an accident.

Tiles provide excellent access to communications and at the same time look very attractive, without disturbing the design of the bathroom. But they are quite difficult to manufacture. The tiles are very heavy and the maximum door dimensions are limited. Much easier to do removable panel from tiles. If access to pipes is not needed often, only in the event of an accident, then this the best option... Removable panel can be made big size, because it will not be removed often, but only as a last resort. At cost, it also comes out almost for nothing, the panel can be made from ordinary, or better moisture-resistant drywall or gypsum plasterboard. This good should be enough during the overhaul. We will make the removable panel behind the toilet easily removable, but it will look like a monolithic wall made of tiles.

How and what to make a removable panel.

It is best to make the base of the panel from gypsum fiber board, as it holds its shape better. If the size of the panel is not very large, then it can be made of green, moisture-resistant drywall. To prevent the panel from deforming during operation, several reinforcing guides can be screwed to the sheet from the inside of the sheet. To begin with, we cut out a workpiece suitable in size from drywall. It should easily, without clamping and skewing, be installed in its place. We cut out all the necessary holes for pipes at once with some margin. Now you need to fix the panel so that it holds well in place and can be easily removed if necessary. To do this, screw the sections of the PP27x28 drywall guides to our sheet with self-tapping screws according to the diagram below. We also attach the counterparts to the floor. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that during installation, the lower guide panels are put on those that are attached to the floor and catch on them, preventing the panels from falling out from below. You can bend them slightly for adjustment. Then the upper part is pushed forward and fixed with long self-tapping screws through the main wall frame guide, or the hatch frame. The removal procedure is the same in the reverse order: we unscrew the long fixing screws, push the top of the panel towards ourselves and move the lower guides out of engagement with an upward movement.

Scheme for the manufacture of a removable tile panel.

Only after we have made sure that our panel can be easily and freely installed and removed, can we cover it with tiles. We recommend using liquid nails or other plastic glue as glue to make the structure strong and light. Leave the gaps a little wider at the edges of the panel. tile joint... They can then be covered with a rubber seal or repaired for tiles if the panel is only to be removed as a last resort.

The photo below shows a few more removable tile panels in combination with an aluminum hatch for access to pipes.

Removable tile top and bottom panels.

The idea of a lower removable panel for access to pipes was so loved by everyone that it was further developed in the form of a removable upper panel. Usually, access to the top of the risers is not required, but there are still times when it is needed. For example, it may happen that the house will still be held overhaul and the old pipes of the risers will be replaced with new ones, then you will be asked to provide free access to the risers. With removable panels, this is easy to do and you don't have to destroy or alter anything. This design provides the most complete access to pipes for repair and maintenance. Below are some examples from our practice. Removable top and bottom tile panels in combined and separate bathrooms.

Many drivers are struggling with the dilemma - to install the tint and squeeze their heads into their shoulders at the sight of each patrol post, or to leave the windows intact and at the same time endure the sunlight hitting their eyes and the curious glances of passers-by? To solve this problem in one fell swoop will help useful invention, which is called a new generation of removable tinting. And this is not in vain, because it not only masks the insides of the cabin, but will also be available for dismantling at any convenient moment. Well, the decisive argument can be called the fact that in our time it is quite possible to make a removable tinting with your own hands.

In order to understand the manufacturing principle, you first need to determine what exactly such a film is. So, reusable removable tinting is a sheet of translucent material that is cut to the shape of the glass, on which it will be glued. In order to attach such a tinting to the surface, most of the soap solution is used in a spray bottle. When the product is on the glass and is well leveled, the water dries up and then the film is held due to static. That is why you can attach and remove the new generation of removable tinting at any time.

Thanks to the functional features of such a product, you get many advantages:

  • The film prevents up to 70% of the sun's rays from entering the interior. This is doubly necessary, since in addition to the fact that the light prevents the driver from following the road, in hot weather the interior very often overheats, as a result of which the upholstery burns out, and the temperature inside the dashboard rises significantly. Plain sheeting will help protect your interior from all of these harmful effects.
  • Removable tinting does not create a mirror effect and does not let prying eyes inside the cabin. In addition, in the presence of such a film, it becomes much more difficult to break the glass, since it holds it to some extent. The same applies to accidents - if the window is broken, the fragments will not fall on the passengers only due to the available tinting.
  • If you are afraid that burglars will be attracted by things left in the car or an expensive audio system, with the tape you will be much calmer, because it will reliably hide the contents of the car.

On the other hand, some types of toning have a detrimental effect on visibility from the inside, making the glass cloudy and the image blurry. This effect can be observed in the first days of the film's operation, or it can remain throughout the entire period of its use.

But this is the smallest of evils, because a well-chosen product will not create such problems. And in order to provide really high-quality toning for your car, you need to know which materials are the most optimal in our case.

A wide variety of polymer materials are used for production. However, from the list of those that can be obtained for making with your own hands, there are only a few types of products.

One of the most popular and demanded is the material with the complex name polyethylene terephthalate. In “everyday life” it is also called verolite, in its simplest and abbreviated name it is PET. According to reviews, removable PET tinting is characterized by good adhesion (adhesion) and a wide working range. The whole problem is that it is not so easy to get such high-quality material, since it is used only in industry and is sold in huge volumes, which it makes no sense to buy if you just decided to make a removable tinting on the forehead.

That is why enterprising car enthusiasts go the other way and buy A-PET, which is made in China. As a rule, Chinese products are not of high quality and this case is no exception. Worker temperature regime such material is limited, and the period of use is not too long. To understand better what the problem is, you just need to know that A-PET is used to make standard plastic bottles, only flat sheets are used for machines. You can buy such raw materials in the printing industry or an advertising agency, while even the largest sheet will cost you quite inexpensively.

In addition to PET, Plexiglas and other available materials, such as ASWF or D-C-FIX films, are used for home production of reusable removable tinting. However, the resulting properties and disadvantages are always about the same. Some quick-release tinting for cars is attached only with water, for others you need to use a soapy solution. There are some that can break during the first removal, but these are products of the worst quality. In order to avoid the last troubles, it is better to use a hard removable tinting.

Another fairly common option is car window tinting made of silicone. The special charm of such a film is that a wide variety of toning shades are available for sale. Thus, we observe quite big choice bases for materials with which you can make a removable tinting with your own hands. And if you have decided, then it's time to study the process itself.

How to make it yourself

Making a decent removable car window tint at home is pretty easy.

  • To do this, you first need to find a template that would fit both the front removable tinting and the side windows.
  • Then you need to transfer this form to the rough material and only then to PET. Even the toughest removable tinting should not have a thickness of more than 0.75 millimeters, otherwise it will provoke constant difficulties in its installation.
  • If you have not found a decent template for removable tinting, the video will help you make one using the car glass directly. You can remove the seal and attach a draft from the outside, or you can dismantle the glass itself and circle it on the floor. The first option is undoubtedly easier.
  • After the rough template is ready, you need to try it on to the glass one more time, and if everything fits in the shape, then you can transfer the shape to the film.
  • Next, you need to get rid of the special protective layer on the sheet and tint the glass in the most usual way - that is, using a soap solution. This process is quite simple: first, the glass is thoroughly cleaned using standard household chemicals, wiped dry, and then a soap solution is applied to its surface. For this we need a spray bottle with a fine spray. When the surface is finished, you can attach the film.

It must be carefully leveled using a soft rubber trowel. When the product is dry, the reusable removable tinting will be ready for use. Of course, a similar procedure will have to be done every time after dismantling the film, however, in its simplicity and low cost, the new generation of removable tinting cannot be compared with anything.

It can be concluded that the purchase of such a simple product as reusable tinting film can greatly simplify the life of the driver. In addition, if you know how to make removable tinting with your own hands, then you no longer have to spend money on the services of professionals.
