Where to get candle wax. Making candles from natural wax

Cute "edible" candles made from natural beeswax will become a decoration of any lunch or dinner - delicious sushi rolls and homemade jam in jars will not leave anyone indifferent. Make them yourself with this tutorial.

Sushi Roll Beeswax Candles

To make them, you will need:

  • colored beeswax plates (white, yellow, light pink, dark pink, green, red);
  • measuring tape;
  • wick;
  • hair dryer

The candles will be in the form of California rolls and tuna rolls.

To make California:

Step 1. Crab meat

The first ingredient in California. To make an imitation of it, use a knife to cut into thin vertical strips 2.5 cm long strips of wax (4 light pink and 1 dark pink).

Then knead them with your fingers and mold 4 cylinders.

Step 2. Avocado (or cucumber)

Second ingredient. Take 4 white strips of wax and 4 green strips, also 2.5 cm wide.

Blow-dry the wax at maximum heat to soften it and roll the strips tightly.

Cut the resulting cylinders in half and join them together so that one half is white and the other half green. These elements should be teardrop-shaped - change it with your fingers, if necessary, use the hair dryer again.

Step 3. Rice and seaweed

Take four white and green wax strips.

Combine "crab meat" and "avocado" together (remember about the hair dryer), do not forget to place a piece of the wick between them - it should stick out at least 2 cm.

Wrap them in a green strip of wax first and then in a white one, securing the beginning of the white one just below the end of the green one. This place needs to be treated with a hairdryer so that the candle does not unwind.

California is ready.

To make tuna rolls:

These are very simple rolls - originally they consist of a piece of tuna, rice and seaweed. Take red, white and green wax strips.

Use a hairdryer if the wax degrades.

Now trim the wick a little and place the candles in a rectangular stand. They look very good in a stand for real sushi and rolls, but in this case, take it from ceramics - putting burning candles on a wooden surface can be dangerous.

Molten beeswax candles in jars

These candles are like jam or honey in jars. In order to make them, you will need:

  • 680 g. Beeswax (processed);
  • 140 g of coconut oil;
  • 50 cm cotton wick;
  • weight for the wick (optional, but it is convenient - it keeps the wick in one place when the candle burns out to the bottom);
  • jars for candles (if you take them 340 g each, as here, then there is enough material for 4 jars);
  • thermometer and 4 pencils, scissors.

Step 1. Prepare the wick

Tie the wick to the pencils to be placed on top of the jar. The wick cut should be 2.5 cm longer than the height of the can. You can attach a weight to the other end if you like.

Step 2. Mix the wax

Melt the wax with coconut oil, mix thoroughly.

Step 3. Fill

Pour the wax into each jar while holding the pencil and cut off the excess wick afterwards.

Step 4. Leave to harden

In order to harden well, candles of this size need about 1 day. When these days have passed, carefully use scissors to pull out the end of the wick, which is buried in the wax - it will be covered with a layer of wax, which makes the first ignition much easier.

Handmade is gaining more and more popularity. Extravagant jewelry, paintings, toys, decorative elements, gifts - this is just a small part of what passionate craftsmen and amateurs create with their own hands. Today we'll talk about how to make a candle at home.

This process does not require special skills and devices. After reading our recommendations and detailed master classes, even beginners can start this exciting process.

CREATING A CANDLE: GETTING STARTED

Making candles with your own hands is much easier than you might think. And the main advantage of such an occupation is necessary materials easy to get. If you look well, you will even find them in your home.

MATERIALS FOR A DIY CANDLE

Wax, stearin, or paraffin wax are best for the job. Moreover, for beginners it is better to start acquaintance with the latter, it is the least whimsical to use. You can purchase paraffin wax from the store or use leftover white candles.

WICK

It is best to use natural threads as a wick, ideally thick cotton threads. Do not try to use synthetics: such a wick will quickly burn out and leave behind bad smell... To test the thread for naturalness, simply light the tip of it. If it melts, forming a hard ball at the end, then you have synthetics.

If you have conceived an unusual candle and are thinking how to make an original wick for it, then use colored floss threads. It is a great and natural material.

Remember an important rule: the thicker the candle, the thicker the wick should be.

It is easy to do it yourself. To do this, prepare a solution: dissolve 1 tablespoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of boric acid in a glass of water. Soak a cotton thread or floss in it for 12 hours. Then dry them and twist them into a tourniquet or braid.

If this process seems tedious to you, carefully remove the wick from the finished household candle and use it.

CANDLE SHAPE

First of all, decide on the configuration of the desired candle, and then try to find a hollow object of the same shape. You may find it useful:

Milk and juice cartons;
. plastic cups from yoghurts and desserts;
... shells from eggs;
... silicone molds for baking;
... glass goblets, wine glasses, wine glasses and glasses;
... children's pies;
... curly forms for ice cream;
... tin and glass coffee jars;
... empty cans.

The only requirement is that the mold material must withstand heating up to 100 ° C.

One more interesting option- pour candles into beautiful transparent glasses. They will not be available, but they will look very stylish and unusual.

Sometimes scented candles are made in tangerine or orange peel. The fruit is pre-cut in half and the pulp is carefully removed. You can also use large shells or coconut shells.

DYES

A white candle is elegant but boring. Naturally, the question arises of how to paint paraffin in order to get bright interior decorations.

For lovers of candlelight, it is best and cheapest to take wax crayons for children's creativity. Looking for a special candle? Look for pearlescent crayons - your creation will be unique.

Do not try to use water-soluble gouache or watercolors - you will be in for a fiasco. The dye will inevitably settle to the bottom or flocculate. The finished product will look very unpresentable.

WARE FOR MELTING PARAFFIN

In order to melt the paraffin wax, you will need a small saucepan for the steam bath and an iron bowl. Experienced craftsmen it is recommended to heat paraffin on a steam bath, considering other methods, including a microwave oven, to be fire hazardous.

We recommend that you also use this method, proven over the years, for a start: place a bowl of paraffin in a container with boiling water. If the candle is planned to be colored, add the crayon immediately and stir the melted mass several times to obtain a uniform color.

FRAGRANCES AND DECOR

Any materials at hand are suitable for decorating candles. First, decide on the topic of your work. Pebbles and shells will effectively complement the candles in nautical style... For the New Year theme, use beads, small cones, small decorative balls, ribbons and bows. Decorate Valentine's Day candles with hearts, glitter bows, dried flowers, coffee beans, etc.

Homemade candles are best scented with essential oils, which can be purchased at your nearest pharmacy. Another option is to find vanilla cinnamon in your kitchen. It is worth adding flavors to the melted paraffin at the very end, after dyeing.

COLORED CANDLES IN LAYERS

Spectacular colorful candles in a transparent glass will become a highlight of your interior. How to make them, see our master class illustrated with step-by-step photos.

Materials (edit)

Before making colored candles with your own hands, prepare:

Transparent wax;
wax pencils;
disposable paper cups;
glass cups;
wicks;
ice cream sticks;
aroma oils;
microwave oven;
grater.

Step 1. Grate regular transparent wax and fill paper cups with the resulting material. It is only necessary to fill them with this material by a quarter.

Step 2. Send the glass to the microwave for 45 seconds. Get it out. Stir the wax with a wooden stick. It should melt completely, if this has not happened, send the glass to the oven for another 30 seconds.

Step 3. Dip the wick into an empty glass cup. You can attach the other end to an ice cream stick and place it on top of the cup. This will make it easier for you to continue working. Pour some wax into a glass and wait for it to set. Thus, the wick must be fixed in the center of the cup.

Step 4. Remove the paper wrapper from the wax crayons. Grate them and add the desired color crayons in separate cups with wax. For a third of the wax glass, add shavings of one pencil to get a fairly saturated color.

Step 5. Send a glass of colored wax to the microwave for 2.5 minutes. Take it out and add a few drops of your chosen aroma oil while stirring. You don't have to, but with oil your candles will exude a pleasant scent.

Step 6. While holding the wick, pour the first layer of colored wax into the glass. For an interesting pattern, tilt the cup at an angle and hold it there until the wax grabs.

Step 7. In the same way, melt the cups with wax of a different color and also, but at the opposite angle, pour them one by one into a glass cup. Fix the container in a different position each time until the wax sets.

Step 8. Having formed a multi-colored candle, let the wax cool completely.

Bright and unusual candles ready. You can use them for their intended purpose or give them to friends as souvenirs.

For work you will need:
... paraffin;
... optional dye and flavor;
... wick and holder for it;
... cylindrical shape;
... small ice cubes.

Melt the paraffin wax in a water bath. If the candle is supposed to be colored, color the candle mass, if you wish, you can also aromatize it.

Place the wick in the mold so that it reaches the bottom. Do not forget to attach it to the top of the makeshift holder. Fill in crushed ice, not reaching a couple of centimeters to the brim.

Pour melted candle mass into the mold. Leave the workpiece until the paraffin has cooled completely. In this case, naturally, the ice will melt, and cavities will form inside the candle.

Drain the water carefully and remove the product by pulling on the wick.

To work you will need:
... any dried flowers;
... 2 candles - for decoration and regular;
... tea spoon;
... tweezers;
... nail scissors;
... paraffin wax for the final coating.

From the dried flowers you have available, compose the composition that you want to bring to life.

Heat a teaspoon over an ordinary burning candle (with the inside over the fire, since the spoon will turn black a little, and in order not to stain the candle - then we will carry out all the manipulations with the other side of the spoon).

Attach a dry flower to the candle to be decorated and gently iron its petals with the outer side of a spoon so that they melt to the paraffin and do not stick out. Thick stems may need to be ironed several times while heating the spoon.

Excess stems that go beyond the candle, carefully cut off with scissors.

Glue the rest of the elements in the same way, choosing the desired location for them. Make sure that the edges of the leaves and petals do not stick out.

It remains to consolidate the result. Melt the paraffin in a water bath, pour it into a container into which you can completely dip the decorated candle.

Holding the candle by the wick, immerse it in the melted paraffin, set it on flat surface and let cool. If the petals were poorly smoothed and sticking out tips are still visible, repeat this procedure again.

Such an elegant candle will win any heart and will not be left without attention. Complete it with a beautiful candlestick and it will become a unique decoration for your home.

DECOUPAGE CANDLES WITH PAPER NAPKINS

The desire to decorate a candle could come instantly, but there are no dried flowers at hand. In this case, paper napkins can be dispensed with. With their help, you can easily decorate a candle for any holiday.

Choose a napkin with the pattern you want. Cut out the desired items from the napkin. Carefully remove the bottom two layers of paper from the resulting blanks. Further, the principle of operation is similar to the decoration with dried flowers.

Place the prepared element on the candle and iron it with a hot spoon. Sand the cooled surface with the rough side of a regular kitchen sponge. It is not necessary to immerse the candle in melted paraffin with this method.

Your masterpiece is ready. Create a beautiful arrangement of candles in the New Year's style, fir branches and colored balls. She will bring to your home good mood and a festive atmosphere.

Candles made from natural beeswax, which initially had a purely utilitarian purpose and were used as the simplest sources of illumination, in addition to their main function, began to perform other tasks (decorative, emotional, ritual), which made them indispensable in everyday life. Let's try to figure out how you can make wax candles with your own hands at home, what are their advantages and differences from paraffin candles.

Golden-yellow candles, painted in natural tones with particles of honey and pollen contained in wax, made from a natural product without the use of any chemical dyes, artificial flavors, foreign additives and impurities, are used in the most different situations and for different purposes.

Ecclesiastical

When it comes to wax candles, the first thing that comes to mind is candles, which are most often used in religious rituals, both in church and at home. They are made only from natural raw materials from the apiary without any additives.

Household

Their name speaks for itself. They are simple in shape (usually elongated in the form of a cylinder), functional, and well illuminate the room. They are used most often when there is no electricity.

Decorative

This is the most common type. wax candles... They are used at home as a source of light to create a romantic mood and a special atmosphere, as well as an interesting interior decoration. These candles come in a variety of shapes and can be made with dyes and fragrances.

Candles for traditional ceremonies, rituals and rituals

Dining candles made with paints and fragrances create the effect of subdued lighting at dinner and are used as an additional decorative element.

Thanks to their compactness and lightness, tea candles were originally designed to heat and maintain the required temperature in a special teapot on festive table... Now they are adored by romantic and dreamy natures, who often use them to create coziness and a special atmosphere in the room, at the table and even on the water (they are very light and stick well to the surface of the water).

What do these types of candles have in common? All of them can be made from a natural product - harvested in an apiary. Nothing else can replace their ability to fill the home with a subtle honey scent. And the process of pouring golden liquid beeswax into molds is akin to meditation, culminating in the moment a thin wick is placed in the center of each candle.

How are beeswax candles good for you?

What benefits, apart from aesthetic pleasure, can wax candles give us?

Their subtle, unobtrusive honey-floral aroma is provided by the particles of products produced by bees in the apiary that are part of the beeswax. This natural aromatherapy soothes and relaxes and creates a pleasant atmosphere in the home.

Such candles burn very cleanly and longer than paraffin candles, without emitting any harmful substances into the surrounding space. And they cope with their functional task of lighting the premises perfectly.

Wax candles help to maintain and restore health, filling the house with an aroma that can affect microorganisms during combustion, due to the fact that the wax contains the remnants of propolis, resin and other useful substances found in the hive in the apiary. This feature allows the use of candles in folk medicine as a healing agent to stimulate the body, to improve mood.

Wax candles not only provide us with a calming and pacifying atmosphere, but also make the air in our home cleaner, providing a healthier atmosphere. This can be explained very simply. When burned, wax candles release negative ions, which easily neutralize the positive charge contained in dust and micro-pollutants in the air.

By the way, this principle is used in the work of some air purifiers and water filters.

Burning wax candles reduces the content of impurities in the air, and it becomes cleaner. A favorable atmosphere is created in the room, which contributes to a more comfortable stay in it for people suffering from allergies, asthma.

There is evidence that burning a couple of wax candles in the room for a while allowed the allergy sufferer to tolerate a component that causes a persistent allergic reaction (such as the presence of a cat) more easily and to feel more comfortable for asthmatics.

In addition, the pleasant sweetish and light aroma of candles, consisting of 100% pure natural wax without fragrances, dyes and other additives, does not irritate at all.

Of course, high-quality beeswax candles are not cheap, but health care is a more weighty argument for many. When purchasing ready-made wax candles, you need to carefully study their composition. Sometimes, candles are given out as a pure product, which only 50% consist of beeswax and contain not entirely safe paraffin.

Cons of paraffin candles

The common candles we use most often are made from paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of oil refining. By its chemical properties, it is a fairly environmentally unfriendly and highly toxic product that can pollute the air we breathe in the house.

The technology of its extraction is as follows: paraffin is extracted in the process of oil refining from the lowest layer of an oil well. This black mass contains many toxins. Further, the raw material is bleached and processed with benzene and other preparations containing carcinogenic substances. Further processing in order to give the resulting waste an attractive presentation, aroma and color is also carried out chemical means.

Read also: How to melt natural beeswax at home?

As a result, we, unsuspecting, get a beautiful, completely innocent-looking candle that contains dangerous toxins. Some of them are released during combustion and are carcinogenic.

What is the danger of the toxic effects of paraffin suppositories?

Paraffin candles can cause certain health problems with frequent and prolonged use. Tiny particles of a harmful substance easily and invisibly enter the lungs of a person, which can cause irritation respiratory tract and allergies.

As for the dyes and fragrances that are added to paraffin candles, they are also not always safe. During combustion, such a candle can release toxins, which are formed when the molecular structure of oils changes when heated.

And these are not the only disadvantages of burning paraffin candles. When burned, they release toxic fumes and microscopic soot particles, which over time leave dark spots on ceilings, walls, furniture and interior items, and also settle in the human lungs.

How to protect yourself in this situation? Either do not use paraffin candles without special need, or try to learn how to make useful and safe candles on your own.

We make candles from wax with our own hands

Candle making is fun. For example, you can take a short break from your daily affairs or make an original and useful gift for yourself or your loved ones with your own hands.

Of course, without mastering at least a minimum of small secrets and various wisdom invented by savvy masters (and there are a lot of them over the years), you will not achieve a good result. But it is still possible and necessary to try. The process of mastering the art of making wax candles is simple and fun. And, perhaps, for someone it can become a favorite pastime.

To guarantee a pure product with healing properties, only natural beeswax is required to make candles. It is best to purchase it from those who are directly involved in beekeeping. That is, from trusted beekeepers who can offer the correct beeswax (this may depend on the season and the amount of pollen contained).

So how to make beeswax candles at home? Let's consider several ways.

Rolling from sheets of foundation

For the production of this method, a fragrant foundation is used. The sheets of foundation are slowly rolled and, under the influence of the warmth of the hands, slowly form the intended shape of a candle of the required thickness. Even a novice master can cope with such a task.

For manufacturing, you will need a sheet of foundation, twine (cotton or jute) for the wick (you can use a ready-made wick for candles), scissors and a tablet candle for wetting the wick in molten paraffin for better burning.

The candle has been a source of illumination since the 3rd millennium BC. At that time, only wealthy families could afford a candle. Today, this decorative element can be found in any apartment. However, not everyone knows that a candle can not only be bought, but also created with your own hands. Let's get started!

To make a candle, you will need:

wax or paraffin - (you can use household candles, cotton thread, a saucepan, a container for melting, various forms for candles, wooden sticks).

IMPORTANT! The wax hardens in 15 minutes, you need to work at a pace.

Master Class

  • Place a cotton thread in the middle of the candle holder. Secure the top edge of the thread on a wooden stick.
  • Prepare a water bath and melt the wax over low heat.
  • Pour wax into the bottom of the mold. Wait a minute for the thread to tighten.
  • Fill in the rest of the form with wax.
  • Leave the candle for 24 hours, then adjust the length of the wick.

Multi-colored scented candles

You can create such a multi-colored candle using the same technology as a wax one, only you need to add pieces of wax crayons before melting in a water bath. You can create a rainbow candle - for this, fill in multi-colored layers sequentially.

You will need essential oils to create a scented candle. Add a few drops of oil before melting the wax.

For relaxation, use bergamot or lavender oil. Clove and orange oil will give you an invigorating mood. Cedar and lemon oils are excellent stress relievers.

Transparent Gel Candles

The manufacturing technology of a gel candle does not differ from the creation of a wax candle. But instead of wax, you need a special gel for candles (it is completely transparent). Thanks to the gel, you can create not likely beautiful candles... Before pouring the gel, it is necessary to warm up the candle shape to avoid lumps. The form must be transparent! On the bottom of the mold, you can put beads, beads, shells, flowers and much more ... To get the effect of "hanging" add to the filled mold (or on the surface of a gel candle) pieces of jewelry (half).

Fruit candles

You will need:

  • wax or paraffin;
  • four wicks;
  • pot;
  • melting tank;
  • two lemons;
  • purple food coloring;
  • essential oil of lavender;
  • dried flowers.

Master Class

  • Slice the lemons in half lengthwise and remove the pulp.
  • Melt the wax. Add flowers, oil and color.
  • Clip the wick in the center of the lemon half. Cover with wax.
  • Put the candle in a cool place for 24 hours.

Coffee candles

First option

To create an invigorating candle, you need to add coffee beans to the wax. Next, see the master class on making a wax candle.

Second option

You will need a ready-made candle, it remains only to decorate it with grains. You can glue them with glue or hot wax.

The third option

Take a candle and place it in a transparent wide container. Cover the space between the candle and the glass with coffee beans.

Fourth option

To create the most fragrant candle, add ground coffee to the melted wax, then watch the master class described above.

Decorating a finished candle

To decorate the finished candle, we need a photograph. Print your photo so that the image is reflected on the tracing paper. Then peel off the tracing paper from the paper. Cut out the image and wrap the candle tightly. Wrap wax paper over the top of the candle. Heat the image with a hair dryer until it is crisp. Peel off the waxed paper and enjoy your decorated candle with a picture.

A handmade candle will always be a good gift that your family, friends or colleagues will be able to appreciate.

We wish you success in creating a masterpiece that will decorate the interior and create comfort in your home!

What is beeswax? 4 commercial varieties are considered, including wax for foundation, and it is indicated by what technology candles are made - 3 standard and 7 artistic technologies.

Beeswax is the base of additives E901 and E902, i.e. food and candle wax. The Russian GOST indicates the properties of another product - raw materials for foundation. The foundation leaf must be of the highest quality, otherwise the bees will not accept it. There are other natural varieties such as E903 carnauba wax. You can start making any wax candle by studying the properties of this material.

Compliance with safety regulations in the manufacture of candles

The wax will melt already at 65 ° C. Whitish foam will appear when heated to 100 ° C.

Protective apron when working with wax

The critical temperature is 120 ° C, when vapors are released that can flare up. Therefore, at home, wax is melted in a water or steam bath.

You cannot extinguish the flame with water - there will be an explosion. Use soda. And to block the access of oxygen, any available means will do. Before work, put on a canvas apron, gloves, and clothes should hide the maximum surface of the body.

Preparing to make beeswax candles

Equip the workplace:

  • Install a container with soda powder;
  • You also need a pot or a bucket of water in which you can put both hands;
  • Remove grease and wax from equipment parts;
  • The room must be ventilated.

Cookware is prepared - iron, enamel, copper. The aluminum will smell.

Steam and water

A sponge is placed at the bottom of the container with water, and a melting pot is placed on the sponge. The water level should be above the wax. The steam bath is not designed like this: there is a bowl on a dish filled with water, which covers the entire steam container.

With a steam bath, the main thing is not to be mistaken with the volume of the evaporated liquid. And the raw materials are washed, cooled and crushed before smelting.

Tools and materials for making beeswax candles

You need to think about what to make a wick for a candle. Usually three cotton threads are twisted or braided. You will also need:

  • Pencil;
  • Weight (can be taken in a tea candle);
  • A wick needle, but only when making short candles.

Molds can be made of any material, but first they are lubricated with detergent. Wood molds can be oiled with vegetable oil.

Product E901

It is better to buy the main material in granules, and E901 wax is white and yellow. Candles made of foundation are of high quality, but they are sold only to beekeepers.

Candle painting materials

The dye is added to the melted wax and mixed. Materials:

  • Wax crayons. Edible crayon cannot be made from paraffin wax.
  • Fat soluble food colorings- powder, gel, pasty;
  • Acting make-up, but not much, 2-3 gr. per liter;
  • Kandurin (gold), glitter (aluminum sequins). Glitter will smell.

Gel dyes are suitable for both gel and wax candles.

Food paint

Makeup emits harmful substances, but it is needed for pastel shades.

Do not use water-soluble dyes.

Stages of making beeswax candles

The wax is brought to T = 80 ° C. The wick must be waxed by tying a weight to it and fixing it on a pencil. Then the wick is fixed on the mold:

  • The weight remains on the thread;
  • The knotted thread is passed through the hole at the bottom of the mold.

If a tunnel can be made in the candle, skip this step.

Candle without thread

In "step 2" add the colorant, and before pouring - and the flavoring.

Pouring material into a mold

Even before melting, the mold is immersed in a solution. detergent, then wipe, but not dry. Warming up with a hairdryer will also be required.

Form set

The wick must be vertical. Then the wax is poured into the center of the mold.

The wax almost does not shrink, and solidification goes from the edge to the center.

Removing the candle from the mold

If a weight was used, the candle is pulled out by the wick. This method is not suitable for the variant with a knot. The knot is cut off, and needles, hooks, etc. are used to remove. With a form without a bottom, this method is also used.

If the mold is flexible, the candle can be squeezed out.

Types of wax candles

A compound candlestick always has an upper and lower halves. And candles with a short wick are sculptures in which a regular wick is not installed. Curly candles are obtained only in split or disposable forms. An example is geometric shapes. How to make such candles with your own hands is described for beginners in the video.

Figured wax candles at home

The form is made of paper, glued and painted over on the outside. Staining is carried out in order to seal the joints.

"Geometry"

A wick with a weight is installed, casting is carried out. The form is removed after cooling.

The valves at the joints will only be "external" (see photo).

DIY beeswax candle with floral motif

When using silicone, you can create a three-dimensional ornament. The detachable form is pulled together with clamps, and the wick is tied into a knot. On the other hand, with a one-piece form, a wick with a weight is used.

You can try making a mold with 5-7 layers of sealant.

The sealant is applied to the oil-coated sample.

DIY openwork wax candle

If you add pieces of ice to the mold, the finished product will be delicate. An example is in the photo.

Ice is lighter than water, and wax is even more so. When it cools, the melted ice flows down through the holes.

Precautions: the wick with a weight is glued to the bottom of the mold.

Colored wax candles

It's even amazing what you can do with your own wax without using silicone or paper.

Alternating layers

A candle of constant cross-section is immersed in colored wax, alternating several layers. There is no need to wait for drying. You will get a smooth transition or more complex effects.

White wax is the base material.

How to make a beautiful large wax candle

Take a multilayer workpiece. And they make "leaves" on the edges.

Carved ornament

All tiers are processed with a cutter in turn. They start from the top tier.

The previous chapter covered how to make a striped layer.

How to make a wax rose with your own hands

The base of the rose is a waxed wick. It is wrapped in petals.

Wax roses

Small master class:

  • The wax is poured onto a saucer;
  • At T = 37-40 ° C, the plate is removed with a thin knife;
  • Form a layer of petals.

The more layers, the more solid the result.

The plate, without removing it from the saucer, is sometimes cut into 2 or 3.

Loose Palm Wax Candle

E903 is supplied in granules which are poured into glassware. The surface needs to be leveled, and a waxed wick is installed in the center.

Candles from wax granules

The design looks simple. But a wick 10 cm long will not burn out even in a day.

Other names for E903 wax are carnauba, Brazilian, palm.

Nuances in choosing a wick

The journal Beekeeping has determined what the optimal diameter of the wick is if the raw material is foundation.

This data is also valid for E90X materials. The color of the E901 granules is irrelevant. For product E902, the numbers in the first line must be reduced.

Making candles from beeswax, they also make a wick with their own hands. The impregnation can be copper sulfate, salt or zinc filings. And the flame will turn into aqua, light blue or cornflower blue. And the material is cotton thread.

Useful properties and uses of beeswax ear candles

A tube of gauze and wax will help remove the sulfur plug. The method is not approved by medicine, but it is used in Asia.

Waxed gauze

Mode of application:

  1. Cut off part of the cone;
  2. Cover the patient's head with a cloth made of natural material (flax), make a slit;
  3. Install the pipe and set it on fire;
  4. Put out the flame when it reaches the mark.

Then, a cotton wool turunda is installed for 15 minutes.

Benefits of beeswax candles

A tubular candle helps to get rid of diseases:

  • Tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils), rhinitis, otitis media;
  • Sinusitis;
  • Decreased hearing;
  • Tinnitus, dizziness;
  • Sleep disturbance.

Antibiotics are needed to cure the infection. Without them, the benefits of the considered method will be zero. And if the wax gets into the ear canal, difficult treatment awaits, however, without surgery.

Another "minus" - fire hazard... Contraindications: purulent otitis media, ear infections, allergy to pollen or propolis.

DIY candles. Why and who needs them?

There is no point in asking what is the use of art for a person. It is still impossible to find the answer.

Technology "3 layers + thread"

Everything considered above will benefit the master himself, that is, the author of the work. And if it turns out to be successful, it can be used in any of three qualities:

  • As a bright and memorable gift;
  • As a visiting card of the products offered by the beekeeper;
  • As proof of the naturalness and high quality of wax raw materials.

The number of candlestick painters in Russia is now small. And success does not come to those who try to copy one of the well-known technologies. Possibility of invention new technology- another reason to master the candle business, and it is better if the beekeeper masters it himself.

Using wax in everyday life

Glaze and chocolate are prepared with edible wax, it is included in chewing gum. Medicine uses the bee product in a different way - it serves as the basis of ointments and is important material for dentistry. And the product, which corresponds to GOST 21179-2000, is intended not only for foundation. It is used in the same way as E901 pellets.

The use in traditional medicine is not considered here.

Facts

The white granules of E901 resemble paraffin wax. It is impossible to distinguish one from another by color.

A new kind of art

However, a paraffin candle leaves grime on the mirror. Other disadvantages are listed below.

How to expose paraffin wax

The natural product should sink in 44 percent alcohol. The density of the wax is lower and it floats up. Also, paraffin melts at a lower temperature than wax. But this problem is solved in its own way - natural ceresin is added. Its melting point is 65-88 ° C.

Regardless of what is added, the density only goes down.

Cleaning the candlestick

It is easy to clean the candlestick from wax - you need hot water, not necessarily boiled. And soot leaves paraffin or ceresin. You need chemistry to clean it off. And let it be neutral with respect to the enamel or finish.

The second way to remove the wax is to freeze it to T = -1 ° C - -2 ° C.

Candle composition

The products of some candle factories leave no doubt about their high quality.

Candles in retail

What is considered food goes into the casting of candles! But more often a mixture of wax and ceresin is used. The first of the two components is E902 wax.

E901 vs E902 cost comparison: "2.5 to 1" or "3 to 1".

Disadvantages of paraffin candles

A thin synthetic wick is a sign paraffin candle... The speed of burning depends on the diameter of the wick. And the soot left by the candles consists of the products of the combustion of paraffin. Among them, a significant part of the entire periodic table is represented.

The wax, which is composed of 50 organic substances, does not leave any soot.
