Large and small atlesh on a tarkhankut. Large and small atlesh on tarkhankut Large and small atlesh how to get there

But for now, there are azure bays in them:

And nests of solitary people:

Behind the next cape, the white tower of the Tarkhankut lighthouse and the gloomy "Ibragim-Yakim" appeared again:

On December 17, 2010, he sailed under the flag of Cambodia from Nikolaev to Turkey with a cargo of scrap metal. The cargo ship was owned by a Syrian company, the crew also consisted of citizens of Syria and India. Caught in a storm at night, the ship anchored in front of the lighthouse, but another wave broke the chain, the Ibrahim ran aground and received a number of holes. The crew was safely rescued, but the ship landed dead, and the Syrian owners simply stopped communicating, so Ukraine had to pump out fuel and disassemble the cargo at its own expense. For 5 years, the waves distorted the skeleton, so that only the feed that fell on its side remained from the "Ibrahim":

The fairway near Tarkhankut is generally a rather dangerous place, and since 2005, the Russian dry cargo ship Sirius has been lying aground on the Dzhangulskaya side in the same way, sailing from Yeysk with a cargo of not scrap metal, but lumber, but there too - to Turkey. However, by the time of the death of "Ibragim" there was already little left of him, and now, quite possibly, he completely disappeared under water.

The boat makes a circle, and the waves here, it was worth moving a little further from the shore, already quite noticeable - the tourists even squealed sometimes.

I could remember the Sevastopol, a giant ship aground in the Pechora Sea... but I'm on my way.

The loop around "Ibragim" is the extreme point of the excursion, the boat takes a course back to the Cup of Love:

The rest of the passengers all got there by car, and I was the only one hitchhiking, so I asked to be dropped off at the lighthouse. The Tarkhankut Lighthouse, built in 1816, is the oldest in the Crimea. Its height is 39 meters, and a cast-iron staircase leads up, and it seems that I saw something similar in Estonia ... and this comparison, in some century, is a flashback, not a flashforward. The Tarkhankut lighthouse is operational, but Estonia is not here for you - no one leads excursions to the site, and there is barbed wire around the lighthouse town.

Tarkhankut is often called the extreme western point of the Crimea, but this is not so. In fact, the western tip of the peninsula is this: the modest and nondescript Cape Priboyny, or Kara-Burun on the other side of the Karadzha Bay. In the sea, it protrudes literally half a kilometer further, and opposite it, after 200 kilometers - the Danube Delta under.

From Mayak to Olenevka, a military man threw me, it seems he was sent here from the mainland and competently combined service with rest. And in Olenevka, I was again picked up by a charming couple who spoke with such familiar intonations even from outside the Crimea - they called themselves Simferopol residents, who have relatives in Nikolaev, but I quickly realized that these were Nikolaev residents, who had relatives in Simferopol. One of the few Ukrainians who came to Crimea in the summer of 2015, when mutual enmity reached the peak of hatred. Of course, they were not happy about the loss of the Crimea, the funeral at the neighbor's entrance, and "this redhead from the Caucasus, who came to the Donbass," but they didn't curse anyone and didn't complain about anything. And on the fact that there are such people, so far the world is kept ...

Even in densely populated areas, corners untouched by civilization are often preserved. Big and Small Atlesh in Crimea is an example of such a protected area near popular resorts.

Where is the tract located on the map of Crimea?

It is located on the West Bank, southeast of Olenevka. In the vicinity you will find the Shelter Bay and the island remnant of the Turtle.

Origin and history

The peninsula is generally considered a unique Crimean natural area. The name Atlesh is carried by two of its capes - respectively, Big and Small, as well as the tract between them. The shore here is almost sheer, but is composed of soft rocks. Over the centuries, water and wind have given them a bizarre shape with "stairs", grottoes, caves and arches.

Rest on the ground is hardly possible here - there is bare steppe around, there is no shade. Well, since 1968, Atlesh has been. So they inspect it more often during sea excursions, and if they come by land, then rarely for a long time.

Beacon for smugglers

Another feature of Atlesh is its considerable depth. As a result, people have been fishing here for a long time, and it was important for sailors to be able to find the tract at any time of the day and in any weather - Tarkhankut is a rather dangerous place for sailors. Therefore, bonfires were often lit on the shore, which could serve as a guide.

In addition to fishermen, smugglers and other lawbreakers often entered the small secluded bays of Atlesh. And their fiery landmark gave the name of the area - "atesh" in Persian means "fire". Accordingly, scientists believe that the local coast was mastered and actively used by navigators in ancient times.

The unusual landscape of Cape Atlesh has repeatedly attracted the attention of filmmakers. Filmed here such tapes as "Pirates of the twentieth century", "Taman",. The directors did not have to strain the props - the area equally successfully "played" itself (that is, the Black Sea coast) and the island in the distant ocean.

In the area of the tract, experiments were carried out to determine the effect on a person of a long stay under the water column. For this purpose, in 1966, a whole residential module-house with the non-original name "Ichthyander" was lowered under it. Engineer D. Galaktionov and Dr. A. Hayes spent 3 days each as "guinea pigs".

Atleshi - a recognizable "face" of the Crimea

Landscapes of Atlesh are among the most famous and recognizable views of the Crimea. They are often used to advertise holidays on the peninsula. Often the rocks are examined during the boats,
but you can also get here along the coast, and there will be something for such travelers.

Big Atlesh on Tarkhankut is known for a 40-meter arch made by the sea in one of the rock formations. It is almost the official "calling card" of the peninsula. You can climb it - a metal staircase was recently built for this purpose. There is another one in the rock - stone, it appeared in one of the episodes of "Taman", but now it has undergone significant destruction.

Small Atlesh is pierced through with a long (98 m) tunnel. Small sightseeing boats are sure to sail there. In the film, the tunnel served as a "secret passage" to the pirate base. Next to it, an entrance to the lowest of the large ones is found. It is impossible to see it from the sea surface - it is located 10 m below sea level. The total length of the cavity is 150 m. Reviews from travelers are invariably enthusiastic.

A photo of the arch and tunnel is an obligatory attribute of the albums of those who visited Tarkhankut. If it was a romantic couple, then this must be accompanied by a picture near - a small reservoir on the shore, communicating with the sea by an underground channel. It was used in the filming of "Amphibian Man", showing Ichthyander's secret route from his father's house. Bathing in the Cup, according to legend, can ensure happiness in marriage,
if a couple decides to jump into it together and, moreover, can emerge without opening their arms.

Human hands also tried to create local attractions. On Cape Bolshoi Atlesh there is a “Rybatsky camp” - a kind of recreation area (paid). Its most remarkable object is the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (considered the patron saint of sailors), built under the auspices of UNESCO. Nearby there is also an entertainment program.

But the most interesting man-made attraction is located at the bottom. You need to become a diver to visit - an underwater collection of sculptural images of famous people (not only politicians, but also writers and musicians). The museum was created by V. Borumensky in August 1992 (the corresponding explanatory plate is also under water). The name appeared due to the fact that at first the underwater exhibition contained only images of prominent figures of the USSR.

How to get (get there)?

As a rule, they get here through Olenevka, having reached it by public transport, and then to the final place either on a ride or on foot (although it is quite a long walk).

By car, you can drive to Atleshi in the following way:

Geographic reference

The rocks of the Big and Small Atlesh are located near the small steppe village of Olenevka on the Tarkhankut Peninsula. The height of the rocks ranges from 40 to 60 meters. The total length of the protected area along the coast is almost 4 kilometers.

The composition of the rock is soft white limestone.
