Garden cart with motor. Homemade garden cart: process details

A unique novelty of the year, the Greenworks 40V G40GC self-propelled battery garden cart, has finally arrived in our brand stores! Let's see what kind of beast it is and why is it needed?

At the present time, the market for garden equipment is undergoing fundamental changes, and people are increasingly thinking about ecology, convenience and maximum mechanization of garden tools. More recently, battery technology was considered something unusual and little-known, expensive and not reliable. Now, don't surprise anyone with a cordless chain saw or, say, a lawn mower. But today we are ready to present you an amazing thing - a garden wheelbarrow with an electric motor, which runs on a 40V battery from the GreenWorks series.

You ask: "Why use it?" The answer is simple: “For the same thing as an ordinary garden wheelbarrow: transporting goods, soil, sand, crops and other garden goods. And this wheelbarrow is also suitable for construction needs. The only difference is that you do not have to lift and push it all thanks to the installed electric motor with front two-wheel drive, and the dump function will help you to easily dump everything from the body quickly and easily. It is important to note that there is also a support wheel at the back, which will prevent the cart from overturning.

The trolley has impressive features:

  1. Large body (trough): 106 liters,
  2. Material: shockproof plastic;
  3. Carrying capacity: 100 kg, with lifting mechanism and gas stop;
  4. Long battery life: up to 40 min from 4 Ah battery.

A body made of impact-resistant plastic is needed to reduce the weight of the structure, and, accordingly, to reduce the consumption of battery power in motion and, as a result, to increase the operating time. To unload sand or soil, it is not gentle to overturn the whole wheelbarrow, the body is equipped with a lifting mechanism, a gas stop and works on the principle of a dump truck.

A lifting capacity of 100 kg is more than enough for most tasks. The trolley will always be in balance, as it has two large wheels and is stable even on soft ground. A special support wheel with a parking brake is provided. Therefore, you should not worry about spontaneous rolling on uneven areas.

Battery life is an important parameter, you must agree. Forty minutes of continuous battery life means about 3 km of travel at maximum speed. If we take into account the average area of summer cottages, then we can safely say that 3 km is even more than necessary.

But that's not all the benefits. The main thing is that this model is very easy to operate and use, and since it is equipped with an electric motor, you do not have to worry about maintenance and replacement of consumables (oil, candles, filters), start or prepare a fuel mixture. The trolley does not exhaust harmful gases with an unpleasant odor and does not harm the environment at all. Another plus is completely silent operation. And for example, if your young children need to sleep during the day, then you can safely continue your gardening work without worrying about noise.

For an example of her work, you can see this video:

This device is turned on with a simple turn of the key - almost like a real car. The speeds are switched with a special lever and attention: there is a reverse, that is, the car goes both forward and backward. She will become an indispensable assistant for the fairer sex or elderly people who are not always able to cope with a heavy load.

Recall that the self-propelled cart is part of the Greenworks 40V device line, which will allow you to save on the purchase of batteries and chargers if you have previously purchased equipment from this series.

DO-HAND BUCKET TROLLEY

MODERN GARDEN CARTRIDGES ARE GOOD, BUT HAVE SOME DISADVANTAGES - BECAUSE OF THE HIGHLY LOCATED BODY, THEY ARE UNCONVENIENT TO LOAD, THEY ARE UNSTABLE. THEREFORE, I DID NOT SPEND ON THE PURCHASE OF STORE OPTIONS, BUT I MAKE IT ON YOURSELF.

It took: a trolley frame for transporting hand luggage sheet aluminum 3 mm thick four duralumin corners 25 × 25 mm screws with M4 nuts.

I removed the old paint from the surface of the frame and went over all the details with sandpaper. Replaced "native" wheels with more durable ones. The frame was primed and painted (photo 1).

From an aluminum sheet, I cut two triangular parts with an angle at the apex of 110 degrees. The length of the side faces can be any, in my case - 70 cm. From the same material I cut out two rectangular parts 70 cm long and a width equal to the distance between the wheels on the trolley.

On the side faces of triangular parts and long rectangular faces, stepping back 1 cm from the edge, drilled the same number of holes at a distance of 5 cm from each other.

I drilled similar holes at the same level in the shelves of duralumin corners. Fixing metal parts together with screws and nuts. assembled a "bucket body" (photo 2)

Bolted the body to the frame.

In order for the load to be in the cart, it is not necessary to lift it, it is enough just to overturn the body and move the wheelbarrow close to it, then roll the load. To unload, you need to follow the same steps, but in the reverse order (photo 3)

Another feature of such a trolley is that the cargo on it can be delivered inside any country house by going up the steps.

CAR WITH A MOTOR OWN HANDS

During the arrangement of the site, it was necessary to transport a lot of sand and gravel. For this I converted my snow blower into a self-propelled cart. It turned out to be a rather convenient structure that helped me out throughout the entire construction period.

Disconnected the snow thrower with auger from the engine block with the chassis.

From a metal profile pipe with a cross section of 20 × 40 mm, I welded a rectangular frame with a size of 450 × 600 mm. I attached wheels d 250 mm to one side of it in the corners, and to the opposite side I welded plates with holes (photo 1) for attachment to the chassis of the snow blower.

Bolted the bogie frame to the undercarriage of the unit.

From plywood 10 mm thick I made a bunker (photo 2) 90 cm long and 70 cm wide in the upper part. I connected the plywood sheets to each other with plastic corners and self-tapping screws.

To attach the plywood "body" to the front of the frame, I welded door hinges (see photo 1). it turned out to be a small dump truck.

The self-propelled cart turned out to be very convenient and in demand on the farm and liked my wife, who helped me in everything.

If the farm does not have a snow blower, a walk-behind tractor can replace it.

“I received two degrees - both as a mechanic and as a technologist in mechanical engineering. I love coming up with new projects and innovative solutions for any problems I face or projects that have been abandoned because they are deadlocked. Rather than just doing something that will work, I prefer to do something that works better than anyone expected. Here's what I came up with when my last thought hit me: an electric construction wheelbarrow. This project began as a backyard assistant, but beta testing has shown the amazing versatility of this mechanism. This wheelbarrow can help many people in a variety of conditions: my wife ran 4m of mud and 4m to the top of a hill in the mud at the end of winter in Oregon. According to her, "There was no other way to go this way without such a wheelbarrow. Everyone needs one of them." I see this will allow our older generation of the population to continue to do complex projects in the yard and beyond. I see the use of this wheelbarrow for contractors, beach goers, pit racing, and many other areas of construction as well. My car will go uphill, through mud, gravel, sand, in clouds of dust, overcome small obstacles on the ground, without much effort on the part of the user.

With the prize money, I'll buy enough component parts to build 50 wheelbarrows as the first batch of goods. These 50 units will be enough for me for my cars to be certified and to promote them to the construction market. I will use the remaining money to promote my brand through marketing. I also work for the site from which cars will eventually be sold www.deadnutsdesignco.com "

A no less incredible project is the connection of a bicycle and an electric drill - however, this is also being done now.

A great assistant in the yard of a private house, in the garden or in the garden - a self-propelled cart will eliminate the need to carry heavy loads or push a wheelbarrow with loads. She will do everything herself, the operator will only have to direct this convenient "vehicle", switch speeds and load it with work.

Today, agricultural machinery manufacturers create devices that make it as easy as possible to work on the land, and the self-propelled garden cart is one of these helpers. Its mechanism and principle of operation are quite simple, so they are often bought as a gift for elderly parents so that they can effortlessly transport various items and goods on the territory of their favorite summer cottage.

What a self-propelled cart is capable of

The range of transported goods is quite wide. The cart can be used to move seedlings, gravel, sand, fertilizers, bricks, firewood, etc. The presented models have front and rear speeds (from 2 or more), so it is very convenient to maneuver around the site with it. Sometimes a self-propelled garden cart is used to clear snow if the model has the ability to attach attachments. This mini technique has many advantages:

  • Quiet operating mode.
  • The ability to carry loads from 90 to 500 kg.
  • Easy management.
  • Low-radius reversal.
  • Reverse.
  • High maneuverability.
  • Climbing the hill at an angle of 30-35 degrees.
  • Work on uneven ground.

What are the features of self-propelled carts

The engine, which is part of the structure, can be electric and powered by 1 or 2 batteries, as well as gasoline. Battery life varies from model to model. The ergonomic self-propelled cart is equipped with a platform on which you can transport various items, a removable trough for loose or small fractions. The sides of the platform can be extended to create a small makeshift body.

In our store you can buy wheeled and caterpillar trolleys. The latter are perfect for uneven terrain. If you need just such a self-propelled cart, it will not be difficult to buy it. We offer products from the best brands. Sometimes the design provides for a device for lifting objects from the ground. In this case, the transportation of cargo will be practically automated.

It should be noted that the unit is highly maneuverable. The angle at which the turn is made is small for the crane. The device does not need room for maneuver. For unloading cargo, the self-propelled carts are equipped with a linkage mechanism. The lifting angle of the trough when pouring out is 45-60 degrees. This is enough to completely spill the contents onto the ground. Each model has a parking brake that keeps the wheels stationary when stopped.

Buy a self-propelled cart of excellent quality

In our store, there are models of American and European brands with a high reputation. Abroad, the practice of modernizing agricultural work is widely used and is constantly being improved. Now the Russians can turn the work on their site from hard labor into pleasure. If you need a high-quality self-propelled trolley, it is better to buy imported models, since foreigners know a lot about this. This product has a long warranty period. If you follow the rules of the instructions, such a technique can last for many years. Buy a self-propelled cart for your site or as a gift to your parents, and appreciate today's opportunities for technical progress.

Any gardener needs to use soil and plant tools - and the lighter it is, the easier it is to work with. Therefore, most summer residents, perhaps, would not refuse even such a device as a garden cart with a motor.

In any case, it is very difficult to do without a wheelbarrow, because with its help you can perform all the transportation work and its body will hold much more than a bucket, and it is easier to roll (push) the container than to carry it in your hands. Let's see what we can do on our own, as well as to your attention - the video in this article, which will reveal the nuances of this topic.

A wheelbarrow for a summer residence

What are they

  • It does not matter at all whether the wheelbarrow is bought in a store or it will be a do-it-yourself decorative garden cart, first of all you need to pay attention to the chassis, since your labor costs depend on this. If you see small wheels on the undercarriage, then with such a wheelbarrow it is good to transport goods only on a flat and solid surface (asphalt, concrete, boardwalk), since they do not overcome obstacles well. If there are two, three or four wheels, this means stability, moreover, they will not sink into the ground as one, but a structure with one wheel can be transported along a narrow crossing over the moat.

  • If you need to transport heavy loads, then it is definitely better to opt for a two-wheeled cart.(three or four wheels) - they, of course, have a higher price, but they have the stability you need. To move such transport, handles are used, which can be longitudinal (2 pieces) or transverse, in the form of the letter P, but this does not affect the ease of maintenance. If we talk about the body, then it is most often made of steel, but since you like metal more, it is better to stop at aluminum - it is much lighter, and it is not necessary to paint it, since it is not susceptible to rusting.
  • The cost, as already noted, depends on the number of wheels, but the size of the body and the material from which it is made also affects the financial side of the issue.... So, if the capacity does not exceed 80 liters, and the chassis is with one wheel with a diameter of 30 cm, then, most likely, you can keep within 1300-1500 rubles. But if you need more wheels and a larger body size, then most likely you will have to shell out about 3000 rubles or even more.

We do it ourselves

Note. It is best to start making a homemade wheelbarrow from the chassis - it is much easier to adjust the dimensions of the body, unless, of course, you already have it ready or you do not make it from any container, for example, from a trough.
This, of course, is not an installation manual, but just good advice to the gardener, who, in terms of the size and power of the bed, will find it much easier to choose the volume of the body.

For the undercarriage, choose wheels with a diameter of at least 30 cm and it is best if the hub is there with a bearing into which you can insert the axle. But you do not have to select the entire axis according to the diameter of the bushing - for this, it is enough to weld fittings of the required diameter onto the pipe, which will fit tightly into the bearing.

In addition, it is best to choose wheels with inflatable slopes - this will greatly facilitate the movement of the trolley, so the elastic deforming tire will dramatically reduce the resistance to drops on the terrain of the site.

The entire frame is also best assembled from pipes (you can use electrowelded ones - the strength of hot-deformed ones is not necessary here) with a diameter of 32-40 mm. If you take a smaller section, then for heavy loads this may not be enough, and a larger section will increase the weight of the structure, and too thick handles are also not very comfortable.

We continue to consider one of the ways how to make a garden cart with our own hands and move on to assembling a body, which can be made either from OSB (OSB) or from galvanized sheet steel. We will still focus on the second option, as it is more reliable and durable.

For this, a sheet with a thickness of 1 mm is perfect, and if you take one piece (1250 × 2500 mm), then this will be quite enough for what was intended. First of all, you need to determine the size of the bottom, and then cut the sides from it.

There is one nuance here - you do not need to cut 5 pieces at all, you can simply draw out the sheet according to the required dimensions and cut triangles at the four corners with a grinder. Then you fold the cut sheet and weld the joints with electric welding. In order not to make a mistake in the calculations, it is best for you to glue several newspapers with clerical glue and make a pattern from them that can be put on metal and outlined with a marker.
